I was on one ui 2.0 when i started playing pubg i noticed that when i play on full britness and auto brightness turn off my phone's brightness goes down automatically and at the same time when it goes down, on the bottom of the screen blue edge light also blinks.
and after a little while edge light blinks again and britness goes up as it was before.
when it goes down brightness slider remains on full.. auto britness is off.
now i updated to one ui 2.1 and reset my phone but same happens ..
can anyone help me why its happening.
even today i noticed that while i was on full brightness and browsing web my brightness also fluctuates but not to that extent when i was playing pubg.
today i changed my "screen mode" from adaptive to cinema photo.
hope it will solve my problem ..
let's see what happens..
actually same happens with me for pubg. didn't got any solution yet.

I play pubg also and notice yesterday it felt darker where I places brightness at 50% since the update. I also feel sounds are muted since the update.

Thank you so much for your suggestion actually i live in a hot climate and i realized that when i use my phone at full britness while gaming phone gets very hot and also the display of the phone and then this thing happens because of thermal throttling..
when i play in a cooler environment like in an ac room it doesn't happen.
and your are right when i ise it at 60 to 70% Brightness and not letting my phone overheat brightness issue resolves.
Same issue. When playing COD, sudenly it decrease brightness to very low. I have been taking care of not obstruct sunlight sensor. What I have to do is to increase it at maximum manually....
BUT, also I have problems with ping. It increases dramatically and then I have lag!. Horrible. It happens usally twice by game. I think is just on wifi, but i can not confirm yet. Anyone else with this other problem.???

Hi,
My Screen Dims on low battery, even when Power saver is turned off. This behaviour shows since update to 4.1.
The integrated Power Saver is set to :
Turn Power saver on : at 50% battery level
Brightness : 50% Brigtness
Powersaver : OFF
But still when 5% Battery is reached, the screen goes totally dark.
So dark I cannot read it most of the time. I have to use my hand to cover for shadow, set the brightness up, and then I can use my phone again. This makes toe phone unusable when battery is low.
I hate this behaviour and would like to disable this.
How do I disable it ?
As mentioned, this was not the case with Android 4.0.3 (stock, rooted), it happens since I updated to 4.1.2 (stock, rooted)
The intuitive place to look ws the power saver, but those settings seem not to change anything.
I have searched the net and these forums, but could not find a place where to correct this settings.
I would like the screen to remain it's last setting, not dim at all.
Please help.
You didn't set the brightness to auto, did you? Because this is maybe the cause of dimming. I'm not sure but that's my first thought.

Nope, tried both, auto and non-auto, in both cases when the 5% battery warning comes, screen is set to lowest possible level automatically, even in bright sunlight outside. In winter maybe, but in summer it suxx. Some automatic adjustment according to ambient light -might- be ok, but I would prefer that the backlight level is not changed at all.
Are you on stock? Or any custom rom?
I think you can maybe change this setting in build.prop or smth similar,
but I'm not that good when it comes to this.

As I said in the first post, I use stock rom.
I have now looked through build.prop file. There is a " #Backlight " section, in there is some " ro.lge.lcd_default_brightness=146 " entry. I will change it and see what happens when I hit 5% battery. But since there is no other setting (like when battery below 5%) this does not look very promising..
Does your P880 show the same behaviour ?
It actually did the same when I was on stock (now I'm on WerewolfJB) but it didn't bother me back then (almost never got my phone below 5% battery.
And because I'm not on stock I can not look for the right line in build.prop or other system config files.

So there is no "OFF" in the powersaver, it defaults to some weird settings when switched "OFF" ?
I will try that too.
Found solution here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.pruss.superdim
^works!
but for me after i lock the screen and un-lock im back at screen min, i had to re-open rootdim each time and set it. even the "lock" feature doesnt seem to overthrow the system 5% batt life force dim. annoying but at least rootdim works, even if i do have to open it each time
disable low battery dim

thanks the root dim it does work, you have no idea how long i search for this.Funny thing i came across this root app like 5 or 6 times and didn't think it would work cause i have lux dim the other root app and that one does bring the display back to 100 percent bright who would thought that the fix was this simple and yes like you say every time you lock the device it brings you back to dim mode but if you open the app and bring the slider all the way up it stays like that at 100 brightness, done that on my rooted galaxy s4 from cricket it works yey.
Hi somebody knows how to fix burn in on note 8 i have it in the middle of the screen anyone?
I think you need to replace the whole screen. Curious to how long have you had your note8? I've had mine since launch and my screen is still burn free, though I rarely go beyond 75% brightness.
There is no fix for burned screens, but there some precautions to prevent it, resonable brightness level is a very important one

I've had it since launch too
I am surprised some of you are running the screen at 75% brightness. Mine is usually set to 50-60% at all times and it is more than bright enough. This is for general indoor use/night time that is...
In fact, my other phone, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro is set to 70% brightness yet is about as bright as my Note 8 at 50% brightness. Fantastic and very bright screen the Note 8 already has...

Where do you derive the brightness percentage figures from?

As burn in would totally do my head in, I've got mine set to around 35-40% and I think that's plenty bright enough. Obviously, if it detects I'm in bright sunlight it gets brighter of its own accord, so the relatively low brightness works well for me, plus it saves a bit of battery too.
I got burn in just the status bar,but without clock and battery and other items, just the bar itself,i use the phone for about six mounths, and i stay over 75% everyday,i work outside ..and only that bar got burn, you need to be careful cuz the note 8 is a beautiful pice.
I just got a replacement for my Note 8 after having terrible burn in using the navigation app. on my motorcycle. I always had my brightness set to auto, but had the nav app display always on. I actually have bad burn in from both the copilot app as well as the Waze app. With the replacement, I will set the app to turn the display off after a few minutes. Kind of sucks, as I used my Note 3 for 3 years and never had this issue. I wonder if reducing the screen resolution would help? I always had it at the highest setting.
Lowering the resolution will in fact make it worse, as it groups pixels to behave as one, better do what you said, lower brightness, shorter times to screen off, etc

I had a similar burn-in issue using Android Auto on my Note 4, so for my Note 8 I use Tasker to dim the screen to around 10% which is just about visible - I can restore normal brightness by using the proximity sensor to toggle it on and off.
So I have an annoyance that I was hoping someone has a fix for. I'm using a wireless charger, Samsung Duo, to charge my phone and S3 at night. When my alarm goes off in the morning and I swipe to shut it off my screen goes to MAXIMUM BRIGHTNESS. This is on the lock screen and it eventually times out. But when I take the phone off the charger, it again goes to MAXIMUM BRIGHTNESS. I'm not kidding when I say it lights up the entire bedroom like a swat helicopter is outside my window with a spotlight! Is this a bug or is there a setting I'm missing?!

Set Auto brightness on a schedule - or - set blue light filter on a schedule - auto does indeed do some unusual stuff.

So it's just the lock screen. As soon as I unlock the phone the screen goes to auto-brightness.
Hi, I would like to know if you too when I turn on the screen is as if it refreshes before turning on.
And the same thing when I turn off the screen and turn on the always on display it refreshes the brightness of luminosty the hour before decreasing intensity.
Thanks
Factory reset fixed this for me. Out of the box, it did not fair well and I noticed this after a day of use.
I'm on day 9 of the reset (recovery side), and it is going well.
This is probably the worst issue I have with the phone, it seems to drop screen brightness when it heats up, which more likely than not happens when using the phone in direct sunlight, making what is generally a bright screen under sunlight become a pain to use.
I'm not exactly a heavy phone user, so I'd much rather keep the phone at max brightness for short periods, even if it heats up a little. Anyone had any luck disabling this safety feature?

Have you tried turning off Adaptive Brightness in Display settings?
And also have you got the latest firmware update?

Yes, it was all turned off, but in the meanwhile I cleared the data for Device Health Services and it seems to have stopped sudden changes in brightness, it would visibly brighten up the display going from indoors to outdoors before.
Seems it was still retaining some adaptive brightness settings even after having disabled it. Will test if further tomorrow to see if that fixed it.

Well good luck bud!
Well, it still dims and brightens the display, to a lesser extent now, but I'm starting to doubt it's due to heating. Heating it up with intensive use while keeping it in bright conditions keeps the display at maximum, but changing lighting conditions like going indoors or covering the light sensor causes it to dim the display.
Is this a bug or a feature, I've seen people elsewhere complaining about this, so it's not a unique occurence.
