I certainly hope that Samsung is not trying to mask a hardware issue through software tweaks...

Has it been solved on 4G SD g780g version? It's almost impossible to find info on this, it's like nobody bought it.

I have the 4G Snapdragon variant, and I don't seem to have ghost touch issues with my daily usage, but I do only have a slight issue when I use swipe typing. I tend not to use it too often, so it's not too much of a problem for me, but just thought I'd mention it.

coming to note 8?
I do not believe! Officially, you have to buy S9, but after Note8 gets Oreo, it can be done porting the S9 application on Note8.

Is porting the app a relatively simple process? I have flashed my Note 8 to Oreo and I'm curious about porting the app.

No - Its not easy and the AR emoji was made specifically to work on the S9 - it probably will not work on the Note 8 at all...but maybe there is a developer who could work magic. Don't expect to see it for a long time
Must port with cameraS9.apk.I expect Note9.

There is a app that works like ar emoji...
Its really cool app....
And the app name is booble keaboard...you can get this app in playstore
i just finished with a new update of my note 8 with oreo .. but unfortunately it doesn't support ar emoji
So the Note 8 definitely will not get AR emoji? I just got a notice few months ago when I'm not really into the note series I really want the 9 plus I should have waited. The note is too big for me and I like the fingerprint sensor on the nine.

Officially from Samsung, probably not.
Have you held a S9+ yet? It is a tad bit smaller than the Note 8 but not by much, pretty much the same. If you want to swap to a S9+ only because of size, you might be disappointed. S9 would be a noticeable difference but hardware is not the same as S9+

Yes I've held the S9 Plus we originally had the 7 Edge and wanted to upgrade but the 8 plus wasn't enough difference for us to upgrade. And then we saw specs of the note we got it only because it had the dual cameras an the 6 gigs of RAM and was the latest phone out plus Samsung gave us 300 bucks for our 7 edges which is the price we paid for them from Sprint on a two-year contract. But I knew the nine would be out in a few months and I should have waited. But we didn't know that Samsung would still be given $300 out for the 7 Edge so that's another reason we did it that quickly. I'm not really into the note series I have small hands and I never use the pen I don't like where the fingerprint sensor is.
The S9 plus has dual speakers with Dolby Atmos better camera the intelligent scan and of course the AR Emoji which I believe would like to have. Was going to sell my note and get the S9 plus but we just got our phones a few months back and my husband doesn't want me doing that and spending the difference on an S9 Plus so I'm hoping the note get some of the features of the 9. We've only had our notes for like 3 months I paid 650 and got offered 550 but then I'd have to pay 850 for a S9 plus unlocked so it's probably not going to happen

I have seen numerous videos and articles that all seem unanimous in suggesting people not upgrade from the Note 8 to the S9. They actually feel that it’s almost a downgrade because the only thing you are really getting is a better chip and the speakers. The S9+ is different where you aren’t losing items that the Note 8 has other than the S Pen, which in my opinion is a big loss, but you are gaining potentially a camera that’s better in low light. However, again every suggestion I’ve seen was to not upgrade. There was one person who said if you really don’t use the S Pen then maybe. I also wanted to point out what the other individual was trying to point out and that’s the difference in size. It’s S9+ at 158 x 74 x 8.5 mm and the Note 8 at 163 x 75 x 8.6 mm. So the dimensions are almost identical. You may want to hold them both in your hand. One suggestion I have for you is something that happened to me personally. When I had the Note 2 and the Note 3 was coming out, I had a friend who asked me if I was going to upgrade. I said honestly, no. I don’t really draw and really don’t use or need the S Pen. He proceeded to show me just a few things that I was unaware of and then suggested I look at a particular site and YouTube video. I ended up buying the Note 3 and everyone except the Note 5 because it didn’t have the SD card. I was completely unaware of all the capabilities. So before you pass on the Note series as a whole, I would just suggest you really learn all of the capabilities of the S Pen.
The other thing that doesn’t help is Samsung got rid of the old S Note in favor of Samsung Notes which is an inferior app. The original S Note came with Action Memo, Photo Note, Easy Chart, Idea Sketch, Scrapbook, etc. In my opinion it’s probably the best app ever for the S Pen and maybe even the best app period. I was going to say if you’re interested there’s a way to get it installed that I learned from another Thread in this site. However, I just updated my phone to Oreo and it messed up some of it. It looks like we can’t get Easy Chart installed and Photo Note looks to only work in landscape. But this just happened over the weekend, so I’m hoping that someone will figure out a solution. If you do end up with the S9+, I hope you enjoy it!

There is a post here where some guys teach how to enable scrapbook and all features and apps. Also I modded all those apps to work on nougat but I don't try yet on oreo because i don't need it now. You should try it; I'm agree with you, s note had been the best Samsung app with all features.

It seems that on oreo is really not working... to bad.
Thanks everyone! For now I am keeping my Note 8. My husband says we just got these 3 months ago and if I sell my Note and only get 550 I still have to pay the difference for the unlocked s9 plus. I just wish we would of waited but we didn't know Samsung would still be giving $300 for the 7 edge. But I have small hands and I know the 9 plus is big too I like where the fingerprint sensor is. I don't use the pen or know about other Notes and what they had but I do love my Note it's fast and I have no complaints and will be getting Oreo on my unlocked in the next couple weeks. All carriers have it now I read. But yesterday I did play with an S9 that was in this little Best Buy mobile at the mall and I made a gallery of like 18 AR Emojis and sent them to myself than deleted them off the phone so I could see what it looked like. I've seen a 9 plus on display too and yesterday he said here hold an 8 plus same as 9 plus. I wouldn't do a regular 9 cause of hardware but I was also thinking I maybe should just wait for the S10 and maybe it will be 5G ready.
We have Sprint and got unlocked so we could switch to another carrier here soon. But thanks for now I will keep my Note if hubby would of let me I probably would of done it though and got a purple s9 plus but I am not unhappy and I love my Note works great. Just hope battery stays the same or is better once we get Oreo. Cause I always had to charge my 7 edge at work in the lower level with no signal my Note I never have to charge.

Note 9 still worth it?

Hi guys!
I need your help because I can't decide.
At the moment I have my old OnePlus 3 and this year it's time to change.
I can get the Exynos Note 9 for 639€ and the Exynos 10+ for 800€. Should I get one of this or should I wait for the Note 10?
What would you do?
Thank you for your opinions!

If you use SPen and the functions, there is no other device out there to buy. But if you dont use specific SPen feautures, i would recommend you the S10+ because of future Major Updates. Note 9 got Pie so gar, so there will be possible just one Major Update to Android 10 in future. S10+ will get Android 11 i guess.
Anyway my Personal opinion is that the Note 9 is actual one if not THE best device from Samsung. Okay they killed some core feautures with Pie like Wifi WPS and stuff..but Overall it was an good Update i guess.
I'd get note 9 oreo, pie is way to restricted
Photo's[emoji2398] by Sully using SM-N960U or SM-870A
if you don't mind Samsungs new screen design with the cutout, I'd get the s10+. and i guess since you ask between a note and an s-series, that you don't mind about the spen too much. so get the s10+. it's faster and slicker so I've heard in previews.
i personally couldn't get around the cutout tho. and that the new fingerprint sensor under the screen seems to act slower compared to physical ones
those are the two downside I'd say
+ that face unlock is pretty much useless, since you can use a photo to unlock it. but not sure if note 9's face unlock is any better
if you're fine with what i mentioned above you should just get the s10+
Maybe wait for the note 10
if they release the Note10 e IT WILL BE PERFECT

Looking forward to this release.

Looks like this device is packing a punch, especially now snapdragon will finally hit the uk shores. Any ideas why to look at the s20 Ultra over this device?
Is it going up be possible to unlock the bootloader and install chain recovery and ROM in the Snapdragon version of this phone? From a quick look at the S20 section of this forum only the Exynos versions get custom development.

Nope, none. On a value-for-dollar basis, I think this phone trumps the Ultra hands down. In fact, I just cancelled an order for a Note20 Ultra, as I've realized that I don't need, and likely won't ever use, all those premium features that we pay so much for - this phone looks just right for the price to me.
Mine is shipped and I will get it tomorrow!
Not gonna lie, I'm now having second thoughts as a result of the optical fingerprint sensor and camera performance - not deal breakers for sure at this price point, but security and camera performance are top of my list of priorities, so those give me pause.
Got mine a bit ago. To be honest, i can't tell the difference between the S20 FE and the Note 20 I have been using while waiting for it to arrive.
The S20 FE doesn't have the video enhancer setting, which may or may not make a difference. But also I noted in a super quick camera test, that the Note 20 looked better at 3x zoom than the S20 FE did. I would have thought the S20 would have looked better there.

Fingerprint sensor works fine. It's as fast as the sensor on my Huawei P30 Pro and so far hasn't failed to read my fingerprint.

Would you be able to check if the 40W SuperCharger from your P30 Pro works with the S20 FE at 25W?
I'm upgrading from a broken P30 and it would be cool if I didn't have to buy the 25W Samsung charger.
Cheers

It doesn't work unfortunately. Doesn't seem to be charging any faster than the standard charger.

Android 11 update fixed the touchscreen issue (for my S20FE Exynos) & the phone feels faster as well

The one ui 3.0 update is great. 60Hz mode has never felt so fast & the touchscreen issues are gone for me.
A nice gesture from Samsung considering the S20 FE was supposed to get the update in January.
Agree, it was a nice gesture.
But, touch screen issue still NOT resolved for S20 FE 5G ...tested using "Touch Screen Test" app and it is bad as ever!
Have you verified your S20 FE (Exynos) has no ghost touches using the app?
Full instructions in the thread below:

Can't fix faulty hardware with a software update.
For me it's the same as before. Hardware problems can never be resolved completely by software solutions...
Hi, do you have esim option after update?
I agree, still have touchscreen issues on 5G version
I tried the touch screen test a couple of times after getting Android 11. None of the N-shaped patterns anymore. Too early to tell if the unresponsiveness or "skipping" problems are gone though.
I can now say the unresponsive/skipping issue is not fixed for me. It's hard for me to even say it happens less often. Seems to be able to not occur for days, and then it will happen anywhere from 1-3 times per day for 1-3 days and then I don't see it for a while again.
I do not have the January version yet though.

I posted it. And seeing as the last several posts are from people saying they still have issues after the Android 11 update, I would have to agree with you.
As reported on the other thread, the Jan 2021 security update which included the "stability of touch screen has been improved" has 100% fixed the ghost touch issues on my S20 FE 5G (UK). I am now NOT able to reproduce any ghost touches... since 15th Jan 2021. My phone was badly suffering from ghost touch issues which Samsung failed to fix with their first three software improvements... 4th time 100% success!
Also, I've been a Note series user and was thinking that getting the S20 FE was a mistake, but now with no touch screen issues, I can now wait for the Note 21 FE.

I have ordered a Tab S8 Ultra, US version with the Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 . It is supposed to arrive in 9 days. So yea, wanting root is for the Tab S8.
It doesnt have any support yet, or even a forum page as it hasnt even been released. This is the forum for the Tab S8, not the S8 ultra. post this in the S8 ultra forum once it releases.
I figured XDA would lump all the S8 Tablets together like they did with the S7 / S7 Plus.
Got my Tab S8 Ultra today. Used the Tab S7+ directions and I'm fully rooted. Going to use Swift Backup and restore all my apps from my S7+. All good to go. Yay.
Getting my S8 Tab Ultra today (unless FedEx screws me). Good to know we have working root (using the S7+ directions) so soon!

With SamFirm v0.5.0, I was at least able to get the (what SamFirm defaulted to) INU, and also XAR but still didn't find XAA or XAS. Maybe XAR is close enough? I've been out of the Samsung rooting game for ~8 years though, so I only tried what I could find to read about, but hopefully, I'm just missing some piece of information.
I couldn't find anything for SM-X900 in Frija v2.0.22044.1 - with XAA, XAS, XAR, or even INU. Says unable to connect to the server even though SamFirm is working fine.
My Wi-Fi Tab S8 Ultra won't arrive for quite a while, though, so I have time to learn and for others to report back what does and doesn't work.
Ta - See what you mean.
Im worried about putting the X900 boot.img.lz4 on my device incase it wont boot.

I'd be worried too - I recommend holding off unless someone else has some better advice or the firmware shows up. I couldn't find anything for the X906B or even just as X906 with the various U.S. 5G major carrier CSCs, nor XAA, XAS, or XAR. Same with X900 as far as U.S. 5G major carrier CSCs.
Guess what... It booted with the X900 boot.img.lz4 on an X906B ¬_¬
And root is working with no issues to 4G or 5G Cellular...
Although I would advise waiting for official firmware for the model where possible.

If you're planning on using Termux to run Linux / X11 apps on your Tab S8 Ultra (via vnc or similar), you're going to need root due to this issue of Android 12 killing phantom processes https://gist.github.com/agnostic-ap...#how-to-disable-the-phantom-processes-killing
I'm going to hold off until we find a firmware that matches the device, personally, but thank all of you for your research and testing!
EDIT - Guide I used to install kali linux on my Tab S8 Ultra - https://technical-bot.blogspot.com/2021/10/how-to-install-kali-linux-on-android.html Note that I had to replace wget with curl in the .sh files because wget wasn't working correctly.
I found out that notifications for new Android updates won't come when rooted. But what about updates for accessories like the keyboard? I've seen some YouTube videos where they say that for the tab s7, when the new keyboard update came, people were prompted to update after attaching their keyboards.

I would expect Keyboard updates to happen without a problem. Once you are rooted it is up to you to keep your tablet updated ... or not. I usually update a couple of times a year.
