Hi,
OK, so currently, I am running the MIUI 8.2 by xiaomi.eu 6.12.29.
However, this is UNOFFICIAL with no OTA etc. At the time, it was better than using the unofficial ROM that came with the phone (I'm not sure what that's called) and better than the official Chinese one.
But, I can now see that there is an OFFICIAL MIUI 8.2 GLOBAL for the Mix.
I want a phone that is unrooted, everything is vanilla (so that my banking apps work), has Google Apps and with OTA updates (I guess it's best for security). Also, the Euro ROM doesn't have working NFC payments (I can't get mine to work anyway).
Is my best bet now to move to the OFFICIAL GLOBAL ROM?
Thanks.

That's the really good question regarding the MIUI versions.
Maybe someone can explain (in noob version) the differences between the ROM versions. I came from Samsung two months ago and I am really confused, becasue the number of versions and their numbering.
I understand there are few types of ROM available with MIUI 8:
- MIUI Global Stable 8.x.x
- MIUI Global Beta 7.x.x (why the beta version has lower version number than stable one???)
- MIUI China Stable 8.x.x (what is the difference of Global vs. China?)
- MIUI Developers ROM 7.x.x (why it is 7.x.x not 8.x.x if it is MIUI 8???)
- MIUI Developers ROM 6.x.x (why it is 6.x.x not 8.x.x if it is MIUI 8???)
- other versions (please add if so)
Are they all version supported by MIUI team (official one) or maybe there are some developed by other teams? Which ones?
Thanks in advance for the explanation of this mess...
Regards!

Hello. I´ll try to explain.
There is no Global for now. So no need to explain.
The difference between 7.x.x and 6.x.x means that 7 ( Year 2017) and 6 (Year 2016) and it´s MIUI 8 . China Stable and China Developer are Official MIUI.
hello i need help i become today my xiaomi mi 8 with Global Stable rom and i like to install the Global beta rom via recovery thanks for help it comes.
couldn't verify. looks like current android version is different from that in the recovery package. Try flashing your device in the Fastboot mode.

You cannot go from STABLE to BETA without unlocking the bootloader, and you especially cannot do it from the updater. It must be flashed. I'm going to assume that you are trying to "update" to the new version with Android Pie. The Mi Mix 2S just a day or two ago received stable MIUI 10 with 9.0. Be patient and wait for the update for us as it should be arriving soon. Beta versions were intended for developers and for testing purposes and may have bugs. It really is not worth the trouble of unlocking the bootloader and jumping to a test version for a newer version of Android even more so when a "stable" version is just around the corner. Most things will remain unchanged from MIUI 10 based on 8.1.0 to MIUI 10 based on 9.0. People have been bricking their devices due to little experience with Xiaomi smartphones, and it would be terrible to see another one join the list.
How long we wait?
I've got a global mi 8
It's mid march, latest update is 8.1 Oreo Android with 9.6.6
I keep searching for updates and shows none
Also security patch is July ...

It's global stable rim
Android 8.1
Miui 9.6.6
Model m1803e1a
Bought on eBay all works fine just can't upgrade
If I download a zip file and try to install under system update - choose file it says the this rom isnt valid for carrier type or something like this.

Sorry for the late reply. I believe it may possibly have a vendor ROM. Your phone should have updated over a month ago to MIUI 10. At this point I believe the only solution would be to unlock the bootloader in order to flash the latest version. Unfortunately this takes about 30 days after the unlock is requested.
That's the 3UK version of global.
No updates as of yet, either be patient or unlock bootloader and flash global stable of Pie.
Yes. And to be honest, DO NOT rush for 9.0. There is severe battery drain on 10.2.2.0 and 10.2.3.0. I used to get 6+ hours of SOT (screen on time), on 10.2.2.0 I would get about 5hrs, on the latest 10.2.3.0 I get 4 hours. Others have complained about the same. In my opinion, the added features aren't worth the battery life lost.

We have 3 Mi8's in our house
Personally I am using the Mi-Globe version " globeROM_v10_dipper_9.3.21_cfg" it is fantastic! It has all of the features such as dark mode, AOD options, face unlock, charging animations, the best themes from all over the world and zero ads.
On the other 2 phones we have the official 10.2.3. While its not as good as 9.3.21 the battery life is still about 8 hours SOT.
I have Global rom, PFGMIXM. My last update for this rom was before almost two months.. security patch is from April..
For all this time, India ROM got three updates, include dark mode too.
Both roms are stable.
So why is so big difference between this two roms??

What's the problem?
Manufacturers have to release security patches atleast once every 3 months.
Do you have a problem with having a more secure device?
I think u misunderstand.
I may not be sure but I think he is saying he has the global version which is back 2 months in updates while the indian versions seem to be updated monthly.
I think that's what he is asking about, why does the global get less updates than the indian variant

It's possibile that global needs more testing.
India is an experimental market for Chinese phones before going global, that's why.
hey !! just got my mi 11 and love it ,i change my s21 ultra for it.
better screen and very much more smooth then the galaxy (my opinion)
my question is i saw thers a new firmware for global 12.5.3 but i still got the 12.5.1 why i didnt got the update ?
im from israel and got the global version. does it takes times to get the firmware ?
thx !!!
There is a Chinese version upgrade, but I think global is still 12.5.1.
go here:
[Firmware] Xiaomi Mi 11 [venus] [Auto updated!]
Xiaomi custom users face a problem with firmware updates. As there are many devices with no one to provide the newest firmware update every single release, and developers who provide updates to devices may forget or be busy sometimes, so releases...
forum.xda-developers.com
and update it yourself
the eu version is still on 12.5.1.0
welcome to xiaomi where a new device gets updates every now and than or maybe never
Whats in the new update that makes you want it?
I remember the good time with my pixel3, every begining of the month i had an uptade.

well you can have that experience (frequent updates) on your xiaomi by switching to xiaomi.eu weekly ROM
but surely not all of those monthly pixel updates were good? some of them had to have had annoying bugs which made the whole experience somewhat sour
stock phone hardware and software is so good now (for the most part) that there really is no need to update them so often (excluding the security patches)
just enjoy the phone as is - Mi 11 is blazing fast + feature rich and, at least I, find no need to have it updated regularly (especially after MIUI 12.5. update released recently)
the only feature I wish for on my Mi 11 is the option to choose 90Hz refresh rate in settings (without having to download 3rd party apps to do so)
120Hz is kinda overkill and just drains the battery much faster - 90Hz would be a happy medium between 60 and 120Hz on offer in MIUI
12.5.2 is out.

What is your Build Code ? 12.5.1.0.RKBEUXM ? or 12.5.1.0.RKBMIXM
If you have EUXM it's a EEE/EEA (European Version) and it's actually the lastest build.
If you have MIXM it's a Global (International Version) and actually 12.5.3.0 is the lastest build.
So depending yourRegion Code, you can download the Fastboot ROM and install local update easily.
My Mi 11 Claud White was EUSF (because an EU custom by my carrier) and i have unblock Bootloader (waiting 168 Hours - [1 week]) and migrate on MIXM Glabal International for have more recent update.
I have tried also Xiaomi.eu ROMS (Chinese ROMS custom / Translated) but thez have a lot of bugs (MMS don't work, Black Theme issues, Theme Manager in Chinese / Google Translate, Some Google Apps unstable like Phone)
On one hand it looks like EEA has finally catched up with most of the missing features from Xiaomi.eu/China(see PS) and you're also getting Android 13, easy OTAs, ability to lock the bootloader and a whole bunch of optimization and new features from MIUI 14. And a bigger support community since it's the official ROM after all. And access to even more BETAs since Xiaomi.eu doesn't do betas on this device
On the other hand, all of this will come to xiaomi.eu when the stable's out anyway. And it will probably be even better than stock. And there still might be a few missing Chinese features that will never be added to EEA/Global.
It's really mixed for me tbh. What do you guys think ? What are you going to do ?
PS: I know there's no China ROM for 11T Pro, but Xiaomi.eu actually ports Chinese features even without the Chinese ROM.

Better time to stay on the Xiaomi EU rom and keep the advantages that do not exist on the stock (call recorder, Full themes, etc.).
On a stock beta version you can have bugs, sometimes not too serious or sometimes you will have to downgrade.
When it comes to stock ROM support, you will only get answers if you want to buy a new phone.
I had the 11 t pro but disappointed with the autonomy and I replaced it with a 12 pro which initially had less autonomy than the 11 t pro with A12 but A13 corrected this problem.

I'm getting around 6h SOT on my device...which I also think it's kinda mediocre. What about you ?
What if A13 fixes battery on 11T Pro as well.
AS for tech support, I guess the stock has a bigger community where I can find the issues easier. But the xiaomi.eu community is much nerdier, so it depends lol

My SOT is never the same, what I see is that since A13 I charge my phone less often and I've gone from 24 hours to 30/36 hours.
Many report the improvement in autonomy with A13.

On Xiaomi Eu rom you have to be precise and make a logcat for bugs.
Yes, but I'm getting older and contrary to most of this community, I don't like tinkering with my device that much anymore. I see that MIUI 14 introduces most of the features that I loved from xiaomi.eu and I'd love the comfort of OTAs, safety and no headaches due to having an unlocked bootloader and just generally, the ease of use of a stock device with no sort of tinkering whatsoever. And just easier back-ups. Also, I'd like having beta access to Xiaomi since xiaomi.eu has none for my device
Now, I'm wondering if flashing using the official xiaomi tool will just lock bootloader and fix/restore everything to stock.

Betas will still be based on the Global.
Betas are test roms to finalize the global stable.

Global or EEA same base except that the EEA includes restrictions following the European directives.

Hi, I had quite a nooby question, I have an Indian variant of 11T Pro which is running on its latest Indian variant of MIUI, can I relock my bootloader during flashing of EEA variant of MIUI or will that brick my device? Not sure if this the correct thread, I'm sorry if it isn't, didn't know where to ask this question. Thanks

On this device (VILI) you can re-lock the bootloader with any stock fastboot rom with Miflash.
