Help! Please create a proper rooting guide. - ASUS ROG Phone 3 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone! I am new to rooting and stuff, so can anyone please create a proper rooting guide for Asus ROG phone 3. Thanks in advance.

https://www.ytechb.com/how-to-root-asus-rog-phone-3-and-unlock-bootloader/
Remember to plug the usb cable in the side port.

Bumping up an old thread as I got my ROG3 yesterday and was able to unlock the bootloader today. Would like to know whether there's an updated rooting guide with TWRP and Magisk (for an Android 11 device). Failed to find a proper rooting guide and any help is welcome as I am bit scared of botching it somewhere.

Haven't seen one but rooting the ROG 3 is fairly straight forward, no unusual steps involved beyond a standard root procedure. Unlock bootloader Extract the boot.img of your rom. Patch it with Magisk. Flash it to the device boot. Install the Magisk Manager app. Done. TWRP is of course recommended but optional for rooting.

Nexus 6 - Running 5.1.1 able to be unlocked?

Hi All,
I have just within the last few days received a brand new Nexus 6, did all updates and it is running 5.1.1. I have found multiple guides online in regards to rooting 5.0, but none of them have any reference to 5.1.1 (I assume because it is still fairly new). I would just like to make sure that the guides for 5.0 are still appropriate for 5.1.1 before I go ahead with the root, and will not brick my phone. (Would post link for the guide I was going to follow, but I have less than 10 posts)
If anyone could verify this for me, that would be awesome! As well, if anyone has any newer guide or anything else that I should know as I am starting from scratch with a new device, that would be great as well!
Thanks!

its all the same, for any nexus. 1. unlock the bootloader via fastboot. 2. flash twrp recovery via fastboot. 3. flash the latest supersu in your new recovery. 4. reboot, with your bootloader unlocked and with root.
Yes, the method to unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery, and root has not changed. I'd suggest this > http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/how-to-nexus-6-one-beginners-guide-t2948481
Thanks! Just wanted to make sure!

Help Rookie - Which Nexus 6 Root Method is Best?

Hello,
So I am still newer to the Android / Modding world (Had my Nexus 6 for about 3 weeks now, first Android phone). The extent of my experience is manual flashing 6.0 to my Nexus 6 and Nexus Player and flashing custom recoveries and boot images. I am a bit confused right now. I seen a post in the XDA News that you can now root 6.0 without modifying /system. I thought that was already the case when rooting the Nexus 6? All you had to do is flash TWRP, flash the modified boot image, and install SuperSU through TWRP. There appears to be two different root methods now. Could someone please clarify what the difference is and which I should go with? Here is the link to the XDA Post from Chainfire on the rooting methods.

Thank you in advance.
1. unlock your bootloader with fastboot oem unlock
2. fastboot flash twrp recovery
3. flash any marshmallow custom kernel(if on marshmallow) and the latest supersu in your new twrp recovery
4. reboot with root

Thank you for the info but I do know this. I have done this already. I am trying to understand how doing this modifies the system. How does this method differ from the newer method that has been posted? I am trying to learn all I can about Android, Root, etc. I have learned so much already in a very short time. I would like someone to explain the differences in / in the outcome of these two methods. I don't want to be a noob forever here. lol. Thank You.

There is no difference in the outcome. Root merely lets one modify files (root files) that you could not before. It does not put anything else on your device.

there is no other way to root a nexus.
whichever method you choose to root a nexus with, even a root toolkit, they all do it the exact same way.
/system is always modified by root. You need the su binary and scripts to call it in /system. You have to add these files to get root access and adding files counts as a modification. You cannot root any phone without this.

Rooting Pie

Hi
I will have my N960F/DS in a couple of weeks. I prefer not to root it for at least a couple of months in case of any warranty issues. However, by then it should have upgraded to Pie. Does anyone know whether the current root methods will work under Pie? Do they work under the current beta?
If your phone has an unlocked bootloader, pie won't change that. You're probably thinking about the exploit days that new updates patched.
So yes, it will be rooted as soon as the devs build twrp.
Great! Thanks!
Similar problem
I have a brand new N960FD and im have the "only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed" because i installed twrp and tried to do so with no-verity-encrypt and RMM state bypass. but now im stuck and i don't know what to do to root my new phone... (with magisk, which didn't work as well....)
I just want pie with root and no trouble.
Anyone can help me ?

read carefully Dr.ketans post in the general discussion. its pinned.
nothing anyone can do for you that you can't do by yourself by reading. i would also suggest you to read throught Docs whole pinned thread(user comments) and then do the same thing with the twrp thread in the dev section.
all issues and questions have come up sooner or later. you just need to want to take time and read.
down the line, you'll have also more questions and these answers would probably answer themselves after those 2 reads.( might be a lengthy read but sure beats having a phone that is not operating like you want it to)
Samsung account problem
I have the same model, n960fd, rooted with magisk tests checked, everything is fine, but when i want to connect to a samsung account, it loops and ask me again for the password, non stop.
Is there any known solution ?
Please help

Magisk not able to repack

Hi guys
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place.
I've searched many Google suggestions for this but either I couldn't understand the coding there or it was not helping with my issue
I'm trying to patch boot.img with magisk in order to flash the patched official Galaxy S8 boot.img
I do as instructed in the magisk's tutorials page but at the end I get this error:
Unable to repack boot image!
Installation failed!
Could somebody please help on this one?

Thanks for your response
I'm new to the android world and specially rooting, so ...
Could you please tell me how this process is done?
I'm frustrated of searching the net and ending up with solutions that need root.
My intention is to root my device without tweaking stock recovery and without installing TWRP. I've read that Magisk is capable of this, so is there any way to do this?

Just use Google my friend and search: how to root galaxy s8 pie
Some wrong information flying around in this thread...
You do not need to be previously rooted when patching a boot image with the Magisk Manager. Following the official documentation is the way to go: https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk
If things aren't working as expected, first thing to check is your device's forum here on XDA for advice. Someone else might have figured it out or have more insight.

Question Im looking for a good guide to ROOT my RN10P!!!

Hello! Like the title said im looking for a guide to ROOT my Redmi NOTE 10 PRO and also i need to know witch custom recovery i can install ty!!!
Best to post a Hadware Info HW screenshot of your device just to be safe. From my experience, not all sweets are the same...
Fisrt step of all to begin the journey, you should unlock ur bootloader.
Next, install custom recovery (i recommend orange fox for daily use, bit you cannpick another recovery abailable like TWRP or Pitch Black recovery
After all, just install magisk (latest is 26.1) and never forget to use safety net fix for fixes CTS

Yes
But please read before in this forum more about flashing, because there's a risk to brick if you're doing wrong.
So better to get more knowledge first.

I just need to find a good guide...its weird i cannot find any guide for the RN10P...
Here's one guide posted a while back:
[GUIDE] Beginner's guide on how to root Redmi Note 10 Pro (sweet) without TWRP
I decided to make this guide since I didn't see a guide thread which explains how to root the phone. DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for ANY damage that occurs to the phone, you getting fired because the alarm app failed or the world getting...
forum.xda-developers.com
Now, while that guide is still relevant today since Magisk has not changed a lot, there are new, simpler methods out there, such as KernelSU type of root, which can be the easiest or hardest method (depending on if you have patience) of rooting. I could probably make a guide for the compiling kernel with KernelSU integrated, but even then, it's not guaranteed to work. Heck, even I struggle to replicate my own steps.

Im already read this guide and sucks alot...the baddest guide i ever seen...
All the important steps are just skipped and is stuffed in the requirements. And just shows simple screenshots that even a child would know where to click and no external links to find the sources....
