If you can wait, I would recomend it. Too many problems.
To be honest, my device doesn't have 90% of the bugs reported in these forums. I probably have one of the newer stocks of the product. The only bug that i come across on a daily basis is the unstable face unlock. Have no over heating issues, stellar performance, manageable battery life (gotta be honest, not its strong point), fantastic camera (raw with gcam), super easy to mod
I'm totally in love with this phone. Hasn't let me down in any way. But yeah, if you're able to wait for the Mi A3 then that would be better. But if you want something now, this device is worth the money. If android one isn't your prime focus then check out the redmi 7
If you want nice custom ROMs buy Mi A2, because you must wait a lot of time after Mi A3 released for TWRP and etc ...!!
I have mi a1 and mi a2, so far both phones had zero issues whatsoever, none of the bugs reported here. To be fair I'd go for the mi a2 it is a great phone, and I love it.

Too many bugs you expireanced your self, or to many bugs yeah heard some one that heard some one that had a friend who had another friend who possibly had the phone that might have had or might have had not any bugs?
I don't have any issue with my Mi A2, I am using stock Pie, not unlocked, not rooted. . . everything is working normal, just notification led is laggy and laggy animations when live wallpapers applied, but better buy Mi A3 xD
mi a3 is probly coming just in the autumn this year, so no probably not worth the wait. if you want a xiaomi with android one the a2 is your best bet. like others said, if you want a miui xiaomi you can find better options at the same price (poco f1, redmi notes), if you're willing to spend more look also at the nokias with android one.
I really like this phone and have zero issues with it. waiting will take 6+ months
remember that the problems reported here are specially amplified when compared with how many units xiaomi sold, and really small for all the leechers inthis forum
however, I also have the a2-nokia-equivalent, the nokia 7 plus. if you can afford the difference go for it. it has camera2api and volte enabled by default. it also has widevide l1 codec and better build quality. the update to the pie also arrived a lot faster.

The Support and Development community for this device has been superb. The members here on XDA have really gone all out to make up for Xiaomi's shortcomings.
So if you can get one relatively inexpensive, go for it.
If you are willing, have patience and know how to deal with custom roms - yeah, it's a gr8 device with some issues (I don't like the vibration motor, lol)
If you want to buy it just for the official "very vell supported" android one experience - forget it... and in my opinion - forget about MI3. Buy Pixel or at least Nokia.
Now I'm rocking AOSP Extended ROM + Gcam + Lawnchair V2 Alpha + QuickSwitch Magisk Module. And device feels very smooth.
Also we just got Ressurection Remix 7.0, so I'm keeping an eye on it. ROM support is awesome here, and it keeps coming.
But... on custom ROM I haven't found a way to get a stable camera yet...
I used MI Cam, Gcam - and they have bugs... None of them support 60 FPS + EIS recording.
This is nr. 1 thing that's missing for me right now... normal bugless camera.
So yeah... it depends dude...
On thursday my Redmi 3s stopped working, i just could not power it on, so i have decided to buy a new phone, i was considering either Mi A2 or ASUS Max pro M1. This one won because better camera and Android one. I am planning to stay in stock ROM at least for a year because of the warranty, i guess this is gonna be a huge difference to previous Havoc OS.

it's an easier switch compared to say... miui to android one.
i've switched to the a2 from a mido with official lineage and while i missed some things i have to say it was a pretty easy adjustment. and stock is stock. it just works.

Here are my 2 rupees  and a bit of a rant which I hope clears your doubts:
I used A1 and currently using A2 with buyer's remorse (should have bought Nokia). I got both these devices for the clean Android experience and it is not turning out to be the case. A2 now has MIUI like "about phone" setting at the top in settings. There is no clear rules on how Google decides which phone will become an Android One phone. I am starting to think that this Android one project is just for the name sake, I don't see any google's direct involvement in this project, we can argue that google makes the builds and vendors just add their features but again doesn't every other manufacturer does that like Samsung and LG, they take the AOSP builds and tweak them as per their requirements (correct me if I am wrong). Monthly security patches are mandatory by google but not every manufacturer follows it. To sum it up Android One is no longer that essential or a distinctive "feature", it is a package that gives you monthly security updates and new version upgrades.
This "A" series now seems to be an upper mid-range or lower high-end one and with A2's price and chipset, it is clear that Xiaomi is starting to charge a bit of a premium (cameras are really average), so why not also wait for Google's new Pixel lite? The price will be higher but you will have developers support like anything else. A2 doesn't even have an official twrp and the developer support seems scarce to say the least. On that note, if you want custom ROM support, wait a few months after the launch, if lot of people buy it then developers will support it, A2 got shadowed by Poco (Xiaomi gave F1s to developers for free to develop ROMs for it.). A1's development got gradually better over time because it didn't had any incident like that.
The current problems with A2: Slow emmc, No camera2api support (Even nokia's, cheaper than A2, 6.1 plus has it), mono audio recording, no arcore, low headphone volume like really low, Xiaomi's freedom of changing UI interface (Android One's ambiguity), average cameras, proximity sensor, smaller battery.
If every problem is fixed in A3 i'll also buy it, heck even if they kept the same cameras and enabled cam2 api it'll be enough to give me freedom to use other camera apps like google's tweaked camera or manual camera for better utilization of camera. If they fix everything I'll also get A3 if they don't i'll look for other options and certainly not buy A2 right now

it's not just half year, realistically you can probly find the a3 for sale at a decent price only in autumn. a1 launched in september 2017, a2 launched late summer, they both had normal pricing and availability just in late late autumn more like holiday season. as others pointed out, the a2-s worse nightmare was nokia and the poco f1. chances are a3 will face the same fierce competition in the form of the future f2 and whatever nokia has to say.

actually this is a good point, the best that would convince me that waiting is not worth it
A2 128GB (which i have bought currently, cuz no SD slot) was at good price about a month before christmas.
so yeah, i would actually wait almost a year
Now the MI9 is official...it looks like to me it doesnt get much love from XDA users.
Why is that?? It has the right SOC. good camera and an awesome price.....
For me i am done with the Flagship devices and prices above the 600 Euro mark. When i heard about the MI9 it prove to me it can be done. Great specs for a normal price. Xiaomi have my respect in that.

I'm keeping a close eye on these forums, as its highly likely I'll be getting the Mi 9!
Would be great to see good active rom development for this device. Part of me feels it will, though just make take some time as with most new devices
I'd like to invite everybody to the english Telegram group for Mi 9
https://t.me/mi9aosp
First, I strongly believe that sub $300 phones can do almost everything you'll ever need
in your Android phone as Budget phones keep getting better and better.
Realme x2 is the latest proof of this and it took me some time to research to come to
this conclusion from this thread
I was about settling for Mi 9 Lite (Mi CC9) when the global version of X2 came out
and it turns out that the only thing I will miss is IR blaster, which is not a deal-breaker
when you compare it to the things I could gain with Realme X2 over it.
I just ordered Realme X2 Global version (8/128G) here for $279 with free shipping which is fast.
You could even get a better deal with 11.11 festival around the corner but this is a great
value. And as my tradition is, I always discuss the first things I do with a new phone.
BOOTLOADER UNLOCK
This one is still a mystery on how to unlock the bootloader but a mystery I am determined
to find an answer to before my phone arrives in about 2 weeks.
TWRP, ROOT, AND MAGISK
I am not sure how much bloatware is in X2 Global version but I usually use phones
with root access so, I will have to get that.
I am a bit worried about the poor Dev community response to this great phone but I am
not perturbed bc it is still a new phone.
ALL KINDS OF TEST
I don't usually believe in antutu benchmarks but I'll add the test for others who will love to see it.
I am a real-life day to day usage test kind of person. Wifi download speeds, file copy and write speeds,
LTE download speeds, multiple SOT test, multiple battery drain/Charging test, NFC test, Gcam, Photos and
videos, inbuilt mic recording quality, GPS test, Bluetooth tests, OTG test etc.
SD730G is here to stay and will still be a 2020 budget king SoC contender so, you cannot go wrong with
Realme X2
Good post.
What some people don't realise that the difference between 730G and 855+ SoC is very minor and you can't feel it in your every day use. But for some reason people are willing to pay $200-$300 more for a 855+ device
Also the new hyp about over 100MP cameras is pretty riddiculous. Taking 100MP photos everyday is just so unpractical and more often than not, it would distort the quality of the photo.
I am pretty hopeful that the dev community will pick up once the device is a little older e.g. in 6 to 8 months time. We should be able to unlock the bootloader and get custom ROMs for it.

The main beef I had with realme marketing strategy was the close proximity of X2 and X2pro
The X2pro took out the shine from X2 a bit as I strongly believed that X2 is a better all-round phone
than Redmi Note 8pro. They should have given it 3 - 6 months Gap before marketing the pro version
Xaiomi selling Mi Note 10 with (SD 730G) way higher than X2 is a great marketing Advantage for
Realme X2 which is not doing too badly on the megapixels count race. Megapixels don't count
all that much (ask Pixel and iPhone) good sensors and software are way more important.
Once the dev community picks up, you can even tweak this phone to get an improved
performance and software experience.
I am not interested in spending an extra $150 - 250 for SD855 it makes no sense to pay that
to get 4k 60fsp that I may not ever use as 4k30fsp is large enough. It's like paying more to
get a more power-hungry processor, Power draining 90Hz and stereo speaker when I
consume all my media with headset or Bluetooth, Yeah! I'll pass, not a heavy gamer and even if I do, SD730G can game heavy. The real-life difference is so minute and insignificant. Unfortunately, some people still buy phones only antutu benchmark scores
Like Bolumstar said, Realme killed the x2 when they released the x2pro almost immediately. A quick search of realme x2 on google, and all you will see is realme x2pro. It was really annoying cos this is a great around phone. 730G is as good as it gets for me. Anything higher is like killing an ant with a sledgehammer. What exactly am I gonna do with 108mp camera? Take a picture of the solar system? 64mp is already crazy enough. 108mp is madness.
I have the China version and I can't wait to install the global rom on it. I'm hoping on all the tech guys here to come up with some instructions on how to go about. Thanks

You said it. Totally agree. I'm a Pixel 3a user (which has the even "worse" 670), and I definitively don't think that I will need even a Hertz more of CPU. And I'm surely not the "average user" person.
I'm thinking of actually buying this for my mother or give her the Pixel 3a and take this one, but I think I kinda fall in love with the Pixel experience right now (also if Android 10 is pretty buggy IMHO).

The Pixel 3a is a rip-off in comparision. BTW. it is not all about performance, the 730G is much more efficient.
Realme x2 is a great phone. On the processor you have already said enough, the cost difference with the slightly more powerful processors is too much not to consider the best 730g of these.
Obviously the performance of a smartphone is not the result of the soc alone, but the X2 is the set of these, of a good amount of ram, 8GB in LPDDR4X, a UFS 2.1 internal storage, a super amoled FHD + display with a readability spectacular in all light conditions and with any reading angle. I use it with a Samsung V3 512 GB sd card and the file transfer from the internal storage to the latter is very fast. the connectivity sector is also excellent, good wifi and LTE reception, excellent bluetooth, completed by the presence of the NFC. as for energy consumption it is easy to spend praise, I read the battery drain on the forum, well I have no knowledge of it, I have always used the Ampere widget on the home to keep the current constantly under control and so far I never had having seen a smartphone consume only 100 mh at rest between 350 and 700 in use, even heavy. To this must be added the VOOC recharging speed which is really fast and unimpeded, I explain, with the redmi you have the quick charge which should give almost the same performance, but from personal experience I know it is not so, while I loaded with a charger quick 3 the phone became a stove, temperatures between 45 and 50 degrees, throttling and reducing the charging current from 3200 m to just 1500. The Realme quietly charges with temperatures of only 30 ° at 3400 mh and drops only on '86% of the battery at 1500 as rightly needs to be.
I now come to what I think is a huge mistake that all average users make when they choose to buy one phone over another. The first question is: "How many megapixels does the camera have?"... In my opinion, a smartphone is a smartphone, it could even have six thousand megapixels, it can never, ever have the performance of a camera, even simply of average price . Photography is not done with megapixels, but with good quality optical lens, with shots chosen through optical and non-digital zoom, with lighting reading systems for choosing the right exposure times and apertures... The smartphone in my opinion it is enough that you make decent pictures of your daughter's birthday and pictures of the holiday and that's it. I give an example... How many of us really want to go around in the dark countryside to photograph the stars with the astrography function??? Because only in this way the stars are photographed, without optical noise of city lights, and I add with exposure times that they would like a tripod that follows the rotation.
The Realme as a photographic sector also decently answers with the camera stock. It has a bit too much saturation in the colors, but if like me you are content to take "normal" photos, giving up slowmotion, night photos, just look for a decent gcam that allows you to set the white control in the settings, AWB, and the HDR+ options and it becomes spectacular. Obviously this makes it clear that the photo hardware is excellent and a bit more effort than Realme would be enough to improve the software and the stock camera would be enough.
So far I have always had mid-range smartphones, starting with the legendary OnePlus One, going from Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi note 7. everyone has endured shameless modding, the One has seen six versions of android and hundreds of roms, and it scared me a little the fact that the Realme X2, both, we hope, because new, and because as has been said above was overwhelmed by the Realme X2 Pro, it still didn't have a good community dev. Instead I must say with great satisfaction that even as it is, stock, with a bit of debloat from adb, with AdGuard that removes the ads from the browsers, with Sd Maid pro that keeps it clean thanks to the scheduler, I don't even feel the lack in the slightest of custom roms and, even for the first time, even root.
Of course if there would be everything it would be easier, but, which I do not understand, Realme seems to put stakes to unlock the bootloader, in my opinion or give it a chance without detracting from the phone reducing it category in the security environment or not. ..
But this is a strategy speech and we will see how much will be exceeded by the spread of the telephone. In fact I am convinced that the development community is regulated by the demand and the offer, the more we will be the owners of the device the more modding demand there will be and the more we will have ...

My biggest influences was that I didn't want a notch or punch hole and wanted to ensure a decent level of custom ROM support.
It sounds like MTK are looking to be a bit more dev friendly, but personally I would want to see that happen first before considering an MTK device.

What about camera between these two? I prefer better camera over notch/punch hole (i don't like those too) but community support Is most important for a long term usage...
Maybe i have to wait a bit longer and see what will happen with 8 Pro and development.

The jury is out, with regards the camera. DXOmark didn't think it was anything special. There is a limit to how many pixels you can cram in such a tiny space and I reckon the Samsung ISOCELL chip had pushed things too far. It will be relying, too much, on post processing to remove the noise. Keeping around the 48MP range of the Sony and of their earlier ISOCELL sensor (so 12MP effective for most shots), with the larger sensor size could have given them a sweet spot.
Hello everyone,
I want to buy Realme x2 pro mobile 12gb ram 256gb memory Variant in India. I am really concerned about warranty after root. I searched Internet couldn't find any clear answer.
I want to ask if I buy Realme x2 pro mobile 12gb ram 256gb memory mobile and then unlock the bootloader and root the phone will it void the warranty of the phone.
Is there any solution to root the phone but if something goes wrong the phone could be unrooted and make it under warranty.
Kindly help.
Thanks in Advance.
Best Wishes
i was excited and i bought it
and i am not happy with the software side of the device AT ALL!
brand is new, development is obviously slow and more over realme was not very keen to make it developer friendly! infact in july they finaly released official flasher!
fingerprint doesn't work once boot is unlocked, atleast i am still trying to find out the method,
the device came with Color OS and now on realmeUI1 , where you must format data if you are flashing with non OPPO recovery (twrp or others) this means you must take all backups always!
the device doesnt go on recovery with KEY combination! like it used to with Xiaomi or sony or samsung!
it only goes to FASTBOOT MODE and from there you must trigger twrp everytime
why does it matter?
so Fastboot boot command DOES NOT WORK on REALME , to trigger device to wake up in recovery!
bootloops are so common that for every bootloop the usual solution is to FORMAT DATA, when i upgraded from June RealmeUI1 C25 version to July RealmeUI1 C29 version, via OrangeFox recovery, it went to bootloops! unless i did FORMAT DATA....
I am coming from PocoF1 which was so flashing friendly!
for me it was a huge mistake to buy this device and now i am stuck with it!
i got carried away with 12gb ram and on lower price! ,
Oh boy still not tired to use every single thread to blame the device?
If you're not happy with it, why just not sell it and buy Poco F2 if you were so happy with the F1? Or 1+ oder Xiaomi Mi or something else?

shall i lie just because you are feeling offended?
Sorry, but you didn't answer him his question whether he will void warranty or not...
And btw. things like poor community / dev support are things which you could check BEFORE buying the device to cry afterwards.
@kk100
I don't know whether warranty is void by rooting.
But of course you can lock the bootloader afterwards again if you want to.

Thanks for Sharing your experience. I am not a developer you can consider me less technical details knowledge but I am now using Redmi Note 4 SD version 4gb ram 64gb memory for past three years and I want to mention on many occasions TWRP has saved my device from bricked device to bootloop. i have redmi note4 also, running on HAVOC2.3, and working fine as my office device,
as long as you use Realme x2 pro quietly with no meddling every now and then, the device will work perfect!
frankly I couldn't get REDMI k20 Pro Premium 12gb/512gb version , its also on sd855 and has amazing screen and its very popular device on xda where roms /kernels/mods are concern!
i wanted to buy that but i couldn't find

but on hardware side,
realme x2 pro has 90hz screen refresh rate (k20 has 60only but after rooting, there is method to do 81hz)
realme x2 pro has dual loud speakers (K20 has mono)
realme x2 pro brightness is 1000nits where (k20 is 450nits)
but these were not my deal breakers! , i still wanted to buy k20 pro but due to unavailability in my local market! i couldnt

Thanks a lot for your sharing. I will not use my mobile with too much meddling but I want root and twrp etc I will not change roms either. I will look into k20 pro premium 12gb ram 512 gb . For Realme x2 pro I am concerned about rooting and warranty. Xiaomi is fine with rooting and warranty Realme should also follow it. I also think community support is important as if the device gets some problem there is support available for the device.
Thanks very much for replying to people like me who get lost with no support.
P. S. Just saw k20 pro premium 12gb /512. Wow what a phone and incredible specs and almost the same price as Realme x2 pro mobile. If I could get this I will purchase it.

Just ask Realme support. They will give you the answer. I heard that they are ok with rooting and warranty.
Btw. If you want to go with k20pro premium I suggest you to install custom ROM because the stock one is flooded with ads and bloatware. Also you are losing 50W charging. FP is fixed in newer versions of Realme UI (unlocked bootloader).

Thanks for replying. I asked Realme for warranty of device there was no clear specific answer. On internet if I am correct Realme website has mentioned that unlocking the bootloader will not void the warranty but rooting will do that's the confusion.
Thanks for your support

Thanks a lot for your sharing. I will not use my mobile with too much meddling but I want root and twrp etc I will not change roms either. I will look into k20 pro premium 12gb ram 512 gb . For Realme x2 pro I am concerned about rooting and warranty. Xiaomi is fine with rooting and warranty Realme should also follow it. I also think community support is important as if the device gets some problem there is support available for the device.

X2 PRO was REALME's ANSWER to XIAOMI for K20 PRO Premiuim!
K20 was suppose to be pocof2, but they made it as K20 Pro Premium or in global market it was named as Mi9T pro premium, where later K30 released and K30 Pro released and now K30 Pro premium is actually POCO F2
so basically twrp for K20 easily covers Mi9t and K20 Pro for Mi9t Pro and K30pro will work for PocoF2 also!
Xiaomi's success is actually making their devices XDA friendly!
if low screen brightness in sun and 90hz gimmick doesn't affect u much! i would advice go for k20 pro premium! (12/512 gb)
modded kernels has kcal / sound boost is helpful

What great Information.
I want more productivity from a phone then fancy features. Now Even notification lights are not included in phone, can't even imagine that. I am really looking forward to k20 pro premium (12gb/512gb). Phone are really not expensive to manufacturers but sold at very high prices. Budget is also Important in these times. If I go for Realme x2 pro or k20 pro premium I will be paying almost 3 times of my current RN4 4gb /64gb which still gives value of money.
I will be trying to get k20 premium 12gb/512 if available or will have to choose Realme x2 pro 12gb/256 gb.
Thanks a lot.
Best Wishes

Well... there is a problem with xiaomi devices in India as Indian government started to block xiaomi's apps. You don't really need to modify kernel to get equalizer/sound booster like viper4android and there's even a thread about getting one with Realme X2 pro. I don't think that custom kernels are a big problem rn as 855+ gives great performance.

if you are a person who wants value for money! then frankly these two fones which have been discussing is most part having features we may not even fully use (if ever)
512gb storage you will NEVER fill up! in regular use!
90hz screen may not even make a difference and 90hz screen is not battery friendly so realmex2 pro don't use it on every app!
its the main processor that counts! Snapdragon 710/720/765 are weak processor and heats up because devices of this processor don't have liquid cooling ( realme x2pro and Redmi k20 pro premium has Liquid cooling)
other value for money FONES with GREAT support are
1. Poco f1 (but its lcd, so not every eye friendly)
2. Redmi NOTE 8 PRO ( its MediaTek gaming chip 40% cheaper, but LCD so you may not enjoy much, colors may feel dull, but test it in shop/ display models)
3. Mi note 9s (but its lcd)
4. Samsung M31 ! its also great fone! (but they use Enoyx processor which is slower) Rootable!

xiaomi apps getting blocked shouldn't be any problem with custom kernels
lots of kernel developers are from india only and these kernels are used on custom roms! and even custom roms are developed in india only!
i have used Havoc on PocoF1 which is developed by indian developer!
kcal gives GREAT control on controling screen values! infact most of the custom roms have included this feature under DIPLAY>LiveDisplay
sound booster by GOODAV is also good app to boost volume without unlocking bootlock!
90hz screen may not even make a difference

Really?...just test it yourself in Chrome while scrolling and then tell again there is no difference...
For me 90hz nowadays is an absolut must have feature!
How much battery will you loose? One hour maybe?
Same thing you would lose with LCD screen, if not more...

I didn't said that blocked xiaomi apps will cause problems with custom kernels or Indian kernels would not work... The author of this post wants to stay on stock ROM with root. That so I meant that it isn't a great choice if he wants to stay on stock ROM.
About 90hz... when you use a phone for some time with 90hz you can really notice the difference between 60hz and 90hz... After using my phone on 60hz for week and 90hz for another week I haven't noticed any difference with battery life. If someone really want to use 90hz on every app there is a thread about getting it.
Also I don't think that there's a need of volume boosting on Realme X2 pro when the phone is extremely loud stock.
256GB for normal user is enough and I don't see a need for more storage space.
Both phones are great but of course because xiaomi is bigger they have bigger community with more mods/roms/kernels.
Thanks everyone for taking time to reply.
About budget phones yes i have been using redmi note 4 SD for past 3 years but this time I really want more ram like 12gb/256 Realme x2 pro or k20 premium edition 12/512gb. I will mostly use stock rom I don't want to get into custom roms I am not a developer or much technical details knowledge.
But now I don't want to use my mobile with Ramexpander app for extra ram, Using 2 sim plus 128gb micro SD(This is enough but not good, need more memory) card with sim extension tool,I also use external 1tb hdd with mobile data backup with stickmount app.
Xiaomi still doesn't has Mi Pc suite for above KitKat which is extremely annoying. Unfortunately transferring data from mobile through mtp doesn't work in my mobile and lost lot of important data because of this earlier.
Does Realme has Pc suite?
For Realme x2 pro mobile 12gb/256gb I am looking for warranty after root.
I am still more inclined to buy Realme x2 pro 12/256 or k20 pro premium 12/512gb. I just want value for money and peace of mind that these phone will last next 3 years without any trouble.
Thanks everyone for replying.

Realme doesn't have PC suite, but why do you need it?
Don't want to use cloud?

1. use myphoneexplorer , its virtually for every android device on earth freee, https://www.fjsoft.at/en/ , started for sony ericson but as sony moved to xperia the developer added support for android, i always use this never installed xperia companion or kies or misuite
2. no realme / oppo dont have pc suite, not that i found on web
3.since grass is greaner on the other side, and as user above said xiomi has bigger developent community, i am now more inclined towards k20 pro, but you will feel more inclined towards k20 pro once after you will buy realme x2 pro lol
4. i would not say x2pro headphone volume is loud! yes speaker is loud, i still use volume booster by Goodav to enjoy music
