Disable notifications persist after quick reply "feature" - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

As you may already know, Android Pie introduced a "feature" that defines what happens with a notification in notification tray after we use Reply option for that particular notification, meaning that if we receive a notification and reply using the 'reply' feature of the notification, the notification and reply both persist in the system notification tray.
This "feature" really annoys me and it's an important reason for me to stick to MIUI based ROMs, because in these ROMs this feature is absent.
So, I'm asking the people that have the know-how:
Is it possible for end user to remove this "feature" from an AOSP based ROM for Mi 9T Pro? As long as Xiaomi did it, it can be done. Is it hard to remove it? Does it involve "things" that only ROM developers could acquire?

From what I've seen, notification persists in miui 12 after replying, atleast for Discord

Notification shade on MIUI Global Stable 9.2.1.0

Hi all,
this morning I updated to the last Global Stable version, 9.2.1.0. Among the many new things, the main I was expected was the new notification shade, with grouped notifications, quick replies, etc etc.
However I still see the old system...
Is it only me? If not, is there any option to set/modify?
Thank you in advance

was the new notification shade included in the 9.2.1.0 changelog? maybe a clean install / factory reset with clean install could help.
Thanks for your answer jbmc,
I've read this article on XDA:
https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-miui-9-2-global-stable-rollout/
Where is clearly written:
Most of the other changes are aesthetic. MIUI 9.2’s revamped notifications shade features bundled notifications, which group multiple notifications together on a per-app basis, and quick reply, an Android Nougat-like option that allows you respond to SMS messages and emails directly from the corresponding notification
However looking better at Mi Max 2 changelog there are only some referrals about "UI improvements", without specifying anything clear about notifications.
A bit confusing for a MIUI newbie like me . Starting to like the MIUI however still strongly convinced that Android "stock" is better at the end, meaning I feel much more free to change and adapt to my tastes the phone.
At the moment, only Global Developer ROM has the new notification shade.

Thanks for confirmation! Now I've "simply" to decide if wait for it in Global Stable, switch to Global Developer, or wait for a 8.1 AOSP/AOKP Rom...

Status bar and lockscreen notifications

So I just got my Mi 9 after deciding to move over from my Samsung galaxy S8. I don't understand what the hell is going on with the notifications it's really putting me off this phone after using for 2 days. From the lockscreen I can't see any notifications. Status bar just shows the time. I've checked "show icons for incoming notifications" in the notifications and status bar settings. However it only shows the icons for a few seconds before showing the clock again. Pretty inconvenient that I have to unlock and swipe the status bar down just to see my notifications.
I find it ridiculous that all these manufactures are making funny notches and cutout around the screen to increase screen-to-body ratio and increase size but fail to use all that space extra space to not only enhance user experience but to show important information that I could see easily on my previous smaller screen devices.
Am I missing something or is this how Xiaomi intend their users to view notifications?
Yes, that is the way to show notifications. I come from Mi 8 and it was the same. I'm really waiting for a update soon, because this mistake again is unacceptable.

Bump. I read the problem was solved in a recent OTA but it's not for me. My notifications disappear after a second. It's very frustrating
Any update here? This Feature/Bug ist unacceptable!

Yes, it seems to be solved since version 17 of stable ROM together with the toggle to disable the artificial rouding of the notch but for some reason this update was not pushed OTA to everyone.
I'm stuck on version 15. Maybe they found bugs and pulled it or it's only available for some other chanels (on EEA here)...
Do you have a screenshot of the fix? I am on version 15 too. Cant wait for fix...

I am on EEA 17, it's not fixed there. It's only fixed in global betas, which we can't get without unlocking bootloader.
Only disabling the notch extra rounding is there, but no notification icons, which is indeed stupid.
Maybe for some guys a quick help:
Search for Notch Notifications for MIUI.
That way notifications get shown under the clock...
New problem after it was fixed by Xiaomi
If u hide the notch, the notifications cut off right before the notch even tho there isn't a notch preventing them

Its like that now on Android, it only shows 5 icons. On my Mi A2 running Android One, it would cut even if there is no notch. Worse, it does that even on the system icons at the right.

Ow thanks for that insightful comment. Huh, didn't realise that's the case. Wondering how i didn't notice this when I had OnePlus 5T where I used Oxygen OS, some AOSP based and some Lineage OS based ROMs on pie but somehow didn't take notice. Maybe the status bar was shorter on it causing smaller icons so more fit in that width. Or maybe because this one has curve in corners unlike 5T which reduces usable space

Xiaomi Mi 8 notifications still an issue?

Hi,
I am considering getting a Xiaomi Mi 8 secodn hand but the notification issue really worries me.
I have read loads of stuff but most things seem to be from 2018 so was wondering what the latest is......
MIUI 10 will support notifications but cant see a recent conformation of this
Notch Notifications for MIUI app works, but the latest review says the latest update broke it
Ive read this https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/how-to/notifications-mi8-pocophone-f1-t3847755 about KLWP and super notch does that still work ok?
The guy who is selling it says they dont appear in either corner of the notch, but they do appear on the lock screen, anyway to improve on this?
Thanks
The only way to get notifications besides the notch is with a 3rd party app. On the stock rom they appear but then dissapear. I dont know which app works or not but those were the most popular ones
In the offical beta, the notifications are working correctly and they dont dissapear.
Thanks for your replies, I bought a pixel instead as i couldnt not have the notifications

EMUI vs MIUI info needed

I might be moving from a Xiaomi phone to a Huawei one soon. The following I found most annoying things in MIUI(latest version) so I want to know how many of these things I am going to experience in EMUI too.
1. Lockscreen notifications disappear after unlocking the phone even if the notifications have not been cleared. Notifications that you receive while screen on will never make it to the lockscreen.
2. Google Smart Lock does not work and Xiaomi does not provide any alternative of their own.
3. The camera app does not have an option to review picture immediately after taking it.
4. Auto brightness is not adjustable and is simply a one size fits all option.
5. The DND mode cannot ONLY silent notifications. Notification and ringtone volume cannot be unlinked either so there is no easy way to silence all notifications.
Furthermore as I understand both of these skins have very aggressive battery management. MIUI does allow me to whitelist apps to exclude from that. Does Huawei offer this option too?
Lastly I read somewhere that you can't reply on a lock screen notification in EMUI? Is that still the case with the latest version?

Xiaomi Mi 9 notifications - still not working

MIUI 12 fixed a few things, but notifications are still a bit random. Some of them show on the lockscreen/AOD. Some of them remain on the AOD even after unlocking/relocking. Some of them don't.
Why? Is there a way to keep AOD notification icons for all apps?
