I'm trying to make a dedicated device to plug into my Pioneer Headunit that connects via USB and run android auto. I can find an apk to run android auto, but when connecting USB A to USB A the Head Unit (Pioneer AVH-2330NEX) doesn't see it as a phone or connect. Is there anyway to get android auto to connect to car stereo?
Thank you

Greetings,
I tired to install AA apk on my Nexus 9, have my tablet connected to a WiFi network using Mifi hot spot, then bluetooth tethered my tablet to my AA compatible car (2016 Accord), and plugged my tablet via USB to the can, on the tablet the AA launches but on the vehicle display it shows "loading" then it can't connect. Is there a way to use my Nexus 9 tablet to run AA in my AA compatible car?
Using same USB cable, I tried using a test phone Samsung S7 Edge (bluetooth tethered and plugged into USB) and it worked right away, I don't want to use data from my phone, need to use the Mifi
thanks
Is it possible to have the raspberry pi (version 2) connected to the infotainment system of my car, working as a slave unit and then, connect my phone to the raspberry pi via wifi, and have a wireless android auto connection as soon as i enter my car?
Hi! Im wondering if there is a adapter to plug any HDMI device to an AA headunit? I think the dongle must run an Android OS which let the headunit think there is a AA smartphone connected. But the dongle will stream the HDMI input via USB as AA stream.
I searched for HDMI to Android Auto adapter but there are only tons of adapters to convert an android headunit to Android Auto and CarPlay compabillity.
If such a dongle doesn’t exist yet... may it be possible to realize this with a raspberry pi?
Also interested in this, please someone answer.
I don't know if the product below is what you need.

If you need to link the Android host to the screen with MDMI, you need to confirm whether your Android host supports this function.
Hello, I have an idea how we can make the current Android Auto completely WIRELESS.
Idea is as follows:
Plug a micro Dongle in the car's USB port.
The Dongle will essentially be a WiFi Tranciever. (it may need custom code/firmware etc.)
The Dongle will talk to the Android Phone over WiFi (Because Bluetooth is already being used by Android Auto).
A custom program will be running on the Android phone to send ALL USB Data to the Dongle using WiFi.
Suggested Dongle models:
Xbee, Arduino with WiFi module, any other similar board, possibly any cheap Chinese WiFi USB dongle available on Ebay/Aliexpress.
Things to consider:
The Car's infotainment must recognize the Dongle when it is plugged in as a "USB device" (not a USB Stick/Flash Drive !!!)
The Dongle may need custom code/firmware that will start sending packets to the car's infotainment as soon as it is connected/powered up/car ignition is on, in order to Emulate a phone running android auto.
In the mean time, the app running on the phone will already be connected to the Dongle and the two will be talking to each other.
I you have any other suggestions, leave a comment bellow.
PS: Such devices (USB Over the Air) are actually available on the market, but are quite bulky. We need something smaller.
But even if it is big, we can use a Micro USB plug like this one with flat cable, that will run in the Phone tray, where the board will be hidden so it will not be visible at all!!! :good::laugh:

Just cut the other end of the flat cable if needed and solder as necessary.
Again, if you have specific ideas/suggestions leave a comment bellow.

I recently purchased a DVR that is designed for Android app. I grabbed a USB OTG adapter and I can see the DVR as a USB storage device no problem. Butt when I install the app that comes with the device, it does not see the camera.
Is there a way to make a usb camera work with a phone instead of android auto?
