Hello,
I have mi 9 T pro it will function normally and after manipulation or updating the proximity and light sensor no works.
Ok , after researching on the internet i understood that the persistent partition may be corrupt, and to solve the problem it must be repaired, that is the whole point of my question...
- i flash a global and china rom by the fastboot method did not change anything
- I flach a persist image with twrp and orange fox same thing
- i wipe system - vendor - cache - dalvik cache and instal rom via recovery and flach persist image no change
I found a method on XDA where it consists in making an EDL flash but the problem is it always asks me for authorization
I am lost and desperate
Help me please

Did you try hardware/sensor calibration after flashing persist partition?

I've used persist.img from Global v12 here
mystery, the proximity sensor works for a while and it stops and when I restart the phone it works again, and also my screen goes black until I restart too
i have been searching for this solution for past 17 days as my screen used to rotate only after boot ,but later rotation doesnt seem to work until i found this guide ,it works and works amazing
Thanks for the helpful guide

So, ive seen many complaints about this but, so far I havent seen anyone fix it. I know there are youtube videos and ppl have their methods but, these methods arent working for me. Obviously I have a Mi Mix. Whenever I boot into twrp it asks me for a password. Does anyone have a step by step way of helping me fix this? Otherwise, I think im just going to just give up.
The only clue we had as to a solution was this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix/help/twrp-0mb-t3740252
Not sure what twrp, rom, etc he was using, but he claimed he was encrypted and was able to decrypt in recovery. This has become a real issue with all the oreo roms, but has been an issue for me since day 1 Mi Mix...
Try removing any lockscreen password, including pattern, which is handled like a password.
Try formatting your memory to get rid of encryption.
Try a different TWRP, I use this one by raupe:

So there isnt really a fix for the specific TWRP (Mr.Raines)?

I dont know which Mi Mix that I have. I think its the global version, and so far the only TWRP that I can get on it is the one by Mr.Raines. Everything else seeme to fail. Other than trying a new different TWRP. Do we just have to wait for this to be fixed?
The best solution for now is to decrypt your data partition. This involves formatting your data partition in twrp and ensuring that it doesn't encrypt on first boot into whatever rom your using.
Im not sure on the particulars, but there is plenty of information in this forum to help you proceed if thats the route you plan to take. Its how i get around it for now.
I have the same problem, stuck on the same page...
Mi Mix 256/6 Global Rom
Also for me it's not possible to enter TWRP direct from a boot with VOL+ and POWER... it's then in mi recovery 3.0
So if anyone can help to solve this I would be very thankful. I really want to use this baby in the Dutch language but then I need to install the xiaomi.eu rom first....

Try flashing Raupes TWRP. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix/development/recovery-official-twrp-xiaomi-mi-mix-t3498960/
After flashing it via fastboot, turn the phone off first and then use the volume and power button to boot into recovery rather than going from fastboot straight into recovery mode.

Initial booting into recovery(twrp) should be done from fastboot via ''fastboot boot twrp_xxx.img'' code. Otherwise it would get into stock recovery.

When I did that I ended up in stock recovery time after time. Turning of my phone and turn it on again seemed not to cause this issue. For me.

After flashing recovery, from the fastboot screen you can hold down Vol up and power buttons till it reboots. You will then be taken straight to your custom recovery.
Thank you for your help.. Here is the solution that worked for me..
I am not allowed to post links but the answer is on the xiaomi.eu forum under Mi Mix: topic starter Eddy Zwets
Hi guys.
First of all, excuse me if this is the wrong place to post this.
I have a serious problem here with mi MI8 SE. Yesterday I unlocked the bootloader and I installed the miui.eu 8.8.30. When I started to use it, I thought it a little buggy. The proximity sensor was not working and the landscape mode was not working either.
I installed now the stable version of MIUI 10. The problems go on. I saw some videos on youtube speaking about the CIT menu (you can access it by pressing several times the Kernel Version).
I tried to calibrate the accellerometer, the gyroscope, the proximity sensor with no success. All the parameters are zero.
I have no ideia what to do.
I really appreciate any help.

try flashing stable miui 9 rom. see if the problem persists! if yes then its hardware problem
Download the fastboot miui 10 china rom.
Unzip and extrat the file persist.img.
Place It on internal memory.
Reboot in twrp then select install --> install Image and choose the persist img you've downloaded.
Reboot and you are done.
In that way the persist partition is replaced by the original and all sensors are reported to stock and fine
How reinstall the persist.img with bootloader locked?
I only have 3 days with the cellphone and the camera stop after update.
Hi here!
I bought my Mi 8 some days ago (China version, since I live there), and yesterday I finally got time to work on it to move to Global or EU_multi.
After some minor trouble (bootloop after installing magisk), the touch screen now is not working anymore: wherever I touch it, no response, both in recovery (TWRP) and normal system boot. Everything else is working, I can flash ROM via fastboot, and the ROM (I tried official China and Global) are correctly booting, but then I should touch the screen to complete the first time boot and I'm blocked, because it is not responding to touches. All other buttons are working (I can turn off/on the screen with power button, and I can hear the related sound). I can boot to recovery and fastboot. Everything seems OK, except the touch itself.
Is it possible that I did something wrong while trying to flash magisk? or disabling dm-verity and forced encryption? or anything else that could have caused this issue?
I tried to flash different TWRP recovery and different official ROMs (China and Global), but no result, touch always not responding...
If anybody have suggestion, please say.
And thanks in advance!
Edit: solved following this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/how-to/beware-global-weekly-betas-digitizer-t3879172

How about going to the thread about 'non-functional touchscreen solution'. It will fix your exact problem. No need for a new thread, you should have searched first.

So after flashing a few roms my sensors became corrupted I found out u need to flash persist to fix them but after I did that the popup camera started freaking out it keeps trying to close itself when it already closed it keeps telling me to calibrate it but after I do that it says could not calibrate I flashed persist through twrp. Right now I really don't know what to do can anyone help me fix this please
EI understand that persist must be flashed together with a factory reset (initial miui configuration)
Reflash your stock miui with miflash (dont lock bootloader). Boot miui up, open the camera app and it will say "calibrating camera" then it will be ok.
i agree to root my phone it would have been much better to read all the forum here but its so much easier to follow a video on youtube youtube.com/watch?v=VBLPRRBMjeg of user munchy.
i followed all the steps correctly and this several times but at the end instead of rebooting into miui i fall back into twrp. the phone tries to go to miui as on screen it shows mi.com and below unlocked in 2 occasions with a short black interval and after that back to twrp.
can anyone help? thanks in advance
I'm facing the same issue, try flash Magisk v20.1, reboot and do a Factory Reset on Wipe menu (TWRP). You will get rooted, but unable to install modules.
FORMAT DATA after flashing TWRP
