Mesh network issues! - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Curious what peoples experiences are with the Note 9 and a mesh network. In my household I have various devices (iphone 7, ipad mini 3, LG v20, amazon fire) including my recently acquired Note 9 (SM-N960U1) to compare their behaviors. In general I thought android did the best job in "seamlessly" switching between access points. I'm also running ASUS's AI Mesh system (that's a whole other rant for another day). From what I read/understand, ASUS has implemented its own hand off protocol (and not one of the standards) - just great (again, that's a rant for another day).
From reading various forums, the AI mesh setup has been tweaked to yield the best results among all the devices. The iPad mini 3 being the worst. Sometimes it will drop the connection all together and refuse to reconnect - with it all of a sudden complaining about an incorrect password (strange - it was just connected with that very same password).
A month or so ago, I switched from my LG v20 to the note 9. The transition went well, and I appreciated the increased speed/response - life was good! It wasn't until a few weeks later that I discovered my wifi indicator had an exclamation mark when I moved from one access point to the other. And what was weird is that it refused to let go of the weaker signal and connect to the strongest. It wasn't until I toggled the wifi on/off button did it reconnect. This happens almost every time I walk around and switch to a different access point. This is completely unacceptable for a major manufacturer like Samsung.
A lot of posts will state that wifi roaming is not perfect - which I can accept. In this case, it seems like something is broken. I could live with a delay as it switches APs (like my other device), but simply failing to connect all together is simply unacceptable. I tried app "wifi roaming fix" and that didn't work. The app "Smart Wifi Selector Trial" seems to work, but it more or less internally does a wifi on/off toggle - which isn't really a seamless solution, but will have to do for now.
Anyway, I didn't find much info on this on XDA, so I thought I'd throw it out there to see what people's experiences are. Maybe the solution is to dump ASUS AI mesh all together - but from my reading on other sites, it doesn't appear to be isolated to ASUS AI Mesh.

Incredible how these phones get rave reviews, and such a basic show stopper issue is not mentioned. No wonder Samsung has zero motivation to fix it. Anyway, thanks for confirming.

I'm still in disbelief about this network connectivity behavior from the mighty Samsung. I ended up trying the app "SmartWiFiSelector". It seems to do what Samsung should already be doing (perhaps a little more "violently" in the sense that it (I think) more or less automatically disables and then renables the wifi connection). So with this sort of violent network disruption, you can say goodbye to any hope of a seamless transition between hotspots while in the middle of a video chat. But, sigh, its still better than sitting around with no connection at all for 1-2 or more minutes (absolutely ridiculous).
The "smartwifiselector" trial period has ended. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with a similar free app that does the same thing. There are several apps, but it seems they don't work as well as this one. I'm all for paying for apps - I just hesitate paying for apps that fix a blatant bug - because the app will obviously become useless when the bug is fixed. But it seems other users have been complaining about this bug for a year+ now, so perhaps it will never get fixed...
Many years ago (for other reasons) I vowed to never get a samsung phone. I broke my rule, and am paying for it dearly

Froyo + WiFi = disabled connections

So ever since I've gotten my Nexus One I've been noticing it drops out of a WiFi way too often. It does it both at home and at work on Wireless routers using the latest firmware. I've set the sleep policy to never go to sleep but most of the times I wake my phone up, I'll find it on 3G instead of the full strength WiFi it should be on. On 2.1 when I'd go into WiFi settings it would show the connection and say something along the lines of "Connection unsuccessful, tap to try again" and on 2.2 it just says "Disabled, Secured by blah blah blah". If I retry, it ALWAYS connects and WiFi will stay active for a short period of time before falling back to 3G.
Is there some way I can tell Android to retry the WiFi connection if it fails instead of just giving up? I've been looking through the WiFi API's on the Android Developer site and I'm this close to writing an application that will attempt to mitigate this issue for me.
If I'm within range of one of my pre configured networks, I want the phone to try it's hardest to stay on WiFi. If it loses connection, retry. It it can't get it after 5 retries, wait five minutes and try it again, don't just give up and mark the connection as disabled.
I've read tons of threads about people with WiFi issues and people always say "it's the router, it's the channel, etc, etc" but my WiFi works perfectly fine as long as there is a human to reconnect it if it drops.
Anyone else in the same boat as me?

same issue here. i had been looking for an app that would force the connectivity, but the market doesn't seem to have it. just a bunch of crappy wifi on/off switcher management apps. i'm surprised that no one has hacked this function or built an app for it.
It's certainly a very annoying problem. Mine will go to known good wifi networks, at work, at home and at other locations where my other devices work flawlessly. I have a coworker with the exact same firmware (we updated using the same file) on a nexus one that has never seen this problem, which I find odd, but I'm fairly new to Android. It looks like a software or driver issue to me, but as I said, I'm new to Android.
My device shows the known networks as "Disabled", but I can connect manually.
Looks like it's worth me coding up an App to fix this then.
what kernel are you using? i used to have that problem but that has gone away with newer kernels. unfortunately a new problem has arisen where after being in standby for a while, wifi shows as connected but doesn't have an outside ip. wondering if its my rogers modem or not.

Personally I wouldn't do any work towards writing an app to fix this since it looks to me to be an OS or driver issue that should be resolved in a future release (hopefully in very short order).
An app would really just be a band-aid, but I'm the lazy type and I can deal with using my cell ular data when I don't feel like reconnecting my wifi.
Full disclosure: I'm a crummy programmer and it takes me forever to write stuff so I'm usually less inclined to do it.

I'd rather take the time to fix it then wait for an update that may never arrive. Always fun digging into the API anyways
That's cool. I still find it a bit troubling, though, that some devices see it and some don't, using the same firmware, on the same wireless networks.
I guess it could be a board rev. difference or an app conflict or something. ::shrugs::
I have a similar problem. I use APNdroid to keep cellular data off and use wifi, but I continually have to reconnect wifi no matter what if I am not actively using it. Defeats the purpose of push email.
I downloaded APNdroid after checking data usage and finding that with wifi on there was still significant 3G leakage. Especially confusing with wifi set to never sleep and plugged in overnight.
On the plus side, APNdroid has netted me a lot more battery life, I can almost get two days and one night. I almost never use my spare battery anymore.
Just as an additional data point, I am having the exact same issue with 2.2 FRF83 (I had been on FRF50).
It looks to me like it is simply scanning all of the time and never associating with a known network. I'm not sure why it flags them as "Disabled", however.
Have you guys tried to set the "wi-fi sleep policy" to "never"

Yeah, it doesn't help, that was one of the first things I tried. Any time I leave and come back, the networks show as "Disabled". It's a frustrating issue in that it isn't consistant. It's 80% fail, 20% work.
I had my g1 for a year now and just now got my n1. I havent rooted it b/c of this bug. At first i couldnt listen online radio b/c as soon the display went out it would buffer the whole time. I played with the wifi router and the n1 wifi settings an managed to fix it somehow, BUT when i wake up in the morning for some od reason it lost connection and never reconnected again. So i can hear online radio with the display out but after some hours w/o online radio and just in standby it loses wifi connection and never connects again
This issue is not new. There is a thread on the google forum many pages long. Nobody hase even a clue where it could come from. Some1 on the forum said if u call support they will tell its ur routers fault.
The n1 completly ignores the sleep policy settings.
I have rooted two g1s with goldcard and still using one w/o a problem.

Well, I know fore a fact it's not my access point. I am a network engineer and worked on wireless systems for years and debugging these types of problems is something I'm a bit obsessive about. This stinks of a software or driver problem to me. It could potentially be a hardware revision issue since we have a N1 that works perfectly in all scanerios.
I've tested this with the following access points:
Apple Airport Extreme
Apple Airport Express
Meru
Cisco 1231
Cisco 350
Belkin pre-n
Linksys WRT54G stock
Linksys WRT54G dd-wrt (I forget the build number)
Soekris Engineering running pfSense
All exhibit the same behavior, while my control devices (Apple iPhone 3g, Apple Macbook Pro and a MyTouch 3g running Cyanogen 2.1).
I wasn't aware that this was related to rooting, I'd be more than happy to move back to a stock ROM if that solved my problem. Maybe I'll try that today if I get some time.
Could you possibly post a link to the google forum you're referencing?
I'm currently digging through the alogcat output to see if there is anything interesting in there.
This issue is worse since I upgraded to 83. I'm actually holding off to try CM6 when it comes out to see if there is any better performance there. I'm not sure if he uses updated drivers or kernel that may give better wifi performance.

[Q] HTC One KILLING home network when WIFI turned on

Just received my One in the mail today. After connecting to my home WIFI I started experiencing connectivity issues with all devices on my network. This thing is constantly pinging I/O. Screen shot of my bandwidth monitoring graphs from DDWRT'd router attached. When I turn it off I get great speedtest.net results and a quiet flat line on my monitor graphs. Turn WIFI on the phone back on and the graph lights up and speed tests take a dump. Any ideas?
my roommate's iphone5 does this, but it's intermittent. I'll be playing BF3 and notice lag spikes all of sudden. That's how I always know he's either home or connected to Wifi. Doesn't always happen though.
this has been constant since I turned it on at 3 PM today
My LTE did this to my network too, fixed it by putting in a $1200 Checkpoint security appliance lol, been running this way for about 3 months no issues. Somewhat of temp solution, but one of the benefits of working It, have to return to company. Still have not had time to dig deeper, just needed fixed ASAP due to fiancé getting frustrated that Internet always going down.

I had same issues we have 10 devices here and while playing Halo4 noticed lag. We upgraded our Router to Netgear 5g and havent had troubles since.

not a router issue. as of this morning I have powered off all other connected devices and was able to produce the same issue. Having constant I/O activity from a particular device is not indicative of a router issue. Something in the phone, service or app, is constantly pinging.
I haven't experienced this issue with mine. Been running the One along with my laptop, PS3 and Xbox without any problems. Using a Linksys routing running DD-WRT, fwiw.

It may be an app trying to lock. I have two Ones with various apps and haven't had any ping issues. Just was online with computer and our device activities are medium in use and nonexistent at idle.

just went out and bought a Linksys EA6500 HD Video Pro AC1750. Issue remains. As I suspected, not a network infrastructure issue. Now I need some input as to what phone services might be the culprit. I bet if you have the Asus RT-AC66U you wont have any problems. It's $200 but man is it a beast. Plus it has AC and so does your new phone so I suggest it. I bought mine about 2 weeks ago and I love it. Allows me to have a network printer now and my repeater for my PS3 doesn't lose any signal strength at all. I get 45mbps from LAN and 45mbps from wifi and 45mbps from my repeater on LAN and wifi. Everything is at max.
Great router and I am always happy to promote a great product.
Just grab a copy of wireshark, install on a laptop or pc and filter out your cell to determine what its doing. Shouldn't frame you more than 5 mins.

I did a hard reset and am now working properly.
I apologize for not diagnosing the issue to find the root of the problem. I know that would have been useful. For now, the fix is HARD RESET.

***UPDATE***
After the initial WIFI issues I had were inexplicably resolved with a hard reset, I ended up having a dead pixel and had the device replaced.
The replacement device was great out of the box, from approximately April 25th to May 6th. Yesterday, May 7 2013, I had a notification for an update to "Sprint Zone." I allowed the update. Upon the completed installation of the Sprint update my WIFI issues returned. I uninstalled all Sprint related services I could and stopped the ones I could not. Still the WIFI issue remained. I once again was only able to remedy the problem with a hard reset. There is obviously an issue with the relationship between Sprint software and the WIFI hardware, and it is not isolated to a particular device. The device was brand new at the time of my original post and has since fallen off the first few pages that get trolled. We are nearing one month in service of this device and I can't believe that I am the only one to have experienced it.

I am having this issue as well.
Really shouldn't have switched to Sprint as I am in LA and wow, the network is trash compared to Verizon over here. Unusable in most areas.
Anyway, rooted, on d3rpone , 4 different releases of it, same wifi issue.

A couple of quick ideas: First, you might want to see if whether it's specific to 2.4 or 5 gHz bands. I expect not, but worth looking. Also, maybe try disabling notifications in Sprint Zone -- maybe the stupid thing is phoning home a lot? Once you're sure you don't have a hardware problem, you might also want to consider unlocking and running Viper - that decruds a lot.

Thanks for the input. I will be switching to Viper if I have the issue again.
I did try selecting specific WIFi bands, as well as using the "auto" option. No change.
My phone never caused any issues with my DD-WRT router (Linksys e3000). Can't even replicate now.

Wi-Fi issues on BLU R1 HD (even after multiple resets)

Hi guys, help a n00b out.
This is my first Android phone, but I'm technically proficient, generally (was a sysadmin in an alternate timeline).
Non, rooted, Amazon variant (with ads), 2GB/16GB version of the phone.
Wifi will stop working several times a day depending upon consumption (more frequently if I'm spending lots of time on YouTube, otherwise just once a day). Wifi is still connected, still reporting connection and activity on the status bar, but nothing's coming in or going out, not even a basic google search.
What I've tried that does not fix the issue:
Turning WiFi off and then on
Forgetting the Wifi profile and reconnecting
Rebooting the router
Updating the routers' firmware (Apple Airport, bleh)
Moving to a different wifi AP (in another building)
Setting up a static IP address and using Google's 8.8.8.8 DNS sever
Factory reset from the settings app (under "Backup and Reset")
Hard reset/wipe from the bootloader (holding down power and volume up while the phone is shut off, going into recovery mode, etc.)
The only thing that works is to reboot, and that is only worth a few hundred megs of transfer or so, and then Wifi is locked up again.
I've had the wifi die within an hour of a reboot.
I'm a Realtor, and use my phone for work, so obviously this is a pain.
The problem is fairly recent, only occurring in the past month or so. I wonder if the v.9 OTA update did it. I didn't play extremely close attention to the updates.
Any ideas, guys? I've taken every troubleshooting step I can think to take.

Wanted to add that I've tried Wifi-fix apps like FXR (can't find it on the play store anymore).
Wifi Fixer seems to crash as soon as I turn on Wifi. Strange.
I don't even get the "Connected. No Internet" error for long. It *thinks* that Wifi is working fine, but it doesn't work at all.
Also, I'm not able to ping local computers or computers on the internet (in case that helps with troubleshooting).

Further clarification: The wifi problem showed up within a couple hours of hard-resetting the phone. There was no lag.
Also, I was wrong in the previous clarification. When I pinged 8.8.8.8, 1 out of 3 pings came back ok. That is reallllly weird! None of the pings came back when pinging a local computer, but that might be a firewall issue. When I ping the router itself (192.168.1.1), I get 1 out of three come back.
When I do 10 pings to the router, I get erratic results. Sometimes I get none back, sometimes 7.
I have no problems pinging 8.8.8.8 over LTE.
One thing I notice is that it has a tendency to say "SAVED," and stay disconnected. I have to remind it to actually connect to the AP several times, and then it does (but of course it doesn't actually work).
FYI, turning off bluetooth and turning it on again SEEMS to fix the issue.
Will keep trying to see if this is a reliable fix.
Anyone else seen this?

have not seen this problem on any of my R1 but the typical "fix" for failing connections is to toggle airplane mode, on and off

Thanks! I don't know if that does anything more than just turning WiFi off and on (which I've tried), but I discovered today that toggling bluetooth seems to fix it, so I'm guessing that toggling Airplane mode would fix it as well.
Thanks for the info! I'm sure I've seen that suggestion before, don't know why I haven't tried it. Probably didn't realize that toggling Airplane does more than just cycling the Wi-Fi itself.

Yes toggling airplane mode forces a full reset of all the radio stacks. Just toggling wifi by itself does not reset the driver only the interface

Glad you shared this. I'm also having WiFi problems and it's driving me nuts. I couldn't figure out if it was my ISP, my router or the phone itself. The symptoms are similar to those that you describe.
Toggling airplane mode seems to fix it, but just for a few minutes.
I'm also on V9 but it was happening on V8.7 too.
I'll try to get a log to share.

There may be a deeper issue. Blu had initially pulled there 8.5 update because of many connection issues after the ota.
They supposedly fixed it with 8.6
Maybe similar issue as you are having.

Man, I'm sorry the airplane mode doesn't fix your phone for more than a few minutes. I only have to reset airplane mode every few days now.
The other big thing I did was do a hard reset of the phone from the bootloader, and set it up all over again.
If airplane mode isn't helping, a hard reset might help (although I understand it's realllly painful to do.)
If it helps, I use an IFTTT recipe to back up my SMS to spreadsheets on google drive -- but this only works in real time, not as a retroactive backup.
Here's the instructions for doing the hard reset

I've got the same issues with my R1 HD. I have airplane mode turned on, but I haven't tried toggling it on and off. I don't want to have to resort to the hard reset, but I'm willing to try it if nothing else.

What I've learned from previous replies is that toggling airplane mode on and off does a more complete reset of the networking software than just turning wifi on and off.
Do any of you guys have issues with Google Assistant not wanting to text anyone? It's driving me nuts!

I've had the wifi die within an hour of a reboot.
I'm a Realtor, and use my phone for work, so obviously this is a pain.
The problem is fairly recent, only occurring in the past month or so. I wonder if the v.9 OTA update did it. I didn't play extremely close attention to the updates.
Any ideas, guys? I've taken every troubleshooting step I can think to take.

It seems that you tried almost everything.
If you root the phone with Magisk you could install a wide range of apps that would improve WIfi. Unfortunately, I am not sure if Magisk will work on a Blu phone.
For now maybe try using, the DNS Changer app from Google play. It does not require root and will allow you to lock into 8.8.8.8 within your phone.
Next, in your router there should be an option to scan the 2.5 ghz channel range and automatically select one that is not being used by your neighbors. Finally, its quite possible that the update caused the issue. It seems that Blu has had quite a few issues with their recent system updates. Whenever, you can afford it. Get rid of the phone. You can buy the Le Eco Pro 3 on Amazon for $178...it has a Snapdragon 821 processor!
By the way, I own two Blu phones: both are now in a box. I replaced both phones with Le Eco pro 3. Best phone I have ever owned.

Unfortunately, the DNS change doesn't help the problem I had. I tried to manually set the DNS to 8.8.8.8, but it still wouldn't connect to anything. I just think BLU's firmware isn't all that great, and I don't know if they have any actual form of service (other than the extended warranty I was silly enough to purchase). Thank goodness for xda, because I now have a very effective workaround that I only have to use once a day or so (and that doesn't take a long time to cycle through).
The reason I didn't try harder to troubleshoot the wifi network itself is that this phone does the same thing at home, at work, and at Starbucks, and taking it from one place to another doesn't reset the issue. Wifi is just BROKE. Also, none of our other devices (two laptops, two desktops, three iphones, and three iPads) have any such problems.
LeEco sounds like an interesting budget phone. I'm a little wary of budget phones after my BLU, though, since the BLU had relatively glowing reviews initially. I might try saving up for an LG or something. The reviews on the BLU were pretty high, but the performance and stability didn't last very long. Some apps are painfully slow to use, although the system in general is tolerable. I'll keep it for a year (until June) and then look at other options
Are there any good sites to find out about quality budget phones? The budget phones that carriers push are really crappy, Amazon seems rather haphazard, and most of the big Android websites mostly push the very expensive stuff.

Le Eco isn't a Budget phone. It is a top tier phone that has few peers among 2016 phones.
If you look at the specs of the Le Eco Pro 3 Us version ( X727) vs a One Plus 3 T, or One Plus 5 ( $450-$600) range phones or compare it to a Samsung S7 or S8 and you will see that the specs are very similar.
The reason, the Le Eco Pro 3 phone is cheap ( $179) is because they more or less went out of business in the US, due to foolish expansion spending. But, I can not recommend these phones enough. They will be supported by members of XDA for the next few years. Even the $139 Le Eco S3 has a Snap dragon 625 processor! If you do end up buying one, PM me and I will be happy help you with getting it configured.

Plus, you can pretty much put any version of Android on these phones, including the new Pixel Camera!
I realize this may not be your thing. if you want something safe and inexpensive maybe go for a Motorola G5, or a Honor 6. Both are outstanding phones supported by solid companies.
Back to Blu, they do indeed have a tech support number: US: 1-877-602-8762.
If your phone is under warranty, from what I have read they will repair it. Although it could take up to a week. If you by chance bought the phone on Amazon. They have a A to Z guarantee and will give you a refund for up to 90 days after purchase. Plus, you could have your refund in a couple of days.
In the end, I agree that your issue is related to the firmware.
It really does sound like you tried everything to resolve the issue. But, did you try resetting the phone? If not, that may work.
My daughter has a Blu R1 HD that I just replaced with a Le Eco S3. ( For her major upgrade) But, the Blu R1 HD is actually a decent phone. It just sounds like their update caused a corruption issue. In my experience these issues are common in phones that have a locked boot-loader. So It is likely a permissions conflict that you probably will not be able to solve without Blu's help or maybe just resetting the phone.

By any chance, do you have the amazon prime music app installed? If yes could you try uninstalling it and reboot. Oddly enough for me it seemed to restore a normal wifi that after removing it from my phone. So far I'm thinking it's not really related, but well don't really hurt to test.

That's wild! As far as I know, you can't uninstall it, but you can disable it. I've disabled it, so we'll see if that helps.
Sounds like a long shot, but you never know!

Mines been disabled and my phone has WiFi issues every so often so it can't be related to that app.
It would have surprised me if it was that too, the app have been updated a few times already an problem were still there.
An other possible explanation is that this app was responsible for most of my WiFi data use, so maybe it's working for me just because now I basically don't use as much wifi as I used with the app installed.

So I am having serious wifi issues since I installed my Google Home. I use a chromecast too, but I think it's safe to say that it's the Home device that f-ed up wifi network.
I did read all the articles back i January/February that I was not alone with the issue, and as far as I understand - Google rolled out a fix about a month ago.
However, I am still having issues. My wifi drops for no reason (on all devices at the same time, phones included) for a few seconds and then comes back up. I've tried rebooting the router, and updating firmware on the router but no help. Today I pulled the plug to the Google Home until this has been fully resolved.
I love my Home and would like to have it connected. Did the correction that Google rolled out solve it for everyone else here or does anyone still have issues - or is it just me?
How can I see what firmware/software I am running on the Home? I have obviously tried to ask it, but it responds "this is not supported yet".
Any ideas?

I had the same problem on my main router, so I tried connecting it to my secondary router, and it worked, but since that one was supposed to be for the other part of the house, I got a cheapest used router I could (doesn't even support n standard) and created a separate network with different SSID, now I use it only to connect google home devices, chromecasts and other smart home wifi devices, and it works (it still uses my main router's DHCP server, and network, it is just AP with a different SSID), oh and I use channel 6 on that router btw.

Ok, i feel my networking knowledge can come handy here! Lol. Home,three chromcasts, firetv, firestick x2; Nghthawk x8000->asusrtac68u->lan2wanWNR1000(for old 2nd gen sony bluray dlna and one roomstreaming)+wirelessLinksysEA6350->asusrtac88u. Yes, intriguing network! 6bdrm 3300sqft house. Biggest ever afforded! So, needless to say i pay TWC for 100Mbps, capping at 230mbps on the rtac68u ethernet bridge to wired desktop! All running my own modified compiled tomatousb. Linksysea6350 is ddwrt, kongbuild and a PIA so thats w/e stock kong wanted. Well safe to say ive been at making all this work!! What i need from you is topology and setup, running broadcoms or others? I find broadcom way easier to mess with. Second, you running custom or boxed units? And third is the google products subnetted (more of a b***h if you ask me!) And connected 2.4 or 5? N or AC? And how are you allocating resources? IE using QOS or similar? If you can't answer those im need (if unboxed and freed) "logcats", iptables, etc.. more than safe to say, the home not the culprit in sense to it "drowning" out the wifi band, but could for drown resources, IE low grade hardware, hardware beginning stages of failure and one extra workhorse did it, RAM, eMMC, getting the gist? Im gonna say w/slight certainty you might be rebooting not wifi actually cutting out. You also could if custom firmware corrupted something that the home doesnt like. But wont know w/out the numbers to look at. All i got from you is, either a LAN2LAN or bridge as i read your main hib is the DHCP, and is the SSID you "created" a subnet? And your "30" dollar router also could not be up to task.
And sorry if the reply is anything not right, first post ever here! Years of only reading lol. And something wrong with my cheap phone cracked screen phone replacement everytime keyboard is opened! I use a dedicated connection for all things GH related. This stopped the wifi dropout.

MI8 Wifi "no access to internet" problem with MIUI 12.5 EU ROM

I downloaded the 12.5 version while testing out some other ROMs since I like using MIUI unlike many people and I know Xiaomi would not full fill their global update promise for mi8 since its been like a year after they announced that 12.5 would come for mi8 as the last update. Only problem I have with it is the fact that I need to go into wifi settings and pick the wifi I want to connect for it to connect it, every god damn time. Then it says there is no internet connection and if I want to keep it or not and I say keep it then it starts functioning like it should. I don't understand why it keeps saying "there is no internet connection" in a wifi network while obviously there is nothing wrong with the wifi itself. In the original MIUI 12 version it instantly connected to existing wifi networks when it entered their range, automatically without me having to open the wifi settings. I tried resetting wifi settings and opening and closing the auto connect option as it was recommended in some videos but nothing helped.
So at the end it doesn't connect wifi networks because it thinks there is no internet connection at them and keeps using mobile data until I manually force it to connect. I eventually got use to it after a month or so but it is still bugging me. The phone is rooted and I am using add away, which did cause other problems in the past so I am kinda suspicious of it. Spotify is kinda busted with this ROM and I get like 2 hours and a half hours of screen time while scrolling through reddit at most which is stupid but the general inconvenience of using this is not greater then going through the suffering of loading a new ROM and reinstalling all of the stuff so can anyone help me to make it a less suffering experience. My battery is new but it is old stock from 2018 so it is as **** as the one it had inside for 3 years since Xiaomi doesn't provide new ones like Apple and Samsung as much as I understand. I will not buy a new phone since technological improvements stopped 4 years ago except useless cameras which I never use because the sensor size is too small anyway and you can't beat physics no matter how much post progressing you apply in phone camera software. Sorry for the long rant, I just felt the need of writing that last part out of boredom.
