Missing NFC setting on SOV39 running H8416 firmware - Sony Xperia XZ3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I have an SOV39 and I flashed H8416 latest firmware. Everything is working good except that the NFC setting has been missing in the Settings. (It shows label NFC Setting but there is nothing)
Have anyone know how to fix?
I intent to flash H9493 firmware to see if NFC setting is there but I am not sure it will brick my phone or not.
Please help!

You can try a custom rom, the other stock firmware or the sov firmware.
But I think no one knows an answer about this exotic configuration.
The sov xperias are only in Japan.

I wish I could try a custom rom, since mine is not allowed to unlock bootloader
So, as you mentioned that I can try H9493 on my SOV39, right?

I have no clue, but do you have any choice?

Ok thanks for your suggestions. I think I will flash the H9493 fw. Hope it wilk not brick my phone. ?

Good news, it won't brick my phone, bad news, still no NFC setting, even worse, no cellular signal.
?
So just back to SOV39 stock firmware and stick with that.

Or sell it and buy the international version [emoji14]

Haha good idea. But I've just bought it a week ago

A good time to sell it back

install sov39 52.1.c.0.192 rom this work nfc and wirles charge after thas install patch global oem xz3 and instal app hidden setting and change lte after that 4g worck i tested on my phone and worck ith orange in morocco

Asian H8296 updates in Europe

I use the Asian H8296 in Germany with a German provider.
On XperiCheck.Com I see that the firmware update A4 is only for customized hw and tk.
Not for customized DE like the H8266.
Does that mean that I won't get any updates, until I flash a H8266 firmware or use a Hongkong Sim card?
I only see the A4 firmware (8296) for CN on xpericheck. But to answer your question, no you don't need to flash another firmware.
Your phone will get the update whenever it is released for your firmware region, it doesn't matter where in the world you use it. So if your 8296 is on TW firmware, you will get it when Sony releases that one. If you were on CN firmware, your phone would have the A4 update available already.

I had the Honkong Version.
But I flashed now the German H8266 Version via XPeriFIrm and NewFlasher V13.
It deleted my entire phone (not the sdcard), but it was a good decision to get faster updates.
I got A4 and the entire 6GB ram are shown.
The complete OS is German and working perfectly.
Thanks for the info. Hmm, I might do the same then. I had the TW version (had to send it back because the speaker was defective), but the 8266 seems to get updates faster. My only concern was the ram. Does it ever show more than 4GB being used?
Is that the info you need?
PS
Don't install the cn china firmware.
It has no Google apps, but apps with Chinese names.
Nice, it looks good. Thanks! :highfive:
Haha, I had flashed the CN on the one I had too! I reflashed right away when I didn't see any Google apps.

Hi Martin, can you also tell us if, after flashing h8266 firmware, your VoLTE and WiFi Calling are working fine in your area? I am also from EU, and I would like to know this if possible.
Thanks for your feedback!

Since using the German Firmware, I can use VoLTE and Wifi Calling.
Getting a HD Symbol while calling and still having Internet while only in LTE.
The Asian Firmware didn't got the option to activate it.
My provider is O2 (Telefónica).

Thank you for this Martin! I wonder if I need to install Central European or Germany region firmware in order to have fully working VoLTE and WiFi Calling in my country (Romania). Also, I am curious if you actually see the benefits of the extra 2GB of Ram?
Cheers!

I don't know if the Romania firmware is optimized for your mobile network.
My average ram usage is 3.6GB
I assume, that it will consume more ram if you play a 3D game.
I also assume, that future android versions will consume more ram, so my phone is future proof.
I will use it or several years.

Hi, Martin. I also want to flash my Hongkong version as German H8266,
but I cannot find Oreo version yet, I can only find Pie version for German H8266 from Xperiafirm.
I have flashed this version, but it is stalled at accessing google service because I am in mainland China
Thus, I tried the French Oreo version because I found that at Xpericheck.com
For the Oreo, I can get into the system, but OTA to Pie is failed at the end of Stage 1 installation.
Do you know the reason, or could you share me the flashing image for German H8266 Oreo which can get OTA correctly?
Thank you very much.

You could flash the PIE version directly.
I don't know why the french firmware would refuse OTA.
Maybe it's your great firewall in china?
Only restricted google services are allowed in your country.

Thanks. In fact, I have flashed German Pie already, but the phone is stopped at first boot, because I cannot access Google directly. Even I choose skip, it still prompts that it cannot login into Google services. Thus, I have no idea, then I find French version still have Oreo firmware.

I got the same phone 2 days ago and flashed it with UK Customized firmware. It's working fine, battery timing is also good but NFC won't work as Japanese SO-02G is different from D5803 made for rest of the world. I'm sorry I won't be able to help you with flashing but just remember one advice, be careful with flashing one wrong step could brick your device as it happened to me but I managed to recover And try to find the latest 6.0 Marshmallow version for D5803 model

well global firmware(if there is such a thing) would be more towards the n960f since it is more popular and also the same same chipset as ure phone. its sold in UK, greater asia, india, Oceania etc...)
the n9600 is a snapdragon chip. and only sold in china and south America.
but regardless you cant flash stock firmware on different model devices. its a known fact.
if you root then u can flash custom n960f roms no problem on the n960n.(i have it too and been flashing all sorts of custom roms made for the F variant)

u cannot flash any other stock firmware than n960n with odin.
if you want to flash a custom rom.zip , you need to install twrp recovery and root. this will void warranty and also trip knox and some services will no longer work:
samsung pay
might be others.
please read the guides and discussion forums for more information on rooting.

what do you think, because I am a beginner I better use the current stock ROM (N960N) or have to replace another ROM? actually I just don't like Korean accents and Korean network operator logos when I turn it on or trun off my device because I'm already outside Korea. then what is the ROM recommendation for me?

As a beginner the best and most important thing you need to do is research and read up on these topics.
Head over to the development forum and see what each rom offers and choose the one which sounds most suitable for you.
None of us can answer whats best for you dude only you know that.
The nice thing is you can flash and try out as many roms as you want!

I too want to flash the Spanish stock ROM, so as to get rid of d the bloatware and also to use Samsung Pay. A friend of mine told me to buy the Korean version and then flash the Spanish stock ROM, which he did with his note 8 and didn't trigger Knox. I'm getting the Secure Check Fail: Bootloader error when trying to flash with Odin, it's stuck at SYSTEM flashing. Don't know what to do anymore, tried rebooting everything, changing USB ports, running Odin as an admin, and flashing different versions of Android.
Can anyone help?

I know for a fact that the Korean variant of the Note 9 and the international variant both run on the exact same hardware. With the only differences being in the bloatware included with the Korean variant. So theoretically speaking installing the Spanish N960F/D variant's OS onto the N960N should work perfectly without any issues

it work only if you flash a custom ROM, even thought they are the same but you cannot flash a F/D firmware with odin in N model, it mos be a bootloader thing or something else.
by the way the n9600 is a snapdragon model so that is even more impossible.

VoLTE, VoWIFI, 5G - carrier settings by Sony

Hi all,
Support of Sony doesn't have any idea, how it works....:
I bought a EU-device and use it in Switzerland. Unfortunately, they didn't integrate the Swiss carrier settings. Due to this, I don't have VoLTE, VoWifi (Wifi calling) and 5G.
I contacted Sony by phone and they told me that the device seems to have defect, that's why it doesn't work. So I wrote an e-mail to Sony support and they answered that the hardware is only capable to have these functions for the countries it is build for. My reply was that this is an EU-Version, so the hardware isn't the problem, they just need to add the carrier settings and if they know, when they will add them. Answer of the support: No, it is the hardware.
It is really frustrating with Sony. They have build such a nice device, but with this support, they shoulnd't be suprised about falling sales.
I was thinking of open the bootloader with Magisk and try to add the settings by myself. But first, I have never done this and I am not sure yet, what I have to do exaclty (step by step). Second, I loose the guarantee. And third, I am not sure if banking apps still work afterwards.
I really love this device, but I am a little frustrated about Sony.
If you have an idea, how I can solve this problem, you would make me happy
Flash firmware with Volte support, that's all.
Envoyé de mon XQ-AT51 en utilisant Tapatalk
I tried this already (several different localizations), bitit didnt help. The problem is, that Swiss providers didn't integrate their settings into Googles carrier services, but into another database for manufacturers. Unfortunately, Sony didn't do that on the Xperia 1 ii (even if they did it on past Xperias).
But I am most frustrated, that their customer care blame it on the hardware, but it's a software problem. Even after explaining, they don't wanna check it with a specialist. So trumping something, which isn't true.
Maybe you should contact your provider. Unlocking bootloader won't help.
Envoyé de mon XQ-AT51 en utilisant Tapatalk
According to Swisscom, everything is ready and the system is waiting for the device to register in IMS. But as the mobil doesn't have the carrier datas, it probably can't do it.
So I am back at the point, where the mobile needs the settings implemented for Swisscom...
We need to wait for flash firmware with Volte support, that's all.
For now FlashTool is not supporting our device.
Later just flash US frimware you will loose double sim but you will get VoLTE and WiFi calling. I did that on Xperia 1. It was easy and satisfy choice
I have an XQ-AT51 and also tried the UK-version, which support VoLTE/VoWifi. But as mentioned, the carrier settings of Swiss providers are missing.
I really don't know if it can help, but, have you already tried this way? here
The mentioned switch in this post is greyed out on my phone and my phone is also not IMS-registered (even my provider is offering it - I have also a second SIM for the same number with an Xperia 10 Plus with VoLTE and VoWifi). So I am pretty sure, it is only about integrating providers/carriers settings. But as Sonys customer care doesn't care about it (only this sentence shows that something is wrong there) and they don't want to check it internally with an xpert on VoLTE/VoWifi, it is frustrating.
Hey PlatinCH, any news? Did you manage to get VoLTE/VoWifi working?
That's the only thing holding me back from buying it
Yes it is quite confusing for sony, i used to flash xz premium and xperia 1 with SEA firmware on my HK device and both able to use VOLTE and VOWIFI in Thailand. So i just wait for SEA firmware to release for Xperia 1 II and i flash it over to my Xperia 1 II (HK) last night. This is quite problem the volte button is there but not work, as well noticed that IMS is not registered although it trigger on but greyed out. I think pproblem is with Sony.
Anyhow i recommend to use New Flasher now as it support Xperia 1 II, and i am contributor to the dev since Xz Premium day so the dev is very updated and quick respond and it is simple and easy to use.
Question for the OP. Have a checked the modem config files to see if your carrier is listed in there? Also have you checked to see what modem config file your phone is currently using? Just type in *#*#service#*#* and go to service info, then choose software info. Your modem config will be listed at the bottom.
Quite sure it's listed there,
This phone will always select ROW Commercial config.
Don't know if this a bug or a feature from Sony
has anyone found a solutuion for wifi calling?

Not sure what you variant is (japan?)
I have a xqat52 HK international dual Sim.
And successfully flashed xq-at51 UK on it.
Before flashing UK rom I could not access 5G in UK.
However you need to know I had many issues after with Google and play store device not certified.
Since it was altered, still official rom, but once you flash anything different to your original rom, you will have issues.
Be prepared to Google loads, and find out it is worth it for you.
You will need to read about possibly rooting it, so you can enjoy your device in the region you want with the features you want.
Remember unlocking bootloader, you will loose your drm. I was not too bothered about it.

I converted my 1ii from HK to UK successfully.
With the latest build
58.1.A.5.507
Using flasher
It is possible, but read carefully everything and do your research 1st. You will need some knowledge on using adb / flasher / fastboot / android Kitchen / Magisk / etc..
Unlock your bootloader too. (if you want root and not have Google issues after)
You need to check if your handset can have the bootloader unlocked, as from what I read not all handsets have this option enabled...
There is a Sony webpage (Google) that tells you whether you can do that or not....
Make sure you understand the risks and have the knowledge to do it all, as bootloops looks like a norm on forums after flashing....

Remember unlocking bootloader, you will loose your drm. I was not too bothered about it.
