Use one-handed mode and activate it with gestures - ASUS ROG Phone 3 Questions & Answers

Does anyone know if it can be done? Or do you need to have the buttons on the screen?

[Q] How to enable Soft Keys / On-screen Nav Bar?

I'm using a custom Sense 5 rom, and was wondering how do you enable it. I already tried the build.prop trick, but it didn't work. Anything i'm missing? Yes I know there's the capacitive buttons, but there's already a on-screen menu button. Might as well turn it into the whole nav button. And yes, I know I can disable the on-screen menu button, but I like to SEE if there's a menu button in the app. Plus i'm coming from a GNex, so i'm used to the nav bar.
Anyone?
I want softkeys as well, but my experience is that it doesn't work with other than cm/aosp roms. Anyone that knows why or a workaround?

Anyone know of a way to disable hardware keys in portrait mode?

Whenever in portrait mode the thin bezel means you risk touching the back key. This is bloody annoying.
I'm wondering if it is possible to disable (or temporarily remap to null) the hardware keys. I know by tinkering with system files in a root browser they can be disabled on boot, but surely it is possible (with xposed?) to do this on the fly.
I'm thinking a tasker task to disable the keys on specific apps etc.
Can anyone give any advice?
I posted on the wanam thread in xposed to try and get him to add it, but no one replied. Surely it's not only me who would find this useful?
Just rotate 180 degrees, grab the camera side, then touch buttons are on the opposite side.
What if I have two hands?
@pingtiao
Use Xposed framework and Gravitybox to disable the softkeys and use pie controls.
Thanks @jball
I tried that but it didn't seem possible to do this for just one orientation or app. Is it possible? Can it be accessed via tasker?
Thanks firm your help guys. For anyone who wants to know: expanded desktop in GB gives option to disable hardware keys. Tasker can toggle the expanded desktop using send intent " ------ action: gravitybox.intent.action.TOGGLE_EXPANDED_DESKTOP"
SOLVED!

[Q] Can you disable the capacitive buttons?

Does the Droid Turbo has some kind of options to disable the capacitive buttons and enable the on screen navbar instead? Like the OnePlus One let's you do from the settings without rooting?
If not, would any of you know if the capacitive buttons are temporarily disabled while in Immersive Mode? (example, watching videos on youtube)

It does not have the option to disable the capacitive buttons and enable a navbar, nor does it disable the buttons while in immersive mode.

The app Lux (paid version) will do what you want! I use it to turn off the capacitive buttoms when watching movies or just don't want to be distracted by the buttons (I already know where they are!). Great app. Worth every penny! Should be part of any phone that uses capacitive buttons.

How to toggle navigation keys via Bixby Button

So i have been using my phone in Immersive mode, love having the extra space and no black borders.
But i find swiping up to activate the navigation keys abit touchy sometimes, More so when browsing the web or reddit and i end up scrolling back to the top just to activate the nav keys.
Does anyone know a way to Re-Map the Bixby button to toggle the display of the Nav keys?
You could try BXActions from the play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.bxactions . This may allow it or you can assign the button to a Tasker task.

Yes,
i agree with rob_h (above post) re bxActions.
See screenshots.
Unfortunately you must have the premium version (paid) of bxActions.
I use it and works fine. No issues.
You can either set it to toggle per app or otherwise.
No root required, only a simple ADB command on a pc.
Good luck

Gestures in landscape mode

I've turned off the navigation bar and enabled the stock gestures, as well as the One Hand Operation+ gestures. However, when I'm in landscape mode and playing a movie or a YouTube video, I can't get any of them to work. I pretty much have to exit playback through the menu or something like that to get back to portrait mode. Am I missing something, or is that just how it is?
If they're the stock gestures then they will always be located where the buttons would have been

That's what I thought, but I couldn't get them to work at all in landscape mode. I also thought One Hand Gestures+ would work if I enabled landscape mode, but couldn't get any gestures of any kind to trigger from any edge when I was in YouTube or Prime Video.
