Hello there
Is there any other user of Xz3 Softbank version? Which firmware are you using?
I tried the Softbank Android 10 and H8416 customized UK 52.1.A.3.92 but I noticed that the battery easily drains.
is this due to NFC? it is completely disabled on H8416 firmware? Should I go back to Android 9 or can I install the dual Sim firmware variant? I noticed guys are saying 672 for h9493. I wonder if this works also with single sim phone like Softbank xz3
I am also xz3 801so user, how did you flash uk firmware?mine bootloader unlock allowed status is no.

Use customized IT. Or just keep your rom. Search for how to uninstall system app by ADB on android. Remove anything about NFC. You will get better battery.
NFC unavailable to turn on or off from toggle. But it continues running in background. That why your battery drain crazy.

Do i need to unlock the bootloader first?

Hello
Been googling for a while now trying to understand the differences between the Huawei P9 models.
I live in Australia and will be purchasing from AliExpress, but wasn't sure which model is correct for me as there appears to be the following Huawei P9's.
Al00, DL00 and AL10.
Thanks in advance!
I'm guessing those models are strictly Chinese models. That means that they're intended for China and don't necessarily support as many LTE bands as the global models. Check to see what LTE bands your wireless carrier uses and make sure the phone you get supports them.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G_connectivity_in_Australia
The P9 EVA-L09 model seems to support the most number of LTE bands. If there's a chance you'll travel internationally with your phone, the EVA-L09 model is the one you should wait for.
http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_p9-7972.php
I believe those are the China domestic versions: EVA-AL00 (3GB/32GB), EVA-DL00 (3GB/32GB), EVA-AL10 (4GB/64GB).
(http://consumer.huawei.com/cn/mobile-phones/p9/ if you can read Chinese)
International versions are: EVA-L09 (3GB/32GB SINGLE-SIM), EVA-L19 (3GB/32GB DUAL-SIM), EVA-L29 (4GB/64GB DUAL-SIM). You can see the differences here (expand the "+Technical specifications" section): http://consumer.huawei.com/en/mobile-phones/p9/
Each phone seems to support slightly different range of network bands so you will need to check which is most suitable: http://www.willmyphonework.net/
Thanks guys that helps.
So the version I need is this one apparently since my carrier is Telstra in Australia. AL00 and I am not so sure if this model is AL00; can anyone tell?

First figure out what LTE bands your wireless carrier uses.
Take a look at http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_p9-7972.php for P9 models and the different LTE bands available on each.
As I understand it, you'll probably want the P9 EVA-L09 version. This is a single SIM model with most of the Western LTE bands. According to the specs, this model is the only one that has NFC. So if you want to use NFC for Android Pay, this model is most likely to work with it.

What do you mean with "original ROM"?
Anyway, "original" Chinese ROM version is different from the "original" international ROM version.
So both versions are equally "original" in this respect.
Moreover, some Chinese carriers might SIM-lock the phone (if this is what you mean for "Modified by vendor").

Dear Friend,
When I said "Modified by vendor" I mean those ROM's who not receive updates via OTA and have a lot of bloatwares that the vendor have been installed.
Do you understood?
Thanks.

Actually these ROMs are generally called "branded" by carriers (and not "modified"...), and also these are official and original stock ROMs..
And I've never seen any original stock ROM for Huawei phones that can't receive OTA, even on branded phones.
However on branded phones some bloatware is usually added by the carriers.
Furthermore, often branded phones might be SIM-locked to the carrier's SIMs only.

It's very good.
I bought the Chinese Version EVA-AL00 and if AL10 has portuguese, the AL00 certainly has also.
Thanks a lot for the support.
Why not just read the bands from Chinese site?. This is for eva-Al10
The only real difference is support for cdma for China telecom. It will only support one Sim for cdma though, not both.

English HiVoice w/ EVA-AL10
I have the EVA-AL10 in USA (California) on AT&T Network and it works great.
I uninstalled all the Chinese Apps and using Google Play store etc.
My question:
Is is possible to change HiVoice Command from Chinese to English? Is there a Euro version of EMUI that can change this? Or perhaps another way to do this?
Or is it out of the question, since I bought a EVA-AL10 vs. EVA-L29 / EVA-L19 / EVA-L09?
I bought my in Hong Kong it is Version EVA-L19. It has google apps pre-installed but no NFC.

VOLTE is enabled here in the UK, so pretty sure a UK build will work for you.
You will need ADB drivers for the phone and beware if you've used your laptop/workstation for another model of phone as sometime this can interfere.
Start with Xperiafirm and download the most recent firmware build, which as I type is UK customised. Sticking to customised build avoids all the bloatware that goes with branded builds.
Download newflasher and unpack it into the same folder as the firmware.
Delete userdataXXX.sin (this preserves the data partition during the flash)
Turn off phone, plug it in, start newflasher, type 'n' to the first two questions.
This should get you the latest build phone with your data intact

Hey,
Can you please let me know the process? I have ordered xz1c from US. I suppose it won't be having fingerprint working.
As others mentioned, UK firmware will give fingerprint but along with that I'd like to use Jio's VoLTE.
Please let me know the process. Also, may I know after doing that, will I miss on OTA updates?
Download Taiwanese firmware for xz1c and download Indian xz1 firmware, take OEM.sin from Indian xz1 firmware and replac oem. Sin in xz1c Taiwanese firmware and flash the modified Taiwanese xz1c firmware

Have you thought of posting your question on the XZ2 Compact thread?
That said there's no reason why you couldn't flash a version of firmware that supports VoLTE. yourself.
Xperiafirm will get you the up to date firmware, I would go for CE1 customised
Put Newflasher in the same folder as the downloaded firmware, remove Userdataxxx.sin and files ending in .ta to keep your data partition intact. Start Newflasher.exe and follow instructions.
You might need the Sony ADB drivers

Thanks a lot. I first flashed xz2 dual indian firmware oem sin file with malasian 47.2.A.4.41 That soft bricked my device. Then I flashed xz1 dual indian firmware oem sin file with the same, now volte is working with reliance jio.
I used three FW-versions from XperiFirm and none of them enabled the VoLTE-setting on my XZ1c. Which one should I use to obtain the setting?
Is there a way to use Reliance Jio VoLTE on lineageOS 19.0, or 18.1 for that matter? I know flashing carrier MBN files works the trick for LG devices. Has anybody figured it out for xperias from 2017 or later? If it is available for any other xperia, I am happy to test it on lilac G8441.

Hi,
I'm in the UK; have an Xperia 1 II from O2. Bought outright and using my EE sim in the phone. I am investigating the possibility of flashing generic UK firmware (i.e. to match the firmware on the phones sold direct from Sony) so that EE wifi calling hopefully starts to work. Phone is unlocked.
I've never flashed a phone before and am trying to figure out how it works.
My understanding is:
1. can obtain firmware via Xperifirm
2. can flash that firmware using Flashtool
3. don't need to unlock bootloader to flash new firmware.
My questions are:
4. is it as simple as the above? Download my selected firmware and then flash using Flashtool?
5. is Flashtool a third party software? I see the Sony dev site also offers a flash tool called Emma. I have also seen references to a separate Newflasher and the need for an fsc script
6. how do I confirm which firmware is which? I presume I would be looking to use the 'Customized UK' firmware listed in Xperifirm, CDA 1321-7192 / 58.0.A.3.31 / R8A.
Thanks, appreciate any info.
Cheers,
Michael
I posted how I did it here and in this simpler guide here.
Your understandings are correct. FlashTool includes XperiFirm.
4. Yes, though you will have to do a couple of additional steps because the FlashTool devices database has not been updated with the .fsc for the phone yet.
5. Yes, FlashTool is 3rd party software and allows you to change Customization. Emma is only for unlocked bootloaders from what I remember. You will need to also download the .fsc and .properties files I provided and rename the .fsc file.
6. Yes, 'Customized UK' from XperiFirm is what you want.
On Windows you will need to install the Flashmode and Fastboot drivers in the Flashtool\drivers directory to communicate with your phone. Follow the instructions here as you need to start Windows with driver signature enforcement disabled to do this.
Once you have that all set up, downloaded the firmware and FlashTool has processed the downloaded firmware, you will be ready to flash. Click Flash and choose Flash Mode, then set it up as in my first link - this will wipe all data on the phone.
When flashing, an error of "those files are not in the fsc script: persist, reset-non-secure-adb" is entirely normal. When flashing has finished successfully it will say "synced".
Thanks heaps - I'll have a go.
O2 advised me the phone is unbranded and unlocked as if bought direct from Sony is this incorrect ??

Thanks in advance Mike
Hi,
It has an O2 app preinstalled. No branding or startup stuff. Everything is fine except no WiFi calling visible for EE, which I expected. I did talk to O2 a bit beforehand and they said the firmware would be specific but nothing else. It is unlocked, my EE SIM is working fine aside from WiFi calling as above.

I doubt you will get VoLTE/4G calling working on EE or 3 with the O2 firmware either. (At least it didn't work for me with a Vodafone SIM). To me VoLTE is much more important than WiFi calling as without VoLTE you cannot make a phone call on 4G and instead have to also have a connection to a 3G or 2G network to make a call.
Flashing the Customized UK firmware should fix this.

Yes exactly. WiFi calling not working on EE out of the box. Just need to take the time and get brave enough to do it!
Did you flash your Xperia 1ii? I have the same, O2 phone with EE sim , no wifi calling but everything else OK. I though it was working before the last Sony update but maybe it wasn't. I notice the mobile signal shows LTE but when I put an O2 sim in it says 4G. I didn't realise it was a firmware issue so looking at doing this. I need wifi calling at the back of my house as the mobile signal is very weak.

Hi, yes I did using this wonderful thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-1-II/how-to/successfully-flashed-customization-t4119707
Read it first as there can be some scary moments depending on which usb-c cable you use to connect the phone to the pc (don't use the Sony one) but it all works if you follow the instructions and I now have WiFi calling over EE.

I managed to flash to stock UK and now have Wi-Fi calling on EE - but - I have lost the ability to edit the APN. When I hotspot some apps get confused with IPv6 so I delete that from the EE APN but cant do it now I have flashed. Also lost LTE option. Just generic 5G/4G/3G/2G. Can you edit your APN and do you have LTE?
As for the headphones, good for you - still waiting for mine

After flashing from O2 firmware to stock UK firmware I only have the one option of 5G/4G/3G/2G
Noob question but does flashing the firmware impact using NFC payments and Google pay?
Also does anyone know if/have experience of, the Hong Kong version (dual SIM), being able to use VOLTE/WiFi calling here in the UK? I need a dual SIM phone ideally but I read somewhere that flashing the dual SIM with a UK firmware will disable the second sim slot (which makes sense to me).
Thank you!
LTE is 4G isn't it. Does O2 just put LTE in their firmware rather than 4G?
Due to pixel was not sold I was buying pixel 5 from japan. I thought if I flash a US ROM the shutter sound (japan shutter sound law) will go away but it seems like it is still going strong even after I used Cambodia sim. It was used outside japan so if anybody able to turn it off ? or I flashed the wrong ROM
this is the image that I had flashed
11.0.0 (RD1A.201105.003.C1, Nov 2020)
It looks like from android 11 Google has made it very difficult if not impossible to turn off shutter sound on phones sold in Japan. There are a few workarounds but none are perfect
1. Root and replace the shutter sound files with silent sound. All the camera functions are retained but the phone becomes less secure and you may not be able to use banking apps or Google pay
2. Use of third party camera apps or modified Google camera app

I thought that it was from software so if we able to flash a US based rom and living outside of japan it would be able to do the trick guess Im going to wait for Gcam mode to come to pixel 5 then. Thank you

It is possible to switch it off with module for Magisk. Also there is another way... you can covert forever Japan version to European one.

Ok.
1. Unlock your bootloader
2. Boot to TWRP. Today it is test9 version and it works on Android 11 (So, downgrade if you are on A12)
3. From TWRP run (menu - install) this script: MID_Changer_v2.10-MAGISK-TWRP.zip
4. Choose GTT9Q Model ID (it is Euro Union, Australia) for changing
5. Flash global version Factory Image with device wiping (it can be A12 one)
6. Lock the bootloader. Done
Enjoy

Much appreciated for your work!
Unfortunately I'm getting a Japan Pixel6. The same trick seems impossible because of TWRP support and your patch only supporting Pixel 5.
However your patch still provided some insights. i.e. CDT partition for storing MID info.
I'll take a look on Pixel6 once I get it. Hope it behaves in a similar fashion.

Seems Pixel 4A 5G should be supported by MID_Changer_v1.02-TWRP.zip. Steps above should be enough. What I manually did on Pixel 6 is different and pretty dangerous if not knowing what you're doing.

You can not convert your japan version of 4a 5g to European one because 4a 5g has different hardware of each version: US - USA, ROW - EU and Australia, JPN - Japan.
Even if you change Model ID manually (it is possible), your phone will stay Japan version anyway and it won't help with sound in your camera.
It is possible for Pixel 5 because Japan and European phones have the same hardware - ROW (Rest Of World). Look at your screen bootloader mode of 4a 5g.
But you can switch off the sound in camera with Magisk module. You have to be with root for it.

Are you sure that they have different hardware? This is sad if that is the case. I guess I will just have to live with the shutter sound. Or I will just root in the future.

Thanks for the heads up. Just updated as well, USA and using it now.
Thanks! I'm amazed Samsung bothered to put the last release out just 14 days ago.

Google did the same thing on the Pixels, where we were most definitely on "12L"/"12.1" but in software version it still said "12".

No, I don't know anything about that. I haven't checked on the Tab S8 Ultra yet, but on my Pixel 6 Pro, there's this option:

Maybe the "Background check" option could also help, if it exists in OneUI?

I got the update yesterday on my S8+ but after the first boot I noticed the black background on the boot branding with the white text was flickering instead of solid and once booted the image quality is way worse, like there's no contrast and a yellow filter over the whole screen.
Rebooting doesn't help and no visual related settings were changed under display nor accessibility, anyone else having this problem?
I've been using Android 12L on my Tab S8 for a couple of days, and so far I am very impressed! The taskbar is the game changer. Opening 2-3 apps on the screen was already possible with the edge bar and split screen on 12, but the process is more simplified and intuitive on 12L. The only issue is that you can't use the taskbar on Nova launcher. Samsung launcher isn't too bad but I much prefer Nova... enjoy!

Yea, reading around it sounds like the taskbar doesn't work with any non-stock launcher! So disappointing!

I won't hold my breath, but here's hoping either Samsung will provide a way to use it without their launcher, or someone provides a root way to enable the stock AOSP 12.1/12L taskbar, at least.

If you can unlock the bootloader you can flash any firmware you want. Just make sure it's the one for your model.
(your model number may be different)

Flashing stock roms shouldn't need bootloader unlocks. Since EUX is stock rom so it should be flashable anyway without touching bootloader. Because it is stock rom.
Also I'm quite sure I have seen others on here flash other region roms on their devices without needing to unlock bootloader.
Never touch bootloader while warranty is active, doing so voids it.

Okay, I assumed wrong that changing CSC (flashing EUX firmware over top of XXV) would require a bootloader unlock. My mistake! Thank you.
I'll always unlock my bootloader immediately, though. No problems for me in the past 12 years, but to be fair, it was only the past 7 years that I've unlocked bootloaders. Before that, and when I was still on Verizon, I was always using exploits to be able to root my Verizon devices. My main devices for the past 6 have been Pixels except for one brief revisit with a Samsung phone a couple of years ago.

Well CSC is only a region code sort off. But every rom for each CSC is stock rom so the device won't become bricked or having issues flashing any CSC region roms. But if you flash a custom rom that is not stock then bootloader unlock is required. Because those do not contain correct certificate that the stock roms do and which therefore becomes rejected or failed when trying to flash them without unlocking the bootloader. While stock ones will pass through without any issues.
I used to flash custom roms years back when there was a workaround where only root was needed to flash. Then bootloader could stay as locked and such, but it was due to a glitch/exploit being used under root method.
