Some time ago Google released very powerful 'Live captions' app for pixel devices.
For those who do not know it yet, short video:
I finally run it on my nonPixel device but I just missed the option to translate text in real time something that gives us AllTrans module. But unfortunately it is not able to detect the application and replace the text probably because it works as a service .
transcription and translation of text in real time in different languages using different engines (deepl, Microsoft Google) would be so awesome.
Is this possible to do it with the service? Could someone try port it to Alltrans ? Or some suggestions ?
AllTrans source: https://github.com/akhilkedia/AllTrans
Quick guide how to run it on nonPixel (xiaomi and10 lineageos in my case)
-Install hideProps+ Live Captions nonPixel v1 by MishaalRahman found in Google
-reboot -> in terminal su > props > then apply pixel one (pixel 3 XL in my case)
Clear play services & play store data then reboot
-After that you should see update for personalisation services in market my apps and install it (if not want for while to rebuild Pstore database or link market manually (via TB)
Add microphone perm and enable it from settings > sound > live captions

Can end users use android applications on this device? I read that developers can install android applications using adb but how about end users?
I saw an example that a developer runs an application from from a time line object (youtube 6f9fh6vq6zs "Google Glass Makes you a Shopping Ninja
"), he is running an application he installed through this way, right?
As far as I read, glassware only supports a system like push notifications. You have a server that can send messages to users and user can reply back with that messages. Is it correct?
I want to make a similar barcode reader app for Glass. However I believe it is not possible for now. I can 'share' photos to my server (like twitter) and it can reply with timeline events, I guess this is the only way for end users. Is this true?
Also what are the release plans for google glass, I read 'it is pushed to 2014' anything more? Will there be a proper Android app support? SDKs for Glass?
Thanks
User apps
The main "issue" for end users is that
1) there's no market yet for Dalvik/native apps (only google's web api so far)
2) even if there were, there's no way to browse google play on glass....
3) and there is no way to launch a native app on Glass.
So what needs to be done to launch native apps is to:
1) ADB install
- Dalvik/native applications must be installed with adb: $ adb install -r [sampleName].apk
- That's annoying, but maybe you do that only once...
2) ABD run
- Dalvik/native applications can be run with adb: $ adb shell am start -n com.google.glass.samples.<sampleName>/.<MainActivityName>
- That's annoying as well...
3) Launchy launcher
- There's launchy, and open source launcher that allows you to browse through the installed native apps (installed using step 1) and launch them (github kaze0 launchy)
- Google XE10 (October release) will include launchy (keep in mind that's explorer edition, it doesn't mean a commercial release will have this...)
Comments:
1) Dalvik/native apps must be heavily designed anyways to work with Glass....
2) A new concept for a launcher and interactions is needed... that's why google promotes the web api... probably launchy is not the answer but just a stepping stone to allow explorers to play with native apps
3) I saw on Play store when publishing apps that there's a device called "glass-1".... speculations......
4) For sensor data logging, a native app running in the background as a service is definitely handy
Cheers,
Dan
Hello I got ZTE AXON M MODEL Z999 as gift... Butits a Chinese version. Although I have changed its language to english but still apps showing many messages in Chinese like weather app still showing weather and time in Chinese.
Also there is no google play store so,
How I convert this totally english?
And how to install new apps as there is no Google play store?
Hello Ikhalud,
First be sure you have the latest version of the system (Axon M CN 2.10 / Security patch 01 Feb. 2019). You can then install google play from the ZTE Market, works fine (use the photographic traduction from google traduction app with another phone for exemple or just type google play in search bar from ZTE Market). Some of the pre-installed chinese apps are un-installable, just go to settings, applications, and hit the uninstall button if available. You might want to keep some of them, like the gaming apps which get you a joystick like screen on one of the screens to use with your game on the other screen. If you reset the system you'll get everything back in case, so don't worry.
Then you can use another launcher, like Lawnchair or Nova in order to get rid of the rest of the chinese look. I think that Lawnchair doesn't display the names of the shortcuts in one of the display modes, Landscape if I'm right (don't know why, maybe it will be solved in an update).
If you need to install other languages, use More Locales 2 app from play store. You have to use ADB command from a computer connected to your phone with debugging on to grant permission to the app, type in an admin command terminal:
adb shell pm grant com.langs.locales android.permission.CHANGE_CONFIGURATION
Of course you have to have all drivers installed for you phone on your computer. Google is your god if you need more help, like always!
Enjoy your new phone, it's much better than any flexible screen one, the real way to go. Too bad it gets very limited support from ZTE, probably no more updates and no real development from our small user's community. But I keep hoping someone get us LineageOS or Mokee running on it.
Hey all,
After days of testing and comparing older APKs, I found the ideal version of Google Maps for the Huawei P40 Pro without GMS:
-no Google Play missing error on startup and/or when starting navigation
-allows saving searches locally on the device instead of having to sign in
Ideally, I wanted to find a version that doesn't come with the annoying "Nearby Places" bloat. Unfortunately this requires using a version 9.xx of Maps which crashes on startup on the P40 Pro.
Get it from here:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/maps/maps-10-29-2-release/
Check my screenshots to see the UI and save search setting!
Also, because we can't create location pins without signing into an account, if the "recent search history" does not suffice, you can create navigation widget shortcuts to your favorite places.
Hope this helps.
I would rather just install microG (quick & simple) ... then install the current version of google maps.
While MicroG is a cool alternative, my idea remains to use this phone without logging into a Google account or bringing back some GMS libraries onto the phone. No app really compares to Google Maps and this version specifically behaves perfectly.
I like the concept .. and I would join you .. if the notifications were reliable with HMS-naked .. but unfortunately pretty much all notifications are unreliable (either nothing or late or random) .. hence I am on the next best thing HMS+microG .. but if Huawei can ever fix the notifications, then I will uninstall microG and join you.

Can you please give details about the Micro G process?

Summary of Options:
HMS-naked (broken/delayed notifications on heaps of apps, even Huawei App Gallery apps)
HMS+microG (simple open-source app for notifications with google firebase cloud messaging)
HMS+GMS (notifications broken)
HMS+GMS+icebox (freeze google play store as required for notifications and unfreeze intermittently for updating apps)
microG
https://microg.org/
1. Perform a factory reset of the phone (as you need to install apps after microG install).
2. Install F-Droid app (search for the apk .. F-Droid is a store with access to search for apps)
3. Add this repo into F-Droid .... https://microg.org/fdroid/repo
4. In F-Droid, then install MicroG Services Core.
5. In F-Droid, then Install MicroG Services Framework Proxy.
6. In F-Droid, then Install the MicroG FakeStore.
6. Open the Microg Settings app. Grant it all permissions and disable battery optimizations.
7. Add your Google account.
8. Turn on Device Registration, Cloud Messaging and SafetyNet.
9. Restart your phone.
10. Open Microg Settings app, check the status under Cloud Messaging. If it says not connected enter the following in the phone app: *#*#2432546#*#* and restart your phone. Check the status again - it should say Connected. (I had to enter the phone string and restart my phone twice until it said connected).
11. Install apps
12. Check connection in microG app for Google Cloud Messaging
All this will give you is push notifications with Google Cloud Messaging (including the Google Firebase messaging).
I also had notification issues caused by either Huawei PowerGenie and Android Doze .. if the notifications work and then suddenly stop after an hour or so, then try these ..

1 - Fix Google map location and navigation errorGo to Settings / Apps & services/ Apps
- Google Play Services/ Permissions/ Location : Turn on Precise location and Allow only while in use
2 - Fix Huawei automatically stopping apps when not in useHuawei has its own way to increase battery life to save battery. So sometimes it interrupts applications that need to be running all the time to get instant information, such as Gmail, Facebook, Messenger.... To fix that we need to drill down into the settings in the settings :
Go to Settings / Privacy / Permission manager and Click on the 4 dots in the upper right corner
- Select : Special access
- Select Battery optimization
- Put a check mark in the Search apps box
- Click the triangle and select : All apps
- Select the applications that you want not to be turned off when the device sleeps ( For example Gmail, Facebook, Messenger...) and check the box Don't allow and then click OK
3 - Uninstall and reinstall the app-
We are using unofficial Google services so after every test install of Google or key Google components like Google Services and Google Services Framework we have to uninstall and reinstall those Google related applications such as Gmail, Youtube, Map.......
-It is possible that after installing changes to Google Services, the Google Services Framework those applications will still run but it will not be accurate and smooth. So it is still recommended to Uninstall and Reinstall those apps.
4 - Sync Chrome with Gmail Account
-If you already have Chrome installed then uninstall it. Before uninstalling you should Go to Settings / Apps & services/ Apps/ Chrome delete its data
-Install Chrome from Play store or apk file
-After the installation is done, do not open it-Go to Settings / Apps & services/ Apps/ Chrome/ Permissions
Allow all permissions, if you don't like it, you must grant 2 basic permissions: Contacts and Media and files
- Now you open the Chrome app and it will link to your Gmail account
5 - Disable system apps that don't work for non-Chinese users
The device works very smoothly and coolly, the battery life is significantly improved.
You use the tool ADB AppControl 1.7.9 to do that. :
[TOOL] ADB AppControl 1.8.0 🚀 Ultimate App Manager & Debloat Tool + Tweaks
ADB AppControl 🚀 Root is not required. Works with any Android device. Can do almost everything you dreamed about with applications. ADB AppControl - the desktop program, that will allow you to easily manage applications on your android device...

Uber app does not work, with "Google Play services are updaging" error. Does anyone have problem with Uber app?
Hi guys, after losing 6 months plus of WhatsApp data, and trying to recover it, I've found a way to conduct automatic/manual WhatsApp backup to google drive even if u don't have native gms on my Honor Magic 3 Pro.
Specs-
Device- Honor Magic 3 Pro
OS- Magic UI 7.0, no native gms
WhatsApp - Native, original version installed from Play/ Aurora store or WhatsApp official site.
Let me be clear about it, this method uses a gms sandbox app to achieve this, but doesn't actually run WhatsApp on the sandbox app, instead just uses the sandbox app gms to do drive backup and is something I found while experimenting. It's just extremely hassle free and completely do once and forget method.
There are two methods to achieve this, Method 1 is what I personally use.
METHOD 1
Advantage - Completely hassle free, do once, configure and forget method.
Once done using this method, can be repeated with any sandbox app of your choice. However repeating in future will be difficult. And will have extra steps. And will not be able to migrate to method 2 hassle free.
Disadvantage - Some WhatsApp features are limited, like payments won't work, and adding a status update is a bit of a long shot, but viewing status is not an issue.
METHOD 2
Advantage - No above disadvantages.
Disadvantage - Need to request a WhatsApp verification code every time you want to backup.
Can only be done with gbox sandbox and not any other sandbox app.
LINKS FOR DOWNLOAD -
1. Gbox
2. WhatsApp (gbox version)
3. Google Drive (gbox version)
4. WhatsApp Original Verion (clock on package installer, not Google play.
NOW ON TO THE ACTUAL METHOD...
INITIALIZATION - common for both methods
1. Go to GboxLabs official site.
2. Download Gbox.
3. Now on the website, click on the side burger menu (three parallel lines at top right corner)
4. Go to apps availability,
5. Scroll to the bottom and download WhatsApp.
6. Download and install google drive from the same page
6. Open Gbox, and give required permissions.
7. Login to Huawei ID.
8. Minimize Gox, go to device settings and give all permissions.
9. Go to app launch in settings and change to manage manually and switch on all three options.
10. Now launch WhatsApp, the one you installed from GboxLabs
11. Minimize it and go to device settings and give all permissions, also repeat the same as gbox on App launch.
12. Open google drive gbox version, add google account and go to settings and give permissions.
METHOD 2
13. Now open WhatsApp again (gbox version).
14. Verify your mobile number.
15. Conduct restores, skip drive restore and conduct local restore
16. Now you can conduct Google backups.
17. Wait wait , that's not the end.
18. Wait for google backup to end.
19. open original WhatsApp.
20. Verify your number.
21. Done you can now have native whatsapp with google drive backup.
22. every time you want to backup, just repeat from steps 12.
METHOD 1
13. Open WhatsApp gbox version
14. Verify your number
15. Conduct restores when prompted to, skip drive restore and only do local restore.
16. Conduct g drive backup,
17. wait for backup to complete.
18. Now uninstall WhatsApp (real one)
19. ⚠ ⚠ ⚠ while uninstalling, uncheck the Delete app data option.
20. Reinstall WhatsApp from WhatsApp website.
21. Open real WhatsApp,
22. Click agree and continue, do not click enter number.
23. Click on three dots on the top right corner.
24. Click on link to existing number.
25. You will get a QR code.
26. Click a picture of the QR code with another device.
27. Open WhatsApp (gbox version)
28. Click on settings and go to linked devices.
29. Click on add device.
30. If gbox crashes, remove your device screen lock and try again (it's a bug, I've contacted gbox support, they are working to fix it.
31. try again.
32. Scan the QR code you clicked on another phone.
33. Voila done.
34. Now you can normally use native WhatsApp with all function and gbox will do the backup for you.
NOTE : METHOD 1 CAN BE USED WITH ANY SANDBOX APP OF YOUR CHOICE, AFTER COMOLETEING THE INITIALIZATION STEPS AS MENTIONED ABOVE.
FINISHING UP -
1. Disable notifications on the gbox version of WhatsApp.
BACKGROUND INFO-
Both Gbox version of WhatsApp and real WhatsApp uses the same location to store app data.
so, data is interchangeable between both apps.
SOLVINGS ISSUES-
1. ⚠ ⚠ ⚠ Do not install WhatsApp from gbox app play store.
2. Install only from Gbox labs app availability.
once done you can update from play store, no issue.
3. If there's issue with not able to link existing WhatsApp, or option not shown, uninstall WhatsApp as in method 1 above. And install from link I've connected above.
