Hi,
I cannot install magisk on the Asus Zenfone 2E Z00D (ZE500CL).
I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP ZENFONE EDITION (3.2.1) and tried multiple ROMs (Groovy Android 7.1.2, lineage 14.1, ASUS 12.16.5.118). Everything seems to work fine, but Magisk does not install.
If I try to install Magisk 20.4 from TWRP, I get "Updater process ended with ERROR: 1"
If I try to install VerifiedBootSigner-v8 from TWRP I get "Abort: boot.img not found"
I tried fastboot flash boot boot.img using boot.img from the ROMS above, I get everything is ok, but it seems to do nothing.
If I try to patch boot.img from magisk manager I get "unable to repack boot image".
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Pixel XL running PureNexus. Was on 13.3_b4. Reflashed PureNexus. Went to flash Magisk 14.2 beta. TWRP said the flash was successful. When I rebooted, the phone booted right into TWRP again. My TWRP version is RC2. Currently don't have magisk on the phone. Any ideas how to get it to stick? Do I need to update TWRP?
Could have to flash a custom kernel like ElementalX, I remember that was a thing with the unofficial Magisk builds.
No problems here with 14.2 , Android O
TWRP/Root all works fine.

I could not seem to get TWRP / Magisk to co-exist on my Pixel XL either. I was able to get it working by using the new install method. So instead of flashing the Magisk zip in TWRP, have Magisk Manager patch your boot.img, then copy the patched image to your computer and flash via fastboot.
I did give up on-device TWRP for this. I can still utilize that from my PC with a fastboot boot of the TWRP img when needed.
Hello. I'm using a Zenfone 2 Z00A with the lastest LOS 14.1 at the time of this post.
I've been trying to install Magisk via flashing the .zip file in TWRP but everytime I flash it the phone doesn't boot to system but to the recovery. It only boots to the system if I flash the Magisk uninstaller
I flashed the su remove, uninstalled Xposed and tried to flash Magisk again but it keeps booting to TWRP. Same thing happening.
How do I solve this ? I just want to play Pokemon GO.
Thanks !
Flash Android Verified Boot Signer after flashing Magisk.
And please make a search in zenfone 2 forum before asking, there're tons of discussion about this problem.
I have a P8 Lite2017 PRA-LX1 no brand, unlocked, twrp 3.1.1, stock ROM
I've tried superSU, it works, but I wanted to use Magisk,
so I did a factory reset, unSU, and tried to install Magisk 15.3 and 14.0,
both gave me the error 1
"boot changed by software" and "boot partition too small" or something like this
on the net, I read that I need to install a stock boot ?? then someone install magisk via fastboot ??
I don't get it, I can't have twrp AND Magick ??
---
also, I even tried to install the "new" twrp-3.1.1-2-v2.5, after installing and rebooting, I still get the twrp 3.1.1-0 written on the splashscreen at the begin of twrp, is this normal ?
Hi,
I tried to flash Magisk on my Redmi 4X (using TWRP 3.0.3) no error during flashing, but then after booting completes, i don't see Magisk anywhere and phone doesn't get rooted.
ROM: MIUI GLOBAL 9.2 STABLE (9.2.5.0)
TWRP: TWRP Recovery (cofface) 3.0.3-0
Anyone has any idea?
Install magisk manager manually. Either search internet for magisk manager apk or extract the zip and install apk from there

Get the boot.img file from the fastboot images of your miui version, install magisk manager, and install using patch boot image method, patch the boot.img file then flash this patched boot.img file to boot in twro recovery!
Device ZTE Quest 5, Z3351S
Android version: 9
Magisk version name: 831a398b
Magisk version code: 25206
After flashing the patched `recovery.img`, trying what the guide says (using recovery keys) will not boot Magisk. Even booting the image file itself just results in the phone refusing to boot until it reboots. Anyone know what is happening?
you do it wrong, flash boot.img with fastboot
I've done that and none of my connections will work. Magisk also says that I don't have boot ramdisk. The first time I did do the boot image, it wasn't fully rooted and root apps couldn't do much.
