Okay so I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 that's originally on AT&T but I have a Straight Talk SIM card that I want to use in my Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The problem is is that I also want to use my Straight Talk hotspot but on most AT&T phones it does not work. Is there a hack for this? Or there is there a way to reprogram? Or do I have to root my note 9? Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi's you're my only hope.
I have the same problem
Has anyone found a solution to this?
I just received notice this week that Straigh Talk is now including 10GB Hotspot on my plan but on my ATT Note 9 (SM-N960U) when I first attempt to turn this on I get notified that it is not supported on my account. I've chatted with their support 3 times this week, and they keep applying the Hotspot to my account and I've rebooted my phone multiple times but still yet I get this error message.
Now funny enough I can still actually get the Hotspot enabled and I can connect to it from my other devices; however, they are not able to browse the internet when they get connected.
Really hoping to get this resolved before to long.

I'm using straight talk on an at&t s6 edge. Trying to get the google voice voicemail to work. I've tried the mmi code **004*gmnumber# to activate conditional call forwarding, but I always get "couldn't get server response".. Trying to change the voicemail service provider also gives errors. "Can not read data. Network or sim error"
I have tried the individual mmi codes for different kinds of conditional call forwarding, but get same error:"couldn't get server response".
I have read that at&t controls the conditional call forwarding service, being the original carrier for straight talk, but because I don't have an active account, they can not change features for my number.
The ST rep tells me that there might be a hardware specific mmi code that Samsung may provide?
Does anyone have any solutions?
Thanks guys,
Gozirra
Gozirra, I was having a similar problem with my iPhone 6 (on AT&T) and my S6 (on Cricket). I think it may wind up being these phones (both are AT&T branded). I wound up swapping the sim card into a spare (Cricket branded) Moto G LTE and the MMI code worked without issue.
This exactly what I just did and it works. For months I have been trying to forward my Cricket voicemail to Google Voice, from Samsung S5. I couldn't. I called Cricket, they said there's nothing they can do. I then I saw gm2racer's post, used my sim card in my son's Samsung Prime. Voila.
Same issue here with S6 active + straight talk and with youmail as well.. invalid mmi.. straight talk says they dont support conditional forwarding, however 3 windows phones prior all worked on ST (both att and vzw phones)..
Frustrating enough i'm considering switching to tmobile (not willing to switch phones per say, i just got the s6)
I know this isnt the most hit thread on this topic, but today I resolved my issue... I have an AT&T (unlocked cause its older and paid for) Galaxy S6 (SM-G920A), that I simply plugged in the cricket SIM from my older Cricket phone and started using on their network. I got the immediate system text messages that reconfigured most of the call settings and the phone worked fine but in the past couple months, i keep getting complaints that i dont have voice mail set up from callers.
I did, I do, and I have used my google voice number for years now, and use it for my outbound calling (install the gv app and have it set outbound for all to GV). I also use GV as my mailbox... and I know how to use the **004 string to change forwarding (conditional, as in when you dont answer, cant answer, etc).
But with my AT&T S6 and the MM 6.0.1 (DQC1 official AT&T rom) - that 004 string wouldnt work. Neither would changing forwarding settings from the phone settings. They all state they cant talk to the server... and theres no option in my call settings for voicemail to set voice as the handler (versus your carrier).
So I was kind of stuck.. and here is what I did.
I flashed it using odin to the sm-g920aZ QB2 firmware (as in , the Cricket firmware for the S6, 6.0.1 MM version in March 2017).
I know.. it is taking a risk as some people state it doesent work.. some do.. well.. mine did. And since I have never tried to get root or do a custom OS, i am still official (thats all I have ever flashed, was official ROMs), and galaxy pay works, and the phone works, more or less perfectly from what I can tell. In fact, its got a TON less bloatware running a cricket ROM vs AT&T ROM.
And lo and behold, call forwarding works great now. And I actually got a firmware update notice from cricket 5 minutes after it was flashed.. and, well... all I can say is COOL.
I would probably stay with a MM (6.0.1) version of the ROM or match whatever you have now. I understand once you go to nougat, you cant go back to MM, and that may be true for moving between carrier ROMs also.. (cant go from Cricket 7 to at&t 6).
Anyhow.. Ive done a ton of research on this and thought since XDA helped out immensely (thanks everyone for posting roms and such), I would give ya'll a heads up that this worked for me.
I might go ahead and take those cricket firmware updates OTA. I know its a risk, as my phone is really a 920A (it shows as 920AZ now in settings also), but I really think its the exact same hardware... if I brick it I'll let ya'll know.
Confirmed, updates are good.

I let it go ahead and apply all of the recent Cricket updates to the S6 (920AZ) and confirmed its been running fine for 2 days now with no issues and no loss of functionality.
Makes me wonder what setting was changed by the cricket firmware - that allowed call forwarding to work properly and be set/reset/accessed by the device? The network and device didn't change, just the firmware.. but I dont see anything in the APN settings that relates to voice mail (maybe its something else that needs to change to allow CF settings?)
ANyhow.. your mileage may vary.. and Cricket firmware is WAY less bloated than AT&T for sure!
Hey Guys,
FINALLY found a store with a 64 gb T-Mobile note5 and I return my original 32 gb with joy, to return home to find the Wifi is completely broken.
Just wanted to check to see if anyone has seen anything like this before. I'm just stumped. The T-Mobile store I bought it from told me to hold on to it as they don't know when they will get more Note5's in 64gb.
I have included a gif of the problem and I just can't find a single thread to point me in the right direction.
(Fwiw: I have reset it numerous times, deleted caches, even odin'd the original stock Tmobile Note5 rom to see if it was software and still no go. )
https://slimgur.com/images/2015/08/26/df7e0bc454a34434ac812c975a5bfda0.gif
It will stay connected until the moment I pull data from wifi etc and no matter what it just goes crazy like the gif. No matter what wifi network it is, even the T-mobile Store one was making it go crazy.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm also having problems with wifi connection my my vzw 64gb however nothing like this gif

Can you keep a connection ? What issue do you have?
Does anyone have a Gear S3(AT&T LTE version) and got it to work with NumberSync on their International Note 8(SM-N950F)? AT&T chat seems to have no clue as to why it won't work(I'm basically thinking since it's an international version and not branded At&T), but the reps can't confirm that. They just say buy a new device that is NumberSync capable, but when I ask them which phones are those, they can't give me an answer..
They thought it was my IMEI, which at the AT&T store, they had to spoof the IMEI from my Moto X Pure Style to get the 4G/LTE to work correctly.
It would just be great to have the NumberSync to work, but I have no problems with the Bluetooth connection for now.

Have you tried reseting the watch?Numbersync works in part with the stock messaging app. AT&T advanced messaging syncs your messages to the server and then it gets forwarded to your Gear. For numbersync to work on the international version you will most likely need to odin the AT&T stock image since it wont have the Advance messaging or try installing the advance messaging files. I've had my fair share of numbersync issues but eventually it got better with my S3/S8+ and now Note 8.

Hmmm... I see you have a US version of the Note 8, so you're probably in a better situation than I am atm. My Note 8 on my account only shows up as unknown device. I haven't been on this page as much since rooting my phone, so I'll follow up on the CSC flashing or ODIN AT&T image, if that's possible now. I'll look for Advance messaging as well. I know the Gear S3 still shows that when not in bluetooth or Wi-FI, it shows remotely connected, I still get notifications of miss calls from my phone, so it's sending me notifications in that sense, limited...
Thanks for the mentioned options, I'll look into them.
I tried to access NumberSync through my account but it says note 8 not compatible
Make sure you are signed into the myAT&T app. It uses that to sync your info/number.
Hi! Thanks for reading my problem.
I have a tmobile note 8 that I have successfully switched to verizon firmware according to the guide here. It got the verizon boot logo and bloatware just like vzw phone.
It work perfectly after the switch, 4g lte ,call or text all work.
But it will drop after a while of use. It can be a few hours or few minutes. I cannot receive call, cannot access internet, cannot make call...
If I restart it all will become working again for a while. Any recommendation how to fix it? Thanks again.
I have a note 8 (SM-N950F/DS) for about three weeks now. I am using FP on AT&T network. When I just got it, especially while I was moving in the car or train, it would lost the data connection quite often even though showing full bar signal. I had to put it on air plane mode then switched back to reconnect.
Then after 1-2 weeks of use, the issue went away. I don't know it was due to the latest update (I am on Dec security patch now) or some kind of the phone learning my travel pattern.

Interesting, My phone lost it while I m at work... not even moving
For the longest time I thought was alone here. VZ Wireless Note 8 user here. My signal also just drops out of no where. When I look at my screen the 4G LTE upload up arrow is the only one turning up and down. Sometimes this issue will go away on its own after a few minutes or longer. But, randomly out of nowhere this started to happen. Few weeks now and counting I'm guessing it has something to do with a update that I recently upgraded to. I never had this issue when I first had my phone.....
I also have the problem.. Also Verizon branded Note 8.
I see a global Android update coming to possibly address this
From Android Headlines (AH):
"New Android Update For Galaxy Note 8 Improves LTE Stability"
"The latest Android update for the Galaxy Note 8 was designed to improve the stability of the phablet’s 4G LTE functionality as it specifically addresses a bug that occasionally caused interruptions of such connections, as revealed by a changelog published by Samsung earlier this week. The update appears to be rolling out on a global level, with its distribution officially starting on Wednesday, 15 days after the Seoul-based phone maker launched the latest security patch for the same handset."
Starting this month..
Anyone with ideas how to resolve this in the meantime?
I am still having this problem after oreo update.. I don't think I want samsung anymore..
Ok guys those who have Verizon, go to settings, mobile settings and change network to cdma and reset your settings. Turn off the phone, pop the sim tray out, power up ur phone while sim is out and turn off the phone again, this time push ur sim card in and turn on your phone. It should solve the problem of signal being dropped. Good luck.
Hi guys. My goal is to be able to use my AT&T phone/service as a 'hotspot' again, which I have been able to do with my Note 8, but can't get it to work on my Note 9 now. I'm familiar with the technical stuff (thanks to you guys over the years), but need to have an idea of what will solve my problem. Facts first, then what I think might be the issue...
I've been using a Note 8, which I bought overseas, here in the States with my AT&T account which does NOT have the hotspot feature included. It just works though. I put in my SIM and it all boots up fine (with no ATT branding during boot) and my Note 8 has a hotspot feature, which I turn on and it works just like it's supposed to. No issues at all.
Now, I have an unlocked T-Mobile Note 9 that I want to use instead of the Note 8 I bought overseas. When I put ANY US carrier SIM in it, it forces a reboot, and when it boots up it shows whichever carrier's SIM I put in it. If I put a Verizon SIM in it, it reboots and starts showing the Verizon logo during boot, and the same with ATT, etc.
I don't mind that, HOWEVER, now when I try to use the hotspot feature, I get a warning saying something like 'your plan doesn't have the hotspot feature. Please go to to our website to choose a plan that does' and the hotspot feature is blocked completely.
Is it blocked on this unlocked T-Mobile Note 9 because it installs any SIM's bootloader each time or something? I am assuming that allows/forces the carriers to install all their own stuff each time I put a new SIM card in it, which would allow them to also block the hotspot feature on my ATT account, since it's not included in my plan.
If this is the case, is there a way to 'fix' this? I know it's unlocked because it works with other carriers, but I'm thinking maybe the bootloader is locked or something, and if I'm able to unlock it I could put a new OEM flash on it, and maybe it would work just like my unlocked Note 8 that I bought overseas which allows the hotspot feature.
Please advise, if you have any ideas for me. (Unlocked T-Mobile Note 9 SM-N960U)
I would hazzard a guess AT&T is blocking you. I have mobile hotspot in my plan and it works fine on my note9.
You need to flash the u1 firmware for hotspot to work.
Thanks for the help. I'll update this later if it still doesn't work after flashing.

youll need the patched version of Odin to flash cross carrier firmware. Not a biggie, just know that regular Odin will fail. Not might, will.
