I Failed Flashing ROM with FlashTool - Sony Xperia XZ2 Questions & Answers

Hi all i tried to flash my XZ2 with flashtool and i downloaded the latest ROM from Xperifirm. I created FTF file from the ROM i downloaded by unchecking .TA files. I have unlocked bootloader with cmd (which means all the drivers must be installed properly). But it didnt show neither errors nor succeeding in flashing the ROM. When i exited flash boot mode, my phone still can be turned on normally.
In before, i softbricked my phone but managed to reflash it with EMMA, but not satisfied because it's android 8. Anyone please help me, what steps i missed here? Im super noob in this kind of stuff, so please explain it easily for me. Thank u!

I have solved the problem. So i need to install the driver from C:\Flashtool\drivers, ticked the flash boot and fast boot, include .TA files in the FTF file, and not plugging my phone in USB 3.0 slot. Hope this would be useful for anyone having the same problem as mine.

flashtool problem xperia t

hello
Few minutes ago ive been trying to install new FW for xperia t suddenly flashtool says that i dont have drivers for my phone. So ive installed drivers for flashmode, fastboot and xperia t /tx from flashtool folder. however problem still exists. does anyone have solution for it.
thanks in advance
oh damn, not a single word about your running OS
let me guess? win8, 8.1? if you have linux/ubuntu based available, i would suggest you to use flashtool, fastboot, adb on linux. if you only have win8/8.1. then you should search our xperia T forums, there are several posts about problems. there are problems with driver certification or other stuff like that since win8. if i remember right somehow i got all working on win8, but since i have win8.1, i switched to linux for android stuff^^
if i find the way i got it working on win8, then i edit my post.
best for the average pc user would be to use win7. my opinion.
Oh sorry i forgot about OS. So im running on Win XP SP 3.

Try a older version of Flash Tool, see if that helps. Also close any running processes you don't need before you install Flash Tool.
can someone provide link for older ver of flashtool. and about processes running in background i have only those needed by windows

i have installed them already. ive tried with several usb cables and nothing.
I've had some issues with the .14 version of Flashtool that you seem to be using
I wasn't able to flash anything.
Worked like a charm though when using my brothers laptop, that is running an older version of Flashtool
So maybe using you should try an older version of it
problem solved.
ive used flashtool 0.9.9.0 however problem seems to be with busybox as ive installed it again and now is flashing without problems

[Q] Remove RETAIL widget "Touch here for more"

Hi,
I have been given (by a friend who works for Sony) an Xperia Z1 ... but it's a demo phone (says DEMO on the box) and was wondering how I can get rid of the "Touch here for details on Xperia Z1" button at the top of the screen ... I understand how to get rid of the 'Charging video' but it's the RETAIL widget that I need to remove ... I cannot delete it under Widgets ...
My friend asked Sony about this and they said it cannot be removed as they 'flashed' it, presumably with the Retail stuff on it? ...
I've tried using Flash Tool (Androxyde Flashtool Version 0.9.16.1 built on 06-16-2014 23:00:00) to flash:
FW release : 14.1.G.2.257. Customization : GLOBAL-LTE (1277-1398)
but it halts on an error:

Probably not the right Firmware :silly: ... I'm completly lost on Sony stuff ... ok on Sammys and iPhones ...
Current Phone Details:
Model: C6903
Android Version: 4.2.2
Build Number: 14.1.G.2.257
1. Would a re-flash of Stock Firmware kill it? or what other ways can I proceed? ... what ROM would that be? ...
2. Does it need to be unlocked (BLU) or 'Rooted' to do any Firmware flashing?
cheers,
Gem
No it does not need to be rooted to flash firmware files, also try a more recent ftf file, and please post questions in the Q&A section
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Also, have you tried long pressing on the widget and dragging it to the bin?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Sorry for posting in wrong section and thanks for moving it ...
You mean the long press and drag to bin? (like the normal way of deleting widgets?) ... no that didn't work ... well it deleted the widget it but came back again after reboot (power on/off) ...
Could you please tell me what recent version (or the proper filename) I should be looking for to reflash the firmware? ... I don't care if it's the same version, just a version that doesn't have the RETAIL widget in it ... there's a ton of FW files out there for the Z1 and that makes it frustrating to find the correct one ...
cheers,
Gem
Go for one for your model variant (C6902-C6903 etc) and then choose the one with the highest FW version.
It does not matter where it is from or if it is branded
Once you have flashed it follow my signature to root it
Still not flashing ...
Ok thanks ... found this one on Storage Cow ...

Please restart flashtool, then attach the phone turned on, then try to attach it again in flashmode and please post the output here.
Make sure you have run drivers.exe from C:\Flashtool\drivers and chosed flashmode, fastboot and Z1 drivers.
Also, look in the mega collection thread in the general section for a whole list of FTF files to try
Yes had ticked the 3 boxes for the drivers flashmode, fastboot and Z1 drivers ...
Ok ... this time (as you requested) I did not hold the Vol Down button and connect the USB cable ... I just connected it when Flash Tool started ... clicked Flash Device -> Flashmode and then selected the FW (C6903 14.4.A.0.108 - from storage cow) from the list and clicked Flash ... and I get exactly the same log as I posted above ...
Here's a kicker ... I also get that exact same log if I start to flash but without the phone connected to the PC ... so until I get Flashtool to work properly I can't try any other ROMs ...
BTW: PC Companion see's the phone fine ... and seems to work ok ... and it's not running while I'm using Flashtool ... also the phone is in Developer Mode ...

Ok here's the log ...
Started up FlashTool
Connected Phone in Normal Mode ... no change to log
Clicked Flash Device -> Flashmode -> Selected the Rom to flash (default boxes are ticked) -> Clicked Flash button[/I]
Didn't have time to connect the phone because the log carried on and finished (as it is below) before I was able to conect the phone ... therefore phone was not connected ... I tried connecting after that but nothing happened ... no log change ...

So could it be the FW (C6903_14.4.A.0.108_1276-7939_R3C Generic MY.ftf) ? because it's erroring out as it checks it ... then decides it's wrong or faulty then bombs out? ...

Please do what I have said.
Do not select any file to flash
attach the phone with it turned on (Ensure USB debugging is on)
Then turn the phone off and attach it in flash mode
EDIT
OK, you can always try another FTF file from the mega collection thread
Ok gonna try this one from the Mega Collection ... C6903 14.1.G.1.518 Generic UK 1276-0875_R8A ...
Q:
The current FW I have in the phone is a Commercial/Journalist FW (build number 14.1.g.2.257) ... do I have to keep to Commercial/Journalist FW but then use a different version number? ... or can I use ANY of the 'UK' C6903 FW files? ...
I'll go through a few FWs and see if they kick in ...
Thanks for your help ...
cheers,
Gem
Don't use that one, flash one of the latest versions

No latest has the highest version number
14.4......
is higher than
14.1
also
14.4.B....
will be higher than
14.4.A....
Same as numbers except the columns are separated by "." and letters are allowed
Ok cheers ... this one near the bottom then ... C6903 14.3.A.0.757 Generic UK 1276-0875 ... that's the last UK one listed in the Generic list ...

Cannot find the UK versions of those in Mega thread or on Storage Cow ... but if I end up grabbing another country FW it'll be in their language won't it and not English?... what about the C6903 14.4.A.0.108 Generic Central Europe 1 1276-4318? ... lost aint the word ...
I tried flashing with the previous FW I posted before and I still cannot get that poxy FlashTool to stop and wait for the phone ... it just bombs out without me able to connect the phone ... done a re-installation ... nowt ...
I'm gonna end up lobbing this brand new phone in the bin soon ...
cheers,

Make sure the phone is not connected to the pc, press the flash icon, choose the ftf file and wait until the phone prompts you.
Make sure you have no other adb (android) programs running such as blue stacks etc.
It makes no difference if you flash a ftf from another region (as I have already said) I am using the German one now...
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
That's exactly what I have been doing and as described in my previous posts ... I get that bit ...
I don't want to root the phone ... I don't want to do anything else apart from just flash a ROM ... any ROM (which will work on this phone) so that I can just get rid of the Sony installed Retail Widget that produces a button on the home screen that says Touch here for details on Xperia Z1 ... that's it ...
I have no other Android stuff installed on my PC ... but now I'm seeing the problem is with FlashTool not responding properly and preventing me from flashing anything ...
I have also noticed (after plenty of un-installs and re-installs) that the issue could be the SEMC driver ... the PC freezes when it starts to install SEMC driver AFTER the PC has popped up the window saying connect the USB ready for Flashmode (USB + Vol down) ... also, the PC freezes (everytime) when I try and fix it by updating the driver (in Device Manager) because it didn't install properly ... or when I try to uninstall the SEMC driver, from Device Manager ... I have to hard reset the PC everytime the SEMC driver doesn't play ball ... this is the pain in the ass I'm getting ... it's frustrating the hell out of me ...
So maybe I need to start a new thread concerning my FlashTool/SEMC issue? ...
Thanks for the info on usage of 'use any ROM' ...
cheers,

Driver Issue Flash Mode

Hey everyone,
Have a bit of a major problem with my Xperia SP right now and I am hoping someone can help. I originally was on Windows 8.1 and had some major issues with the system, among one of these when I tried to install Flashtool drivers from the included file, I had to go through all the resetting and reinstalling to get driver enforcement off however when the drivers installed I connected my device and it was fine.
Then I tried to put the phone in Flash Mode and everything was going downhill, basically I connected my phone as I had done a thousand times previously on windows 7 and the phone would go green for about 3 seconds then red light and go into charging mode. If this was done when requested from flashtool it would detect it was connected but I get an error with loader.sin as below....

02/049/2014 03:49:50 - INFO - You can now unplug and restart your phone
Now in normal circumstances this means your bootloader cannot be unlocked right? However my bootloader is unlocked.... and confirmed by service menu and also I have been using unlocked bootloader ROM's....
So anyway I eventually had enough of Windows 8 and went back to Windows 7 (separate partitions are a beautiful thing ) and tried again.... same process same result. The best bit is on both systems I cannot forcefully uninstall any phone drivers because i just get an endless loop of failures unless I do it before connecting the phone once to the computer. The way the phone reacts in flashtool is as if the phone is permentantly in Flash Mode however its not and still stays the same way until I reboot my computer.
I have tried factory resetting the phone, I have tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling but nothing is working. I even tried a different cable just in case and nothing. This only affects flash mode or the entire phone once flash mode has been activated once and then it affects the entire system and wont allow me to restart normally without pressing the reset button on my case even if the phone isn't connected and I also cannot do anything with the drivers anymore at this point.
I am actually trying to relock my bootloader and go back to stock as I will be selling the phone later this week. I flashed a cut down stock ROM from XDA using recovery but now its flashed I no longer have recovery either since it was stock and I have no root privileges now xD
Ideally what I am aiming for is to relock bootloader through flashmode, then use sony tool to reinstall full official firmware. This issue also happens with Sony tool by the way.
Any Suggestions greatly appreciated!!!!

Would you like to use a Linux version of Flashtool? I will guide you from the very Live USB booting, UDEV implementation, and lastly the flashing process
Though please note I am quite busy, so my replies will be quite slow.

Download and run the Xperia SP driver installer to check if you have the driver installed. Here's the link.

I recently rooted and flashed my compact. I also have Windows 8.1, and for the life of me, I couldn't get my files to flash using Windows 8.1. As soon as I switched to a different laptop using Windows 7, I had absolutely no problems.

Yeah, even after I disabled digital signature, I still couldn't get Flashtool to work properly on Windows 8.1.
I was still forced to use Windows 7.
Best of luck.
I'm facing "similar" issue while flashing latest stock Lollipop firmware for India.
I've reported an issue on Flashool github repo.

Xperia SP Bricked?- won't turn on at all

Hi All,
My Sony Xperia SP was slow, so decided to root it using KingoROOT, which worked fine. Then I followed various tutorials from different sources to try and get CyanogenMod installed.
I followed every step, wiped the phone's original Operating System, and put the CM11 Huashan zip file in the SD card, but now it won't turn on at all. I have tried unsuccessfully various times this week, and have almost given up.
When I power on, I get a brief green light, then nothing. Not even the Sony logo- just blank screen.
I’m a newbie so don't know what happened exactly- maybe I didn't unlock Bootloader?
I'm not sure what went wrong, so links to the tutorials I used are below, (give you an idea of what might have happened):
I followed a YouTube video called Tutorial How to install CyanogenMod 11 M/Nightly build on Xperia SP, and various other tutorials, but except my phone didn't start
Anyone that can fix this is a genius, because I've tried so many times...
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
