[GUIDE] Google Camera on Redmi Note 8T and DCP profile in Lightroom - Redmi Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

How to get proper DCP (DNG camera profile) for Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T into Lightroom
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8/8T's main camera is very good and it gets even better if you push a port of Google Camera into it. I use this one and it the following guide is based on photos taken from it: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog729/
Google Camera allows you to start capturing RAW (DNG) and then you can process these RAW files in Adobe Lightroom using the Adobe Camera Raw engine. Google Camera allows to also use its excellent Night Sight mode which allows you to capture amazing photos in the dark from the hand with very little noise and stunning details.
If you are going to get the maximum detail from the DNG RAW files you will however notice that Adobe Camera Raw does not have a proper camera-specific profile for processing the raw files and the colours are very unsaturated and unsatisfactory by default.
However, a user named hyyz17200 posted a DCP for a different Xiaomi phone (Mi8) at https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...era-dng-raw-calibration-t3881887/post78488520, and fortunately the profile is very suitable also for DNGs taken on Redmi Note 8. I modified the DCP just by changing the camera name to suit Note 8T: https://akasha.brozkeff.net/owncloud/index.php/s/LtbpqN1MpXZOKlB
Steps to do:
Unpack DCP file prepared by hyyz17200, change camera name to „Google Redmi Note 8T“ in the XML file, repack it back to DCP, or just download the DCP modified by me for Redmi Note 8T: https://akasha.brozkeff.net/owncloud/index.php/s/LtbpqN1MpXZOKlB
Copy the DCP file to C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\
Open Lightroom Classic and import some DNG from the mobile phone. Open Develop settings and in the right panel open Profiles and switch from Embedded to the newly visible profile „Google Redmi Note 8T“. Suddenly the image should look more or less normal, with properly saturated colours. (See screenshot 1 below)
In the left panel open Presets and create a camera-specific Preset where you uncheck all the other parameters except „Treatment & Profile“. (See screenshot 2 below)
Open Lightroom Preferences -> Presets, check „Override master settings for specific cameras“, in Camera select Google Redmi Note 8T and then in the Default drop-down menu select the newly created Preset that is linked to the new DCP Profile. Confirm. (See screenshot 3 below)
Profit! All future imported DNGs matching this camera name will use the right DCP instead of the default one. To have the photos properly sharp it may be necessary to use much higher sharpening value than usually for photos from regular camers. I use something between 50-70. Also I usually push Shadows value to 50-75.

Thank you very much for this! Since I bought the Note 8T I found myself taking more photos with the phone than with the DSLR camera which was a no-go for me before. I use GCam and Lightroom and this is great to have the raw profile.

Interesting!
I use a portable version of Lightroom and I cannot add this profile... don't know how to plant this profile in that folder because upon closing the software, folder is erased...

Best setting for Gcam (portrait) on one plus 3T

Isn't it's awesome that developers ported portrait mode for one plus 3/3T. Here i am showing best setting for Google camera on one plus 3T.

But still we are not able to use portrait from front camera.
What? There's no settings in OP. Please update.
Best settings are still those:

Stable settings for Arnova8G2's apks based on GCam 5.1.014, v10 or above. Tested on a OP3 running LOS 14.1.
Settings:
Config camera HDR+:
Nexus 6 Auto (or something with "Nexus 6" in the name. Nexus 6P and Pixel settings are not stable)
Model:
Pixel 2XL (or Nexus 6P if you want more detailed images)
HDR+ parameters:
Default (or higher)
- Check the "Advanced" menu for some useful settings/features:
-- Portrait mode, RAW, etc (check the main post for a list of working features)
- Android Oreo users: you may need to go to "Debugging and tools" and uncheck "camera.use_photos" so you can see your photos from inside the app.
- The rest (video resolution, camera sounds, etc) is up to you.
Notes/Warnings:
- Some of the options mentioned here are not available on older apks.
- You need to restart the app so the new settings are applied.
Motion Photos:
- You need to be running Android 8+ (doesn't work on Android 7 or older);
- Not tested by me, but some users reported this worked;
- Probably not as stable as the settings above;
Config camera HDR+:
One of the Pixel 2017 settings
Model:
Pixel 2XL
HDR+ parameters:
Default (or higher)
Photo Resolution (important):
(16:9) 12.1 megapixels (4:3 don't work with motion photos)
Warning: You need to restart the app so the new settings are applied.
Screenshots:
Why these settings?
Model:
It's up to you. I use the "Nexus 6P" option because it produces more detailed/crisp photos (downside: more noise) when compared to the Pixel settings. Because most users seem to prefer the "Pixel" quality (less noise and smaller file size, but also less detail), if you are one of them, use the "Pixel 2XL" option.
Config camera HDR+:
On the OP3/3T we are forced to choose one of the "Nexus 6" settings (Nexus 6 Auto, Nexus 6 ZLS, etc). All the other configs crash the app or work partially (but end up crashing under certain conditions... eg: when taking pictures of bright things).
HDR+ parameters:
tl;dr: higher settings = better quality, but it takes more time to process the image.
Others have shared their tests here and the difference is not huge, so start with the "default" setting (the lower available) and go higher if needed.

Best Camera Features of the Honor Play

Best Camera Features of the Honor Play
The Honor Play's camera is way better than other shooters in the same price range. Try these features to get the most out of your Honor Play camera.
1. Aperture Mode
The trick to creating a great wide aperture effect is having a phone with a great camera and software that can accurately differentiate background object from foreground objects. The AI NPU chipset makes all the difference in this area. The phone's ability to identify different objects and and use the dual-cameras to recognize depth, means the Honor Play can create extremely effective aperture mode effects. Get creative with this mode and see what kind of shots your can get.

2. Portrait
Portrait mode is done extremely well on this phone. If it's your first time using portrait mode, know that it's basically your phone detecting the outline of your head/body and blurring the background. The quality of this popular effect comes down to your phone being able to accurately trace your face and remove it from the backdrop.
The Honor Play's large 16MP selfie camera lets you take really detailed selfies that look amazing. Try out the portrait mode with your selfie camera and you're going to be really impressed with the results.
3. AI Mode
AI mode was the main feature advertised in this phone. Toggle it on and try it out. It can really bring out the color in some of your shots. If you don't like the way the effect looks, you can toggle it off afterwards in your galley. I have this feature toggled on at all times, since there's really no reason not to. Your original image is always preserved without the AI, so you can get rid of it later on.
4. Video Format (H.265) (H.264)
You can choose the format in which your videos are encoded. You have the option of H.265 or H.264. The H.265 option will give you a more compressed video resulting in a smaller file size. The H.264 option is a less compressed format and will have slightly higher quality video.
Go to Video > Settings > Video Size > Format. to access this option.
5. Edit Your Camera Menu
With all the different camera modes built into the default camera app, it's nice to be able to customize which modes your have quick access to.
From your camera app, go to More > Edit then you can rearrange all of your different camera modes.

[APP] Picture Manager - Rename pictures with a timestamp and organize to folders

What is Picture Manager?
Some manufactures like HTC and Sony (probably some more) save pictures taken with an incremented number in the filename, instead with a timestamp like other manufactures do.
When you factory reset your device, buy a new device or clean flash a custom rom, the camera picture counter gets reset and starts with e.g. IMAG_00001 again.
This can be an issue once you backup your files to a harddrive on your PC, because you will have duplicate filenames, although the pictures are actually different.
Picture Manager solves this problem by renaming your taken pictures with a timestamp format that you can select or even define yourself.
You can either start a batch process before you backup your pictures to your HDD, or automatically let Picture Manager rename your files in the background.
Another nice feature Picture Manager offers is that you can let it organize your taken pictures into folders that are named by the year, month and even day.
That will help you to quickly find your pictures again and brings some organization into you pictures.
Requirements
You have to be on at least Android 5.0 Lollipop
How does it work
Picture Manager relies on the EXIF Metadata that is stored into each picture. The EXIF Metadata contains a lot of information, the one Picture Manager needs is the date the picture was taken.
With that information Picture Manager can reliably rename and organize your pictures.
Tasker Plugin
Picture Manager comes with a Tasker Action Plugin. That means that you can start a batch process on different events, like time, when usb gets connected etc.
Premium features
If you want to use the custom format, background service or the Tasker plugin you need to upgrade to the premium version.
To upgrade you can use an in app purchase. Or you paypal me and I mail you a premium code. That way google doesn't get 30% of the income.
Downloads
Picture Manager is available in the playstore:
FAQ
Q: What about videos?
A: Picture Manager can also handle mp4 recorded videos.
Q: What about other manufactures than HTC and Sony?
A: I just know about those two that use an incremented number in their filename. If you know more, let me know. If your files are already timestamped you can still use the organizer to move your files into timestamped folders.
Q: After using the organizer I have sometimes missing files in my gallery?
A: Use the media scanner built in Picture Manager to make those files visible.
Q: Will the background service drain a lot of battery?
A: Picture Manager makes use of Androids JobSheduler, like Google Photos and Amazon Photos instant upload and is very battery friendly. When checking GSAM stats, it is nearly at the very bottom of the list.

still waiting for coloros 12 on x3 pro in uk, wouldnt this feature come with coloros 12
hi. I just installed colorOs12.
I followed your guide to install the omoji app, but I cannot find it in the drawer. it's available only in the app list but I cannot open from there. if I try to go to the Always on display options, I see the emoji option but If I click on it and push the create emoji button it does nothing.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
ok. i installed the 1.0 version and it partially works. lets me create a custom face but no option for shot omoji is available after I create my omoji.
the AOD instead seems working.
Hi, i installed omoji app, but i didn't find any icon in app drawer or in my home screen, when i found out in settings app list, i didn't found "open" button in omoji app. Please help. Thank you.
Which version did you install? Try 1.0.10
The 1.0.10 it's the only one that worked with me but I only have 3 Omoji's available and can't create.
Is this app works in realme7pro with Android 12??
If yes then why not working in my device????
