Proximity Sensor Problem - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hello,
I had recently bought my Redmi K20 pro back in October 2020. I am having a weird but frustrating problem that during calls (even whatsapp calls), sometimes the screen remains black even if the phone is away from the ear, and it doesn't seem to wake up immediately by double tapping the screen, etc. This has made the device half-useless. Any suggestions/workarounds?
I'm running MIUI Global 12.0.3 Stable

Clear system cache on boot menu.
Do a hard boot (not reset!).
Clear Android Service cache then data if the former doesn't get it (you will lose some settings by doing so).

I don't have custom recovery installed, and on stock recovery I can see only 3 options: reboot, wipe data and contact mi customer something.
Did this issue happen to others too?

UPDATE:
I had to wipe all data (that's only option in Xiaomi's new recovery).
As of now, the proximity sensor is working as normal (no black screen freeze during calls/ whatsapp calls till now).
I'll watch over my phone and update if problem returns.
Thank you for your help

Freeze during boot up

Hi XDA community,
I need urgent help!
Problem:
My Xiaomi Mi 3 WCDMA freezes when booting up. First the "MI" logo appears, after that the "android" logo on the bottom too (the last step before the lockscreen comes up), but then nothing happens. It just remains like this as if it was freezed...
What I've done:
I disabled the host files in the app "Adaway" because I wanted to click on a commercial link. I didn't reboot at that time, although it was recommended from the app itself. Then I enabled the whole app again and rebooted eventually.
Now I've the described problem.
I still can get into CWM and bootloader and so I wiped cache and dalvik cache, but it didn't help. The last thing I want to do is to preform data/factory reset, because I have no backups at all. Neither from the internal SD card (the device only has an internal), nor from any apps (Whatsapp etc.).
Do you guys have any ideas/solutions? It's the last hope I have...
Best regards,
Prolution

Google Play after Pie

Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help me. One week ago I upgraded to Pie on my Galaxy Note9 (Verizon). Ever since, I've been having a problem updating apps in Google Play. Most of apps get stuck on Download Pending. A few go through just fine, but most don't. When I turn off my NordVPN, every update goes through without a problem. I never had this problem on Oreo, and I don't want to have to turn off VPN every time I update.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any suggestions or solutions?
Thank you.
Try clearing cache and data on the google play app or maybe loadvpn has a glitch with android pie and u could report it. Also try wiping cache on phone by going into stock recovery.

Hi. This seems to have worked. Thank you very much.
First I cleared cache in Settings > Device Care > Storage, and Memory
Then I went to Settings > Apps and cleared out cache in Google Play
I don't know about clearing cache in stock recovery, is that a better way of doing it?
Thanks again
Well if wiping data and cache helped no need to wipe cache on stock recovery. What wipe cache does is help phone perform better sometimes. But it doesnt delete anything. U could do it. All u gotta do is power off phone then hold volume up and bixby button and press power button also and it should take u to stock recovery then use volumes(up or down) to highlight wipe cache then highlight yes and wipe it them reboot and it should perform better.

Stuck on just a sec screen.

My LeEco S3 X522 has not been able to get past the just a sec screen. At first it was after unlocking the phone it would just stay on the loading android screen but i was able to get into the settings by using the notification bar at that time i was using pixel experience but not the latest (one before the latest) so i updated and still would not work so i just formatted everything completely then re installed the latest pixel experience. Now i am stuck on the just a sec screen when starting up the phone. The phone goes dim then the screen goes off yet i am still able to use the hardware nav buttons ( they dont do anything but light up and vibrate). Screen will come back on after a few mins but it just repeats it self.
Also, prior to this happening my phone was dropped and the screen cracked. It took a week or two until i fixed the screen.

Try flashing 8 august nano gapps.
Do you have a nandroid backup of Pixel experience, if yes, then you can restore it and remove all sorts of screenlocks via twrp (Google how to) . Then flash latest gapps and os zip. Clear dalvik and cache. It should work.
It did not work. Still on just a second, even with the august 10th GAPPS. I formatted everything completely. No OS etc. Then i tried to install the stock ROM by using the chinese twrp (YDDS or something like that). It has worked before but now it did not even boot into the recovery screen unless its US twrp. I flashed RR OS (Oreo) and it would just boot loop. I can't seem to find any solution. I do not see why even after formatting all data, neither ROM will load. (Have noticed on twrp it says it could not find internal storage, yet it installs the ROMS and GAPPS. Not sure what that is about but could not find anytning online.)

Try the 6 July gapps here https://github.com/opengapps/arm64/releases/tag/20190706
I think it shouldn't give rise to your issue.
Remember to flash the nano version.
It's possible your data partition is corrupt.
First wipe system, cache , dalvik cache and data.
Then repair data, format to ext2 and them reformat to ext4. Then reboot to recovery and repair data again and finally wipe it. Reboot to recovery again. Flash stock ROM first. Then flash your preferred ROM.

Question Recovery mode in Chinese

Hi all.
I've just tried to clear cache in my X3 Pro (UK/ 02) but when got to recovery mode it was all in Chinese.
I have this phone since new and bought it through 02. Is it normal that recovery is in Chinese on the phone released for European market?
Side note: how to clear cache without knowing Chinese?
Comment
On my device I can choose 3 languages, chinese, english and something else.
You don't have these choices ?

Were those choices obviously visible? As soon as I get to recovery mode I'm greeted by Chinese.
When I enter Recovery it gives me 3 language options
What software version are you running ?
Maybe the location of the options will help you to do what you want ?

Mine goes straight into what is on your first screenshot.
Would you be able to tell me which options are in what order to get to clear cache please?
My version is: CPH2173_11_C.65
I'm really surprised there's only Chinese there
In my 2nd picture you have the 1st option as wipe data, 2nd reboot device and 3rd power off

What options do you have in what order once you click on wipe data? I don't want to factory reset by an accident...
When I got the phone and updated, I remember it directly wiped all data with a confirmation message
There are no other options when I click wipe data (no clear cache or separate wipe data from cache)

That's a shame. I'll get on clearing cache of apps separately then. Better than nothing.
Thanks for your help.

Not sure but many people here tried this list and I think none of them reported any bootloop so far. You may tried to remove something else.
So for now, can you get into the recovery menu with holding both Power button + Volume up? I saw a menu called Package Installer, did you try that? And how about the menu called "System Verification" as well? If nothing works, then you may need to factory reset everything.

Yes, I can log in, here is the screen
Inside "CLEAR DATA" i can clear cache and CLEAR ALL DATA
Inside "Install System Software" It connects to the wifi network and looks for new updates, telling me that the recent one is already installed and nothing else
Inside "calibration System" it tells me that it is verifying the integrity and that the integrity check of the system files was successful
Inside "Enter Safe Mode" It restarts and returns to the previous bootloop, as in the "normal" boot, but here it continues to vibrate at each reboot (Loop)
Nothing else ... I didn't do anything else, just deleted and debloated from that list, nothing more
Update: Used clear all data and hard reset phone.. Now work

Yeah as I said, the last option is to do factory reset your phone if you don't have anything important on your phone now. Not sure if you did something wrong with the list, just remember don't remove the vivo home launcher without installing at least one 3rd party launcher. If not then you will get into bootloop again.

Hi bmw320cd,
If you are still factory reset state, can you upload your battery stats (with details/system)
Mine, after small debloat takes 16% (Android system) + 7% (Android OS).
Thanks!
