ANT+ functionality after Android 9 / OOS 9.0.6 - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Does anyone have an idea how to restore ANT+ functionality after the latest OOS 9.0.6 update? Apparently the ANT? firmware is not included in the latest update anymore, and therefore it is not possible to use it. Maybe it would be possible to somehow make it work using a similiar method to what the ANT+ Enabler that existed for some other devices previously? Of course this would either need the original developer or a new one to figure things out.
ANT+ Enabler: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.z2software.antplus&hl=fi&gl=US
The required additional application, Bluetooth+ is seemingly not available in Play Store anymore, though I have a backup of it for use with a previous Galaxy S4, which also had the problem similary occuring after the last stable update to Android.
Maybe someone who has experience loading device firmware could chime in on if it would even be possible, possibly using Oneplus 5T sources or older OOS. Oneplus 5T supposedly has Ant+ working fine.

Updated Kali NetHunter Guide ?

hi so i bought OP3T to have nethunter on it. but now i am totally confused how to install nethunter on my device properly, there needs to be an updated guide about it that i couldn't find in xda forums.
first about my phone:
it's OP3T on nougat, OOS 4.1.7 . currently i'm using latest official LOS 14.1 rom.
with Encryption enabled, on LOS stock kernel.
What i tried is this thread,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/development/kernel-kali-nethunter-oneplus-3t-t3507816
and i downloaded
nethunter-generic-arm64-kalifs-full-rolling-3.20-20170903-2143.zip
kernel-nethunter-oneplus3T-cm-nougat-3.20-20170903-2143.zip
by following above guide i went into TWRP recovery i flashed kernel which also flashed supersu with it, and then flashed kali nethunter,
everything went perfect, no problems, but i can't use kali nethunter, its terminal does not open,
on above thread @uaiclout pointed to following thread to use that build,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/kernel-boeffla-kernel-linaro-uber-t3455888/
but when i went to that thread that is a kernel and not a rom, and not a nethunter build,
i don't understand what do i have to do to make NetHunter work properly? and there is no specific thread / guide on it. i don't wanna brick my phone so taking my steps carefully, as i am new in OP3T and coming from Samsung devices there are some new strange abbreviations being used in OP3T forums which i don't know what they mean.
like bootloader thing is not being mentioned in OP3T forums but firmwares (i am confused what they are?) and like kernels are using some strange terms,
so it will be very thankfull for someone who uses NetHunter on OP3T successfully to create a guide or atleast tell others how you made it work on nougat LOS or other non-stock based custom roms? and kernels + wifi devices to be detected on phone like TL-WN722N ?
thanks in advance.
Hello Mate,
Welcome to the OnePlus fam!
So as I've understood, your Kali Terminal is not working. I've had the exact issue, and I fixed it by reinstalling the Terminal apk ;(https://github.com/offensive-securi...thunter-installer/update/data/app/Term-nh.apk)
If you're getting a chroot error, uninstall the chroot, and re-download it from Chroot Manager.
To correct your misunderstandings, Firmware is the base software of the phone, which has Modem information, etc etc. Firmware is released by OnePlus, and it has minor changes and tweaks with every new version. Developers can choose any Firmware version to build their ROM over it. So if you're installing a new ROM, make sure to check the Firmware version. If your current firmware version is below the required version for the ROM, TWRP will give you a "Error=7" when flashing the ROM.
Kali Nethunter is a Kernel for OP3/3T, not a ROM. Make sure you've flashed the correct Zip file, as there are many versions, one for OOS stock, another for LOS, and so on and on.
Also for using Kali for Wi-Fi related purposes, I must warn you that it is not legal, but if you must, then there is a specific Wi-Fi adapter to be used with the 3/3T. I will update you on what the exact model is, and it is quite inexpensive on eBay.
I advise you to use Kali on OOS, rather than LOS, as it is more stable on OOS.
Cheers!

now i am on latest PA official rom, i'm gonna try again. i like non-stock based roms because they allow device encryption with root (which stock roms don't allow) and i always keep my device encrypted as a security and ethical hacking student . i try to secure my devices from every new hack i learn. but i heard when you install NetHunter on Android, its security is compromised already, anyways,
as i mentioned the zips i downloaded from NetHunter builds, do you see any wrong zip? i downloaded kernel for CM based roms and also generic NetHunter,
which exactly Rom+Kernel combinations you have if you are using NetHunter? my device was on OOS 4.1.7 before i installed LineageOS 14.1 official on it. so suggest me the better OOS? and i will have to download anyway coz i lost my original backup of stock OOS 4.1.7 .
about wifi devices, i have 3 devices.
1. TP-LINK TL-WN722N
2. ALFA AWUS036H
3. ALFA AWUS036NH
none of them was detected by NetHunter app info screen, i heard on kali nethunter thread that TP Link TL-WN722N works, but it was not detected. but i can buy new device if needed, thats not a big issue, though it would be better if i can make one of above device to work with it. and there is a discussion on it that i will check if my NetHunter works properly first.
about the firmwares, i still don't get it, correct me if i'm wrong,
let say my phone was on OOS 4.1.7 when i bought it, then i rooted and installed TWRP on it, then i installed LineageOS 14.1 on it. so technically i am still on firmware 4.1.7 ? is that what you mean?
so if i want to install CM 13 on my device i will have to check what firmware is CM 13 build upon and flash that firmware before i flash CM 13 ? is that right?
so there is no trouble of bootloaders in OP3T as it was in samsung ? like in note 5 i upgraded to nougat and then i wanted to go back to lollypop but i couldn't because newer bootloader didn't allow me to go back, and i had to do some exercise to downgrade bootloader to lollypop before i could install any lollypop rom. so in OP3T firmware is to be flashed before installing certain roms is same like bootloaders was in samsung?
is it safe always to go back and forth in firmware flashings? if i wanna install lollypop rom i just flash that firmware which that rom is built upon and i am good to go? and then if i want to come back to nougat rom i just flash specific firmware and i'm good to go? (i know i am totally confused in this system, but i think i got it right now?). please confirm if all i said about firmwares is right or wrong so i can understand :fingers-crossed:
thanks
It sounds like the issue is that you are using PA. Their source is usually not CM/LOS based. I don't know about the newest versions though or if NetHunter has a PA compatible version.

G977B latest firmware currently, and potential One UI 3.0?

Hi, I haven't checked in here much since I first got my phone and followed the guides to update & root etc. It seems fairly quiet in here, guess it wasn't one of the massively popular phones.
My phone is currently running this firmware, but am I able to install newer versions from this list, which all match my phone's BTU code? (Also is there a best guide for updating a rooted phone?)
The other thing is the One UI 3.0 update, the old announcements mention S10 series phones getting it, and specifically include the S10 5G. All the recent beta files that have been made available and announced release dates for the official release version mention the other S10 models but not the 5G. Any ideas, anyone heard anything? Anyone officially signed up for betas and know they actually exist?
Cheers!

Roaming around is this the best setup for this phone (x526) also Camera question

For getting OTA updates and such seems the last ROM that offers this is Mokee (Android 10): https://download.mokeedev.com/s2.html with Open Gapps pico along with TWRP recovery.
This kernel seems to work as well as a set it and forget it kinda method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/nethunter-kernel-for-android-11.4451823/
Camera. The one linked in this forum seems to have issues with freezing. I found another one that worked flawlessly on Lineage 17 but I didn't backup the APK before wiping the phone and can't remember where I found it.
I don't prefer MoKee and instead would make an unofficial LineageOS build for android 10 (though no OTA) due to my preferences. Keys are public though so if you want to resolve the security alert, then sign with your own private keys. Android 11 is almost ready (including saving photos to gallery), just can't remove fingerprint directly from settings or else the fingerprint won't work.
The nethunter kernel seems fine but there may be less support when encountering bugs as most users use the stock Lineage kernel.
Cameras on custom ROMs may break due to software, bad libraries, etc. The camera that comes from LineageOS blackscreens or closes frequently (even with HAL3 disabled) and you were probably looking for a GCam port.
This phone is for someone else so ease of use like OTA updates is a must.
I'll poke around for Gcam mods till find the one that was used.
mokee or /e/OS then. Don't know about OTA because I haven't tried them, but builds are still being published.

questions about the right ROM for Note 8 (SM-N950F)

Hello,
my friend has a Samsung galaxy note 8 with the model SM-N950F and he was thinking about giving me his phone to install a custom ROM for him, the phone is running stock ROM.
my question is what is the most stable android 12/13 Rom ( AOSP ) that doesn't require rooting and has banking apps and the pen working fine, also what is the latest stable TWARP and Odin that works for that model ( because I had SM-G530h and some Odin versions didn't work with it ).
one more question is it available to go back to Stock ROM once again using Odin like with old Samsung phones and where can I find a trusted source as Sammobile doesn't seem to work for me for some reason?
thanks in advance for your help.

Your question is a contradiction. You're asking whether you can use a custom ROM without root but still pass Play Integrity and other checks? This is not possible. Simply having an unlocked bootloader makes your device fail. To pass Play Integrity and be able to use banking apps, the Universal SafetyNet Fix module is required for use with Magisk. Further, AOSP does not include any of the "frills" that Samsung preloads into their firmware, meaning that not all features may work, including the S Pen. If you want to try AOSP anyway, you can follow my guide here to install an AOSP GSI.
As for returning your device to stock using Odin, yes. Sammobile is a good source, but if it doesn't work for you, you can try Frija or Samfirm.js to download the firmware directly from Samsung's servers.

Frija is faster and I recommend it. SAMMobile forces users to register to their website and limit your DL-speed.
It's not strictly required to use Magisk. Some Custom ROMs by default spoof SafetyNet Attestation to BASIC and don't need Magisk.
But in the case of Custom ROMs like LineageOS (which doesn't spoof/hide the Unlocked Bootloader on purpose!), or Stock OneUI ROM, you do need to use Magisk + "MagiskHide Props Config" Magisk Module and set the fingerprint to Note8. If Note8 isnt available as a fingerprint, use SafetyNet-Fix Module.
Also, I don't use my Note 8 anymore, but we have Custom ROMs for Note8. I see we have LineageOS 20.0. Why use GSIs? They are much more unstable and buggy.

LineageOS is largely developed as a GSI. Yes, in many cases, it is bundled with a device specific kernel as a complete ROM, but for Project Treble compliant devices, a Generic System Image is just that - a single generic system image that does not have any device specific functions and can be used with any kernel on any device. In that regard, the official AOSP GSIs are very stable, and any issues are usually involved with the kernel, not the system image.

To be able to use Banking Apps, the following practices are good.
Passing SafetyNet (you can check this with YASNAC from Play Store).
If you don't pass SafetyNet, use Magisk with one of the 2 modules mentioned above.
You may also need to enable Zygisk, Enforce DenyList, and add your Banking Apps to Magisk DenyList.
I use a Xiaomi Poco F3 with ArrowOS Custom ROM, it already contains patches to force SafetyNet to BASIC, and so I dont need any modules, but only Zygisk, Force DenyList, and add my Banking Apps to the DenyList and reboot ^^

Generic System Image releases | Platform | Android Developers
developer.android.com
The official Googley ones. Tho I don't mind, since I use an AOSP Custom ROM anyway (on my Xiaomi phone). My Note 8 is kept on OneUI 1.0... i miss the "Samsung Experience" dayz.. Yknow, the OS that came after TouchWiz. It had a rather professional-looking boxy design. Don't like the Huge padding and Rounded Corners of OneUI. The modern OneUI versions are also eh. Due to Samsung stuffing additional apps like TikTok and other rubbish as pre-installed apps.

Huh. I've used both the "pure" GSIs from Android CI, as well as the Android Developer GSIs on my Tab A 8.0 with the CUK4 kernel. Everything works like it should. Make sure you're using the correct architecture and bitness for your device - most are arm64 - but in the off case that your Xiaomi isn't ARM, there will likely be a lot of issues.
Remember that while a Treble kernel should run any GSI, you still have to wipe data. You can't go from OEM firmware to GSI or vice versa without a data wipe; that cause a a lot of stability issues.
thanks for the replays and information guys regarding official releases of AOSP ROMs I haven't seen one that is higher than android 9 ( which is mainly the reason why we want to install a higher version due to compatibility issues with the company portal apps ) so any idea what is the most stable ROM for that model running android 10 or above

Stock Rom or Custom Rom?

Hey there. i have a s20 fe 5g (snapdragon, model SM-G781B), galaxy s8 (exynos), ans galaxy tab A 7.0 2016. Right now I managed to install Android 13 (Lineage OS 20 + NikGapps + Magisk for safetynet) on my backup s8 aswell I managed to flash Lineage os 14 (Android 7, along with Gapps) on my galaxy tab A. Im wondering to do the same about my S20 FE 5G since its support is unfortunately about to end. Thought of flashing TurboUI after i would unlock my device but just want to confirm its safe before doing so. What you guys think? Many thanks.

Hello
This will depend on what use you will give it.
Apparently you are not interested in any of the OneUi customization layer, nor Samsung Dex.
Personally, I am not interested in lineageOS or any rom that is not based on OneUi.
well with many errors, be fighting with incompatibility.
you will find GSI, Lineageos, etc.
I preferred stock rom with modified kernel, androd 13 will not stop working in 2023,2024,2025, etc.
I don't see the importance of moving to an invented and beta system for the team, at least at present.
You will find among the best options:
*stock,root,kernel(bandit,klimbo,etc)
*Turboui v4
*GSI.

Rn my S20 FE 5G is at binary 5. I dont care about rollbacking because i do like the latest verisons and have no use to move onto earlier versions. I just wonder if binary 5 would only limit me to this android 13 one ui 5.1 (like if i couldnt install an android 13 or even a future android 14 rom only because of binary 5). Would it be safe to switch to a custom rom that has the same patch and the same android version without binary 5 doing mess there (like i want to install the latest turboUI at one ui 5.1 may patch, is that possible?)
Rn the device is at may security update, I hope it solved this problem so I could safely move to custom rom without further issues. If I had screwed please let me know as possible to I could reconsider before doing so avoiding further damage. And yeah I have checked OEM unlock and it appears so i believe no issues should occur, just should factory reset (among with removing samsung and google accounts before doing so), enable debugging and oem unlock, go to download mode and then unlock bootloader, and then flash twrp and then whatever i think so.
And yeah I prefer one UI over stock android however the latest custom one ui version for s8 was only one ui 2.5 (hades rom) and no one even dares to make a new one for it, is just dead there. I felt urged to install android 13 so i had no choice but to flash LineageOS 20 (along with nikgapps and magisk). Meanwhile the S9 can get even one ui 5.1 ported via noble rom. I wish something would be done despite being 3 years already since.
But still I won't have prob flashing kernels instead of custom roms if so. Thank you very much.
Alright, just managed to install TurboUI without issues and against all odds.
I was worried because the new binary would mess there but still I managed to do it without issues, and I feel grateful for it
Speechless.
I can't appeal your urges to desperately switch roms.
reading the previous thing you wrote, I have nothing more to say.
If you have errors in the future, please go to the appropriate channels, (turboui, gsi tem, etc.)
Thus, avoid publications due to user errors without investigating before installing.
excellent day.

Alright, have to admit, learnt the hard way
there is SEVERE lack of custom roms there. The lineage OS cant mix with gapps and the custom one ui rom drains battery faster. I had no choice to revert to stock rom. I downloaded its firmware of april patch. Flashed it using Odin and it worked successfully!
You can call me an idiot for the rest of my life as you wish, i had should considered before doing so. Anyways I feel grateful for restoring its rom. But anyways if I would need safetynet I would welcome myself to do so.
I should learn more before installing these stupid roms. Maybe i will continue flashing on S8 but i wont longer flash on S20 FE since that incident. (And noice, the software firmware not matching, aka red message on bot disappear!)
If you have any suggestions youre welcome to tell me so, sorry for not beliving you at first. I should owe you everything
Have a nice night, ig, and I should learn much from that
I understand your inspiration to improve performance.
I've been doing this from symbian (nokia, sony ericcson, palm, blackberry, ios)
current times are not the same.
we are with more powerful processors.
larger and faster ram memories.
Over the years it took me to understand that it is currently not necessary to change the rom.
Example: you are with a s20 FE android 13, it is a completely current system, recently released last December.
I would not have to go to lineageOs, why?
Why did android 14 come out for lineageOs?
I'll have to break down my s20, of course not.
Seeking to get the most out of Oneui with a kernel that exploits its characteristics and without system bugs, seems to me to be a more suitable option.
When it is 2026 or 2027 see GSI options would be a good option.
repeat again, it is a personal thought, for so long I learned, to free myself from stress and constant mistakes.

Alright, just finished relocking my bootloader. Yeah, no more software updates but I can still download them online, and they are security updates so i guess not really a big loss because no more OS updates (One ui 5.1 is final!). Still I HAVE to learn from this incident onwards, maybe on 3 years whenever the device would be too old like the s8 only then i would reconsider doing so. But for now I would stay with this stock rom and I would keep updating it time to time as needed. Everyone makes mistakes anyways. And yeah bank apps continue to work despite device not being play certified, so I guess no root and safetynet would be required. Still, Im very sorry for now trusting you, and I would from now reconsider what Im doing. Lets hope it wont happen even again, peace
Edit: Also managed to get OTA updates and play certification back after relocking it, noice, updating to may patch shortly after recovering my data

I understand
my team is a:
G781B Oneui 5.1 patch February binary 4.
I'm in stock, recovery, no encryption, root, kernel Klimbo or bandit.
I am more than satisfied.
a kernel that delivers power, overclock, etc.
For games it is plenty, for daily use it is wonderful.

Only that I currently install several roms, kernels, graphic drivers, etc.
they only cause bugs.
If you are looking for something stable I recommend stock and what I mention.
greetings.
In banking matters, there are modules for magisk, they worked for me.

my team is a:
G781B Oneui 5.1 patch February binary 4.
I'm in stock, recovery, no encryption, root, kernel Klimbo or bandit.
I am more than satisfied.
a kernel that delivers power, overclock, etc.

Yeah as I relocked my bootloader play certification and ota updates came back
No longer trusting those BS roms, only losers would do so. That rom has drained me much battery and only let me charge at 3W (Yeah I have charger with display, and this occured in real life!)?! What a BS rom tbh! The only positive point I managed to find was the Google feed, but who would burn their battery away just for google feed?! After reflashing stock rom much better!
Very important thing to consider if you even think about flashing a custom rom on your S20 FE 5G. DONT DO IT, YOU WOULD REGRET IT SHORTLY.
I have unlocked bootloader and OEM root.
Even so, I get updates that obviously I will not update.
The last strong update was 5.1 in February. We will not have 6.0, there is no point in updating.
I can go back from android 13 to 12 and 11. Is it necessary? No, but I have the option.
greetings.

In the end security updates should protect us from any kind of exploits, including dangerous ones
But as the devices continues to discontinue (I mean, from october 2023 will start Quarterly updates and year later fully discontinued, the point would of course rise again. But until this happens the custom roms have a chance to delelop as time is going, and if there wont be atleast 1 GOOD custom rom, whats the point to attempt to flash a human managed ROM just to later report bugs to them, impacting your daily basis and ect?
After the last security update on about 2024 I believe custom roms would have chance to rise again, just like it was with the S8. S8 ROMs are better than the S20 FE 5G's ones. I need this time to let the custom roms develop, and once they are developed enough I would reconsider on installing one.
Until then, good luck

I understand you.
The people who have the time to try the roms are appreciated and they are the ones who help the development.
in 2018 i had s9 snapdragon 845.
I was on oneui 2.5 android 10.
in your case you acquired s9 exynos. a jewel to know that note 10 lite would carry android 12 and 13.
They gave me an A7 2017, said note 10 lite managed to port oneui 2.5 android 10 (official was in 8.0 oreo)
I'm assuming your s9 runs android 13.
only that samsung Dex and iris lose or am I wrong?
Anyway, for day-to-day use, having the s9 with android 13 is great.
Yes, the roms for the s8 will be better, because the years have passed and the project is more mature.

I never had a s9 but I have a s8. The only problem with the S8 was that its latest One UI Rom is only maxed at One Ui 2.5 (Android 10, Hades ROM). Thats the only main one UI port available. You want to upgrade software? flash lineageOS then! Pretty dissapointing S8 only supports One UI 2.5 max meanwhile S9 supports one ui 5 max. And note 10 lite doesnt have as many custom roms as the S9. So just like the s8 got locked at one ui 2.5, the s9 would also lock at one ui 5? and after getting locked would the s9 users be forced to install stock android, just like on the case of the S8 users which the same happened to them earlier?

In the case of the s8 it is to be in 2.5 with android 10.
is a candidate for lineageos or gsi.
the exynos s9 will have up to oneui 5.1 ported from note 10 lite.
remember that originally it would be in 2.5 android 10.
you can still live with the s9 with note lite size on android13.
or at best go to s20 fe
Alright, an update after a while
Managed to successfully resolve the issue with Samsung health not working: I have installed a patched version and it's working like new. Just to note I shouldn't update it in any case. The only question is if it would sync with the watch. I mean it already can sync with the account, but I would to test it with the watch too. If everything is going fine I have no prob returning to Samsung. The fact I even didn't had to root to install modules only to patch this issue was wonderfull.
About secure folder and Samsung pass I don't care anymore about them and I had barely used them too, and I have no issue leaving them alone. Instead of secure folder I can use Google photo's safe to store my naughty photos, and about Samsung pass I can use Google passwords instead. Galaxy wearable has worked from day 1 since the issue no matter the incident.
This is a big lesson for my ass, and I shall be smart before doing naughty things like this again. Kids, please learn from me and don't be a stupid guy like me.
