Is this a bug?
I cannot clear music notification from the expanded notification shade.
Android 10 had a small "x" that would clear the notification. https:/i.imgur.com/GOv3DsQ.png

Go to settings > Sounds > Media and turn it on. I think that will clear the notification once you stop playing music

Anyone have any idea how to stop the ring/vibrate alert when I receive an email or sms? On most phones if I push a button it'll stop, but obviously it doesn't work for the tilt.
Is there a cab for this?
Thanks!
Are you looking to change the settings?
Start > Settings > Sounds and Notifications > Notifications
Or hit the dismiss softkey when you get a notification.
kinda.... When I hit the dismiss softkey the ring/vibrate doesn't stop. When I did a search I saw someone else with a Wizard had the same problem. But to elaborate, my ringtone for sms isn't just a beep, it's a ringtone, so I just need it to stop when I hit a key or something.
Thanks for the help

Uhhh... no it doesn't. Am I doing it wrong?
I'm not trying to adjust the settings, I just want to be able to have a ringtone for my sms, and then when it rings, be able to stop the ringtone/vibrate with a button (or a scroll wheel) anything really...
Any more ideas?
Help? whimper?
Really? Nobody knows how to fix this? Am I the only one who has this problem? I know I can just turn the ringtone off for txts and email, but then why let a great feature go to waste? There has to be a way to stop a ringtone from playing all the way through when receiving a sms. Someone? Anyone?
Thanks
So running into a maddening issue. If i get a notification inbound such a google+ or twitter, the default notification will continue to play the alert until it is checked and dismissed.
Any way to fix this or have the notification only play once and not repeat?

Sounds like you have an issue. I only get the notification once with a tone. Factory reset?
Change your notification tone to something different. It will stop playing the notification

This worked. Thanks!
It's hard to understand why there is no LED on the Nokia 8, not necessarily a color one like on my trusty Lenovo P2, even a white one would do the trick for notifications...
Anyway I don't like audio on notifications so I was hoping to have the phone vibrate but that doesn't seem possible, am I missing something ? Thanks for any help !
Just turn Notification/Phone ring Volume to 0 should be vibration only

That would also mute phone rings, which I doubt OP wants.
@webvan You can manually turn of notification sounds for each app by long-pressing an app icon and tap: App Info -> App notifications -> Messages -> Sound -> None.
Thanks, yes I'd still like the phone to ring !
Will try the app by app setting.
ok so I tried that method and you can indeed dig into the notifications and when they are set to a high or above importance you can activate "vibrate" and deactivate "sounds". Thanks !

Seems crazy that 10 years into Android development there is no option to only make your phone vibrate when a notification arrives instead of making a sound !

May I ask what apps you are trying to turn off sound notifications? For Instant Messaging apps like Viber, Signal, Telegram, etc. I can easily turn the sound notification OFF and leave the vibration option ON. Some apps don't have those options simply because they don't send and/or display notifications.
It's strange to hear you can't do that. Try exploring all the options around the Notification Settings in each app.
Oops, had edited my message in the meantime! Yes I found that the trick is to set importance of the notification to high or above to get control of the sound+vibration settings. All good now!
Good Morning,
I just picked up my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 this Sunday and I'm loving it so far. The only problem is I work in a location where I need my ringtone off but the ability to hear my notification and messaging alerts. Kind of like a beeper/pager. Is this something I can do on the Note 9?
Thank you

Yeah that's super easy. Hit volume down, and a volume slider will appear. Then hit that little arrow in the top right of the volume slider. That will expand it to include Ringtone, Media, Notifications, System, and Bixby Voice (if you set it up). You can adjust them individually that way.

When I attempt to mute/vibrate my Ringtone. My Notifications and System options automatically white out so that I cannot change them.
Ultimately I want Ringtone (Phone Calls) on vibrate all the time and my Messages Notifications to play a small chime.

? You're right. Guess I never tried it, just assumed it would work.
Ok, do this: Go to Settings, then Sounds and Vibrations. Click on Ringtone. Then set it to Silent.

My apologies for the delay in the response. I set it up and did some testing and this is working perfectly. Thank you very much for the reply. I greatly appreciate your help. :good:
Hi all
I've just bought the Note 9 after managing to crack the screen of my Note 8, which was also on Android 9 and One UI.
Since getting the new phone, I've had some issues with notifications when the screen is off - Whatsapp doesn't notify, unless I switch notifications on but then I'm stuck with the annoying whatsapp pop-up, and it doesn't show up on lock screen notifications.
As well as this, I also have a problem with whatsapp when screen on, not showing all messages. It will either say "conversation: x messages" or "x messages from y conversations"
I had this working just perfectly on my note 8 but I'm really struggling on the Note 9! I hope someone can help?!

The pop-up notification can be disabled in WhatsApp settings > Notifications > Pop-up Notifications > No pop-up.
Check your lock-screen notification settings and then individual app setting of Whatsapp (new addition in Pie) and check if notification is disabled on lock screen.

Do you have many unread chats? Try marking some of them as Read.
If the notification is minimal, then the Message Notification (in individual notification setting) may have been set as 'Silent and Minimized'.

When I disable whatsapp popup, nothing happens, just the screen doesn't wake up at all when a whatsapp alert comes in.
Have checked app setting, which seems ok, and notification on lock screen isn't hidden

Hey, can I have the screenshot of the pop-up you're referring to? I think I may have confused heads-up notification with WhatsApp Message Pop-up.

Hiya,
in terms of the pop up issue, I've found something from the forum which seems to have restored it - disabling lightedge whilst screen on. I'm a bit annoyed about this as I quite like the effect, and it does disable it for all apps, even all the others which work perfectly fine, but hey ho!
My main issue really is whatsapp not waking the screen unless I turn on the whatsapp notification, and I hate that box lol
Thats the real thing I want to try and find a cure for if possible......
