Hello,
I've tried (without success) to connect an external Mic with 3.5mm connector to my phone, using a USB type C to 3.5mm adapter.
Since android doesn't recognize external microphone, I used an app called "Open Camera", which enable using external mic.
My equipment:
- Phone is Mi note 3.
- I tried using several generic Usb type C to 3.5mm adapter - haven't found a similiar product by Xiaomi.
- Microphone is Maono Cm-10S - which works fine when connected to a phone with 3.5mm audio jack.
Any way to make it work?
P.S. I haven't found any dedicated App to audio recording, which allows the use of an external mic.

Hi, I am having problems in using Voice Command 1.6 when my ATT Tilt (ROM version: 1.62.502.0) is connected to external speakers such as TV speakers, Car speakers etc. I am using 3 in 1 USB Adaptor to connect cable to speakers.
The problem seems to be with Microphone of the phone which is for some reason being deactivated as soon as the 3 in 1 USB adapter is plugged into the phone. For the first time when I used 3 in 1 USB cable, it worked fine. But after that it stopped working and Microphone is being deactivated as soon as 3 in 1 cable is inserted into phone.
Whereas, when I insert other USB cable such as for charging, ActiveSync etc, microphone seems to be active and I can use Voice Command while the cable is inserted.
Please help. I need the microphone to be active to be able to use VoiceCommand while my phone is connected to my car's AUX port speakers.

you have to use that original htc adapter to connect a universal earphone. this adapter has a microphone in the 3,5 mm plug.
Hi Matthes, You mean, the original htc adapter has microphone builtin?
Also, as I mentioned, my voice command worked properly with my adaptor once (for the first time).
I am not sure mine is original or not, I bought it online and there is no brand name on the adaptor. All it says is 3 in 1 USB Adaptor, RoHS, Made in China. I dont even have the original package for this adaptor. So, cant tell if its HTC or not.
Does the original adaptor says 'HTC' on it?
The Samsung Dock has a 3.5mm stereo jack on the back so clearly the audio is available via the microUSB.. So, given i would like to charge the Note and play music in the car, has anyone found a cable that has micro USB at one end and splits to USB (for charging) and stereo 3.5mm (for audio)?..
thx!

Nope. I've only found this http://www.shopandroid.com/htc-3-in-1-usb-adapter/5A18A3571.htm
I don't know if it would work with SGN (even though you would still need an adapter from miniusb to microusb).
something along the lines of this?

Hi, I was wondering if there is a dongle that would split the USB Type C connector on the 5X to another USB Type C plus a headphone jack. I would like to make something like a dock for my car where I would plug in just a single USB cable and would have both charge (through the usb) and audio (through the jack into the head unit in my car). Would it even be possible to configure the phone to output audio via the USB? Cheers.

You may want to read the first post of this thread: [Guide] How to enable USB audio on Nexus 5X
The short answer is, yes, the 5X (and a lot of other devices too, it depends on the kernel and a properly configured ALSA, and should be possible since Android 4.1) can output Audio through the USB connector, through you may be limited to charging slowly at the same time you are outputting audio; and depending on the device, it may not charge at all.

I already found that thread and given that this is the 'Accessories' forum, my question was aimed more towards the dongle/adaptor, but thank you
Does the Nexus 6 support USB headphone adaptation? Older phone aux port is problematic. Can I use a USB adapter for audio purposes, while using standard headphones.
What do you mean when you say the headphone connection is problematic? Has it failed, or are you just not a fan of it?
Regarding using USB headphones, it probably will not work only because there is a dedicated (and superior) input for the purpose, meaning no need to add the capability to the USB connection. You probably would have better luck simply using a pair of Bluetooth headphones.
When plugged in standard headphones output is staticky and choppy. I am just curious if I can use the USB port to run audio from instead of the standard aux port.
And I answered your question. Use a Bluetooth headset as USB likely won't work.
BTW, your headphone jack needs to be cleaned. A drop of alcohol and plugging a pair of headphones in and out a few times should fix it.

There's some similar models with similar look. All functions work (audio out, microphone in, play/pause/call, volume). Also, such adapter works with V20 and Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra (change USB mode to audio in Developers Option).
Regular USB speakers and USB sound card also work through USB C to A female adapter.
Notice: these audio adapters draw power from your phone. Unplug when not in use.
