I have Google Play Music All Access and a premium Slacker Radio Account.
This happens whether I default Google Now to Google Music or Slacker
When I request it to play a song using "Ok Google Now" it shuffles the artists album rather than playing the specific song. It does this in Google Play music as well as Slacker depending on which I set the Google now Default to.
Examples:
I say "Play Rolling the Deep" and it will launch Google Now and say "Playing Rolling in the Deep by Adele" then google music will launch and it will just shuffle her album rather than playing the song.
or
Same thing happened when I tested "Sympathy for the Devil" it just played a random Rolling Stones Song, even though google now said "Playing Sympathy for the Devil by The Rolling Stones"
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is one of the reasons I wanted the touchless controls of this phone!
Moto support had me reboot into recovery and clear the cache. That fixed it.
Configuration:
- 2017 Audi A4
- Google Pixel 2, direct from Google, latest February security update (8.1), rooted
Usually, I Just use Spotify as my Android auto music app. Since Google Play Music is part of the Android Auto suite of apps, and because I don't use it, I simply just freeze it in titanium backup to disable it. So until recently, I could use Google voice search in my car to search a song, and it'd do it in Spotify.
Somewhat recently, I had tried an app called YouTube Music. I uninstalled it and didn't like it. Ever since then, I have completely wiped my phone clean to get the latest Feb update. However, there's some profile somewhere that remembers that I had used YouTube Music. Now, whenever I search for music, I must use the words "in spotify" since the default music search now gives me this voice message:
"YouTube music player isn't installed..."
How can I remove any memory of having had used said program? Also, have any of you managed to change the default music player to Spotify without having to "freeze" google play music? Something changed in Android 8.x I feel (maybe sooner). Going into Settings-->Apps, the option to change an app for default is greyed out.
It was actually just a coincidence. I had never installed YouTube music, and I got the exact same error. Go into the main google app, then select settings. Then choose settings under google assistant. Under services, select music. Make sure that spotify is linked, it will be under "more music services" if it is not. Once spotify appears under "your music services" select it to make it the default. You should be good to go!
So when I ask Google to play my (insert custom playlist name here) through Spotify, it will register that I'm asking for a playlist, but it'll only play some community playlist instead of mine specifically. It's a a bit frustrating considering that Android Auto will of course prevent you from scrolling through your playlists to find the one you want to play. Is there some fix that can be done to make this work, or is this just really not implemented to properly work as of yet? Thanks.
Hi Guys
I currently have most of my own mp3s uploaded to google play music (not subscribed) which works very well, but obviously when google goes to youtube music i will not be able to play my own music unless i subscribe (to which i currently subscribe to spotify at the moment)
I also have all my music stored on a local media pc to which i have jriver running and i can use the app from my phone to send music to all my google home / minis
Is there a way i can get google to play my music from my local media pc using voice control from the google home as once google music goes i will lose the ability to play from google music as you have to subscribe to youtube music
I live in the UK and have 3 Google Home speakers on my network.
I really like Pandora for streaming music but it's only available in the US. I have a premium account which I use on my phone (with a VPN) without issue and I would like to set it as the default music streaming provider on my speakers too.
I've set up split tunnelling on my router so Pandora isn't geo-blocked and can access it on my laptop and any other device on my network so I'm fairly confident that its working.
However, I don't know how (or even if it is possible) to set it up on Google Home? When I go to the Music section in the Google Home app Pandora isn't listed as an option so I don't know where to go from there!
Any suggestions?
