TWRP Helper for /data/media backup - Magisk

Magisk 20.4, Magisk Manager 8.0.4, TWRP 3.4, LineageOS 17.1 Kuntao/Lenovo P2
[re-wording edit]
My question is why does TWRP Backup show *inc* /data/media when TWRP Helper doesn't appear to be installed? I thought the helper module was what made this happen.
It's working but I'd like to understand why in order to feel confident with it.
[/edit]
Phone shows rooted in Root Checker Basic. Tried to install TWRP Helper module but it failed and doesn't appear in the installed modules list. Reason for installing is to be able to do a full backup with TWRP (before doing LineageOS updates which have a nasty habit of trashing the phone).
However, in TWRP backup the Data partition already says "inc. /data/media" anyway instead of the usual exc. I thought that was what TWRP Helper was for. But if it's not installed what have I misunderstood?
Thanks.

Hello, I have the following problem: my device is Samsung SM-G9006V with root rights, the operation system is LineageOS 16. I want upgrade it to LineageOS 18. But first I made Nandroid Backup with the "TWRP Helper" (repo from Magisk). The upgrade ended in a loop from LineageOS, I means: LineageOS boot up to its logo, then crashes and starts again. I flashed LineageOS 17 but the same thing happens.
I restored Nandroid Backup, but had problems with my data on the external SD card (it is adaptive to the internal storage, not mobile), namely: the data are on the SD card, I can see it in TWRP Recovery Explorer in
/external_sd /media/0, but LineageOS does not bind (does not mount) it. My data on the SD card lay like a stone.
One more thing: when restoring data, TWRP says in the beginning in protocol:
unable to find partition for path “/”.
There is only one error in file /tmp/recovery.log:
I: Failed to load image from indeterminate013, error -1
Can someone tell me:
1. Why does Nandroid not work for my data on an external SD card. Or how can I manually mount or link the data from the external SD card into the system (for example: mount -o rw / dev / device_externe_SD_Card / sdcard or
ln -s / external_sd / media / 0 / data / media / 0 or ???)
2. And why does upgrade end in the system loop
thanks

Help: Recovering Data Partition/Mount?

I'll try to be brief...
Background: I bought a used Samsung Galaxy Tab knowing full well that there was something wrong with the internal 2GB memory. The previous owner had installed CM10.1 nightlies on the SD card and was booting the tablet from the external SD card, totally bypassing the internal memory.
The goal: to recover the internal memory
Steps I've taken:
1. Removed external SD card so it doesn't boot from SD card
2. Successfully used Heimdall to re-flash to stock (VZW 2.3.5 Stock Root) - after the flash the tablet attempted to reboot. It went to the VerizonWireless screen and I think went into a bootloop.
3. Turned off the tablet and booted into the stock recovery. From the recovery menu I tried to reboot the system, which gave me the following error:
"failed to mount data"
4. Turned off the tablet and booted into stock recovery. I wiped the cache partition. Then I tried to wipe data/factory reset and got the following error:
"E:failed to mount /data (Invalid Argument)
E:install_application_for_customer: Can't mount /data
your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu for format and reboot actions"
5. Using Heimdall I successfully flashed ClockworkMOD recovery, and booted into CM recovery.
6. I attempted to reboot system now and the tablet just hangs at the Samsung logo, doesn't even go to the Verizon screen.
So obviously there seems to be a problem with the /data partition. I'm not sure exactly what to try at this point. How do I mount /data? Can this be done from within CM recovery?
Any advice or things to try would be greatly appreciated.

sdcard0 and sdcard1 not writeable

i need help with my XT1068 (dual sim moto g 2014)
my moto g has an unlocked bootloader, TWRP installed, stock 5.0.2 firmware with root acess.
yesterday i installed xposed for lollipop and gravitybox for lollipop, yes both are alpha versions, but i am that kind of early adopter and i wanted to try it. everything ran smooth, xposed and gravitybox successfully installed and worked.
however i noticed i can't take a screenshot or photo anymore. so i tried via solid explorer to create a folder/file on sdcard0 (internal) and sdcard1 (external sdcard), both failed stating "permission denied". also via MTP on my computer i can't write to both partitions.
so i restored my nandroid backup i did before i installed xposed. problem still exists, my phone works fine but i can't write to both sdcards.
a factory reset wipe doesn't work, after the installation-process were i set language and stuff the system-ui closes and i can't do anything.
i tried all kind of wipes in twrp (system, internal, dalvic cache and cache of course) but nothing worked.
also tried commands like fsck_msdos /dev/block/vold/179:65 (which is my external sdcard) and fsck_mdos /storage/emulated/legacy (which gave me error ** /storage/emulated/legacy (NO WRITE)" ) or restorecon -v -R /data/media (also no change, still not writeable)
in TWRP i can modify folders in the filemanager...
never had any similar situation before. maybe someone has an advice for me.
EDIT:
i decided to go back to the start and get this phone working again. so i downgraded to official kitkat firmware and installed the lollipop ota update. then recovery and supersu and now it is working again.

Safestrap question after unlocking

See post# 2
Update but need some help
Figured everything out after doing more research. I successfully downgraded to 4.4.2 and unlocked using towelroot.
I have a couple of questions if anyone can answer them:
I don't see Safestrap in Busybox's list
Safestrap installed fine and I an access it etc. but a backup fails if I try it:
Says:
Safestrap 3.75 (TWRP v2.7.1.0)
ROM Slot: stock
Data and System are checked
Enable compression and Skip MD5 are unchecked.
Backup Fails:
Unable to mount internal storage.
Unable to mount /external_sd during GUI startup (I have no external sd card in the phone)
Full SELinux support is present
Unable to mount /external_sd/TWRP/. twrps when trying to read settings file
Updating partition details
Unable to mount internal storage
FAIL
Any advice XDA?
Thanks in advance
Figured it out. Stupid simple mistake. I didn't have internal storage mounted. Backup worked great afterwards.
For others searching the same issue, go into Safestrap and click Mount>click internal storage.

TWRP install and rebooting to system succesful, but twrp can't read internal storage

Device: SM-A305N KOO (Korea)
I successfully installed twrp via odin on my A30, flashed magisk.zip, and rebooted to system successfully. After that, I flashed an optimization file and rebooted to system (also successful). But I found that the internal storage was encrypted, so I went straight back to TWRP and did Advanced Wipe - change file system to ext2, then ext4. Now My 'Files' app in the system can read the files correctly like in the pic.
But in the TWRP, the file names in the internal storage is still in random characters. How can I fix this?
If twrp only shows "random characters" that's because the internal storage hasn't been decrypted. Twrp should ask for your user password to decrpyt it. Alternatively you could also do
Code:
adb shell
twrp decrypt MyLovelyPassword
EDIT: You need to be booted into twrp to use this. You could also use the terminal which comes within twrp; just leave the `adb shell' part then.

How To Guide [FIXED] Apps not updated or install after MIUI 13 to 14 Upgrade.

ISSUES :
You get error message when you try to update apps in Play Store or unable to install an apk saying "Out of storage space".
Requirement :
Your phone must be an bootloader unlocked phone and flash and use OrangeFox recovery (I prefer OrangeFox this time).
^^^^^^^^^^WARNING! ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE GONE^^^^^^^^^^ Back up your data to other device or using cloud-based backup.
SOLUTION :
Boot your phone in to Orange Fox Recovery. Mount all partitions available and shown there. Erase these partitions "Data" (NOT Data Format), "Dalvik-cache" & "Cache".
Mount / Enable MTP (can't get connected? Turn it off and back on).
Copy your MIUI14 firmware in to internal storage.
After copying, go to \data\media. Click the flashable miui14 zip and install it as Flashable zip. Wait till it's finished. After that, clear "Dalvik-cache & cache".
I recommend a full reset after phone is booted completely. Your external memory card will be erased too.
Go to \data\media and delete the flash zip file to gain some storage space.
Thank you.
