We are very excited to announce the release of Paranoid Android Quartz, based on Android 10.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. For those who are unfamiliar, Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhances the overall user experience. This time around he have his wallpaper app Abstruct, were you will be able to find all of the Paranoid Android wallpapers alongside a huge amount of amazing wallpapers.
Our builds are based on the Code Aurora Forum Android base, which is optimized for Qualcomm platforms and has a higher degree of performance, battery life, and functionality compared to the Android Open Source Project platform. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features, performance, and stability. We are dedicated to providing a user experience with the stability that you can expect from stock ROMs with best-in-class performance and features to help you get the most out of your device.

Hello,
I flashed my A1 with the latest ROM. When I boot up, a black screen is shown with only the time displayed on the extreme left hand side of the screen. Also the phone is stuck in a boot loop. What could have gone wrong? When I tried flashing gapps I got an error saying my android version is 9 and the gapps is made for version 10. HELP.
P.S. I unlocked my bootloader now for the first time on this device.

Hello Dev, Even I'm facing the issue of stuck in booting logo. Clean flashed the ROM and waited for more than 10mins, but still stuck in booting sequence.
Steps I followed:
Flash tissot_images_V10.0.23.0.PDHMIXM_20200707.0000.00_9.0_b49c1d0e32 via fastboot(complete wipe).
Boot into official TWRP twrp-3.4.0-0-tissot.img and wipe all partition.
Fastboot boot TWRP and flashed the ROM(pa-quartz-4-tissot-20200723-dev.zip) with TWRP zip
Reboot into TWRP and flash OpenGapps Nano 18/07 build and Magisk v20.4(also tried without Magisk on third try)
Boot into system. Here it is stuck on bootlogo for a while.
Have tried the above mentioned(minus fastboot flash of stock ROM) steps thrice. First tried with /Data partition formated to F2FS format which resulted in boot loop. Thought F2FS might not be supported, hence converted back to EXT4 and tried once again from beginning. But still the same result. The third try was without Magisk.

I'm using nitrogen oreo with sinai kernel, it's okay if i just flash the rom(clean installation) ?
Big comeback!:good:
Only one issue is interesting.
How this ROM handles the services that consume the battery, compared to other ROMs from Oreo.
tried using pico version of Gapps and got 'insufficient storage space in system partition'
how to fix, please?

Code:
Insufficient storage space available in
System partition. You may want to use a
smaller Open GApps package or consider
removing some apps using google config.
See '[Your Path]open_gapps_log.txt'
for complete details and information.
For now, we have a ROM for testing.
So, either you can read messages and customize the installation of gapps,
or wait patiently for a version with more free space in the system partition.

Did you do a clean flash aka wipe everything except internal storage (TWRP's advanced wipe option)?
What root solution (which magisk if at all, stable or beta)?
GApps, custom kernel, any Mods?

Support is based upon the modem, which is the same across ROMs (since you do not generally flash a new modem with them), if you want LTE, you'll need to flash the hybrid modem in the forums.
Also, keep in mind that the Nexus 4 only supports a single 4G band, so you'll need to check whether your provider supports it, and that it has coverage in your area (highly unlikely, since this band is mostly used by T-Mobile inthe US).

I'm no developer yet, and certainly not the maintainer here, but have you modified the ROM ins any way (uninstalling system apps, installing a custom kernel, installing Xposed, etc.)?
And also, do you have logs.
To fix an issue, one must first find it's cause.

Thanks for updating this ROM to this date!
Had an unfortunate event with my tissot, so I have to use mako as my main device for a week. This ROM runs well, no bugs, and it has lots of unique customizations! It feels really good to use with my N4. Hopefully I'll fix my Mi A1 in a week. Until then, I'll try to use Nexus 4 in mid 2018 with this Rom
Thanks again! I hope you update it regulary in the future, too, as I'll use this as my favorite second device even after a week!

followed the steps for installing this from android P stock since it had microstutters that bothered me but was nothing severe....coming from xiaomi devices i was used to the features available both in the stock rom and in custom roms....the pixel stock rom is sooo basic ...i knew it was vanilla android but i still wasnt prepared for how barebones it was...I needed "my stuff" to be comfortable with it....after flashing RR rom and vendor images....it boots up then restarts like 4 seconds later after displaying the home screen....after rolling back to P the same thing happens...what did i do wrong here?something I overlooked or something?any help would be appreciated this is my main phone still.

If you want to flash this you have to first flash the latest oreo factory image so that your phone have the correct bootloader, radio and vendor image.. after flashing factory image just flash the rr rom and reboot into recovery one more time and flash the gapps package . You don't have to flash the vendor image individually. ? Same goes for android P.

Thats what i did,but my device would crash immediately it got to the home screen i flashed the vendor images as well.I managed to install the stock Oreo rom and it doesn't reboot loop anymore....but i cant do playstore app updates or phone ota to P....it shuts down immediately if i try to do so ,requiring me to hold PWR for 30 seconds before its back up again.Sync also causes crash.its possible to flash opengapps on stock rom? since im guessing maybe its outdated play services causing this particular issue.
? September patch please
"Copy your data" in google transfer tool crashes...

ROM in early development stage, released just for pie preview. needs testing
Awesome! Thanks for this!
Edit: Is it recommended to be on August or September build?
Sweet! Want to give this a shot, but I am a bit unsure how to flash gapps with it. I searched the other build's forum, and couldn't see on it either. Do I flash build, boot, then flash gapps, like on other A/B devices? Or do I just flash gapps at ROM installation?
Is TWRP built in?
Does this use an EAS kernel?
So I attempted to flash, but I am getting the error stating I am using an incorrect version gapps. States I am running 8.1, not 9. Anyone else have any ideas?
EDIT: I was able to modify the installer sh to force it to install, but every copy of gapps prompts and states there is not enough space in the system partition.

Gapps screws up sometimes. Try remounting system and vendor while in twrp, reboot recovery then try flashing gapps again. I bet it works.

I already removed rounded corners in the upcoming build. Also it's stated in second post that it's early development stage, so don't expect everything to work properly. It's still experimental and we don't even have official lineage sources for mata. So thanks to @KuranKaname for his work
That full screen apps feature is lineage stuff. I already did what I could to add it on mata. From the comments on gerrit we can read:
I don't have an exact example app in mind but >=O apps can still manually limit maxAspectRatio to lower values like 1.86 or 2.1 (which could be obsolete for future long long screens). (It is not you are >= O so you are good with long screens)

We’re really excited to announce the release of Paranoid Android Pie betas.
The beta builds include adjustments and improvements on top of the stock Android CAF base. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features.
Device-specific issues
- "Fingerprint Hardware Not Available" can occur
Note: Custom kernels are NOT supported!

This is awesome! I first used PA back when it's biggest feature was navbar and status bar colors. Super excited to be downloading it now.
Is twrp not working due to the official release that hasn't been updated?
Anyone have screenshots?
Is there a reason for fastboot w? Is this rom currently decrypted?
Awesome. I do have one correction, though: most recent TWRP builds DO have touch support, mainly if it's installed via the flashable zip OR with the patched boot img for stock. Just figured I'd mention that.

Looks like there's a bootloop issue installing magisk and flashing twrp from the installer zip to both partitions, anyone else have this issue?
Edit: Looks like after installing the ROM - it overwrites the recovery flash from the above-patched twrp (Jan-Patch from Reddit source), it then just forces the boot to hang.
Edit 2:Looks like I got it to work, after installing the ROM, reboot back into recovery mode, flash the jan-patch twrp img again using fastboot.
Edit 3: Nope looks like a persistent bootloop. Gonna leave this ROM alone until it gets magisk and a proper TWRP fixed

Looks like the boot loop issue is occurring on both this ROM and the AOSIP ROM, leads me to believe this might be an issue with the patched TWRP possibly?
Anybody able to get this working with gapps? If I flash the rom it boots fine. If I flash twrp with it, it boots fine. But once I try to flash gapps it just hangs on the aospa boot animation
I tried with opengapps pico and nano as well as simplegapps

I'm running aosip rom at the moment. I use the twrp installer each and every time I flash something. In the same session

Are we talking about the same thing? The patch image in this thread or the original TWRP img from the original TWRP website?
After installing I can no longer access adb or fastboot commands, tried multiple devices, they all still detect my V40 in ADB but not the PH-1, any idea why?
Thanks for the ROM all wok good
This is how I install it
Flash ROM from twrp
Flash twrp installer
Reboot to twrp
Flash magisk
Reboot to system
Reboot to twrp
Flash gapps (micro)
Done

2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. 4) Join our Discord server or Telegram group! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
Install Instructions:
Other than previously provided ROMs, this is using the "normal" method of providing a flashable zip.
You should start off with the latest OxygenOS on both slots and then proceed to flash Carbon.
You must at least use TWRP 3.4.0-1 by @mauronofrio to flash this.
Download the ROM and optionally GApps, reboot to TWRP.
Flash the ROM
Reboot recovery (to switch between slots)
Flash GApps (optional)
Format /data*
Done
*As TWRP is currently unable to format /data you can use fastboot to format
Code:
fastboot -w
It appears that fastboot on Windows has issues with the wipe command. In that case use both of the following commands
Code:
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase metadata

Perks of flashing ROMs at 5AM, FIRST!!
Wow! Another rom awesome job!
let the ROMs start yeahhh
More roms!!! Yaaas
If coming by from another rom, do I just format data first and then flash Carbon or should I reflash OOS on both slots again?
@Myself5, you say to reboot twrp in between for flashing gapps to another partition. Do I read it right? Or do we need to flash the rom again to another partition after rebooting twrp

I am always doing both ..just to be sure and to eliminate bugs
great work!
We dont need to format user data if you are on OOS do you?
Please do look into adding more space for GAPPs as I prefer to use mini
does oneplus 8 work?
so for me this doesnt work and i dunno what i am doing wrong.
flashed oos to both slots, flashed your twrp, flashed rom, reboot to recovery and device doesnt decrypt so no gapps to install. booting up ends in sticking at carbon boot logo.
Hey ! Do you add face unlock ??
I updated the flashing instruction in OP to reflect on various ways to format /data as TWRP is currently not able to do so.
You can either use fastboot to format
fastboot -w

or if that fails (which has been reported of being an issue with fastboot on Windows) flash THIS userdata.img using
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img

EDIT: As of TWRP 3.4.0-1 by @mauronofrio you can flash Carbon with that just fine.
I discovered Bluetooth is broken in yesterdays build. This has been fixed in CARBON-CR-8.0-PAX-UNOFFICIAL-instantnoodlep-20200627-1418 which has just been uploaded.
Note: During the tests today I noticed that GApps seems to be finniky when updating. When I flashed Gapps I sometimes ended up in a bootloop because some parts of GApps were missing despite them flashing successfully in TWRP. Force rebooting and flashing them again fixed that. It is yet to be determined if this is a ROM or a TWRP issue but I am working with @mauronofrio on fixing the issue.
