Kill Foreground App / Screen Off Shortcuts - Google Pixel 5 Questions & Answers

After I killed my A10 Pixel 4A in the rain, I bought a Pixel 5, unlocked, rooted, etc.. I was using GravityBox via exposed on A10, which allowed for programming long presses of the menu keys. I had them set to kill the foreground app, and quickly turn the screen off. GravityBox isn't yet available for A11, but I was wondering if there is a module, app, or setting that will do those things? I'm using Nova launcher.
So....thanks for the help everyone.....
I found the answers I was looking for elsewhere. Using Button Mapper to kill foreground apps, and EX Kernel w/ sweep2sleep function to turn the screen off.

Screen lock app or gesture

I'm a fan of not having to use any of the physical buttons, this is why i liked using custom roms, on my other devices, that allowed this and also taking advantage of the gesture features with the launcher i use, Nova Launcher.
So for rom version 5.1.1 i like it the way it is, but it's just lacking the option to lock the screen without having to use the physical button. i've installed the app "Reboot Menu" and it has all the features i need but the Lock Screen option lacks for me, because when you use the feature, and wake the phone up again, the Reboot menu is still open. If it closed after the selection that would be great. If Nova Launcher had this feature within the gesture options..that would be even better! anyways, anyone with me on this? is there another app better than the Reboot Menu app?
there is an app called screen off in play store once u use it, it put the screen off
what i do is im using nova too and in setting the gestures i designated the double tab gesture to use this app
result ... double tapping the screen puts it off
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
this is the app

How to add a Power Off Button in the Status Bar?

I have a Rooted Note 4 (T-Mobile) N910T 6.0.1
I would like to add a Power Off Button (Actually just sleep - not actual power off)
I had TEKXodus N4 ROM on it for a bit - but I had issues with it and went back to Stock Firmware.
TEKXodus N4 has a great little Power Off Button at the top right corner of the status bar.
I am looking for a way to do that.
Does GravityBox do that? (It's been a long time since I used GravityBox)
Thanks!
Edit Note:
I did find that the launcher I use (Nova Launcher) has a setting I can use to make a Gesture - Screen Lock - that works well and does not affect Air Wake either)
Some of the Screen Off and Lock Apps seemed to kill AirWake when I tried them a while ago)
The only problem with using a gesture in NOVA Launcher is: It Locks the Screen vs just turn off the Screen (like hitting the power button does).
I use Smart Lock when at home and work - wifi - locations and all I have to do is use airwake to wake it up, then swipe the screen
If I use the NOVA setting it locks my Note 4 and I have to Swipe fingerprint or if using a pin enter it
I know it can be done as it is in TEKXodus N4 ROM I used - I just had too many random reboots (Even after completely wiping all but ext SD Card 4 x)

Yeah.. I had similar issues when watching YouTube videos on that ROM.. :/
Look into all in one gestures on the play store. You can set up single or double tap, and long press gestures to the status bar.
I used it on one rom to bring down the brightness slider in a floating little window when i held down the status bar as it was missing from the notification panel...
I found an app that does just this!
"Screen off via short timeout" DYNA Logix
I can tap the screen off icon and then later I can wake up with say Air Wake and my fingerprint
Every other app I found messed with SmartLock and Finger Print unlock

GMD Gesture Control on Huawei Mate 10

Latest version of GMD Gesture Control works fine on Mate 10 but overly aggressive Huawei power management system puts the app to sleep short time after the screen is ON, even if "ignore battery optimization" exclusion is added for the app. The only solution I found to keep the GMD Gesture Control active/alive is to disable "Power Genius" system app. Otherwise gestures stop working short time after screen is ON, until GMD Gesture Control is made foreground, when the story repeats.
How did you disable "Power Genius" system app?
The disable button is greyed out in the "Power Genius" app info in my phine, only force stop is available.

My phone is rooted, I used Titanium Backup to disable the Power Genius.
Does GMD still require root? It did when I used it years ago .
EDIT: Yup. Still does. Oh well, still avoiding root for now...

I run scripts a lot using MacroDroid. If you disable Google Playstore group the battery life is significantly improved when idle. That's why I need root to run automatic enabling/disabling google apps in different scenarios
What's been the impact on your battery time and screen on time of disabling the power genius app? I'm now rooted and have encountered the same frustration. But the non-root app, Edge Gestures, is pretty good and survives if you take it out of battery optimization -- so I'm trying to decide whether I need/want to go back to the greater options of GMD.
Also, if you disable Power Genius, did you substitute in Greenify?
Unfortunately, after rooting I disabled Power Genius but GMD Gesture still gets terminated by the software, even though it's excepted from power optimization and authorized to run in the background. Sigh.
EDIT: I think I found a fix -- I made GMD a system-priv app, using the Magisk module Terminal Systemizer. So far, so good. Might also work for the widget not updating issue on other apps (although I haven't tried yet, as so far disabling Power Genius has done the trick for them).

Gestures

Hi, first of all, sorry my eng. I have a problem with the gestures of MIUI 10, I come from OP 5T, and I used the gestures, that was from 3 positions from bottom (bottom left, center and right) on MI 9, the gestures (as u maybe know) are botton center, and the 2 sides from the screen, and I can't get use of it because I dont like. So here go the question
Is possible to change the gestures on the phone? Like a setting or sort of, without third apps?
I have the bootloader unlocked and rooted with last magisk, so im open to modules and rooted things.
Thanks.
Edit: I buy and installed Vivid N.G. but sometimes the app fail and I lose the gestures and have to reset the device because dont have navigation buttons enabled.
I bought the same app(Vivid N.G.) and have been using it for a month.
The problem you're talking about is that the app has been forced to close.
The solution is...
First,
Make background settings unlimited in the setup app.
The default setting will be MIUI Battery Saver.
Second,
on the multitasking screen, press the navigation app on the lock icon to prevent it being forced to close.
I've been writing it for a month, just like I said.
I've never had a problem unless I intentionally shut down the app.

Android Q problems with status bar and gestures

Last week I bought a Galaxy S10 phone and encountered some issues with Android Q.
Cannot turn on the immersive mode for all applications (except my launcher)
Cannot disable the swipe up gesture, so do not open the app drawer / notification bar
During the weekend I've read many blogs and threads, but none of the possible solutions worked. I tried:
Install Immersive Mode Manager and apply a general rule (left a black space at the top of the screen)
Install bxActions but the result is the same
Install App Cloner but most of my applications didn't work afterwards (like Chrome)
Install Nova Launcher and stop using One UI but I couldn't disable the swipe up gesture. It's especially annoying when I have to do a similar gesture to start an attack in a game and the phone opens the notification bar instead.
Do you have any advice I could try? Even if I need to root my phone to make them solved.
