Nope, they are two different ROMs on different channels: for instance you could have dirty flashed if you were on 3.5.2 or 3.5.3.
I need to wipe system too? Or only cache/dalvik + data?

I want to try new CB but more likely I will be going back to official 3.2.7 I have nandroid backup ready. My question is, if I follow your guide and then I want to restore my backup, will I be able to do it without the hassle?

You can even dirty flash this over 3.2.7 (will take some time after 1st boot to optimize apps depending on the number of apps installed) , Nandroid can be restored with out hassle if you choose to clean flash 3.2.7 after testing CB
I'm on TWRP 3.0.2-1, and I can't install Rom zip, it always tells me that zip file is corrupted. I've downloaded it twice however, once from Google drive, once from AFH.
Any idea of what's wrong?

Try re-flashing Twrp by downloading a fresh copy , and manually mount system before flashing the ROM ,
You can also try downloading it directly to your gdrive and let it sync in your PC / phone by "make available offline" feature in drive app

Yes... File is corrupted... So much of mobile data wasted..
DO READ ALL CAREFULLY ! I MEAN ..... ALL…
When installing this zip you have to know it’ll make your intSD to be formatted when you want to revert to Nougat (see later on) . So do follow instructions carefully, otherwise do flash something else….don’t want to see some tears due to this one
So, thought I upload my twrp zip of A2017 V3.0.0B01 MiFavor 5.2 based on @wineds backup (thnx mate !). And make a FULL GUIDE for it !
As some of you wanted to test out this V3.0.0B01(version2) not through EDL but via a regular twrp zip, here you go !
Pros and Cons but did my best to make it as it is...
PRO :
*stock rom with Dolby
*almost fully debloated of Chinese adware
*working magisk 15.3 and safetynet
*working adaway
*magisk modules working fine
*no call bugs
*no hickups or stuttering UI
*scaling up to 0.25 – much faster UI experience
*axon7 G bootanimation
*FP scanner less then 1/2sec response time
*…
CONS :
*didn’t manage to make system r/w through root explorers ; you can however delete and add files - or use twrp - i guess you’ll have to live with that and test for yourselves
*reboot time lasts langer then normal
*quick-charging does work but does not display that on screen
*dialer phone call list may show some chinese characters next to "mobile", "work". It's a translation of it.
*…
Procedure : READ CAREFULLY !!!!!
0. Download/place files onto extSD (not intSD) formatted as Fat(32)/exFAT (otherwise your extSD might seem “corrupt” when booted – see also PNW) :
a. Twrp3.2.1.5
b. A2017X_V3.0.0B01_O_SL!M rom
c. A2017X_V3.0.0B01_bootstack twrp3.2.1.6 incl
d. Modem G or U
e. A2017X_universalB15_twrp3.2.1.0 included and/or your bootstack of your running rom at the moment
f. Magisk 15.3
1. Do make a full backup of your intSD ! ( on pc or extSD like you want ). You’ll loose your intSD when reverting back and needs formatting to EXT4. YOU ARE WARNED!
2. Install twrp3.2.1.0 (if not already running) !
3. Do make a full backup in twrp3.2.1.0 of your entire working rom (boot, modem, system, data)(if not already done)
4. Boot into twrp3.2.1.0 and flash twrp3.2.1.5(a), reboot in recovery AGAIN ( do not boot system)
5. Wipe system/data/cache/dalvik
6. Install (b) rom
7. Install (c) bootstack
8. Install (d) modem (G/U)
9. Flash magisk 15.3 (f)
10. Wipe cache/dalvik
11. Reboot
12. Tap power on “5sec” and “30sec” screen ( I know….the corrupt boot is awfull,,don't blame me...)
13. You’ll be powered off/red lights
14. Power for around 10sec and you’ll boot
15. Tap middle circle on bootpage, choose English, setup wifi, check in,…..
16. You’re on !
17. Uncheck auto update into Playstore !
18. Check safetynet magisk. Should be ok
19. Check adaway. Should be ok. If not : check “systemless hostst” under magisk/settings
20. Enjoy adless youtube
21. ….
You can add the new JoJoc module in magisk to juice up your battery-life :good:
Tip : disable left page (Mi-board) with long press on home screen/goto more/uncheck Mi-Board
REVERT PROCEDURE to Nougat : READ CAREFULLY !!!
1. Boot into twrp3.2.1.6
2. Flash twrp3.2.1.0 and reboot into recovery AGAIN (not into system !)
3. You will see you have to “cancel” and swype and you’ll have to format intSD again. But first look also if you see your old twrp backup you took earlier into the restore option
4. When so, go into wipe/advanced/wipe/choose data/change filesystem to EXT4
5. Then go into wipe : wipe system/data/cache/dalvik
6. Restore your old twrp backup
7. Flash universal B15 ! (for nougat)
8. Reboot
9. Red lights...but power again for some secs
10. You’ll boot
11. When booted, reenter twrp again and flash ( if needed ) your own bootstack again ( in my case on G I flashed the B09 bootstack (slim4) and in same flash also the B09-removeBLwarning )
12. Reboot and you’re on your old running rom now

It's all in procedure you know. And no you'll have to install 3.2.1.5. Later on, when bootstack is flashed you'll end up even on 3.2.1.6 to not corrupt your data EXT4 partition.
Anyway, read carefully and do all as described!!! This is not a regular flash

Performance is up to you to test. For me it has no lags only the ones mentioned in OP. When listening f.e. on youtube, imo sound quality is way above N.
Battery with Jojoc tweak is comparable to N.
Also less then 1/2sec for FP scanner. So no bug there as before.
Test it yourself and compare :good:
Why this version and not B07?
Did not boot on my U version. Waiting on animation for 15 minutes
Booted for me (A2017G).
Fingerprint sensor is veeeery slow when phone has been sleeping.
For adaway, I had to change the setting in Magisk, as mentioned in the OP.
Other than that, it seems ok. It would be nice to have a way of applying the B07 OTA though.
Thanks again raystef66!!!

If no go , wipe system/data/cache/dalvik again and redo procedure all over.

Yeah, V3B07 would be great (i worked on it before) but then again for now no dolby when rooted and vice versa afaik. Therefore i worked on this one.
For G version (not sure about U) , if you want to disable nav_bar, use my navbar df!nr

Recommendation
I recommend this-
Its unversaly. I use this on every rom.
Regularly updated.

P.S. I never format data while updating before flashing this (never needed, it works fine without that). I onlyformat data whenever i want pure clean install of any rom.
Just make sure to flash this after rom and after custom kernel or anything that edits boot. But flash this before Magisk. So. In short-
1. Flash- rom
2. Flash custom kernel or any thing that edits boot
3. Flash this to decrypt and to boot ur device successfully
4. Then flash Magisk
Note1: When you need clean install then follow these steps-
1. Factory reset (as normal when u do but if u r flash pure stock than wipe everything- i recommend this everytime for every stock(based) rom)
2. Reboot to recovery again
3. Click on Format data, type yes and format it.
4. Reboot to recovery again
5. And now go on flashing as mentioned above before these steps.
Note2: When u just need to update and not clean install. Then follow these steps-
1. First make sure to remove all magisk modules (when enabled it makes issues - after Magisk 18 and Pie update - before these updates i never got issues)
2. Now in twrp flash update zip
3. Flash anything that edits boot (ex. - custom kernel) if you want.
4. Now flash Magisk
5. Don'y flash any tweaks etc yet. (xXx NoLimits also)
6. Reboot.
7. Now if you want flash tweaks, modules etc.
8. And now only you are ready to flash xXx NoLimits again if you want.

Magisk must be flashed after dm...zip. But if you have already installed magisk then no worries. Flash DM Verity n force encrypr disabler and then again flash magisk. No need to format data in this case. Format data only needed when you are doing pure clean install of stock (based) rom. Check my signature, i am on OOS 9.0.2 that is android pie 9.0 and magisk v18. Decrypted (using that dm verity and force encrypr disabler).
Aroma compatible twrp (recovery.img) : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=6006931924117889478
(tested on latest April Xperia Pie : 47.2.A.10.45)
BASIC guidance :
Be sure to read NewFlasher thread carefully first (Widevine L3 instead of L1 for locked bootloader).
0) recovery download
1) fastboot mode blueLight :$ fastboot flash recovery 270recovery9omni8-1FBEkeymaster3-twrp3_3_1.img
2) reboot STRAIGHT to twrp and always backup /boot only before Magisk-ified (needed with /system only in case of complete re-initialization or format, and for Treble roms)
3) flash magisk (min 17.3)
4) boot Pie (SafetyNet and Playstore certified should be ok with latest Magisk app after few mn)
Note: don't force remove bloatware: just disable them, so they won't reappear after future ota.
Once done, with your original /boot backup ( plus complete/full Magiskified backup), you can switch, without format /data, to my (xz1 enhanced) aosp Treble /system image: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...arm64aosp-9-0-0r21-microg-ufofficial-t3878115 , and restore back SonyXperia later with your full backup.
Future upgrade(ota):
-XperiFirm new firmware download + move away fotaKernel..sin & userdata..sin & simlock.ta + newflasher(with greenLight!)
-reboot STRAIGHT to recovery (and backup /boot only, before Magisk-ified)
-flash latest Magisk (min 17.3)
-boot Pie (SafetyNet and Playstore certified should be ok with latest Magisk app after few mn)
Optionally:
(-install Magisk Screen recorder or Snapdragon gallery, or aospEmail-SnapExchange free of analytics... )
-For better battery use KernelAdiutor with [conservative]highCpu & [ondemand]lowCpu (Adaway...)
Note: with or without su/hack, NightLight dim brightness is actually broken (wip)
Supplement:
This edition includes latest Aroma File Manager and TA partition backup: saves copies in sdcard/TWRP/ of TA, modemst1&2, boot.img plus some /vendor files like the identification build.prop ( default.prop fstab.qcom gps.conf uevent.rc). Every backup proceeds a copy of previous sdcard/TWRP/ TA.bin modemst1&2.bin and Id. build.prop in sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/.

No, just re-create (sdcard)/TWRP/theme/ui.zip exactly, and then launch Advanced§ReloadTheme from twrp recovery . Since I didn't include languages/*xml in them, you can only select Settings§Language without my uploaded themes (ui.zip) first. (Advanced§AromaFM & backupTA lines are also missing in regular uiBlueClassic.zip xml).
They are many twrp themes on xda, just be sure to use 3.3.0 ui.zip compatible edition.
Thanks for the new TWRP with Encryption. Device SOV36
Thank you for this fine version of twrp.
I am getting this error when making a full backup (ticked all partitions)
"error backing up system image, cleaning up folder"
I am running stock 47.2.A. 10.45 and j4nn kernel. Ric is off (i can write in system) and twrp are flashed.
i press "cancel" when asking for a password.
Normally the twrp just backup everything without any issues, so i must do something wrong??
Kind regards torben5247

You can also use these themes for the 3.3.xx twrp
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/custom-themes-for-twrp.849931/
Or if you search with Google, you can use all the 3.2.3 theme

Why do you think it's a risk? If it doesn't work, it doesn't fit the theme and I use it!
@oF2pks
Hi, your newest version have original theme from TWRP or that from your previous version ?
Why can't I install any other ROM with this recovery?
Getting some invalid zip error.
Guys I successfully installed HAVOC-OS located https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/gsi-havoc-os-t3930030. The steps I followed are mentioned below
1. Wipe everything except internal storage.
2. Flashed BRK3 Vendor https://mega.nz/#F!wFFQUYbI!GZvNOBSn1wVn8U9mQDzBiw!IQsjlYzA
2. Installed Endurance GSI kernel https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/samsung-galaxy-s9--s9-cross-device-development/kernel-endurance-kernel-v1-0-t3849434
3. Flashed the system image for ARM 64 A only
4. Boot system
5. Reboot to recovery and Flashed Mgisk
6. Gapps will fail to install at first. Just goto wipe -> Adv wipe -> system partition -> Resize. Reboot to recovery and flash Gapps
7. Reboot and enjoy
8. You can test other GSI Roms also and report. The thread is located at https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development
Thanks buddy. I was looking for the ways to run the GSI. And the method works. Good job
thanks for the guide! im still on an unrooted s9, but if everything works ill definetly make the jump. Can you tell us more about stability, bugs and if there are things not working
So after testing the ROM for 2 days I can say that
1. It is very stable and can be used as a daily driver
2. Everything works, I am not sure about Bluetooth audio though, haven't checked it
3. It can be heavily customized. Unlike LOS, where we have only few of these features available
4. Battery life is the best I got using any other ROM out there (check the screens below). and I am the guy who gets 3 hrs of SOT, when others claimed 5+ hrs on the same ROM.
5. Security patch is latest even as compared to the TW ROMs
6. Regarding camera... Its the same as LOS pie. Use gcam by idan 3.5 fixed and you are good to go.

Yes it is
Thanks for trying this out. I'm only a few months in with my exynos S9 on android pie, so I haven't yet learned the details about rooting/recovery for this phone.
I'll wait for your next update regarding daily use, and would love a more detailed step-by-step for installation if that's not too much trouble. I'm honestly loving those screenshots.
How about IMEI, BRK3 Vendor safe..?
Ok here is the detailed tutorial on how to install a GSI rom
1. First you need to wipe everything in TWRP. Just like you do, when you clean flash any rom
2. Than install the BRK3 vendor. Link is provided by the OP. It's a flashable zip file so just flash it like any other zip.
3. Flash the Endurance GSI kernel. Link is in the OP.
4. Next, download the GSI rom from the link in the OP. Remember to download the ARM 64 A-only variant.
5. Extract the files and you should get a . Img file. Copy that in the SD card
6. In the TWRP, goto install. Select flash image from the bottom right corner of your screen. Now browse the image file, that you copied and choose system image and install.
7. Boot to the system and than boot back to the recovery.
8. Now flash the magisk
9. If you try to install gapps, it will give an error regarding space. So just goto wipe -> advance wipe > system repartition > resize
After resize, you will be able to install gapps.
Flash gapps, automatic brightness fix ( link in the rom thread), AOD fix ( link in the rom thread) and reboot.
