Hi guys I want to ask about the after effects of unlocking bootloader of k20 pro (China rom)
I tried searching for the threads on these but it seems there's not much answer to it
I read that once bootloader is unlocked, certain apps like banking apps can't be used
And Google pay can't be used too. Is this correct?
What else am I missing?
rooting also renders some apps unusable right?
I want to flash my k20 pro (China rom) to oxygen os
But these are the trade offs right?
I want to o root my phone to over clock my screen to 81 Hz too
My questions in a nutshell :
Is the oxygen os stable? Any bugs?
If unlock bootloader many apps cannot be used? (banking apps, lottery apps, Google pay, etc)
i learnt that xiaomi has this anti rollback thing that bricks your phone if you try to root? How does this works?
I know there's a google pay fix file for flashing with TWRP recovery if someone else can help with a link or if you can look for it in one of the guides. You can hide banking apps with magisk hide and use normally.
Oxygen OS isn't stable as far as i know.
This is the first time I've heard from you about brick I the phone with root, i don't think it's true.

There is no Oxygen OS port for this phone, your only option for that will be a GSI, which will have a few minor issues.
Using Magisk to root the phone will allow you to allow you to keep on using all your financial apps, etc. Magisk is able to hide from other apps the fact that phone is rooted. If you've not used Magisk before, go search these forums for the devs thread on it. He gives you a lot of good guides and info.
There are a few guides for getting GPay to work on this phone, just search the K20 Pro sub forums.
Anti rollback does what it says. It prevents you from reverting back to an earlier version of MIUI. It has nothing to do with having a rooted phone. So far Xiaomi has not activated this yet for this phone.
Hello guys, When i'm converting Mi A2 into 6x i forgot to delete Firmware-Update Folder. Now my phone Running MIUI well but can't back to Android One.
I tried Mi Flash but it's not taking flash.
Any way to go back Android One?
Only possible by test point, you have to open your phone if you want to go back to Android One.
Hi! I have the MIUI 12.0.1.0 stable ROM but I do not like it at all, is there any way to go back to MIUI 11?
I do not have the bootloader unlocked but I can do it if it's necessary, but where can i find the stable build from MIUI 11 for the Mi 9T Pro?
Which steps must I follow to downgrade the ROM? Do I really have to install TWRP or it fits if I do it with only the bootloader unlocked?
When I do it, will I lose all the media like pics?
What's wrong with MIUI 12? The biggest surface changes are the font (which you can change via the Themes app), battery icon (this shouldn't matter enough to risk bricking your device), and the new control panel, which can be reverted in settings.
Downgrading OS will require you to wipe your entire device, otherwise you'll risk bricking it, so I very, very strongly suggest that you unlock your bootloader and install magisk so that you can solve your issues either through settings or by rooting, rather than downgrading OS.
I agree with AvgZing. Although unlocking bootloader is safer imo.
Miui12 isn't much different from miui11. and the control center can be disabled. You'll get updates that fix any miui12 bugs soon anyways. So just stick with what you have.
You have reason guys, i forgot I can change the contorl panel and do some modifications to customize the apperance. Thank you!
I wanna downgrade too, I've been getting horrible battery life on my Mi 9T after this update. When I bought it last year december, and it was amazing with 12 hours of screen on time, now barely makes it to 5

miui10 was a beast. it ran android pie, and gives 12hrs sot easily.
however 5hrs is very very low, you might want to consider battery damage?
Do try some aosp roms.
via root, I use naptime and servicely apps to reach 12hrs sot as well even on android 10, all aosp roms
Standby drain in MIUI10 was as it should be.
I don't actually use my Mi9T Pro heavily; most of the time it's standby. I went from charging once a week to every two days as soon as I switched to MIUI11. Clean flash, still a new handset. No change in usage. MIUI11 is absolutely terrible for battery life.
... and you're telling me it's worse in MIUI12!?
Something is seriously wrong with the updates for this device.
As in, 'get your pitchforks' bad.
Is there a way to go back to miui 10 from 12? I love how that ran and I don't use these gimmicks

thanks sorry but what is OF recovery? And how does one get to it? I have a mi10 on miui 12 (maybe can only downgrade to miui 11 but nevertheless the procedure might be similar-so am asking) When I go to recovery, (Mi recovery 3.0) I see reboot, wipe data and connect with Miassistant (Mi suite never connects-not had any luck on various Xiaomi devices regardless of miui level on W10 or W 8.1). Thanks for any assistance.

Don't use stock recovery.
OF = Orange Fox Recovery
just google with your device name. U should get OF.
in order to flash OF u must have unlocked bootloader,
( and OEM unclocking must be enabled in Developer Options )
u can follow these steps,
TAKE ALL BACKUP IN LAPTOP/PC.
boot in OF recovery.
FORMAT DATA.
reboot to recovery again
connect device to PC
copy Recovery ROM ZIP file to device
flash
reboot
done...

Thanks. I am waiting for 168 hours for unlocking -lol. I was hoping for some method outside of fastboot/unlocking BL. That mi pc suite-does that ever work? using stock recovery to reinstall rom like Hsuite on Huawei? Thanks.

thanks same issue...frustrating stuff. Fails at 95 or 99 percent. Had this issue before don't recall how it got fixed (on other devices). The Mi PC Suite is a total mystery (never detects phone regardless which version-only thing remains not tried on Windows 7). It has not worked even on Mi Max 3, Mi Mix.
Miui 12 got my battery lasting 50% of what it did before and it changed my call volumes to 0... Hope I am able to revert
tried no luck dude. i'm on miui 12 stable indian version (curtana)

Hello, while debloating the MIUI I accidentally removed com.xiaomi.finddevice that resulted in MIUI spamming toasts "Find device was destroyed". I learned later that I would had got a bootloop if I rebooted then. After this, I reinstalled finddevice with pm install-existing, got a single "Find device stopped unexpectedly" toast and that was all. MIUI looks like working normally now, I even got a push notification prompting to enable Find Device. I'd like to know if the system is fixed now and I can reboot safely or not? I don't have the bootloader unlocked yet so it would be difficult to recover after that bootloop, or Xiaomi device lock, or whatever could happen.
Now I have these packages that look like crucial enabled:
Code:
galahad:/ $ pm list packages -e | grep -E "security|find|account"
package:com.xiaomi.account
package:com.miui.securityadd
package:com.miui.securitycenter
package:com.miui.securitycore
package:com.xiaomi.finddevice
package:com.lbe.security.miui
Are there any other packages that I need to install? Thanks.

Thanks for reply. How should I do it, with Mi Flash?
Also I'm waiting for the bootloader unlock timer, Mi Unlock says that I shouldn't log out of my Mi Account as the timer will reset. Would reflashing reset that timer too? Or maybe I should first wait for unlock timer to timeout without rebooting and then try to perform any actions?

I suggest you to wait for the time and then unlock bootloader first.
With unlocked bootloader, you can do anything you want to the device.
If you want to backup the state of the unlocked bootloader, just follow my guide:

Got it, I'll wait. I'm not sure if the unlock would work though, maybe the Mi Account on the phone was corrupted somehow (com.xiaomi.finddevice was probably the only crucial package that I removed, com.xiaomi.account wasn't affected, Mi Account section in Settings looks like working correctly, but I don't know what to expect) and Mi Unlock will possibly refuse to unlock bootloader, however, to check it I need to boot into Fastboot.

If you can see the timer, probably everything is okay for unlocking the bootloader.
Your best chance is try.
If you can't unlock bootloader, probably you need to flash the whole MIUI rom again and re-start the process of unlocking again.
Once the timer finish, just attach the screenshots, and I will try to help you
Update: I unlocked bootloader without any problems. Mi Unlock factory resetted my phone and after reboot factory reset protection was triggered, so I entered my google account credentials and got no further problems. Now I've switched to a GSI ROM.
So, if you're willing to debloat your MIUI, I strongly recommend you to do it only with XiaomiADBFastbootTools's Debloater. It doesn't delete packages essential for system and you can reinstall them if something goes wrong. DO NOT REMOVE APPS MANUALLY WITH ADB UNINSTALL OR PM UNINSTALL UNLESS YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE DOING! If it happened, do not reboot, log into adb shell and use:
pm install-existing <package_name> or
pm enable --user 0 <package_name>
I bought a used mi 11 ultra ..after that i figured out that the seller had been unlocked bootloader...rooted it...and installed a eu. Custom rom
.. i have checked for imei ..and it shows Mi activation lock is ON
Btw i tried to call the seller but he didnt answer... so i have been deceived
Now i dont know anything about MAGISK or custom roms ...
i heard if i format the phone it will be locked at mi account
also THE FINGERPRINT isnot working that i think the root or the custom ROM is the reason
So ..1)if i flashed a custom rom...will the phone be locked?
2) if i installed a magisk modules...will the phone be bricked or locked.. ? Iam afraid to do any clicks or actions so the phone could be bricked
I think the rom is defected ..as reverse wireless charging...fingerprint featers are not working
Sorry for my english ...
1). since your device's bootloader is already unlocked, mi activation lock is not a concern. You can always wipe it clean of all the password lock along with all your data if you haven't backup. a clean install of custom rom will not lock your device.
2). installing magisk will give you root access to android system. i recommend you don't do that unless you have specific reason to do so. It is risky to install suspicious module on your daily phone with banking apps and card information. and yes, you could brick your device with root access.
3). if you are new to custom rom, i recommend searching a tutorial on YouTube for "fastboot mi 11 ultra global stable"
Later you can read more on this forum to try out custom rom at your own risk.

So you mean that i can flash any custom rom ...the phone will not be locked ..
Bty I found that ..mi account in settings cant open it...seems clearly the seller did mi activation lock bypass ..can i permanently remove the activation lock ..so i can use my mi account and flash official roms.?.
Also security status in settings[ below about phone row] cant be opened...
And whats the best custom rom ..offers stability ...max .pubg fps..and optimized battery consumption...since the flashed rom is already defected ...fingerprint and wireless charging not working
.last thing .. if you dont mind ..send me your TELEGRAM or whats so i can ask you some steps to how flash roms ..so iam afraid i could miss anything and brick the phone .
Thanks
I use and recommend using xiaomi.eu ROM, i don't know if is the same there, but you can install it and don't need to root.
