Hi all.
I've just bought this device. When I first launched it, it was on miui9, i updated to miui 10 stable 10.0.3.0 (8.1 Android) via ota. Then, I saw that I could also upgrade to miui 11. However, I've read that battery is worse than Miui 10 so I don't know If I should install it.
I've unlocked the recovery because I want to try some custom roms but I'm a bit scared of the anti-rollback.
Could you please tell me what should I do?
Thanks all.
Before you do anything you need to figure out which device you own. You bought it and you already unlocked the bootloader? That generally takes 360 hours, are you sure it wasn't already unlocked? If it was unlocked you probably have a Chinese device, and in that case be extremely careful about not relocking the bootloader. if the phone is not bound to your account ( linked to you personally) then you could brick it and have no recourse.
if you unlocked it yourself and you have a locked device , then don't worry about anti-rollback. So far it has not been implemented. Next, you heard wrong about Miui 11, its battery is equally as good. Although the best version of Miui and currently the most stable Android 10 overall is Xiaomi.EU which is a custom rom based on the china beta but globalised, with Google services.
Again do your homework, avoid extremely old posts that are no longer relevant. Never attempting upgrading your screen refresh and never flash someone else's persist image and you will be good. This community has tons of infor...read a lot and take your own notes.

Hi Thanks for your reply.
My device is global version (not just global ROM, I do know the difference)
I am unlocked the bootloader using the Xiaomi official tool, i had to activate the developer tools on the device and check the bootloader status and the button which was there ( U know what I mean). Besides, when I turn on the device it says unlocked.
I've read that miui 11 has kinda bad sot because of miui and/or the bug with WhatsApp. So I don't know if I have to update via ota and If I do that I don't know if I will have any problems while trying to install a custom ROM.
I've had a Xiaomi before so I know that I shouldn't install strange zips.
Thank you

Yes, the last build of Xiaomi.EU had worse SOT than usual ( about 5 hours. However, the issue was only with one of the weekly builds) I personally resolved that issue for myself by flashing the kernel from the previous build. Also, Xiaomi.EU is updated every Thursday so later today there will be a new build that will very likely resolve the issue. On the other hand the stable builds do not have an issue with SOT. At least not in my experience. I have averaged around 8 to 9 hours SOT.
I don't use Whatsapp, so I can't help you with that.
Since you were previously on stock you will need to backup your data, if you are still using stock, backup to MiCloud as well. This way if you use a Miui based rom you can quickly restored most of your data and partial settings. You will also need to format use storage (type yes, reboot to recovery)

I see.
I've just updated to miui 11 stable via ota.
BTW, Is TWRP the best recovery for this device isn't it? I've read that exist other types of recovery (not CWM but someones).
And my last question, I cannot find which version of gcam fits on miui 11 (Android Pie). Is there any thread, telegram channel?
Thanks for all.

Personally I use the TWRP that I posted here : I talked to a few friends / android developers on other devices and several of them believe that this a TWRP issue.
I have not had any more of these issues since using this TWRP https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80952013&postcount=121
If using AOSP, you should use the official version.
The best Gcam ( I Think is by Sanity )
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-san1ty/
FYI the builds made for the Poco F1 and Razer 2 are also compatible.

Thank for helping me.
As I've posted in the official twrp thread, I was able to install twrp and get to it but after power off the phone and try to get there again miui recovery was there instead.
I've installed the last build of twrp 3.3.1.1.
Maybe If I install magisk via TWRP I will have twrp *forever*.(?)
Thank you man

No problem.
After installing TWRP, you must initially install Root and then reboot to recovery.
Often you will see a message asking if you want to install the TWRP manager, click those boxes and then proceed to rebooting to recovery.
If you are using the full stock Rom, you must have root, so anytime that you flash the official Global stable rom, or an update, flash root again...unless you see via the Recovery terminal that Root maintained it's persistence.

Hi.
I have a Moto X 2014 and I usually download the ROMs from here without a problem. I was able to install all Android 9.0 Pie ROMs, but no Android 10 ROM for Moto X 2014 worked.
It even goes through TWRP without giving an error, but when it goes to install it gets stuck in the ROM logo and does not come out of it. Stay in the eternal loop. If anyone can help me, please.

I had some similar problems ...
do a clean install and preferably for the BitGapps package!
follow the developers' instructions ...
Unfortunately it does not install even following the instructions. See what I've tried:
- Erase the memory
- File system change
- Restart recovery
I'm getting sad to think that I won't be able to install a ROM with Android 10 on my Moto X 2014. If you have any suggestions I'm willing to listen to you, Punk77.
Hello
which ROM are you trying to install?
I got CrDroid, Havoc, AOSP here and I'm currently using Arrow !!!
only Arrow works with Open gapps the others only with bitgapps ...
what file system is used and what version of TWRP?
Hi, again punk-77.
I've tried to install all Android 10 ROMs. I've been instructed to use the ext4 file system but it didn't work. I use the most current version of TWRP which is 3.3.1-0 Victara. I returned in ROM Stock but still not installing the ROMs Android 10 is in loop.

use f2fs for /data, ext4 for system...
I am currently using the Arrow ROM, I did a clean flash and the zips in the following sequence:
1 - ROM
2 - Open Gapps (pico)
3 - Magisk
CrDroid ROM
1 - ROM
2 - Magisk
3 - BitGapps
AOSP ROM
1 - ROM
2 - Magisk
3 - BitGapps
HAVOC ROM
1 - ROM
2 - BitGapps
3 - Magisk
“Data”???
There is no partition with that name.
Could you please let me know which file system would be ideal for each partition please.
For example, from what you told me the system is ext4.
wipe - advanced wipe - click on data
changes in the same way as with the system ...
https://youtu.be/nlkVeYhKEIU
Yes! Sorry. I got confused in the translation.
I changed Data to f2fs and System to ext4 and it still doesn't work.
Unfortunately. I don't know what to do anymore except to be sad. :crying:

of all available ROMs the only one that I managed to install without fail on the first attempt was Arrow !!!
something I noticed here, was that if I leave the phone connected to the PC, it gets stuck on the startup screen.
try this way with the Arrow ROM:
1- clear all data, system, chache ...
2- pass the ROM, Gapps ... to the cell phone
3 - disconnect the phone from the PC ...
4 - install ROM -Gapps - Magisk (optional) ...
Edit: Bitgapps also works with the Arrow ROM ...
however, you are unable to restore backups saved to Google Drive.
I did as directed. Only ROMs with Android Pie and below complete the installation.
It's sad because maybe only one developer knows why this happens... :crying:
Thank you so much for trying to help me!

unfortunately I don't know how to help anymore ...
now we can only try the support of the developers for a solution !!!
Edit: Foi lançada atualizações das ROMs...
I just tested it and it still doesn't work.
It remains in an infinite loop...
Frustrated. Very, very, very frustrated!
For me it was also stayed bootlogo on aosp 10.0, came from stock rom. then with flash drive via otg cable installed aosp 8.0 (i was bootloped). Phone survived, but 2 times i have no success in install Android 10, tried clean flash and all etc necessary
Hi, gioyocho how are you?
Did you manage to install any Android 10 ROM on your Moto X 2014? Sorry is that for me it was not clear in the translation.
(My original language is Portuguese BR).

only tried 10.0 aosp, but 8.0 aosp is stable for me
I understand. Thanks for commenting.
I think I tested all the Android 10 ROMs that were posted on the XDA for the Moto X 2014. None worked on my device even following all the instructions that were given to me.
Arrow
just now, successfuly installed Arrow 10.0.0 Vanilla rom. but it has battery problems as i guess, as all custom roms. only 6.0 stock works good without battery issues
Will this work with TWRP 3.2.1 or do I need to update?

I wouldn't try that, remember Xiaomi has Anti-Rollback Protection (ARP), which prevents for security reasons to rollback to a previous MIUI version. When protection gets triggered a hardbrick may occur, or luckily just soft-boot.
About ARP: https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-anti-rollback-protection-brick-phone/
However, I'm not sure which model of RN9 do you have, but if you're running Global version, it's ROM was recently updated to 12.0.3 and shows as "Stable". I would consider a much better option, trying to update to that one, specially if you haven't root your phone or installed a custom recovery.
Here's the link for it https://bigota.d.miui.com/V12.0.3.0.QJOMIXM/miui_MERLINGlobal_V12.0.3.0.QJOMIXM_0ec44a5b7d_10.0.zip
If you notice from the entry dealing with RN9 firmware on this page https://www.xda-developers.com/down...ing-out-several-xiaomi-redmi-mi-poco-devices/ the version you've installed has been rolled back (perhaps because of the problems you've been having) in favour of V12.0.3.0.QJOMIXM, mentioned by @ma259 above

It can be done very easily.
Unlock bootloader, go to fastboot mode.
type
fastboot reboot fastboot.
Your phone should boot into fastbootd mode.
After that,
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase vendor
Then you can normally flash MIUI 11 with Mi Flash in fastboot mode.
Make sure you install these drivers. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JFYCZ3mu_Y_xpnS7QrmtwqOeFnWg6DO2/view
Other way around without unlocking bootloader, turn off phone, install the drivers above and connect your device to your PC.
Use sp flash tool to flash MIUI 11.
The MiFlash method is safer, SP flash method is faster.

Hi guys, I couldn't find a full guide here. Mostly scrambled. Can anyone Please dm me or write here , a full step guide to shift to eu rom.
Currently I am on the latest global rom V11.0.2.0.QCNMIXM : MIUI 11 : Android 10 .
Previous xiaomi device I owned gave me a headache whenever there was an issue of bootlooping etc that comes with flashing i.e. it was difficult to get back. What's the situation here.
Basically I want to shift to eu rom with magisk etc.
Please suggest most stable kernel, recovery etc and procedure. Appreciate any help , links will be helpful. Thanks a ton. :fingers-crossed:
Do you mean a stock EEA rom or the xiaomi.eu custom rom?

I mean the Xiaomi.eu custom rom.
1. Unlock Bootloader
2. Install TWRP
3. Format Data partition with twrp
4. Copy rom to internal storage
5. Flash it via TWRP
DONE.

Yes, Finally Done. Just booted up. Will let you know what all is working etc.
I unlocked bootloader.
Flashed TWRP, using xiaomi adbtool ,
in twrp formatted everything , but not vendor.
Flashed xiaomi eu rom , then again formatter cache and dalvik cahche, and then formatted data ,.
If you don't format data then the device will keep rebooting to twrp.

Yep, I'd install EU ROM, but didn't like it, many bugs in addition to the ones already in stock MIUI, actually using Havoc OS GSI 3.8, recommended for a less bloated experience and awesome tweaks for this device

Which version did you try?
11.0.8.0 was buggy for me but 11.0.11.0 is really smooth, only issue I have with it is that gestures won't trigger the PUP player so I'm stuck with on-screen buttons. Haven't tried their 11.0.1.0 build because TWRP still can't decrypt Android 10 but I've used it on stock and it was still pretty buggy.
Hopefully Xiaomi will patch it and not just release another broken Android 10 build, this time with MIUI 12.

I am using 11.0.10 , I am not going to use twrp to flash anything anymore so... Doesn't matter to me about it.
But I am finding this to be better than stock miui. Feels a bit more smooth , everything seems to be working just fine.

11.0.1.0 with android 10
Hey guys,
So, I've got a Redmi Note 9, not that I'm not happy with the stock firmware but the reason I got this phone was so I could play around a bit with other ROMs (had a replacement iPhone X and was just bored with it).
So, I'm not exactly new in Android world, all my previous phones were HTC, Samsung, Nexus, and all rooted and running custom roms.
Just so I don't feck up the process, can someone guide me to the process? I'm guessing I need to root it first, then install the custom recovery and go on from there?
Any specific advice ?
Thank you so much in advance.
Just flash the pathed vbmeta.img together the magisk patched boot.img and your device will be rooted.
I assume it's fine that in on miui 12 official & stable ?
Everything is working perfectly on miui 12 android 10 and miui 12 android 11.
Thanks, I'm going to start digging tomorrow.
