Moto E5 Go XT1921-8 Questions - Moto E5 Questions & Answers

Hello, I've recently obtained a Motorola E5 Go XT1921-8 Verizon Prepaid Variant, and I've got some questions for the device; I'll start off with the specs so that it might help narrow things down...
Model
e5 go
Motorola XT1921-8

software variant
verizon
software channel
vzw
hardware information
android version

android security patch level

Baseband version

one of the main issues I seem to be having is that the phone was obtained through [email protected], but the device seems to be account locked, i've tried a few tutorial vids i've found that supposedly work with other e5 devices, but unfortunately with this device it keeps asking for the original owner info, regardless of it recognizing a new account being added, is there something here that i'm missing?
another issue I seem to be having, is the fact that I can't seem to find any official flash/roms for this device, nor anything on rooting/TWRP Recovery for this specific device either.
if anyone can please offer some help or point me in the right direction, I would be highly appreciative!
Thank you

Verizon branded motos generally cannot be rooted nor bootloader unlocked.
But you can try to unlock the bootloader, not very likely though.

Yes!!! Thank you sd_shadow! you're an amazing person, and your posts have always been helpful through the years!
that FRP bypass did the trick! Thank you thank you thank you!
I've currently got the Verizon moto e2 as well since it came out, and i've seen how no one can get the bootloader unlocked nor get anything outside of a temporary root working on it, and it's been frustrating me for years, the same as everyone else who has one; (finally opted to get the Boost Mobile variant of the e2, and was so happy I could get the bootloader unlocked & rooted), I'm just kinda disheartened that at least the Verizon Prepaid devices seem to be locked down so tightly, especially since they seem to be decent budget phones.

I would say no, it's a Verizon model and likely locked to Verizon.

Sorry, normally I would suggest flashing the radio.img from another ro.carrier like RetEU or just Retail.
But there are the only USA ro.carrier variants available for rjames
You could try the radio from one of the other similar devices like ahannah, Nora, pettyl
Download the firmware and flash this
Code:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
That may fix it, it may not.

I want to hear the answers of people who have such a device. a banal radio firmware will not help anything.

[Q] Converting xt1097 to pure edition

I have a Telus XT1097. I know that without having a root method atm it is still just speculation but are we aware of any hardware differences or other issues that would make a convert to pure edition (xt1095) impossible?
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried unlocking your bootloader? It seems to me the Telus version is pretty much a Pure Edition, except for the model number... BTW does it have any TELUS bloatware at all?
FYI I believe the 1095 has different frequency bands.
Sent from my Moto X
I have not because as far as i understood the method was exclusively for the xt1095 but I'll give it a shot.
As far as bloatware, the only thing Telus installed on this phone is their "My Account" app. It's an app that you can download from the play store.
It's interesting to see the marketing used on Telus' website to describe the Moto X. The catchphrases are: "Pure Style, Pure performance" and then "Pure Android with the quickest updates". It leads me to believe that Telus will pretty much push out updates as they recieve them from Moto.
I'll be less inclined to root and flash if I see that I get timely updates, after using galaxy phones and flashing for the past 5 years i just want something that works great or of the box.
Regards,
Jeremie

I have a brazilian version, also model XT1097 from carrier Vivo and I was able to unlock the bootloader and root it normally. Would like to know the difference between the XT1095 and XT1097 though.

I have XT1093 (US Cellular). The Pure Edition root method works for all variants with unlockable bootloaders. The key is to follow the directions completely. As it only BOOTS the system image rather than INSTALLS the image, it works fine. Boots the image once, installs SU to your system, then reboots to your system.

Only the 16GB
I thought I was getting a Pure Edition when I bought the unlocked version from Motorola's mexican website, but I got the xt1097... if this is possible that would be great as I believe the pure edition will get updates faster
Could anybody supply the modem for the Telus xt1097? I converted my phone and forgot to backup the modem.

Sure thing,
I used the multitool to flash that Pure Edition Moto X 2014 (XT1095) ROM (full wipe)
Then flashed ATT Modem (downloaded from graffixnyc website)
Then sidloaded OTA update
Then restored my EFS from my TWRP backup.
Everything booted up fine, except I don't have a cell signal. It asks me for a SIM network unlock PIN. I'm stuck here.... I want to try and flash the telus modem. Not sure why it's asking for a SIM unlock PIN.
I mean how can I back up the modem file for you

Give it a try now!
It was asking you for unlocking cuz Att modem is sim locked.
So did you manage to successfully convert to 1095? I'd like to try, but I'm a bit worried about the modem issues, I'd need a sim unlocked modem i can use with Brazilian operators.
I'm a noob in moto x developing, so I'm already reading what multitool is and how-to's.

Hey guys,

Motorola and Verizon have stated that they will not update the XT1096 to MM or 6.x so there is no "official" Marshmallow firmware from Motorola for this phone.
You can find an 99% stock MM ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/rom-xt1096-verizon-flashable-stock-rom-t3327345. Please read the full thread and ask questions there about this ROM. Some people - including me - are using it as their daily driver with little to no issues. This ROM has all the Motorola apps (Voice, Display, etc.) working as expected from a stock ROM.
Another option CM13. Read this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/orig-development/rom-official-cm-13-0-nightly-releases-t3256580/post65781867#post65781867. CM13 works on the XT1096 and other CM13-based ROMs should work but you will need to verify by reading their threads. Please be sure to read the full thread and ask questions there about CM13 or in the other threads related to other ROMs.
This is assuming that you are on the Verizon network and want to keep CDMA functionality. If you are using this phone on a GSM network and do not care to keep the CDMA access then you might want to look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/guide-xt1097-to-xt1095-nextel-t2972693
All of the options above require that you have an unlocked bootloader. If your bootloader is locked please go here to learn about unlocking it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/motorola-unlocking-verizon-moto-x-2014-t3291104
Please read and learn as much as you can. Most - if not all - of your questions will be answered by reading through the threads listed.
XT1085
Hello everyone,
I'm currently using the moto X 2nd generation bought in china (XT1085) running android 5.0.2.
I would like to get rid of the retcn version of the system because I don't speak chinese for a retEU or retUS and install android 6 MM. Is it possible?
My phone is rooted and TWRP recovery installed
I tried to install this version : Version 6, because one guy wrote on the topic that it worked on TX1085 but it failed for me, and my phone stayed on the Motorola launching screen.
So now I'm back with the factory setup and would like to now how to install android 6.0?
Thanks

Moto X4 Models (NO Bootloader Unlocking)

Motorola X4 Models :
-XT1900-01 USA Carrier Friendly / Project Fi Model
-XT1900-07 Amazon Alexa Model
I spoke to Motorola to find out model numbers and if the 01 Model is Bootloader Unlockable, and unfortunately it is not.
what? then how come is root only tested and working allegedly on xt1900-1? I'm getting so confused haha. I only know mine is xt1900-6.
The bootloader is unlockable on the XT1900-01
I want to get this phone, but I'm afraid of getting the wrong phone for Verizon and getting stuck with a locked bootloader phone.

Yes hope for the best.
From what we've been able to discern from testing is just the opposite of what the CS agent told you. The Amazon version is the one you can't unlock the bootloader (probably because they are afraid you can disable the lock screen ads that way). Nobody's paid Amazon yet to remove them (apparently you can pay the difference between the "with ads" version and the regular retail price if you want Amazon to remove them), so we don't know if that enables bootloader unlock or not.

AFAIK, in the US there are three versions:
Amazon Prime Ads
Android One
Unlocked for all major carriers
