Long press back button kill app - Tasker Tips & Tricks

Hi all,
New to tasker and completely lost. So any help is greatly appreciated.
Due to work requirements I will have to lose root on my Oneplus 8 pro and revert to complete stock.
One of the main things i don't want to be without is the ability to long press the back button to kill the current app I'm on.
Can anyone help me in achieving this via tasker without root? Thanks

Hi, have you tried the ADB WIFI options?
You do not need to be a root user.
Kill Current App (295)
A1: App Info [ Package/App Name: Ignore Packages: Ignore Unlaunchable Apps:Off Get All Details:Off ]
A2: ADB Wifi [ Command:am force-stop %app_package Host: Port: Timeout (Seconds):1 Enable Debugging (Check Help):Off ]

IDUS why longpback2kill is not a stock gesture.

I got to surrender
Got edxposed, problem solved..
In hindsight...
Useless feature kill back

Hey play store, thanks for notificatiob on updates, specificaky im fighting u dont do..
Oh hey samsung0,,, good to havr secure folder back, that i drozen detached, uninstalled and wiped leftowers... Also did a live sacrifice and rain dance...

Realy nice woud be... Shortcut to launch overlay with running process/service ... Like in accubattery but on a key,no task killer just view... What triggers this state... Deviice strts screeching like pain, freezes all input but sometime foreground app looks running ok, but it either dont go or u need catch a sec and go to homescreen... Or power vol. Down only
U think its gpu or ram ? 1 game does this and not the heaviest i play... So ? Ideas? How to test it? But 90% force tebboot so no logcat...

[Guide] scheduling extreme power saving mode using LLAMA!

This guide is for those who want to use this mode other than the battery reaching 20%
or want to automate this mode when screen is off as in this simple example where after 40 mins the mode will be activated
There are screenshots in post #2 step by step
First u need sense 6 rom and of cos u need to be rooted
U need "Llama" and "Secure settings" both being free apps from playstore
i am using Llama as its easier to use
Steps
1) Just open llama , new event
2) add condition as screen off ( with delayed event 40 mins) , choose action , local plugin, secure settings , options , launch activity , power , choose app first, then choose from dropdown list [Power].extremepowersaver.Extremepowersaveractivityconfirm ( if u can see the words being too long just tilt and use landscape mode)
Save yr llama event. thats it.
Edit: macrodroid is better to use than llama as it does it not do cell polling And can use shake device feature Just follow the same steps
Here are the steps
When I try to test the action I get a message saying that secure settings does not have permission. I'm also not rooted

[Q] Airdroid 2.1.0 question

Hi guys this is my first post on XDA. I'm currently testing new apps, and I recently encountered a situation in my OPO with the airdroid.
I don't know if it's normal, but in Airdroid 2.1.0 whenever I log out the application, the process is still running in the background. How can I turn off that process without need to go to the Definitions > applications > In execution and stop it from there .
With Best regards
Have you taken a look in options to see if the appropriate options are checked.
I believe it runs in the background because push service a s push mirror to work
lol go back to app and press back button it will say exit say yes and its done

screen overlay detected phone cannot acces drive with apps

Hello, I'm having issues with my N6 after the Marshmallow But I am facing a problem that for each application, I am getting screen overlay detected. If I follow on screen instructions, in settings, I can't change permission. i cannot upload any images from my phone to facebook, instagram basically any app trying to access the drive on my phone. can you guys help solve this issue.
thanks,
A quick Google search for "screen overlay detected" found a lot of results indicating this is due to screen filtering apps that modify the screen brightness, such as Lux, Bluelight Filter, Twilight, etc.

Yes, they also prevent you granting root access to apps too. Lux is the most common. These apps put an overlay over the UI. Android protection prevents you pressing "serious" buttons in case it is the overlay working to malicious intents.

okay. I have called google support for five nights and not one tech support person was able to help me. After countless hours of fiddling i figured out how to fix this problem. Put your phone in safe mode (press the power off button and press on the on screen power off icon until it asks if you want to go in safe mode. Press okay) then once it reboots, go to settings, then apps, click on the facebook app or whatever app you have the problem with, press permissions and then turn on all the permissions (toggle to the right and it should turn green). Repeat for whichever other apps have this problem then turn reboot the phone and voila! It's fixed. :d

I was thinking going back to Lollipop, then you saved my days. This "Screen overlay detected" was driving me nuts as I have tons of apps that requires "Draw over other apps" such as Sidebar Launcher, SuperSU, Widgetsoid, Rotation Manager... almost 30 apps. So every time I install new app I virtually have to turn off the "Draw over other apps" for all these 30 then set the permissions then turn them on again. It's so frustrating. And if I stupidly reset permissions for all apps then virtually most are unusable. Now with Safemode I can grant an app all the permissions it requires without turn the "Draw over other apps" off.

@jokeinc I don't have twilight, lux, or any CM apps. Your solution is the only solution to have worked for me. Thank you so much!
I have a Samsung galaxy s6 and it didn't work for me, i have tried everythings but the only way is go into ultra power safe mode and from here i was able to activate permissions for whatsapp. For activate the other apps i don't know what to do.
Sorry for my bad english but i'm desperate??

Thanks but i solved the problemi. I just unistalled CM Locker
It's good you solved your problem. You shouldn't be running anything from Cheetah Mobile, as every single app they produce is pretty much junk.
Grrr
Omni swipe program can also cause this disable it or uninstall
For me it's just SwipePad that I use which has an always on overlay. If you know what apps are overlaying I've found a workaround you can setup. Ideally an app shouldn't have an invisible overlay permanently hogging resources so you should find and disable them permanently if they're unwanted anyway. An app like Elixir with it's "running" processes/services filtered to User can help finding the culprit.
So I use a workaround to quickly disable an overlay for permission toggling. A "Task Shortcut" that uses the Tasker Greenify plugin (don't know if pro is required) to Hibernate the overlay app/s, Wait for a configured time and then Wake. Note that the wake process takes five seconds to finish.
I open my shortcut from SwipePad itself for it to disable for ten seconds while I click away at permissions to my hearts content. When the time is up it resumes working normally and all is well :highfive:

I don't understand what you're doing. Your link is to a Task Manager Shortcut for Galaxy S3. I can see how Tasker could be used, but I don't understand how this app would be involved.

This is because of the apps that are using "draw over other apps" feature. You can just turn them off from settings. If you want a head up on how to do this, you can go to this link here. Fix screen overlay detected

i'm ready to put my phone in the garbage disposal over this error. i can't get rid of it and can't even download a simple APK file from chrome without getting it. I've done everything suggested in every youtube video and what you said above.
i turn off screen overlay for every app shown, which is about 30 and i have none of the so called problem apps installed.
i go into safe mode and try to turn on a permission and I STILL GET THE SCREEN OVERLAY ERROR. i have no idea what to do or what is wrong.

OpenVPN 3.0.X - Connect and Disconnect with Tasker (Solution)

Hi All,
It would appear that the interface / code changed rather a lot in the most recent update and the previous intents are no longer working.
I have figured out how to fix this. Please follow the directions below.
Important Note: Your profile name is now prefixed with PC. E.g. My profile of test.co.uk/example [user] would now be PC test.co.uk/example [user]
So, here are the settings (don't include the curly brackets):
Connect
Action: net.openvpn.openvpn.CONNECT
Extra: net.openvpn.openvpn.AUTOSTART_PROFILE_NAME: PC {Your profile name}
Extra: net.openvpn.openvpn.AUTOCONNECT: true
Package: net.openvpn.openvpn
Class: net.openvpn.unified.MainActivity
Target: Activity
Disconnect
Action: net.openvpn.openvpn.DISCONNECT
Extra: net.openvpn.openvpn.STOP: true
Package: net.openvpn.openvpn
Class: net.openvpn.unified.MainActivity
Target: Activity
Edit: As of the current version (3.0.4), OpenVPN no longer remains in the foreground on disconnect.
Awesome... Thanks for the fix.

Yes - It is very annoying that OpenVPN remains on the foreground on Disconnect.
Can Tasker's Kill App be used for this purpose?

:highfive: Thank you for finding this. I had to downgrade 1.1.27 to get my task to work, but now I've got the new UI and working tasks, so THANK YOU.
As a lazy workaround to the app remaining in the foreground I've added a 1-second wait then 2 AutoInput Back actions:
"Intent to end OpenVPN connection"
2. Wait = 1 second
3. AutoInput Global Action = Back
4. AutoInput Global Action = Back

You will need the AutoInput Tasker plugin for this to work. You can get it from here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autoinput
1. Follow the above steps for the Disconnect task
2. Hit the + to add a new action
In the list that pops up, select Task -> Wait and change it to 1 second
3. Hit the + button to add a new action
In the list select Plugin -> AutoInput -> Global Action
Hit the pencil icon next to Configuration
Hit Action -> Select Back from the list
Hit the check mark on the top right, then hit the back button to return to the Actions list
4. Repeat #3
Your Actions list should look like the attached image.
I had to add the AutoInput 'Back' action twice since OpenVpn Connect backs out of the VPN Profile screen into the main app screen. The second Back action takes you to back into your last app/activity.
It's a lazy workaround so I'm sure someone will come up with something better in time.

As another workaround for OpenVPN Connect staying in the foreground on Disconnect I added this tasks to my disconnect profile
Wait 5 seconds
Go Home
Tasker has a Go Home task built in that effectively works for this use case!

Use the updated values in OP instead of those listed on the site, though.

First of all, thank you for this post.
Currently I'm using "go home" to "close" open vpn after disconnect.
Latest change log says "* added minimize app on disconnect shortcut feature"
Do you think we can use it in Tasker somehow to natively minimize the app after disconnect?

After updating, it actually closes itself automatically now. It happens very quickly - I don't even see the OpenVPN UI.

Hello,
I am using Automate its pretty much the same in terms of use like tasker.
But it's free and you Programm flows. But when I try this without using the back back option the disconnect interface didn't close it self.
Did you comment something new in the action blocks?
