Has anyone tried their ROMs?
As far as I know, the Honor Note 8 is based on the same Kirin 955 (Hi3650) platform as the:
Honor V8, P9, P9 Plus
and the Kirin 950s (also Hi3650) - Honor 8, Honor V8, Mate 8.
HN8 isn't listed as supported, and I imagine that's probably because it's a rare device outside China as it never launched internationally. Hopefully rather than some kind of strange hardware difference that SNAFUs everything.
The Android 8 / EMUI 8 kernel source is available at http://download-c1.huawei.com/downl...oadId=99970&version=425799&siteCode=worldwide so if it does need something added to make their ROMs compatible, is it possible that it's going to happen?
I bought one due to it being the very last of the big screen 16:9 devices. The camera I don't really care about, as I've decided the best solution is a big screen and big battery, and a Sony RX100 with Wifi / NFC / BT. Selling my P20 Pro as the screen's too small and narrow, and development has been killed stone dead due to the no more bootloader unlocks.
Anyway, can anyone shed some light?
I have not tried it, but i read some feedback from other people that have installed it on their Honor Note 8.
It works, but it is slower. Especially when scrolling, there is noticeable lag and it is not smooth compared to stock rom. I wish there was a better rom, but it seems stock is still the best.
I searched the threads and couldn't find any mention. Do you remember where or when? It may be that optimisation for the 955 has been improved significantly since then. Though I suppose by the same token it could be total lack of HN8 optimisation that's the issue.
I haven't uninstalled the stock system apps and Google Play Services framework yet, but I have disabled them all, revoked all permissions and installed lightweight alternatives. It's a lot better, but still quite a way off LOS / AOSP based ROMs that I'm used to. General speed is decent, but there are quite frequent stutters and slow responses.
How does the latest versions of Kang compare? Much quicker?
Have the updates (application only) past B528 sped things up significantly? Chinese forums seem to indicate that B533 or later will go full release in the next week or two.

Thanks. Dunno why search function didn't pick that up ... I'm not very keen on its implementation on XDA forums.
Anyway, sounds positive. If official HN8 and Hi3650 support came only with the last (August) update, then I think there's considerable hope for improvement.
AOSP / LOS / RR really should be a lot faster and smoother than EMUI 8 for HN8 in its stock form ... there's so much crap on it, and some of the stock apps are really bulky.
On that note, I'd strongly recommend that anyone who's on stock disables and revokes permissions from the Huawei Gallery app and installs an open, lightweight alternative. I'm using the Gallery from Simple Tools and have it set as default. Massive improvement in speed and lack of lag. The Huawei one slows things down seemingly even when open in the app drawer but not focused.
i tried it ... issue is mainly, that only sim slot 2 works - which also serves as sdcard-slot for me a no-go but if you don't use an sdcard, try it out.
Also, camera didn't work at all
Going to wait until the next OK release of LOS / RR.

New Resurrection Remix version is out, including network switch fix and screen tearing fix (the scrolling performance issue) on Hi3650 (HN8 is Hi3650) devices.
Assume new LOS version will be forthcoming very soon too.
Will probably wait for that, but if anyone tries the RR, do post your experience. Particularly those who've tried the much better (than 528) 535 stock.
Notes:
fixed in-call mute (Thanks to Flex1911)
fixed ussd codes (Thanks to Flex1911)
fixed network switch on hi3650 based devices
added the option to disable fast charging (Settings -> About -> OpenKirin)
september 2018 security patches
based on final rr 6.2.0 sources
REUPLOAD: fixed screen tearing on hi3650
Have you tried this new version?
Is the problem with sim and with camera solved?
Hi guys
I flashed RROS and OmniROM yesterday. Quite fluid experience, camera works.
Sim1 still not working (my main focus)
If you don't use an SD card, try it out, i think it will be fun
I would really like to use it but I need the SD!
However I'm glad the camera works.
I hope that in the future the problem of the sim will be solved too.
Really!
Let's see what the new version of LOS brings when that's released. Usually it's a bit ahead of the RR build (which got released first this time).
Also, for those of you who are reporting non-functionality of certain features, or bugs, you should report it to the devs on their Telegram Channel. Remember to specify the device.

Deep Sleep appears to be broken on Hi3650 and Hi3660 on all the ROMs. They're looking into the issue.

Hi,
i used RR Beta 3 on honor 9. Front com.huawei.camera can take pictures, but files are not saved.
So I bought a new Nokia 8 a few months ago and it has some minor screen problems every now and then but I didn't worry about it so much but after about a month of use the screen randomly goes black and flashes I can see the screen still works but it just won't display anything I'm pretty sure it's software related cuz I installed Android 8 and it was on Android 9 before and after that it worked alot better for a week or so but now it's acting up again has anyone else encountered this problem if so did someone figure out a solution
Yesterday(9/16-2020) my phone got the android 10 update. How is it in the europe? Any updates in any country?
In the offic Forum the rollout seems to be in Italia, Sweden, Belgium, Germany, Romania, Poland... right now.
But it seems only the retail one but not the Amazon Alexa one.....
I have the reteu version of motorola one zoom. So I don't think that it's only the retail
Reteu is the "normal" parker/zoom version.
(AMZEU)Reteu with release channel AMZEU is the Amazon Alexa Motorola one Zoom Edition.
Just got it in the UK on my amazon alexa device
Motorola One Zoom unusable after Android 10 update
Hi,
I got the official upgrade to Android 10 for the Motorola One Zoom yesterday (Sep. 16, 2020) as well.
I am based out of Switzerland.
For the time being, I strongly recommend NOT to install it.
It broke several things, which makes the phone virtually unusable.
1. Several apps crash almost immediately after starting, including basic functions like Phone (yes, the phone itself, so you cannot place or receive calls), Contacts, parts of the Settings function, Google Play or WhatsApp.
2. Battery drain in stand-by is now between 5 and 10% per 10 minutes. In a couple of hours may the phone is dead. There is only a minor improvement in switching to battery saving mode. If you actually use the phone it drains much faster
3. Bluetooth disconnects every 5-10 seconds. You cannot use any BT earpiece, headset or hands free. BTW, this means the Swiss COVID app, which uses BT to track possible contacts with infected people, is not working either
I had to bring back from the dead an old phone and put it back to work, as the One Zoom is unusable for the time being.
Again, I hope other One Zoom owners will be luckier with Android 10.
Please share you experience....
PS. My One Zoom is an XT-2010-1 and Android 10 build number is QPH30.29-Q3-28-13

I received Android 10 in Czech Republic yesterday. It is as stable as it was with Android 9. Battery life is excellent. I don't experience and noticeable standby drain. There is definitely something wrong about your device. I hope they will resolve it with another update.
Overall my Moto Zoom is the most stable phone I've ever had. I believe there are many satisfied used of this phone. But people usually don't post positive feedback.
If anyone reading this from Moto, thank you for this phone. I really enjoy it. I don't even care it was on Android 9 until yesterday as long as it worked fast and stable. Newest software is not always the best software.

I confirm it's a great phone, and I was a delighted Moto One Zoom owner and user, up until the Android 10 upgrade yesterday.
The experience has shaken my enthusiasm and confidence quite a bit, and as a further confirmation that Murphy's Law is still valid, this happened when I most needed the phone to work for professional reasons and caused major disruptions in my activities.
Separately, can you please share your model number and build as well?
It may help me focus my efforts to get the issue fixed with Motorola support.
Thx
Had the update, UK Amazon Alexa edition. So far no probs, no crashes or anything bad to report.
Sadly still no WiFi calling, which is pretty pathetic.
Working good till now
Hi there,
Yesterday I have received the Android 10, I have the Amazon Alexa version, bought from Amazon Italy. Till now is working good, just a little hotter when fast charging.

Hi,
After the first 2020 ota update the camera started to get blurred and now is completely useless.
So i looked at the changelog and the update "fixed" something related to QRcode reading. So they must have messed something up.
Anyone knows anything about it?
Model: ZE620KL 128gb rom, updated to latest firmware, rooted with magisk and with twrp.
Thanks.
Additionally, wide camera works fine so far. But still it is strange that sometimes the main camera works and right after few minutes it gets all blurr again.
Hello, I have the same problem. It looks like the update killed a part of the camera. Your OIS is broken now. You can either replace your camera (around $10) or, as I did it, you can try to tap on the camera module. It may fix it temporary. A little bump could also work.
I am having a similar issue. Autofocus works fine for images close to the camera. Seems to be related to the QR code update mentioned by @Gyplay.
My phone has been serviced 3 times during warranty (free). It just died 20 days after receiving it. Then, around its 4th month of life it stopped holding charge. Around it's 10th month it just died again. No falls, not a single scratch and no liquid spills...
Now I have been living with this issue with the camera for almost a year...
Never had issues with any of my previous phones...
Perhaps I was unlucky, but will never buy an asus phone again.
Hi!
I have a Galaxy S10 G9730 (Snapdragon) and last week I've installed Android 11 + OneUI 3.0 via OTA. The phone started to give so much problems, battery drain, rotation sensor stucked until reboot, etc... I ended up hard-reseting it to solve problems.
All of them have dissapeared but proximity sensor is not working anymore, I tried some apps to test it but none of them detects anything. Also on phone hardware test "*#0#*" I didnt found anything to test proximity sensor.
So any of you had the same problem? Maybe it's some kind of hardware fail? I'm like 80% sure that it stoped working after that last update but not 100%....
Thanks guys!
Have you checked the Galaxy Store and Playstore for system apk updates?
If you could try reflashing it... it's very unlikely it's a hardware failure, at least with the proximity sensor.
May be a bad flash or it is the firmware which is probably the most likely.
I'm still running Pie because it's a lighter, faster OS that I find easy to use. The Q and especially the 11 "upgrade" would slow my 10+ down and reduce/destroy functionalities I use.

Yes, everything is updated. Afer a reboot it worked again, but after some hours of use, proximity and rotation sensor started to fail again.
Android 11 update its a complete failure, I'm thinking about going back to android 10.

That just sucks.
If you can tolerate it Sammy should eventually punch out an update for that issue.
It's possible you got a bad flash. Anymore I'm inclined to leave everything on the factory load if it's running well
I get damn tired of playing footsies with cactus...
Q isn't being well received as Google -tries- to kept its poor adoption rate secret.
11 is a real whack job. Google is on a losing streak. Lol their next OS will be code named Snake Eyes
It makes upgrading my hardware platform a big no go... no good OS available for the hardware.
