Hi,
I was trying to setup Samsung Pay on OneUI 3.0 Beta 2. It didn't work...there was no error, the app just hangs with a spinning icon on the screen, where I can choose between PIN and fingerprint.
So I restored to OneUI 2.5 (december patch).
SPay does the same thing, still no error.
My Knox is tripped, it's 0x1, but my bootloader is locked again and my phone is unrooted.
Is that the reason?
Samsung Pass gives me an error, that my phone is rooted, but SPay not.
Any workaround for this?
From what I understand, once you unlock the bootloader or root, it breaks stuff. One of the things it breaks is Samsung pay.

I just pre-ordered my ATT S6 and I've got a few questions! I've been spoiled by my Nexus 4/5 when it comes to "openness" so all this Knox business is new to me.
I'm curious what I'm missing out on if I buy the ATT variant or try and get a T-Mobile phone unlocked. I've done enough reading to know that flashing a custom recovery will trip Knox, so I don't want to do that. If I have the Tmobile ver with a clean Knox, can I still install TW roms with Odin? Or do those require a custom recovery as well?
I'm really trying to decide if I should cancel my ATT pre order and try and get a TMobile model instead... but if the TMobile version won't gain me anything (I want to use Samsung Pay) I might as well stick with what I've got..
Well first off the ATT version will likely ship bootloader locked, which in this case you won't be doing anything custom to the phone that could trip knox...locked BL you won't be able to root (till an exploit is found, the current root depends on an unlocked BL and it will trip Knox)..As for TMO it is likely to be unlocked so you can root it, the current method will trip knox, flashing custom recovery will also trip it, and likely you can't reset that counter once its tripped, also if you flash anything in Odin that isnt official Samsung i believe you will trip knox as well (i believe theres a built in consistency/signature check for this) i could be wrong though as its been a while since I flashed anything on Samsung through Odin, I tripped my tmo s5 day one as I didnt care about the knox features.
AT&T = death to development
Does anyone know if tripping Knox will not allow samsung pay to work?.... That's one of the many features I was looking forward to....

Most likely, nobody is going to know until Pay comes out, so figure August or so.
Damn, that's a long time to wait without rooting... Might just hold on to my note 4 for a bit then.... ?
Hi everyone. I'm new to the S6, so sorry if this is considered to be common knowledge over here
I'm currently on software version COF6, and I'm considering doing the engineering bootloader root method. I don't mind not having my fingerprint scanner, so it should be ok.
My dilemma is this: Samsung is offering $50 for registering a card on Samsung Pay, and I'm assuming Samsung Pay doesn't work when the device is rooted. (or am I wrong?) I know tripping knox makes Samsung pay stop working.
Is there a software version I can update to in order to have Samsung pay, register my card to get the $50, and then root the device? I don't know if the engineering bootloader is incompatible with the newer software releases, so could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks so much-- I appreciate it!
Unfortunately not. Samsung pay I believe makes you update to the latest firmware for it to work.
Anyways DOH6 is the newest firmware that can accept the eng boot loader and still be flashed back to stock w/out tripping Knox.
I bought my phone used and found out later that the Knox is tripped so I cant OTA update. Its G920AUCU3BOJ9 5.1.1. I'd like to get a custom ROM and I don't care about Knox\Samsung Pay or anything related to that. I don't know what my options are. Can someone tell me what ROM I can use or if I can root it? Ive looked and searched other threads for a while and there is always a gotcha that doesn't fit my constraints of knox tripped or the version im on or the g920a boot loader locked.
Closed at OP request.
I have an unlocked SM-N9600. Is there a one step method (like an app you install, and it roots the phone without a computer) available?
No there isnt since rooting requires bootloader unlock and unlocking the bootloader will permanently disable Knox forever which means Samsung pass, Samsung pay and secret folder will be disabled since they require working Knox chip to function and even encryption might be disabled aswell
Hey guys,
so I tried to root my S10+ which did not work out. I never got past unlocking my bootloader. Now I flashed an original Samsung Stock Firmware and I relocked the bootlader. But now when I tried to use Samsung Pass for instance it told me, that I couldn't use it since my device was rooted, which it wasn't and isn't.
Do you guys know a way around this or am I doomed?
Regards

You need to check knox in download mode. Anything other than 0x0 will break Samsung pay, secure folder, and Samsung pass. Nothing you can do if you tripped knox.
After doing OEM unlock in developer options, did you confirm in the menu right before entering download mode?
