Detect Galaxy Z Flip/Fold cover closure state - Tasker Tips & Tricks

Does anyone have a Tasker (5.9.3) method to detect the folded state (open/closed) of the family of Samsung Galaxy folding smartphones (Z Flip and Fold)?
*UPDATE*
Figured it out... Have to use new Logcat Entry support:
Event: Logcat Entry
ComponentisplayFoldController
isLidFolded=true
Event: Logcat Entry
ComponentisplayFoldController
isLidFolded=false

FinalBurn CE Diamond Version...

Hi everyone,
first post on xda forum, but long time reading...
Anyway, I want to create a Diamond version of FinalBurn CE (greaaat emulator) but I can't contact the project owner (his modaco messagebox is full).
My wish is to replace the d-pad action with capacitive touch panel input. In fact, I already managed to catch touch input and simulate d-pad input but I need to do this in the program itself...
Does anyone knows this developper (Hao Zhang) ?
Has anyone access to FinalBurnCE source code ?
Thanks
KriXou
Hi,
thats a great Idea. Any news on this. If that would be possible, than we have the ultimate gaming machine with the diamond.

So no news until now...
sadly
hi KriXou
i have the same thought, but still many problem.
the APIs HTCNavOpen HTCNavClose HTCNavSetMode from HTCAPI.dll is not enough. Because we can receive WM_USER+209 when press or release the touch pad only. can NOT got MOVE event. so i disassembly that dll and found more APIs .
typedef struct tagHTCTOUCH_DATA
{
BYTE Where;
BYTE Unknown1;
BYTE xPosLP;
BYTE Unknown2;
BYTE yPosLP;
BYTE Unknown3;
BYTE Angle;
BYTE Unknown4;
BYTE xPosRP;
BYTE Unknown5;
BYTE yPosRP;
BYTE Unknown6;
} HTCTOUCH_DATA;
DWORD CALLBACK NavCallBack(HTCTOUCH_DATA *, int nSize, UINT);
DWORD HTCNavGetData(HWND, HTCTOUCH_DATA *);
DWORD HTCNavRegisterCallback(HWND, PCALLBACKFUNC, UINT);
this two api take effect after HTCNavSetMode(hWnd, 0x0008); so we can got the touch pad data in realtime . but the APIs based on Windows Event mechanism, when emulator occupied most cpu resources, the data we got will be delayed, even can't got the release event.
do you have any good idea ?
hi OopsWare,
i did find the same things, you can't do more than waiting for the event. In fact this is due to the way the message (event) is sent : it seems to be added to the windows message queue in a non-blocking way (cf PostMessage vs SendMessage apis).
in my mind, the solution would be to try with a callback mechanism, but it didn't manage to do so...
are you working with final burn sources or an external-background-program ?
i'v ported FB Alpha to a linux mobile ( Motorola E680i ), and u can find the source at http://oopsware.googlepages.com
The video' guy used 3 different emulator:Fpse Morphgear Finalburn,Finalburn didn't released WVGA version so he used wvgafix

[Q] Galaxy Note, S Pen & Citrix Receiver or Vmware View client

Hello,
I have a very strange problem with my new Galaxy Note (2.3.6) when using either Citrix Receiver or VMWare view client to access to a remote workplace environment:
- Both clients are working fine when I use the touch screen with my fingers
- When I try to use the S Pen :
* when I touch the screen with the S Pen it is working fine
* but when I don't touch the screen but put my S Pen NEAR the screen...what is happening is exactly the same as if I press the "DELETE" key on my keyboard
Meaning that if I have a text file open in notepad or word, the text starts to disappear under the S Pen when I put the S Pen near the screen Even worse with Outlook open : my messages disappear under my S PEN!
I understand that the S Pen is in a way an "active" component that can trigger my phone even if I don't press the screen, but why my Citrix Receiver and my VMWare View client understand "DELETE Key?!?"
Do someone have the same problem? Is there a way to fix it?
My S Pen seems to work fine with the Memo Galaxy Note App...
Regards.
I am having the same problem, though I did not think it was the s-pen causing the issue. I moved the pen away from the phone and everything was fine. As soon as I moved it back, messages became deleted! My employer uses citrix so I'll see if we can escalate the issue to them!
Talked with my IT department, we are running a very old version of citrix, and probably won't be upgrading.

Keyboard foldable

Has anyone experience with the freedom keyboard advertised "Compatible with Android, Windows 7/8 (Desktop and Mobile), Apple iOS, BlackBerry and Symbian " by Amazon. does it work with the Samsung WP8 phone?
Second after searching in the phonebook I have now all the letters shown in the apllication, just blank without anything. Any Idea how I get rid of it? Strange

I think you asked this in another thread about a different device. The title on that device is misleading and some of the reviews even speak to WP7/8 not working on it.
Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8 does not allow a BT keyboard or a USB keyboard to be attached or synced to the device for text input.
There are no keyboards available for your device.
Human Interface Bluetooth Profile is not part of Windows Phone 7 or Windows Phone 8. Below is a list of the current BT user profiles developers can use, please note that you do not see HID listed. As I noted in your other thread about BT keyboards, this is a known issue with thousands of requests to have it changed. You too can add your comments to MS here: http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/f...port-for-hid-human-interface-device-bluetooth
List of supported BT profiles and versions:
Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP 1.2)
Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP 1.4)
Hands Free Profile (HFP 1.5)
Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP 1.1)
Object Push Profile (OPP 1.1)
Out of Band (OOB) & Near Field Communications (NFC)
As far as your phone book goes, I believe there is no way to eliminate the unused letters and the letters only show up when you exceed a certain number of contacts. The same thing occurs in the start menu when you go over a certain amount of apps, you will see alphabetical. (I may not be understanding your issue, take a screen shot with your phone and post it) to take screen shots press the power and home button at the same time.

[Q] VPN via Android Intent?

Hi there,
I'm using the "Llama" App to manage all my configurations. I can connect my phone via WiFi to my Router and use my Landline number with it. I can call other Landline numbers in 75 countries using this feature.
I configured a VPN connection to my Home-router. Everything works fine, but...
All I may know so far is, that I can use Android-Intent to start my VPN. Correct??
The "Llama" i can run an Intent, but I don't know how to configurate it propably.
//
It says:
- "Intent send mode:" with following options: Start activity / Start service / Broadcast
- package name
- class name
- Action
- Categories (comma/pipe seperated)
- Data
- Data Type
- Extra -> Add new 'extra' row [Description: Set the 'key' to blank to remove that row. Surround variable names with two hashes to expand them in string extra (e.g. ##variablename##)]
When adding an extra row:
- >Key - boolean / byte / short / int / long / float / double / string - value
//
Is this possible?
If needed... It's a IPSec-VPN with Xauth-Authentification.
Thanks very much for any help! :fingers-crossed:
cheers, maxbenn
the only thing i know you can reach without root ist the menu where to choose wich vpnconnection you want to start with:
Code:
Intent-send-mode: Start activity
Action: android.net.vpn.settings
With root you have to make a shortcut to the vpnconnection with an additional app and start the intent of the additional app.
Thx, it works!
The non root version is enough for me.
Cheers,
Max.

Detect if field or other feature exists

Is there a way in Tasker (I know there is in Autoinput, but it slows down my device something fierce) to detect if a field or another object exists? I know how to find the ID of a field or another object, but I'm not sure how to check to see if the field exists on screen, although I'm sure that there is a method of scripting this. Can anyone assist?
Thank you!
Just to clarify, I know there is no built in feature to tasker that will accomplish this, in merely looking for either a shell or a Java script command that will accomplish this.
I don't think so. There's some interesting things you can do with the dumpsys commands...but no promises that you can detect specific fields or text on the screen. Try dumpsys display?
Sent from my g928c powered by RiverRom RR1 and SkyHigh 4.8
Thanks for the idea. Dumpsys display appears to only be related to the physical display and not much about what is actually being displayed.
I discovered that Dumpsys Window at least got me over the 1st hurdle and could tell me what windows were open, and which one was active, but after that I ran into another hurdle where I need to actually identify the presence of a button or a field.
