Hello,
I wonder if it's possible to convert Thailand variant of S20 FE 5G (SM-G781B) to Hong Kong version (SM-G7810). Both has the same Snapdragon 865 chipset and X55 modem. The reason is that I have to study in Japan for three years and I need LTE B18 during my stay, which is not offered on SM-G781B. I had tried Odin method but it said that Secure Check Fail. I already unlock the bootloader and tried again, but still no luck. What I have to do?
Thanks

Somewhere else I read you need patched Odin, so it does not check FW variants.

I'm sorry, but what does "patched Odin" mean? Is it a particular version? Do you know where I can download it? I have version 3.14. Thanks.

Something like this:
Patched Odin 3.13.1
For those looking for a modified, modded, or patched odin that is a newer build than all the fake and renamed prince comsy 3.12.3 versions floating around. I patch recent Odin versions to offer similar functionality to the princecomsy; in that...

Nope: it's a different model (hence -N- instead of -F-)
Why didn't you buy the SM-N950F ?

i bought it from South Korea, the 256Gb unlocked version. Now just trying to debrand it.
If you're worried about bloat, I'd suggest BK Disabler from the PlayStore or if you are more comfortable, ADB.
Alternately, I am inclined to agree with @henklbr; a F branded Note would give you root and less bloat.
Not sure where you guys got that idea, it is quite possible to flash different firmware between similar models. You can indeed flash different CSC as well, assuming it is ported for the new phone so that the flash doesn't mess up any partiotions.
Please don't spread misinformation just because you don't know how things work or how to do something.

i'm in a similar boat. I bought the N950N Korean variant 256gb model but i live in australia and they werent selling that variant here. I want to flash the N950F (australian non carrier firmware). its downloading now but not sure if it will work, i will report back here. I dont have positive hopes though since that rom is for 64gb models im not sure if it will mess the partitions for my 256gb model. it will be interesting to know if anyone has been successful before

Odin won't let you flash it but you can use Odin to flash TWRP, and then use TWRP to flash a zip of a 950F ROM.

Hey 5G Pioneers,
I am wondering can I flash the sm-g 977b firmware onto the sm-g 977n device through the Odin? Did someone make it?
Since these two models are all using the same Exynos 9820 chips
And from my previous experience of using my galaxy s8, Samsung actually enabled me to flash the firmware in different regions only if the devices were using the same chip version.
I am currently in Australia. The Korean version of 977N is much cheaper, and it seems that is the only network unlock version that I could buy from the market.
Not sure where are you in Australia but I bought mine from a Telstra Sales Rep (based in CBD, Melbourne) where he got a discount code and gave its to me for AUD 1400 for the 512 GB Majestic Black Version, unlocked , I'm using Optus, VoLTE, VoWIFI works fine on it.

Hi everybody,
On Sammobile website, I found 4 firmware Korean variants. I tried getting more information on the "KOO" variant to see if its a stock Samsung firmware without Carrier Apps/Bloatware without luck. I couldn't get any detailed information whether it can be flashed over any other Korean variant. Can anyone here clarify if its possible and If yes provide further details?
Attached a snapshot.
Many thanks

That is the non bloatware Korean version but it doesn't allow me to flash it. I suspect you have to flash it with the userdata file also.
Thanks for the information,
I have a new phone so No issues with user data. How do I flash the firmware.

Hi,
I have successfully flashed the "KOO" variant once with and a second time without "userdata", however that did NOT remove any of the Bloatware/Carrier Apps.
Any thoughts?

Hi,
I did disable the apps which is great, but there menu operator items as well!
Edit : Forgot to mention that the boot logo is of the operator as well.
I was researching something about using the PIT file along with the firmware but can't find the specific PIT file for S10 5g.
Use Odin or the modified version to flash combination firmware. Then flash your desired firmware.
This is the only way I am aware to remove all carrier bloatware and boot logos.

I am particularly interested in this as the 977N variant seems to be dual sim. I notice it also has additional bands to the 977B varient and I would like to put the telstra firmware to ensure operation of VoLTE VoWiFi RCS etc.
The main purpose is to use at home and overseas. So more bands and access to features (VoLTE, VoWiFI, RCS etc. on my telstra SIM and local overseas SIM) when overseas are the goal.
Unless someone can confirm that the 977N with vanilla firmware will support all the telstra features?
Thank you for your assistance
The specs for both models are same including CPU but 960F (Asia) support DUAL sim whereas Korea only SINGLE sim.
If I odin 960F to my Korea model phone, will it still work? or probably freeze on E.g. Settings when I click Sim 2?
How about the Samsung Pay?
If firmware 960F can work, can I use Samsung Pay in Asia? or they are some in-built mechanism E.g. Knox that will prevent this?
Same question. I have a SCV38 - Japanese KDI/AU Galaxy S9. I have only Android 9, but there are a bunch of US Snapdragon Galaxy S9 based on Android 10. Can I flash this (US firm on JP phone)? I just want to get to Android 10. I have a feeling that wont work, and I checked for the S8 - US and JP phones, altough based on QC chipset had other hardware differences...
Anyway, appreciate any advice on the matter.

As long as the specs are the same you can flash any region rom. You will just have to try it yourself and see if both sims work. Google pay shouldn't have any problems. The only problem you might have is some roms have different baseband files so you might not get network connection if it's not right for your region.

Make sure in download mode you don't have RMM prenormal if you flash Android 10 and it's prenormal you will never be able to get rid of it.

I'm moving to the US soon and want to use my G781B/DS over there. It looks like the US version supports a lot more bands for both 4G and 5G, so is it possible to convert?
I tried flashing the G781U1 files via Odin but I get a Secure Check Fail: PIT error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey @fragpic, did you manage to do the conversion?
Has anyone flashed the US firmware on a bootloader unlocked SD variant of the phone (ie 998U1 firmware on a 998N or 9980)? If so, did you have to change the CSC to XAA before or after you flashed the firmware?
Can't be done on either device. 998N has the Exynos SoC. 9980 can only be flashed with CHC - China, BRI - Taiwan and TGY - Hong Kong.
How about flashing SM-998B to a 998U1 phone? Both snapdragon.
I wound up going with the s20 ultra instead for sdcard support. There is no reason to worry about flashing the US firmware on a Korean or Chinese Samsung. I have the KOO firmware, have 0 bloat, and everything works 100% in the US, including 5g on Verizon and Tmobile.

i dig it up .... have question regarding changing rom 998N to 998B both Exynos? I found somebody make it with s10 https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-only-no-need-of-paid-apps-boxes-etc.4481487/
maybe somebody would make same AP for s21ultra 998n and it will work to change it to dual sim?
I also saw this post a week ago but the limitation is that was a modified rom he flashed to convert the model.
For SM-G998N, i couldn't even find combination rom so forget about getting a modified rom to convert that.
