I want unbrick my P10 using Huawei MultiTool 8.
To do so, the procedure asks me these files:
- System.img
- Ramdisk.img
- Cust.img
- Recovery_Ramdisk.img
- Usedata.img
So, I've used Update Extractor and also split_update with many version of UPDATE.APP, coming from FULL-OTA, but I could NEVER find the bloody Ramdisk.img
What I'm doing Wrong?!?!

I come across similar problem as you. I need RAMDISK.IMG for making patched file for Magisk installation. I use the HuaweiUpdateExtractor to browse the UPDATE.APP and they do not show RAMKDISK.IMG. Rather, they list boot.img, fastboot.img, recovery.img, & many other, but no RAMDISK.IMG

So I have spent the last 5 hours today trying to revert back to any MM rom after getting stuck with test-keys on Nougat. After hours and hours this is the best method I have found.
I think I got this method working now.
Updated the flash order to what works for me now.
Things you need:
The rom you want to get to. Tested with C432B151 but you can find a list of roms here
The Huawei update extractor here
adb installed
Step 1: Unlock your bootloader. A nice guide can be found here. Do not install TWRP. Just unlock your bootloader.
Step 2: Copy the update.app into the dload folder on your SD Card for the rom you want to install and insert sd card into your device. **Make sure sim card is removed**
Step 3:Boot back into fastboot using volume down and power button
Step 4:Using the extractor extract the system.img, boot.img, recovery.img, cust.img and cache.img from the rom you want to install
Step 5.1: Flash the cust.img using
Code:
fastboot flash cust(path to cust.img)
Step 5.2: Flash the boot.img using
Code:
fastboot flash boot (path to boot.img)
Step 5.3: Flash the recovery.img using
Code:
fastboot flash recovery(path to recovery.img)
Step 5.4: Flash the cache.img using
Code:
fastboot flash cache(path to cache.img)
Step 5.5: Flash the system.img using
Code:
fastboot flash system (path to system.img)
**Important dont let your phone boot. Immediately press volume up + down + power to boot into dload update method**
Let system flash the rom again using the dload method.
This is what has worked for me after hours of trying. It might not work for everyone else but I hope it helps someone.
can you help me?
I found this tool that runs under Windows for extracting the Oreo system.img. Just put the system image into the program folder and run the convert.bat. The result is a system.ext4.img with could be opened and extracted with 7zip. You could also convert every other image like cust.img, boot.img, etc. But you have to rename every image to system.img. The convert.bat only works with this name.
Regards
You can just open a command prompt in the same folder as simg2img.exe and run:
simg2img.exe input_sparse.img raw_output.img
Then you can either use the included Ext2Explorer, or extract it using 7zip (this will not keep permissions/ownership).
You can not convert boot/recovery/ramdisk using this. Use Android Image Kitchen for that.

But cust.img worked without problems. Thought it works for every image from the firmware.

system, vendor, cust, product, odm and version will convert fine.
For ramdisk/kernel/recovery partitions you need to use Android Image Kitchen as they're not sparse images.

Download Huawei Update Extractor. Uncheck the header checksum option and you're good to go. The tool will unpack update.app from the FullOTA-MF.
to find a FULL-Update read this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/9-lite/how-to/how-to-huaweiupdatefinder-t3795805
Attention : there are 2 different phones/pad - with OREO and with older android
OREO
- ramdisk.img
- recovery_ramdis.img
- system.img
the boot.img is inside ramdisk.img
you need the right one - not just any
the core for any thing doing - look on your phone WHAT IS YOUR BUILD
He guys,
as you've read I bricked my phone and I don't know how or where I did the mistake?
Status before brick:

-) FRP Unlock
What I wanted to do:
-) FW Update to: EMUI 9.0 via FirmwareFinder
What I've done:
-) Did a Titanium Backup
-) Installed Firmware Finder
-) Downloaded the Firmware CLT-L29C432E5R1P9B195 (9.0.0.195) (BUT there were ONLY 2 files)
-) 1. file was "update.zip"
-) 2. file was "update_full_CLT-L29_hw_eu.zip"
-) Renamed the files to
-) 1. kept file name "update.zip"
-) 2. file renamed "update_full_CLT-L29_hw_eu.zip" --> update_all_hw.zip
-) Put the 2 files + hurupdater_04.zip + recovery.img (TWRP 3.2.1.0.img) to a folder in Root on my device
-) Reboot to recovery -> TWRP
-) TWRP -> Install -> hurupdater_04.zip
ERRORS:

Thanks in advance!!!
He guys,
nobody has an idea to solve/help me with my issues/situation?
I searched the forum and also other forums and pages to find a solution to "my" problem, but without any helpful results.
I am afraid of doing an eRecovery restore because of losing all my data.
I have currently: TWRP installed -> Files/folders with weird names (shown in TWRP & Phone connected to PC "Explorer")
What can I do to save, restore, copy my pictures and files from phone to PC?
Please give me some hints.
This way brought me back
Try downloading the firmware here: FIRMWARE
Then follow these instructions: HEREhttps://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/development/huawei-p20-pro-charlotte-l29c432b131-8-t3809964
Got me out of a pinch a few times.

Thanks for the help and the links.
BUT before I'll start doing this, there is just one issue left: the encrypted "storage / files" (pics etc.) in TWRP.
BEFORE I want to say, that I've removed all the security barriers like fingerprint, pattern and faceID !!!!
I tried using this https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3779400
with different kinds of TWRP versions:
TWRP 3.2.1-0.img
twrp_clt_0.1.img frome here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3779400
twrp-3.2.1-0-charlotte-mod.img frome here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20/how-to/how-to-how-to-unbrick-clt-l29c432-t3878714
twrp-3.2.3-4-charlotte.img
But nothing works, my files shown in TWRP -> storage are still encrypted and still shown with weird gibberish names?
Do you know how to solve this, or where I can get the right TWRP version?
I'm totally at the end of ideas and not finding the right way to get access to my pictures and stuff again.

I honestly don't think any twrp will work, another reason i'll never buy a huawei again. You could try extracting the image files from the update.app that you get from the update.zip file. then manually flash:
You can extract the image files using EMUI Extractor Application.
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash system system.img
I believe the pictures are located on the userdata partition. be sure to flash the right android version as it may depend on what framework you have and how far you got when it was updating. You may want to verify the location of those pictures first.
SO I replicated your soft brick, after I backup up my photos. I ccouldn't save them. I'm up and running though. Turns out I had to first manually flash those image files located in update.app. Then I had to do this
Modified\Updated (Bricked device fix)
1) Try downloading the firmware here: FIRMWARE
2) Extract the update.app file from the update.zip, then use EMUI extractor to extract all the image files. You'll then need to manually flash a few of them: (You can move all these images into the main folder of the Reflash tools located in step 3, then run CMD-HERE)
Commands: (Some might error, i forget which but its alright)
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash kernel kernel.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img (Very Important)
fastboot flash recovery_vbmeta recovery_vbmeta.img
fastboot flash recovery_vendor recovery_vendor.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash vector vector.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot, unplug the USB-C cable and hold the volume up button. this will put you into recovery mode.
Then you'll need to format data using with the EMUI recovery and if given the option format cache.
Reboot back into bootloader\Download mode.
3) Then follow these instructions: HEREhttps://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/development/huawei-p20-pro-charlotte-l29c432b131-8-t3809964
Got me out of a pinch a few times.
Unfortunately I seem to have the same issue. I followed @Vedrick's tutorial.
However after fastboot reboot I'm stuck on 'Your device is booting now...'
Any ideas?
I worry that perhaps the 'boot image' on my p20 is messed up. However in the .APP file I can't find the boot image to restore. I do however see 2 SYSTEM images.
nvm! Got it! Had to fastboot erase userdata.
Hi, I have unlock the boot loader and root my pixel 4a 5g in february update.
I don't understand how update it when new update comes ?
I can update it with Ota when comes in settings/System/Update ?
Or I do flash system image with fastboot and then flash the boot.img with Magisk to flash it in Fastboot mode ?
But I see : Flashing a new system image deletes all user data !!?
Before on Oneplus and later Xiaomi is more easy with Twrp. But now it's very complicated to update my freshly updated Pixel 4a 5g and Root
Please that it is the easiest procedure to update every month with Magisk installed. Previously I stopped all the Mods installed so as not to have a similar bootloop for Substartum .. Thank you
Thanks
Here's what I do:
- Download full factory image
- Unzip the archive
- There will be flash-all.bat (for Windows) and flash-all.sh (Linux) files created. You will need to edit the appropriate file to remove the -w flag on the "fastboot -w update image-bramble-rq1c.210205.006.zip" command near the bottom of the script.
- Within the archive you just unzipped, a directory will be created i.e. bramble-rq1c.210205.006 and within that there will be another zip file i.e. image-bramble-rq1c.210205.006. This zip file also needs to be uncompressed to extract the individual .img files including boot.img.
- Copy boot.img to your phone (Download directory is a good place)
- Flash the update using the edited flash-all script
- Once flashing is complete and the phone has rebooted, go into Magisk Manager and Install Magisk using the "select and patch a file" method. Navigate to the Downloads directory and select boot.img. Once complete, there will be a patched boot image named something like magisk_patched_bEKaK.img created in the Download directory. Copy that file back to your PC and then use fastboot to flash it to your phone i.e. "fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_bEKaK.img".
- Reboot phone and profit!
