Dears,
I am new to this so sorry if my question a little dump.
I have a google chrome cast which i wish to change the dafualt app which gets on while you are not streaming anything. the reason is I want to have a specific website to be opened (using chromecast internal browser) instead of the default app automatically everytime streaming is off. my question is what are the things i need to do in order to accomplish this. i know there will be no direct guide. but if you can help me with general steps.

A few questions...
Does the same video play from YouTube on your phone/tablet or a computer?
Are you using any DNS/region relocation services like Unotelly, Unlocator, etc?
Are you using a VPN?

1. Yes i can play it without any error, as normally played on the Youtube app.
2. No, i am not using any such service.
3. No i am not using VPN.
supporting information:
Youtube is officially blocked in my country (Pakistan), thus youtube cannot be accessed using internet browser. But if i use youtube app in my android using wifi i can access youtube and can play all videos. If i do the same over mobile data, its restricted. I can understand that browser or mobile data doesnt support youtube because it has been blocked by our Government but how is it possible i can use it on android app?
Lets assume authorities have left a loop hole here that it can be played using android youtube app but it can not be played using browser, then why chromecast cant play it? does it work on the pattern or structure of a web browser?

Exactly that. Your phone isn't retrieving the YouTube data and passing it to Chromecast.
Chromecast is a separate autonomous client. It's like if you see something on your phone and read the URL to your friend who puts that into their YouTube client. So whatever loophole exists on your phone, Chromecast doesn't have it.
Hi all. LONG time browser. First time poster. Hope you guys can assist. Tried searching and found no results. Kinda surprised it hasn't been brought up before.
So here goes. Is it at all possible to bypass/skip the "cast to device" prompt on an Android device. As I only have one (1) Chromecast device it seems kinda redundant to select it every time I have something to cast. Granted certain apps like Plex, Youtube, Netflix have the option to connect from the get go and bypass the said prompt. I am hoping to achieve this function constantly. More specifically with Google Chrome on Android. As I stream a lot of anime, choosing my Chromecast after every episode seems redundant, especially when I only have one (1) Chromecast in the household.
Can anyone assist? Thanks, GIGA.

I know but it would still be a nice feature if at all possible. Btw I realized I can somewhat simulate the desired effect if I play another video while the current one is still casting (Chrome Android). In this way the connection doesn't break. But if the video stops or completes then I once again have to be prompted "cast to device" to watch another video. Is it possible for someone create an addon/extension/plugin for Chrome Android that adds the option to connect constantly like Netflix, Plex, Youtube etc?

Hi Friends,
Am living in Kuwait where the ChromeCast has not reached officially. I however intend to buy one and would be glad if someone can answer a couple of my questions. I did go to the FAQ page, but the Google Apps page show nothing (probably because it is not available in my region) and the other page which shows the features of the product is down.
a) Can I cast any and everything from my mobile to my TV? I mean, videos, photos & music from my internal storage / SD card direct to TV?
b) How can I install apps on the CC if the google apps page turns up blank because of my region?
c) Can I check out or show my gmail, email, whatsapp & viber messages on the TV?
d) Can the CC also be unrooted? If yes, do I gain any benefits by doing this?
Thanks

I don't know if it will work in your region. Someone else will have to answer that.
A & B. You don't install apps on the CC. You use apps on your phone or computer to connect to the CC.
C. CC does have the ability to screen mirror exactly what is on your phone screen and computer screen.
D. Someone else can answer about rooting it. I know you can, but I think it's only certain numbers.

Thanks my friend
I always was having the misconception that apps were being installed in the CC. So, this really makes sense and I understand therefore there is no need to root the CC.
The Chromecast does load apps, but it loads them on demand over the internet rather than having them permanently installed. As far as I know Google has never restricted the availability of those loadable apps by region - the Chromecast worked in Canada and Europe long before it was officially sold in those regions. Of course an app may still be regionally restricted in the Apple app store or Google Play store for Android, but if you somehow work around that, its companion loadable app on the Chromecast won't be a problem.
However certain apps (like Netflix and Hulu) may impose region restrictions when you try to stream something. Even if you use a VPN on your casting computer/phone/tablet to access the geo-blocked content, the stream will fail to play on the Chromecast because it contacts the server site independently and gets hit with the same geo-blocking.
Alternatively you can use screen mirroring or tab casting from Chrome to relay the video stream to the Chromecast from your casting device, but it requires high performance, and people are still generally disappointed with the video quality.
Hello,
i've searched a lot on the forum and on google, the only thing i've found is a plugin for Tasker called AutoCast... but it doesn't work very well
My question is: does anyone knows if there is a simple way to autoconnect the YouTube app to the first available Chromecast?
I need this for my father, because he wants to view youtube on his 42" HDTV
his smartphone disconnects too frequently from chromecast.
Thanks in advance
I don't believe it's possible. You might have to check tutorials on how to use taker with auto cast, I believe it can do wonders if used right
Hello there,
I want to use my Chromecast to view a Web site, an image or a file (e.g. HTML file) on a screen. Basically, to be informed about an Android app or website Chromecast that he opens it independently and then displays without further interaction.
According to the Google Developer Page developers.google.com/cast/docs/custom_receiver , this should be possible.
Actually this principle is already being used in media libraries or the Youtube app. Are there any specific examples or information about development?
Mfg,
Sissie

Firefox for Android can do that by its own . Also by using screen mirroing all web browsers too
Yeah thats true. But i want to tell the Chromecast with a selfmade website, show me websites from my webserver on the TV and it should refresh on its own.
After that the Computer should be turned off, so that you must configure it only one time.
I only want to now if this is possible and if i need a Chromecast App and a Website.
IIRC Vbukit can display a website. Not sure if it refreshes on its own though.
