Hello!
Do you have any clue what phone we should buy after Nexus 6? I was wondering, but still not decided. I like N6P too, because of Fingerprint reader and (FPS Features) Camera. But thats not a lot for me to replace the phone. I was thinking on Pixel XL... but the price.. OMG.
I really want to stay at Google line, but not sure what to do now.
Please give sime feedback or opinion about this.
Thanks.
OnePlus 4. Wait six months unless you have no current phone. Rumours may well be being stirred up by OnePlus themselves (historical pattern) but if that's the case then they're backing themselves into a corner.
Me, I'm hanging on to my N6 until it dies. I hope by then we'll be talking about the OnePlus 6...
I was Thinking the same! I'm thinking about a Pixel xl or Nexus 6P (just because is ARM 64) so, I'll can install pretty much everything from the Pixel. I'll see anyway.... One of them for sure.
ask yourself if an OP4 or Pixel2 will increase the quality of your life. Probably not. If you already had a meaningful/satisfying life, does this really mean that much?
I have been eyeing the zenfone 3 deluxe 5.7. You can preorder on amazon for 499.00. 64gb with 6gb of ram. Never hear anybody talk about these phones, what gives?

Blows the Pixel XL away in looks IMO.
this thread is for discussion
so google revealed the pixel 2 xl (which is not perfect by any mean )
do you plan as nexus 6 owner to upgrade to it
or there is another option you consider
or you will stick with the good old nexus 6
i want to hear your opinion :laugh:
A feature that I'm looking for is high accuracy GPS:

Maybe some 2018 phones will have that.
And whatever happened to Project Tango?

No plan to upgrade N6 to Pixel.
I've rooted and decrypted my N6 and with that configuration it is a fast and smooth device.
In the meantime I look at and wait for alternatives, like OnePlus 6 in 2018.
The OnePlus 5 would be an option, but the display is only 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I want this and band 71 so I'm waiting. In the meantime I picked up a "budget" smartphone Moto 5Gs plus. Nothing fancy but I need more battery life as this ones bad.

Yep, ordered my XL2 within a few hours of the announcement. Headphone jack, wireless charging, and ugly design aside, it's a worthy upgrade.
I'll use the N6 as an around the house device when browsing and doing other stuff. Even if I wanted to wait another year, the screen cracks make it such that the proximity sensor is inconsistent. When I take the phone away from my face, the screen doesn't always turn on or if I'm trying to dial from speaker phone, the screen sometimes refuses to turn on even when hitting the power button. I'm done with that.
No headphone jack= skip
I'm going to upgrade with overtime money around Christmas time, kind of to treat myself, my main reason is because I'm sick of the software on the S8+ i have and have decided to trade that in and use some of the money for a 6P or a normal pixel XL (if the price is right), to use mainly as a phone for work. I really miss the stereo speakers on the Nexus 6 and the pixel 2 XL is a perfect modern replacement, i don't really mind the bezel on it when compared to the S8+ and i guess apple were right and we will be forced into a wireless future when it comes to headphones at least, so I'd rather pick up that habit sooner rather than later

I was thinking about the OP6 too, but it needs to have a larger screen for me to consider it. Hopefully it will follow the 6" 18:9 route. I like the Pixel 2 XL but it's way too expensive.
Meanwhile, the N6 works perfectly and will hold on for a few more months.
Yep, I did it. Really can't afford it but what the Hell. Never bought a brand new Flagship before. Usually wait at least a year which is the smart thing to do but i can't help myself this time. Looking forward to see how it can possibly be any better than the original pixel which I bought 2 months ago and will trade in.

Same .. first time paying full price for a phone... Bought the nexus 6 for 180 right after the 6p came out... Local craigslist guy wanted to dump for an iphone..had the xl from work through verizon but had to rma.. couldnt unlock bootloader again.. sold and preordered 2 xl.. hope it can best my nexus 6

The headphone jack doesn't matter to me. I use Bluetooth.
No wireless charging is kind of a kick in the nuts, but I can get a receiver coil for that. I like the wireless charging for less wear and tear on the connector, and the convenience of putting it on the stand or popping it onto my iottie car cradle to charge.
@ SynisterWolf, how does it compare to N6? I was also thinking of it as upgrade reasonable option.
Camera, battery, screen are main consideration for the price.
Stereo speakers I do really enjoy but very little number of phones have ones
I'm a cheapskate now that I'm a dad so just last week I picked up a Pixel XL (v1, 2016) for 225 or so. Paid full price on the first "Google Phone", the Nexus 1, been deal hunting ever since. I'm kinda OK with Nexus 6, other than camera. Getting tired of 99% pics I take of my son looking pretty bad. Going to see if girlfriend wants the Nexus 6, she watches alot of videos on her phone (currently my old 2013 Moto X since her iPhone broke) and the N6 is still, I think, the ultimate video watching phone. (Giant 16x9 screen, stereo front speakers, etc)
I pulled the trigger on a P2XL at the end of March, when Google was offering a $200 credit and a free charger with cable for those who financed the device. The N6 I purchased when they were being closed out after the release of the 6P, so this is the first time I ever bought the latest and greatest. The lack of a headphone jack isn't a deal breaker for me, and I personally like the design.
My roommate took the N6 in place of her Moto X Style (2015), simply because the N6 is getting totally functional Android 8.1 ROMs while the Moto X is stuck on Android 7.1.1.
Looked at many reviews on the Google Pixel 2XL and Note 8. I currently have a exynos variant Note 8 and thinking about selling to get the Pixel. Has anybody came from the Pixel 2 Xl to the Note 8 and if so are you happy with your decision?

Don't do it. Couldn't be happier, even with the lack of Roms on my SnapDrag Note 8.
Yes there are roms or more modding for the Pixel series, but at the end of the day, they are all the same Roms with the same tweaks renamed to something else. Don't get me wrong, I do miss my XL 2 at times but whenever I whip out this SPen......yeah, can't top the productivity of the Note 8.

The s-pen is a great addition but i barely use it honestly. The only reason i havent switched is because of the blue tint horror stories of the pixel 2 xl...in your opinion which camera was better overall?

I prefer the Note 8 camera. Mostly because of two things. The draw(right iteration here?) distance for photos is amazing for the Colorado mountains where I live. And also the up close shots are very crisp and clear. I am able to take up close photos of serial numbers for verification emails at work, broken parts where I need to show fine detail and such.
As far as the pen goes, all it takes is finding a reason to use it or just messing around with drawing a bit. I have come to find that my wife really likes my cheesy Live Messages that I draw her, and my daughter stays entertained while we are running errands(rugged phone case). My wife always grabs my phone when we do groceries because of the ease of it, and she's able to make recipes on the fly in Samsung Notes and include clip arts of the photos she just took. Yeah, she uses it more than I do sometimes but I'm not about to drop another $1k on a phone for her.

Appreciate your feedback really helps alot with my decision. For my business i need the best camera and in most reviews i heard the pixel was the best but the Note 8 is a great camera as well. And youre right the productivity of the Note is unmatched. My best bet is to keep the Note 8 and flash a pixel like rom to clean up alot of bloat and speed up the Note a bit. The note has the best looking screen as well and i dont want to lose that beautiful screen.

I used debloat my devices such as this one. But I have come to find that I use the Samsung apps more than the stock Google ones with the exception of Drive or Sheets. Everything else I use works better because of the Pen.
So I currently have an S8 and I'm looking at either the Note 8 or Pixel 2 XL, both appear to be great devices and I'm really torn on which to choose at the moment! The Pixel 2 XL will cost me £10 a month more than the Note with my current provider in the UK, so it's just me deciding which to go for....
I love the S8 and have owned it for 3 months, been running Oreo beta too, which is pretty decent, the only thing is I get lag at times anything from small to large and I'm not sure if it's the BixbyRemap causing it.
Between the two I prefer the Pixel 2XL for:
Slightly smaller, Note 8 looks huge and 1 handed use will be difficult.
Software, although Note 8 has 6Gb RAM I still hear it lags??
Note 8:
Better screen, I love my S8's screen so this is better.
SD card support, 128gb is a lot on the P2XL it's just not expandable
Draw:
Camera, both have great camera's, Note has 2x optical with live focus where the P2XL has portrait mode...
Dam this decision is so hard, any opinions on the above?
Thanks!

Yea i think i will stick w the Note 8 for now unless the pixel XL 2 drops vastly in price.
Screen
Camera
Battery
That's my decision order. Makes keeping the Note very easy

The note 8 is the exact same footprint as the XL 1 with just a half inch more in height. So size difference in negligible IMO.
As for Lag, I have experienced absolutely none. I have been very impressed with touchwiz on the note 8. I only got this phone because of the BOGO deal, i was gonna hold on to my XL for another year but my wife wanted a new phone so I had to capitalize. I wasn't expecting to enjoy a Samsung phone this much. It's a beast that can handle anything thrown at it. It ranks #4 in the highest futuremark test that I ran.
I also am blown away by the speed and quality of the camera. And this screen is absolutely Amazing!
Really the only advantage I think Google has this year is the monthly updates. To me those updates are nice, but not a selling point.

Thanks for your opinions, exactly what I was after!
I think you are spot on the Pixel has the advantage of the updates, however, Samsung Experience is much better than TouchWiz was as Samsung has brought it a lot of features into their software that Google didn't have, it's mainly Google copying Samsung these days I find!
I really like the 2x zoom the Note has, however, the portrait mode seems better on the Pixel, from what I've seen on real-life videos.
Choices, choices!!
I have both and here is my take.
The P2XL is lighter and thinner but just a bit wider and it makes it uncomfortable for me to hold (small hands.) I find the note easier to use one handed. The battery life on the pixel is not that great, it drains quickly and gets warm when using the camera. The camera stinks! I really have no idea why everyone is claiming the camera to be amazing. I get better pics from my P1XL and the note 8. Every shot I take is grainy and lacks sharpness. Yes, stock android is better than the sammy skin but I have experienced no lag on my N8 and I like the fact that it auto adds extensions to call in meetings as I am on the road a ton. I am selling my P2XL and keeping the N8. I find it to be a far superior product.
I've been down this road quite a few times myself and in the end the Note 8 won. The Pixel2 XL has way too many hardware and software issues that I want to gamble with. I returned a total of five 2 XL's for various reasons and one Pixel 2 because the screen had a horrible reddish brown tint to it. The cameras are equal in the 200 + photos I took with the 2 XL and Note 8., they both have their pros and cons. The Note has been running great for me and my son. Battery life is great, the display is the best and the software runs nice and smooth. What else can I really ask for? My biggest complaint is the added length to the Note because it sticks out of my top coat pocket where I like to keep my phone. Other than that I'm thrilled with it. When I start doubting my decision I go here and my doubt is removed.

Thanks for your thoughts!
I've read that about the Pixel 2 being wider making it uncomfortable when holding, which tbh my S8 is great because it's not very wide, so I was thinking that would be the same with the N8 so it's great to hear I was on right track. So even though it's got a bigger battery than the N8 would you say they are on par? My S8 can be great sometimes, however, it also can be crap! :-/
There's so many mixed reviews/opinions about the camera I don't know what to believe, so it's good to hear it's not all roses with the Pixel!
I'm still swaying towards the Note 8!
I feel the battery on the note 8 is a little better. Like I said, I see the battery draining faster on the 2XL. And I would certainly be using the S8 if it had 6gb ram and the dual cameras. The N8 is not easy to use one handed but it's easier than the pixel. I actually prefer the more natural look to the XL2's screen but I know I'm in the minority on that one. The screen does have a nasty blue tint when angled even slightly though. And you can always load up the 2XL camera and use it on the note. I was so excited for the 2XL as I have always been a stock android fan boy but google got it wrong this time, the phone is sub par.

Yes, that's what I'm seeing across the net, too many issues out there for a premium device imo! It's a shame really as the Pixel 2 XL has so much potential! Thanks for the link, that's a great link to share!!

came for the nexus series, to change for the pixel, once they announced the google pixel 2 XL i was so excited, then i sold my Pixel Xl, for the pixel 2 XL, unfortunately in my country was only available the 15th of November, i had to buy a new device to take time....and i purchased the NOTE 8 for a great price, had it for a couple of week, when finally i've got my hands on the Pixel 2 XL... and that i realized...no waterproof, no 3.5 jack, no wireless charge, no DEX, no connection out from the box with my TV, no face unlock, no dual sim,no SD, no ,no, no for what 939.00€!!!!!!!
the feeling was like having an old phone in my hands compared with note 8, finally a send it back after 24h.
For me it is very disappointing because i loved the nexus series and the pixel xl, but i have to admit that, my last Samsung phone was galaxy S2, NOTE 8 seems to be alien technology compared with this year overpriced pixel.
Looking forward for the Pixel 3 though...

Yeah a lot of people don't realize what they lose when they go to the Google Experience. I had to make that very tough decision when we had to switch to Project Fi to save money in a financial crap time. I almost cried when I sold my Note 5!!! Then came Xfinity!??
My pixel 2xl has been great till last month. Camera stopped working and phone slowing down and sometimes unresponsive.
Should I get the Pixel 4 or Pixel 4XL while they are on sale or wait for the Pixel 4a? I've heard so much bad about the Pixel 4s but want to hear from those that actually are using the phone as their daily.
Which would you upgrade to?

For $300 bux off I would go with the 4XL. I don't think the price will ever be lower. I bought two 4XL's at $200 off at the first price drop around Thanksgiving. I have had zero issues with either one. It's entirely a personal opinion, but I think it would be well worth the current $100 delta between the 4 and 4a.

Frontier02, at $300 off the Pixel 4XL it's a no brainer. I am on my second 4XL, the first one in black I got as soon as they launched, gave that to friend and got the white one next. It has been my daily driver just about every day since the fall. I also have an iPhone X max which I use once every blue moon just to see what ios is about (nothing exciting seems to happen) and I have an S20 Plus. I will pop the sim in that phone for a day at a time, it's a nice phone, great screen but the 4XL just fits me better, haptics, face unlock, etc.
You will love the 4XL, no doubt.
I upgraded to the 4xl from the 2xl on Friday. It's not a huge upgrade in speed or battery life in my opinion. Slightly better performace, about the same battery life. The 4xl does feel a lot nicer but that only really matters if you don't use a case. Still getting used to face unlock but it works good. I'm still happy with the purchase considering the $300 off. My choices are limited because I use Google Fi and non Fi phones don't do the network switching. My recommendation is flash the factory image on your 2xl. If it's still slow w/ a broken camera I'd buy the 4xl while it's on sale. I would not recommend the upgrade to someone with a working 2xl.

I would try flashing the factory images but my company requires 2 factor authentication and to set it up you need a camera. So if I do that and the camera is still broken I can't log into to works computer till I get another phone with a camera that works. I would hate to have to waste the IT guys time twice sending the information to this phone again and not work then doing it again for new phone.
Just purchased the Pixel 4xl. Now eagerly waiting for it to get here, lol.
My Pixel 2XL has been working awesome but lately I feel like I have to keep my finger on the print reader longer or touch it several time for it to read. I just performed a factory reset and I think I'll reset all my prints as well, but I'm not happy with the print reader. I'm wondering if I should upgrade to the 4 or wait for 4a. I'd rather keep my 2XL until it dies.
Also, I've been keeping my eye on the Motorola line of phones.... They seem to be coming out with some nice ones

I'd rather keep my 2XL until it dies.
Also, I've been keeping my eye on the Motorola line of phones.... They seem to be coming out with some nice ones

I tried the Moto G Power and returned it within 3 days. The Moto was so slow that it was painful to use. I decided that I wanted to get the Pixel 4 xl from Best Buy at $300 off, but when I arrived at the store they had an open box Pixel 4 xl for $497. The associate let me check it out and it appeared to be brand new so I bought it instead of the new sealed Pixel. Check your local Best Buy for open box phones, you may luck out like I did. The Pixel 4 xl is worth the extra money over the Moto G Power for sure.
I have the 2XL as well and yesterday I ordered the 4XL. Originally I wanted to wait for the 4a, but since the 4 series has launched I have been drooling for the 4XL... Many have negative opinions about the 4s, but I seem to love every bit of it. The look, display, software, camera etc... I expect the DPD driver to turn up today with the phone so I have been sitting in the window since this morning waiting impatiently.... Neighbours probably think something went wrong with me....

I've made the same jump and had my 4 XL for a few days and it's a very nice upgrade without being a massive jump away from what I'm used to, the camera is great the phone is much nicer in the hand can't say to much about battery yet but I'm not disappointed with it
P4 user here. 90 hz is actually amazing. Cannot imagine to go back.
The 4a is a downgrade from the 4 XL, and with the 4 XL being $300 off, it's a no brainer to get the 4 XL now.
Also, don't forget channels such as Craig's List or OfferUp. You can find great deals there. I bought a brand-new 128-GB Pixel 4 XL on OfferUp for $400. Awesome deal. The best deals are from people who got something as a present or won it, because they have no financial stake in it; to them, whatever money they get is 'profit'. In fact, I buy all my electronics on Craig's List or OfferUp, oftentimes brand-new in box and otherwise like-new.
If you can get a good deal on the 4 XL now, I'd get it. It's a great phone providing a great user experience. Awesome camera, 90 Hz refresh is smooth, face unlock is super-fast and accurate (don't miss the 3 XL's fingerprint scanner at all). All around great phone that focuses on usability, not just specs.
As opposed to the Galaxy S10+, which has inferior cameras that overprocess and oversaturate photos and has blurring issues with moving subjects (because it's slow focusing), and with a terrible in-screen fingerprint scanner. Photos taken on my Pixel *always* turn out great, whereas it's hit or miss with the Galaxy S10+. I thought I'd really miss the ultrawide camera on the Galaxy S10+, but I don't, really. The consistently great shots on my Pixel 4 XL more than make up for that. Specs aren't everything---it's the total experience that matters, and in my view Pixel kills it here.
Face unlock on my Pixel 4 XL works flawlessly. It's so fast you sometimes forget it's actually working. It's not until you're out and about with a face mask on that you realize it's actually doing its job because it doesn't recognize you then (understandably, of course).
I haven't had any issues in terms of battery life. Yes, the Pixel 4 XL perhaps doesn't last as long in battery-drain-to-zero contests, but that's not terribly realistic in everyday use. I can easily make it through the day, and I'm always close enough to a charger (in the car, for example) to top up the phone if I have to. The supposed horrible battery life has never been an issue for me.
In short, get the Pixel 4 XL if you can find a good deal on it. You won't regret it!

Can never go back after 90hz
The Pixel 5a looks like it would be a great phone for my needs, but the pixel 6a will be coming out in May (probably) and I don't need a new phone until later in the year. What's your thoughts? Go for the 5a, or wait for the 6a?
my wife has the 5A and loves the battery life, almost 2 days, no issues. and the camera is very nice. This prompted me to try the 6 Pro. And I am very happy. I guess it comes down to features that you desire. once you know what you want, look to see which platform offers you the best bang for your buck. I am using the Pixel Pass and think its an awesome way to purchase aphone with Google. Saved me a few bucks a month since I didnt have to pay the higher cost of the add-ons singularly.
Both phones would be fine for my needs. I'm wondering if the 5a and 6a will be as supported as the reg. 6 or 6pro - as for as XDA help, custom roms, etc.
Any thoughts?

I think just as mich as say, the Pixel 5..
If the 6a isn't to my likeing, which I'm sure it won't, I'l be grabbing the 5a.. My back camera glass is cracked on the 5, it's not really worth the $100-$150 to fix,, considering the 4a/5a prices.. I like to have a backup device incase I ever decide to build a test ROM. I came from Anroid 7 to Android 11. Won't make the mistake of holding off again.
I LOVE my Pixel 5. I know I'll like the 5a. I'm hoping the 6a has everything ironed out, as I really hate Android 12.
I have had the 5a since December. Did the trade in program since Google was offering generous trade in values ar the time. Coming from P3XL it's a nice upgrade. I paid 329.00 after trade in. The Battery life is amazing. I charge it about every 3 days. Camera is good but doesn't seem any better then my P3XL. Phone reception during calls does seem to be improved. Overall very happy with it.
I guess it also depends on what you think of the Pixel 6, and how closely they will resemble each other.
I personally hate the design and think the 5a is a better looking device.
We'll see!
Yes, I do wish that the fingerprint sensor was on the back

Agree, my colleagues sold me 5a for newly 6 and he regret of the design and outlook.
Battery life blows I don't know how people are getting 2-3 days worth. I barely get a day with moderate use. I'm likely getting the OnePlus 10 when it comes out in the US.
