Have no clue if this should be posted to accessories or general questions.
So the other day I received the game pad 3. I put it on my phone and it wanted to update firmwear. It kept failing. Contacting ASUS , they told me to reset apps. I couldn't find that option so I did a factory reset.
I no longer get the option to update firmwear. However, in settings it's listed as ROG kunai gamepad 2.
Is this normal or is my device or game pad defective?

Hi guys, I am buying the gear, and although I do not have the note 3, just the S4, I don't care, the update is coming soon and loving gadgets, I just couldn't resist.
- Having the s4, will gear manager be available to install ? (although probably not working correctly ) I read people use it with s4 with limited functionality and was wondering how.
- I read about side loading. Will I need a proper phone for that, or will it still be possible using APK leecher directly ?
- Lastly, I guess I should root it if I expect to use any of these options...?

Hi,
- Gear manager has been updated few times "once a week" recently... so give it a try - I am on NOTE3 so I am not sure but read the threads here..
- for side-loading etc - is is all written here - get wondershare mobile go for android (free version works for 15 days...) and read the thread "Tutorial - Rooting/Nova/ATN..."
- for the third point - to side load etc - read point two tutorial..
I rooted my S4 and put an Android 4.3 ROM in. Download Gear Manager and it was working.
Note: Gear Manager won't work without Android 4.3

Gear works approximatively with a S4 under 4.2
Gear Works perfectly with a S4 with 4.3 firmware (no root needed, just update via Kies if proposed, or via Odin)
To install APK, use wondershare. It s easy to do
Root is very easy to do and the gear continue to work correctly. It will help you to proceed at some modifications where a rooted watch is needed.
I have the Gear up and running also on my Note 2. It is running smoothly. I haven't rooted yet. Not to good with adb yet but I have been thinking about it

received gear, issue I am having for now...
I received my gear. Issue is that since I am in Canada (fido), I downloaded gear manager but it says that it is unable to use this software since the phone (S4 ) is not yet supported.(expected that)
So I am stuck at the NFC connecting screen and don't seem to find a way to get around it ?(didn't expect that though ..lol)
So is there another way to go about it for now ?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try an older version of gear manager (check link in my sig)
Yeah you need a older version. I had the same problem as you with my s4. But I had a 1 hour drive back from best buy when I got my watch and found the older one during my trip.
I have the apk but I don't know how to upload it on here.
Xda says I don't have sufficient access to upload files for some reason. Maybe I can email it to whoever needs it. Pm me with your email and I'll send it to you.
I also have a working watch styler apk I can send you as well. The one in the Samsung app store wouldn't work for me either.

UPDATE : Rooted the phone, all is good. Tried to install ATN but after I do, there is no option under security settings to enable ATN notifications. Notification access section does not exist at all in my security section ? What gives ?
UPDATE 2: Realized that probably gear is not rooted. I followed all steps fine but when I reboot and open explorer, it never asks me to grant access to everything. When going to data, it says it is restricted...

You need android 4.3 for the notification access.
How To Charge Galaxy Gear with Cradle ?
Hi,
Probably not the right forum but i have a question though -
I bought Samsung Galaxy Gear watch from Best Buy ( Online) and all i got in the box is just the watch - no cradle, no usb cable - how am i suppose to charge the watch ? is cradle and usb cable is anywhere available which i can buy ??

Cradle and power adapter should have been in the box. Suggest you return it

Call them quickly, report the problem, and quickly return it..If this is not done, they might try to say the cradle and the power are missing and might not give you a full refund. Report it quickly..

Thanks Guys, after fighting with bestbuy for over an hour, they have agreed to replace the box and shipover a new one with all accessories in place. it was a fault on their end.

New here, and looking for some help from you all please.
I am in Ireland and bought the Note 5 N9200 it is Dual sim. I noticed that the Gear manager App is now pre installed as a system App and can not be removed.
My Gear s connects up no problem - on first connect it updated with no issue. Everything works fine, calls and notifications come through all normal. the only issue I now face is when I move out of Bluetooth range and wait for the remote connection to kick in , I get an error message " Failed to enable remote connection" and it tells me to connect via Bluetooth.
I did a factory reset on the phone and gear s , made no difference. I then tested the gear S with a friends galaxy S5 and it remote connected first time. My gear s also remote connected with my S6 with no issues.
I would really like to get this working with the Note 5 , soooo anyone out there have any ideas or fixes for this ??

I have had no Other issues So far everything Is working great.
As per first post the only IssueI have found is with the remote Connection for my gear S.

Perhaps , some others with other versions of the Note 5 , could check and confirm if the Samsung gear app is now a system app ( or is this just the case for SM-N9200 )
Or even if anyone else has other versions of the note 5 that have connected with the gear s with no issue ?

Seems like a hardware issue. I got the S6 innovator edition and its working fine.

I thought it was hardware but I've uninstalled the latest gr vr service updates and it been perfect ever since.
I do get the message to update but I just launch an app from the store then go back into oculus home.
so anyone having note 4 touchpad issues try uninstalling the updates.

This is really weird as "comfort mode" was removed several patches back. What is the version of your Oculus Home? (open Oculus Store app and click on the Options symbol on the bottom of the left side menu). Can you download new apps from the store?
My version is 1.1.0 I've just checked again and comfort mode is fine again it was there yesterday as u was explaining it to family strange
Yes can download fine from the store but it just says please install gear ve updates when I connect next my phone but I'm sure it stop the touch pad from working properly

But I've noticed few bugs :
1. When i navigate to notifications - more notification settings... I find nothing
2. Tried factory reset and i took app backup then restored them.. Most of them didn't work and i had to re-install them... But for swiftkey.. I even didn't find it in the app drawer
3. Tried to use the wireless projection with my LG Smart TV but it's not working
I'm currently on 122 firmware

I have miracast and works fine with other devices
The casting to a smart tv isn't wildly hot, at least not wireless. I tried try several times the other day, with no luck. Eventually I gave up. The day after I tried again and it worked right away.
As for your number 1, I have one setting in that picture. Not much.
I have no problem with Chromecast. Btw LGs are terrible in supporting connections of all kinds

I already contacted the seller, he wrote me he will send a video, but nothing received til now, and no answer anymore since then.
i am new in this android thing and do not have much experience in android, so i am asking me if it is possible to do a up or downgrade from the software in order to get back the factory setting.
I activated the extended screen option and since then the touchscreen isn't working anymore.
Do someone have firmware or the app update in order to reset all settings?

most android devices support usb-input,
so for example just connect a mouse and keyboard, and you should be fine
just tested it with mij own wireless mouse/keyboard ( microsoft) and it works fine on my seican h221L

I was able to disable the secondary screen option with a keyboard, now it's all ok again.
