I have a Sprint V40 crossflashed with an unlocked V40 kdz, version V405UA20e. I thought OTA was supposed to work with this, but it looks like there have been several security patches since this one dated January 1, 2020. Was I mistaken in that assumption?
I think that if I flash the latest security patch release with LGUP it'll wipe the phone, so I'd like to at least wait for Android 10 before doing that unless there's a way to preserve my settings or somehow fix OTA. Thanks in advance.
You are mistaken. I have the unlocked version of the V40 Thinq and I can confirm that there has not been an update since then. I recently crossflashed with the EBW version, Open United Kingdom flavor because I was tired of waiting for Android 10.

Doing hours and hours of research and fact digging, I guess either I've read the wrong things, or haven't found the right thing to read, but my question seems simple enough.
My Phone: AT&T LG V40 Thinq
Software Version: V405UA10n
Android Version: 8.1.0
Kernel Version: 4.9.65
Build Number: OPM1.171019.026
Android Security Patch: March 1st, 2019
There appears to be no known root for this device, I actually paid OneClickRoot to root my phone, and received a refund just as fast. In my looking around, I noticed that you have to have an unlocked bootloader to be able to root your phone, now with this being said, the European model: EU LMV405EBW does have the availability of an unlocked bootloader and the availability of root.
I downloaded the kdz of the EU LMV405EBW and before I go jackin everything up, I want to know if it's at all possible or "just a given" that since the phone can be unlocked, will my US AT&T sim card work in the unlocked EU version of the phone...?

AFAIK, i still not find any dll and lgup which compatible with lg v40.. it makes me sad since i still not be able to flash the phone which stuck in december 2018 security patch (HK version). So, we might have to wait until someone comes up with an idea which i doubt they will cause this phone is soo underrated.

I had a similar situation, I had a lm-405ua that I wanted to flash to a TW 405ebw firmware. I used the information from https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v40/how-to/guide-lgup-root-t3967858 and all went fine.

Hi. I'm having the AT&T version (LM-V405UA). Can I cross-flash firmware on this model? If so, what kind of firmware (name, type) should I need to pay attention to? Thanks.

You can read the link above I provided on info regarding cross-flashing using LGUP.
In terms of what you flash, what is the problem you are trying to solve by flashing a different firmware? In my case I wanted a regional firmware that supported voice over wifi with my telco.
Does anyone have, or is there a way to install the July security update to my Unlocked Sprint V40 which is on the May Security Patch. OTA will not work.
Thanks for any help.
Has anyone received this, as an unlocked device or one running carrier firmware? I've seen a lot of mentions that even as much as a week ago ATT released it as an OTA but I still haven't gotten anything as an unlocked phone running U firmware.
I also checked Frija and was able to pull the phone up under TMB and SPR (but not VZW or ATT obviously) and it's saying the latest firmware is still Android 10. And I can't even use SamFirm because I get that authentication error lol so is this update live or not for US/ATT?
Thanks!
I have an unlocked G781U1 converted to ATT G781U and still no update.
unlocked, running on ATT, no Android 11 update yet, not even the Jan. Security update either.
Unlocked, running on Verizon, no OneUI 3.0 update or Jan security patch.
Unlocked and no OneUI 3 joy here yet
I've been watching here...
Downloading OneUI 3.0 update now for unlocked on Verizon!!!
OneUI 3.0 showed up this morning. Unlocked phone purchased from Samsung currently on T-Mobile. I'm in AZ if that matters.
Unlocked T-Mobile sim, got One UI 3.0 this morning.
Unlocked on Mint. Received 3.0 update this morning. Installed and feels like a new phone. And no touch screen errors now. Still December security patch though.
just checked now, unlocked on AT&T....
Just started downloading here. Unlocked on Verizon.
Hi there,
Anyone on AT&T can possibly share latest firmware OTA update file with Android 11 for RAZR 5G (XT2071-2)?
As per AT&T site last update (Build version RPS31.Q1-40-34-15-10) was released on July 21, that update finally brings Android 11 to RAZR 5G.
Looks there is no other way to get Android 11 on XT2071-2 rather than via FOTA since 1) AT&T phones have locked bootloader & 2) it's not possible to unlock it via Motorola unlock program (confirmed for my phone).
I live outside of US and can't receive firmware OTA updates as phone should be physically connected to AT&T network.
Still, there is possibility to sideload OTA updates manually via ADB. To complete that proper firmware OTA file needed, here is guidance how OTA url can be captured either via ADB or from Developer menu.
Also, whoever is looking for Razr 5G Full Stock firmware images for different regions/carriers that can be found here
Thanks!
My phone model no is SM-G970U And sprint firmware preloaded But imei is a Verizon unlocked one. Actually It's imported from usa to Bangladesh. Now I dont get ota updates Which firmware now I will flash
I flashed Verizon firmware last month But it didn’t Work.
Is it safe to flash a stock rom of build no: SM-G970U1(XAA)?
AND IF I DO SO, WILL I GET OTA UPDATES?
Yes you can flash XAA, but you will probably not get OTA updates. Usually, carriers only provide OTA updates when they recognize the phone and it's on their carrier-ROM.
That being said, these phones are too old anyway, so they are not expected to get many updates going forward anyway. They may get a few more quarterly-updates, but not monthly and no new OS versions. For this reason, I wouldn't worry about OTA updates and if you still want updates just apply them yourself via ODIN.
