I was one of the impatient people that tried to cancel their order for the developer edition (sent an email) and ran out on Friday morning and bought the ATT version. The next I noticed that orders were being shipped (mine being one of them). Long story short, I rented the ATT one for the $35 restocking fee for the weekend and now have my dev. edition in my hands.
I noticed one person mention a yellow tint to thier screen, and when I compared my phone to the ATT, sure enough it was very apparent. I have heard and come up with a few reasons why looking around online. I want to get your thoughts on what is causing this, if it will go away and if you can see it in yours. With that said I compared to my wife's S3 and it is still a load better than her screen in every way.
1. The phone was just recently built and the glue is still drying - not sure if I buy that one but it is a theory
2. Defective screens - could be, but I would think that would be easy to spot in any quality control process... no dead pixels that I can see (or stuck) but a uniform yellow tint across the entire screen
3. Could it be the ATT software tweaks that make thier's whiter? I almost feels like the "temperature" of the screen has just shifted toward a yellow / warm. Could this be the default screen settings and ATT actually did something GOOD to the phone rather than just installing apps, etc. Do they even have this ability?
Either way - I am going to keep the developer phone. If it is glue it will dry, if it is defective I will wait for stock to build up and exchange with LetsTalk, and if it is something ATT did, I will wait for a custom ROM to allow me to configure the settings.
Curious to everyone else's thoughts... and if they notice the same thing (or are able to compare to T-Mobile, etc)

Well I'm not owning a HTC phone, but I had a yellow tint issue with my Xperia S(it happened to the fresh new ones, just after it was launched, some said the same thing you said at 1. (glue still drying), but the effects are still visible now, and the phone is 1 year old already. So, it may be something similar here. I am sorry for not being able to confirm as I don't have the phone, but I'm giving some info...

The Dev edition is Warmer while the ATT is cooler. I can clearly see the difference. I'll have to compare the dev edition when it arrives tom to the T-mobile version.
I have an AT&T version and a 32GB unlocked and the color temperature of the 32GB unlocked is definitely a little warmer. I don't have any professional instruments so I can't measure the white point and tell you whether the AT&T version is too cold or the unlocked version is too warm, but honestly, if I didn't put them side by side, I don't think I would have noticed.
As to the cause, it could be simple device to device variance. Maybe some AT&T versions have a warmer color temperature as well. Or maybe the AT&T is using a panel from a different manufacturer. Or it could be the firmware. The AT&T version is running 1.26 and the unlocked version is on 1.29 with a slightly newer kernel. Maybe the warmer temperature is part of the newer software and the AT&T version will be that way too when it gets the update. Who knows.
I got the 32 gb unlocked today and it looks cooler like the att version in the pictures
There was a thread posted before talking about how the htc one may have different screen manufacturer's. So some may have a Samsung screen, other sharp etc etc.

Verizon has a blue model, but Best Buy is selling a different shade of blue called "Metallic Blue" for Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T.
So long as the best buy version for sprint is blue with the black trim, pretty sure that's gonna be what I get. If it's the white trim, I'm just gonna stick with the black.

It's black trim. It's pretty sick looking.
I went to the HTC website. It looked as though they were advertising the exclusivity of colors as a good thing (BB- Metallic blue, Sprint red, Verizon blueish).
Just goes to show how desperate they are.

That's what I was thinking, especially seeing it on their website, but you never know. First time I saw it I thought "gee, that's lame. That black is so much cooler looking." Then I kept seeing it and it grew on me. Apple must have been channeling me, because when I saw it my first thought was to somehow get a color matched background for it. Then they released a whole line of phones based on that idea.

That's not my point. Did you see the big ol' sign over the red and blue phones that signaled exclusivity?
Plus, Samsung is Samsung: a marketing machine. I thought HTC was different. I guess not.

I don't think HTC can gamble with not doing something like this. Just because Samsung does it, doesn't mean HTC can't. You'd be surprised how many people choose a phone based on the color of its shell. More options means better chances of finding someone to want it. And to be quite honest, HTC's phone colors are MUCH better than what Samsung has brought to the table.

Very good point. I think this is a great way for any device manufacturer to breed new life into their devices and keep a sustaining profit. Just look at the new iPhones obviously there is some sense of reasoning behind all this marketing.
As for the cost factor it's a no brainer obviously all the hardware is still there platform OS everything all they have to do is coloring.

You make it sound like we have a problem with the variety of colors. I don't.
What I'm absolutely livid about is that I have buyer's remorse over a phone that is CURRENTLY a flagship, and that, if only I had waited longer, I could have gotten a different color.
Staggering the releases of colors (there's been a gold One spotted) and making certain colors carrier exclusive comes exclusively at the cost of the customer. If I can afford the damn phone, I don't want to still have to make sacrifices like not getting the color I want at the time I want or with the carrier I like.
It's redonkulous.

There are ways around that. Like looking for someone to trade, or selling your phone for whatever it's going for on Craigslist and taking that money and buying another one that might be available from a private seller. But they don't release them all at once like that because they need something to continue the steady sales. If they release all the colors at once, they won't continue to get buyers 3 months after its release.

I would look at it differently. The one has been out for a while now and they are late to the game. So why not let them have incentive to purchase a premium device that you helped pioneer by being on the bleeding edge. Colors are great but if it matters enough there are many ways around getting into that newest phone. However intoxicated I may become with the miasma of spectrum I still prefer the been here since day one, (Silver) One.
Lol next gimmick will be just that, (preorders) will get a special color.

This will probably be pretty popular. As it stands in the iPhone the most popular colored so far is yellow so I'm thinking the mass majority of consumers appreciate yellow hues. Personally I'd like to see contrast or custom collection like blue/orange, purple/yellow, red/green and maybe Oreo.

Just wanted to see if devs are still going to be developing for this device with all the issues that are STILL happening apparently. It's such a shame because I absolutely love this phone. TEKs and OVERDRIVE roms looked real promising. I would just to keep a phone for 2 years if of developing is going to die off.
well considering a 2nd recall by samsung will most likely happen within the next few days according to t-mo. i would say the development for the n7 is done period. i got a feeling the n7 won't be back on the market after this either. samsung will probably scrap em all and move on to the s8 or even the note8 which will most likely need to be renamed as this whole thing has literally damaged the notes name.

The Note4 is my daily driver again, took back my replacement Note 7 yesterday.
It's basically got all the functionality where it really matters, the S-Pen.
The other features that were heavily marketed were of no consequence to me.
I definitely notice the difference between the two as for overall performance, but, it's not an awful experience by any stretch.
Throw your ROM of choice on the Note4 & ya got yourself a very comparable experience.

My phone before this was actually a note 4 and the only reason I went to a note 7 was because my phone was stolen. I was running abstrak rom (now discontinued). I'm probably going to see what mm roms they have for it now. Since I have to purchase another note 4, it will probably be on mm and I dont even know if it's rootable. My old note 3 and 4 were excellent phones, it just pisses me off that Samsung stops updates for older phones basically forcing you to upgrade phones. That being said, I'm sure the note 4 will never get a future update.
And, lights out.......

You guys believe a Note 7 V3 will ship with rootable firmware?
I seriously doubt it, we caught a lucky break on this one & some on V2 were left out in the cold w/a phone dead for development.
It's a nice phone without root, Package Disabler apps help a lot, along with a decent Ad Blocker, but, not enough for Round 3 on the exact same phone.
I'll check in on the next iteration, the Note 8,or whatever they'll call it.....

When Samsung has a major fiasco they recall all the product gather all the staff in the court house and destroy the product in front of them and the manager of that department is then banned from the company for life. Korean custom. Not only did the guy lose his job he disgraced his Family for generation to come. Going back to Note 7 the product is being discontinued it was announced in German newspapers today
GREAT!! *sarcasm*
My Note 5 was messing up and I got the 7 for the upgrade.
I'll have to debate this, as mine was one of the ones that wasn't a replacement or recalled. But with no rooting ability, or way to drop back a version to gain root...might have to go back to the Note 5.
I never even attempted to try the software update. I didn't like the stupid green battery icons or grouped notifications. I still have my v2 on original release firmware with updates blocked. I like the phone uprooted but I do not like the current software for it. It's a shame because I love phone otherwise, but without future root to make those small tweaks on the v3, I think I'll wait until I find something I really like. I've always been a Samsung guy that being said I'm not a real Fan of pure Google type phones. For some reason I really like touchwiz (ya I know).
Like many of you, I stood in queue at T-Mobile to get the 6T at Times Square. While there's controversy surrounding the bootloader unlock, I'm not too fussed about that since I paid outright and didn't trade in any devices.
What I am fussed about however, is the quality of the photos I've taken with the 6T. It looks like it isn't capturing true colours with auto mode. I'm sure I can get amazing shots if I dial it in, but I didn't think the auto mode would be this off. Take a look for yourself, top picture is the 6T and the bottom is taken with my wife's iPhone XS Max.
https://i.imgur.com/iDM9Q5w.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/KbHQarQ.jpg
It appears as if the 6T's shots are washed and dark. I'm not a photographer by any means, but I know a good shot when I see one. Both were taken seconds from each other, auto mode, point and shoot. My car wrap is satin purple, satin dark grey, and gloss silver. It wasn't exactly bright outside but there was plenty of light for a good shot to go through. Clearly the iPhone took the better shot here.. but it looks like this is the case for all the photos I've taken on the 6T. Pictures are a bit off and portray inaccurate colours.
Anyone else having this issue?

The tmobile 6T has not received any of the update from oneplus yet. Its still on Oxygen OS 9.0.
Oneplus has pushed update to Oxygen OS 9.0.4 with fixes to camera and other things.
The best way of comparing the photos from two phone is by sending a photo to the another phone and check the difference. The reason for this is to check on a single device, as each device might have tweak the display colour calibration differently like one on rgb and other on dci-p. So, if check on each device one photo might be washout.
Just my experience.
I'm new to the OnePlus world - going to trade in my Note5 for the 6T, despite the lack of headphone jack and no wireless charging (which I said I'd never do without again). The $300 trade in is just too much of a good offer. Anyone know if OP does things like tweak the camera software to address things like this?

I've noticed this as well, and it is alarming. I see that 9.0.4 is being pushed out and the 6T that several YouTubers have is 9.0.3, so I'm guessing these T-Mobile phones that were given to us are very old and never were updated, and T-Mobile is not pushing the update.
I'm on the brink of returning this phone because I don't want to deal with the headache of version mismatch/delayed updates to Oxygen OS. On the other hand, I have absolutely no plans on staying on standard Oxygen OS and will be flashing custom ROM's as soon as they're available. My only scare is that developers may be required to create multiple versions to make their ROM work with the T-Mobile variant, which means less variety for me as a flash addict.
Actually, I'm just going to return it. I don't mind ordering it from OnePlus tomorrow morning and getting it next week (priority shipping + processing times means if we order it Thursday morning, we'll get it Tuesday/Wednesday next week). T-Mobile's got a good deal for those that need the trade in credit, but I don't need it and don't need the headaches that come with branded phones. I got some goodies from them, and some experiences that I won't forget (an Asian guy that was waiting in queue was telling people that were walking by that the wait was to see Justin Bieber/Ricky Ricardo etc. and it was hilarious) but ultimately, I want the normal phone everyone's getting. Plus, no taxes and it's cheaper from OnePlus' website = a win in my book.

I'm betting that once it is unlocked, and OOS from OnePlus is installed, that that second sim will be active. OP selling these phones as cheap as they are, im almost positive they didn't run two separate production runs.
It starts to show up after three days
Gray appears green
i opened my new edge today after purchasing yesterday, and it had green screen issue too .. called moto and was told they had numerous calls about it..this sucks cause this seemed like a decent phone especially for $200 off

Right side for me. Still, just because it's faded doesn't mean it's over. I wanted to unlock the bootloader, but I can't go voiding the warrantee when I may end up needing it.
I'll probably return it and wait for the US release of the G 5G equivalent.
If all it needed was a break-in, that should've been done at the factory.

I am in the same situation. I see the green tint, but it isn't as bad as when I first turned it on.
I posted a new thread over in the Q&A with a poll about it. The moto support forums are starting to buzz with folks complaining, and the best buy reviews are starting to roll in with photos. Moto may have a slightly big problem on their hand.
Mine did the same after just 1 week, i send it to the service and they said they ordered the hardware for replacement, couldnt return the phone and get my money back
UK model (single sim) MOTP-EDGBLK - same issue.
Only apparent when the brightness is below 50%.
I received #4 replacement
This time I noticed some changes in hardware
The screen looks OK for 18 days
Nothing funny so far
I returned mine back to Amazon and bought another - after 3 days, same issue.
Gave up, got a refund and bought a Pixel 5.
Such a shame, I really liked the Moto Edge design, size and battery life. Unfortunately it seems that Motorola can't make phones, had a screen related issue on my Moto X Force a few years back too, seems like Motorola have not improved at all.

I assume it's difficult to have good yields due to the waterfall design. There could be a relatively high failure for this type of design.
It's funny how my 2nd Edge is exhibiting the same green tint. I was so sure I could put this behind me.

The waterfall design isn't new though. Other OEMs have made similar style displays (Samsung, OPPO etc) and none then have such a high failure rate like this.

Whatever the source is, Moto is clearly struggling to obtain good panels. Reviews say the screen is great but they fail so easily. It's beyond strange.
Day 23 of #4 replacement unit
It's still too early to say trouble free, but compare it with the one on first post
I changed the theme to white in all apps, it's weird because the only color that appears green is grey

Green tint seems to come before purple streaks and double images, no? Look at reviews on best buy, green tint is the least of your worries.
Also you could use swift installer to make certain apps black. I only noticed the green tint cause I happened to have another phone next to the edge.
3 days in from bestbuy retail stock, box has a 20 october 2020 date on it. No screen issues. Of course, when I have the light theme enabled there are often situations where I can see a slight greenish/grey hue to the edge as it begins to curve. That's just optics and not at all as some of the pics I have seen. Sweet ride so far.
As of December 8th, no more purple blotches, which has shadows of the notification bar, and cutout. Hasn't happened in about 2 weeks. I did notice, with the latest build(October), that the battery drains a touch faster. Still don't know if it's curing of screen materials, or update.
Screen is still perfect after full 8 weeks
