Hi everyone, on my old OnePlus Once I got home, the WiFi would turn itself back on, even if it was turned off. Is something like that possible with Xiaomi too? I'm on MINE 12 Global Stable
I don't think so. I use "Smarter Wifi Manager" myself.
It works 100%. Maybe you should try it out?

Any way to keep wifi on when NC screen times out from inactivity?
I have tried Keep wifi alive with no success. There is no option in the NC settings like there is on my HTC Inc.
Any help would be appreciated.

Spare Parts app has a setting to set wifi sleep policy to never. I've heard mixed reactions as to whether it works, but I'm pretty sure it's working fine for me.

Verified that it's working for me as well.
Thanks.
Ill give it a shot.
SpareParts is definitely not working for me. I think it modifies the settings.db/system table. Went to look at the table, nothing there related to wifi sleep policy. Should be wifi_sleep_policy with a field of 2, and that didn't work either. Any ideas?
Not working for me either.
Yeah, spare parts isn't keeping my wifi alive either. Every time i turn my NC on after sleeping for a few minutes I have to turn wifi off and back on again.
I got mine working. Spare Parts UI did not work. In fact i ran into issues restarting WiFi when I used the UI to set Sleep to never.
I had to manually create an entry in the secure table for wifi_sleep_policy and i use a widget to turn off wifi when i dont need it.
insert into secure values(152, 'wifi_sleep_policy', 2);
I used WiFi OnOff widget (free from market) to turn wiFi off when not needed.
^ Is there a guide somewhere?
duh.. this worked yesterday and now i am back to where i was before. This seems really flaky. I lose wifi even after having the setting. setting in DB or in spare parts does not fix it. its very random but fails more often than it works.
Possibly a faulty device? I cannot imagine that the Nook has such a basic problem. The only time it consistently reconnects is when i power on/off.
Any thoughts?
Is there a reason you wouldn't hit the power button to turn the screen off instead of waiting for it to time out? I do this when listening to tune-in radio, for example, and wifi remains on just fine. It also saves battery

I've never had to turn wifi off and back on to make it work again, you sure you aren't having problems with your wireless access point?
I found a quick solution that mostly works. If you download WakeTimer from the market, and create a wakelock (cpu on, screen off) that will keep Android from going into sleep mode and keep your wifi running. I tested it out by continuously pinging my Nook. I said "mostly" works because when you hit a button to turn the screen back on (either power button or nook button) I'd get a single ping timeout before it would resume.
*Edit*
Even though a single ping times out, there doesn't seem to be an interruption in streaming data. Don't know if I have to say it, but I will just in case...keeping your Nook from going into sleep mode will be a drain on the battery.
give it a try.
My rooted NC 1.1 has stopped reconnecting automatically to my wifi network after sleep. It had been working fine for a while so I am not sure what changed. To get it to reconnect I either need to toggle the wifi on/off or select the network using wifi settings. After that it is fine. If I just put it to sleep and turn it back on after a minute or so it connects fine. The problem occurs after several minutes (say 10) of sleep.
I have deleted all my network connections, rebooted and then connected to my network with no change. Again this had been working fine in its current state.
I then reimaged it to a known working 1.1 image using CWR but the wifi issue remains.
This is more nuisance then anything else but it sure is annoying.
Look forward to any suggestions since I dont know what else to try.

same problem here, sometimes it works but after waiting too long it doesn't reconnect. I think after being asleep so long it just fails to refresh/rescan. Kind of silly they dont have a rescan/refresh button in the wifi settings...
You can try going into Settings/Wireless/Wifi Settings/hit the menu again and go to Advanced, set the sleep option to Never. This helps but it still shuts off the wifi after being locked for a few minutes.
The fix I use is called "SoftLocker Free" in the market. This basically prevents it from sleeping, but still allows the screen to turn off. It draws more power from the battery since the wifi stays on, but I've had good luck with it.
Strange question, but do you have AT&T? I've seen a ton of folks with non-rooted nooks have this issue on the official Barnes and Noble forum, all with Uverse.
No i am not using att.
Thanks for the tips so far.

ZTE blade has a similar issue, there's a couple of workarounds.
1. Keep the device awake when screen is off (holds wifi connection but uses battery power)
2. Automatically toggle wifi when you turn the screen back on.
I've made an app that does (1.) when you leave wifi on and turn the screen off. (similar to softlocker, but it automatically grabs the lock when wifi is left on and has other features). Search for "Advanced wifi lock"
If you want (2.) grab "Blade wifi fix".
This seems to be common among Android devices judging by the sheer volume of WiFi fix and Wifi lock applications in the market. Now, we just have to figure out which one works better with NookColor. Free would be better of course
Mine does it as well - WiFi on after waking up. Can stay awake for 10 minutes not connecting, bus as soon as I'll go to wireless settings, I can see it obtaining IP immediately. I also noticed it goes away from time to time and comes back by itself.
Hello everyone,
So i upgraded my O2X like a month ago... and since then i have had issues with it...
I've upgraded to 2.3.4 from LG official updates... and since my upgrade i've got some serious issue's with my phone..
1. Alot of times i can't send any messages, and i have to retry like 2-4 times before it's working...
2. people can't call me from time to time.... it just hang's up from the person trying to call me...
3. sometimes when talking to somebody, the sound get's all wierd like a scrathing sound with other mixed wierd other sounds... it goes like that for about 5-15 seconds.. Then it stops and and often then i can't her the other person anymore... but sometimes it also goes back to normal..
4. Signal is lost sometimes... the signal bar indicates that their's no phone service.... and then comes back after like 5-15 seconds...
5. wifi aint working anymore... can't use the internet..
6. today i needed to use the gps... but when it finally has found the route i need.. it aint "updating" where im driving..... so i have to close the gps, and then start it again so i can get a update of where the car is located.. its like a "still picture" if you get me...
Please note that i have NOT done any factory reset of the phone after 2.3.4 upgrade... as it cant be true that i need to do such thing everytime an update is launched from LG just to get the phone working....
i dont have anything else installed, like CM or even rooted or anything.. its all stock rom from LG...
Anyone has some ideas or clues of how i can fix these issues?
i have met all of these issues as well. i have to add another issue,"wifi turn off automatically".

Maybe a stupid comment of me , but have you already looked at the wifi-advanced settings? because there you can switch off the "wifi power saving or sleepmode".
You should also check all settings because everything is put back to factory settings..
same freaking issues
What a fail from LG. I bought this phone recently for my wife and I was accusing her being crazy!
I changed all the settigns in wifi for battery effeciency to keept it always on no matter what! wifi keeps disconnecting at times. Even during skype calls and needs to restart wifi(deactivate->activate).
Anyone having a solution for that issues? Otherwise a custom ROM is going to solve this? And if so please propose one for simple use.
It is so FAIL from LG releasing a ROM hat does not work as it should with default values. Android is for users also, not just geeks.

Have you done a 'factory reset' since you updated the device?
You shouldn't lose any stuff on the card, only the applications that were on the phone as such. (But better than sorry to make a backup just in case). Oh of course you will lose contacts unless they are synced with another source as well).
GPS> Make sure you leave the GPS turned on ALL the time. It won't use it unless it has too, and if you start the phone with gps turned off, it won't connect to gps properly. Wifi ? er.. perhaps you need to go into the wifi settings and have a fiddle around with the sleep mode? Or perhaps increase the screen timeout so it doesn't keep disconnecting the wifi so often?
Get a Samsung for sure!!

It doesn't matter how many times I turn the wifi off on my nexus 6, it seems something keeps turning it back on. Im not sure how long it will take to turn back on, but I will look at my phone and notice that its back on again. It also doesn't matter what wireless AP I am by.
Is there a way to see what app, or whatever, is turning it on so that when I disable wifi, it's actually disabled until I change it otherwise?
I've been having something similar, coupled with my wifi disconnecting and reconnecting in a loop every thirty seconds. I'll notice my wifi looping like this, so I'll turn wifi off, only to have it turn back on by itself within ten seconds and start looping again. Really strange. This began about two days ago out of the blue. I haven't been able to pin it down to anything.
I'm running stock 6.0.1, Jan 2016 OTA.

Just wanted to follow up so you could check if this applies in your situation.
I finally found the culprit! I decided to reboot into Safe Mode to disable all third party apps and see if it still happened. When in Safe Mode the wifi was rock solid! That told me it was some app causing my problems. So I uninstalled several apps to try to narrow it down, especially those that had been updated recently and rebooted normally. It still looped the wifi.
After banging my head against the wall, I decided to go to developer options, show running processes, and see what apps were running that could be messing with the wifi. The normal apps you would expect to be running were listed, plus the MyAccount app from StraightTalk.
Why the heck would that app be running a process? I opened the ST app and looked through it's options. Low and behold was a section called wifi management. Holy crap, this could be it! I look in that section, and it was set to manage my wifi and connect and disconnect when sufficient access points are nearby. I turned that off, closed that app, and verified in Running Processes that it was indeed gone. It was, and my wifi has been solid ever since.
Stupid, stupid app!
OH MY GOD. This has been driving me nuts. Thank you so much!
I have just gotten a Desire 10 Pro due to my old Nexus 6 biting the dust recently. I currently use a Asus ZenWatch 3, which worked great with the Nexus but I've hit a problem with the new phone. When its on battery mode, if I turn the screen off, about 10 minutes after this it will cause the watch to disconnect from the phone. Not sure if this is a bluetooth disconnect or the phone is somehow killing the Android Wear app. I've tried to turn off Boost+, set everything that I can seem to find with bluetooth or Android wear to not be optimised but its still doing it.
It doesn't happen when the phone is plugged into the charger, just when its on battery? Any ideas of what I need to do. I would also love to get rid of boost+ but I cant work out how to disable this (guess i need to hit adb).
