Question [SOLVED] Unlocked Canadian Carrier Info? - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

SOLVED!
Samsung Official Unlocked Firmware:
Canada = XAC
United States = XAA
---------------------------------
I'm looking for anyone who knows a little more about the firmware's for Samsung phones. Or anyone who has ordered the S21 Ultra from Samsung and lives in Canada.
I just got mine today through Bell, and because it's a carrier phone, it has a bunch of Bell bloatware on it that can't be deleted.
I know that the U1 model phones are the unlocked from Samsung, but as far as I could find, those are all to US residence, do they also ship U1 phones directly to Canada and we have our own carrier tag on SamFW.com?
I'm using the T-Mobile U1 firmware on my S20 Ultra and everything works fine, but we also don't have 5G yet, and with this phone, Bell is giving out the new 5G SIM cards so 5G is coming, and I just want to be sure all 5G bands are going to work. I looked it over and it seems that all T-Mobile bands are the same as everyone in Canada (for any US people out there trying to help, all Canadian Carriers use the same bands) so T-Mobile has a pretty good match for us up here.
However, before I flash the T-mobile SM-G998U1 firmware onto my G988W to remove all of the Bell bloat, does anyone know if there is a Canadian specific or direct from Samsung firmware for the unlocked devices directly from Samsung sold to Canada?
On SamFW.com, for the Canadian SM-G988W, it shows as follows
BMC -Bell
BWA - ?
CHR - Chatr
GLW - Freedom Mobile (@Devhux)
KDO - Koodo
PMB - Public Mobile (@Devhux)
RWC - Rogers
SOL - Possibly Shaw? (@Devhux)
TLS - Telus
VMC - Virgin
XAC - Samsung Official Unlocked (@Devhux)
I couldn't figure out what any of the unknown carrier tags are, and are any of those for the direct from Samsung firmware? (no carrier bloat)
The same goes for the US SM-G998U1 firmwares as follows
ACG -
AIO - Cricket (@iBowToAndroid)
ATT - AT&T
CCT - Xfinity Mobile/Comcast (@iBowToAndroid)
CHA - Chat Mobility
FKR - ?
LRA - ?
TFN - ?
TMB - T-Mobile
TMK - Metro PCS (@iBowToAndroid)
USC - U.S. Cellular
VZN - Verizon
XAA - Samsung Official Unlocked (@iBowToAndroid)
XAR - ?
XAS - ?
Are any of those the direct from Samsung unlocked firmware tags?
If you don't know which is Samsung official unlcoked, but do know what any of those tags are, feel free to post below and I'll update the list so we can get more info on what all of these are.
Thanks

GLW - Freedom Mobile (formerly owned by GlobalLive Wireless)
PMB - Public Mobile
RWC - Rogers
SOL - Shaw? (Guessing)
XAC - ?
Not sure if this helps but here's my Software Information screen from my S21 Ultra purchased from Samsung Canada.

Hey you figured it out, deadly! It says at the bottom under carrier info XAC.
So XAC is the official samsung unlocked firmware.

I missed that! As for the SJR tags, I almost wonder if that's related to Shaw (like how it downloaded the Shaw network settings). SJR = J.R. Shaw (founder of the company)? That would be an interesting tidbit if so.

Need some advice. I have an unlocked S21 Ultra coming from Samsung USA. Should I flash the with XAC or just use it with XAA which is what it should come with?
If it matters I am on Koodo.
Also, I am new to firmware flashing. If I need to flash XAC do I set up the phone with or without a sim card right out of the box and then flash it.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Not sure if there are any other advantages to flash unlocked firmware outside of removing carrier bloatware. Are there others?

[Q] Which Tab do I have?

Alright so I am the proud new owner of a GT-P1000R on Rogers (Canada). I know in the States a different Tab was released for each carrier but what does this translate to for my version? Is it the Sprint, Verizon, etc equivalent? It is a GSM Tab so that narrows it down but I can't find which carrier the GT-P1000R corresponds to. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys
GSM - most GSM variants are gt-P1000, the "R" is for Rogers.... Its carrier branded. You need to check if the bootloaders are locked before playing with new roms, find the bootloader patch apk here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071
It is most like euro tab, AT&T or T-mobile. Don't flash CDMA or P1010(wireless only) roms or you will brick your new toy...
Cheers...

Flashing Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - G955W (Canadian) to a G950U1 Note 8

Hi Everyone,
I've searched and could not find a clear answer, and am hoping someone can help.
I just purchased a US Samsung Note 8 (SM-950U1), my question is, is it possible for me to install the G955W (Canadian) firmware on this device?
For Canadian users is anyone currently using a US Note 8 (SM-950U1) Factory unlocked?
Thanks.
Made a typo I meant can I flash SM-N950W Canadian firmware to a SM-950U1 Factory unlocked Note 8
Thanks,

not yet, North American models are all Snapdragon with locked bootloaders. If someone finds a way to unlock the bootloader then you could get a flashable zip version of a Canadian ROM and use that but as far as I've seen nobody has been able to do much with the Snapdragon variants yet.
I have been reading the s8 plus thread where users have flashed the s8 plus Canadian (sm-g955w) firmware to the Us s8 plus (sm-g955u) is it not the same process?
Thanks for your help

If you follow the s8 + guide...if available it would be the same for u...I am working on a guide for carrier switching but it is for U.S. snapdragon models...but it uses the Canadian XAC home_csc...I say pm the poster of the s8+ that you mentioned for details and then flash at your own risk....you can always flash back to your original....before you do, though, insert your Canadian carrier SIM and see if you can activate it...when I was testing the carrier switch there were options to change to Canadian csc's....good luck
Any update? I also bought my note 8 from USA. With the US firmware, we do not have access to certain features like VOLTE or caller ID and spam protection.
Check out blue fox's thread. I just flashed US firmware on a Canadian unlocked XAA device(not sim locked to Rodgers, bell etc). long as your flashing stock Samsung firmware, youll be fine. The Canadian and US Note 8 phones are basically the same.

How do I Change the CSC of my SM-N950N Note 8 Without Rooting?

Hey guys,
I bought the 256GB factory unlocked emperor edition Note 8 from South Korea, but it is still tied to all of SK Telecom's (SKC region code) services, I want to switch it to my local Canadian carrier's CSC, Fido (FMC), without rooting. How do I go about accomplishing this?
Thanks in advance.
Can't. It only has the 3 main South Korean carriers CSC loaded, SK Telecom, kt Olleh, and LG U+. You can use the stock CSC app to switch between those 3 but it will wipe the phone when you switch that way.
Because the CSCs are on the /system partition there is no way to change them to have different/extra providers than what are possible on a given device without root. Since the N950N is only in South Korea, there are no stock Odin-flashable firmwares for it other than South Korean firmware from each of those providers. N950F is released in many countries around the world, so they have more options since Odin will let them flash any N950F firmware from any provider/country since the model is exactly the same, but there are no other options for N variants.

Thanks for the clarification. I just checked Updato for the list of providers the SM-N950F supports, and it appears there's still no Canadian CSC variant out of the 500+ available:
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?exact=1&q=SM-N950F
So, rooting seems to be the only option for getting a 256GB Eyxnos Note 8 to work with Carriers here in Canada, oh well....
Is there a 256GB variant of the SM-N950F? Or is this SM-N950FD variant also compatible with all them SM-N950F CSCs?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah there won't be a Canadian CSC for an F variant because the Canadian variant is W I believe.
I have not seen a 256gb F/FD variant, but as far as i understand they are the same model as far as Odin is concerned. I have seen posts of a Hong Kong model that is 256gb but I think it is a 9500 which is Snapdragon, and the only other 256gb model is my N950N Korean variant (which is Exynos, and happens to be identical hardware to the F variant which is handy for ROM use).
How can I root and change my N950N CSC to the Chinese version which is CHC.

N9600 - Samsung Pay + Verizon CDMA support

Hey guys,
I want to get a N9600, because I want the Snapdragon and the extra LTE bands, but I also don't want to have to choose between Verizon support and Samsung Pay.
After reading every post I can find on the topic, the situation is:
1) If you get a Hong Kong N9600, Samsung Pay works, but VZW CDMA does not
2) If you get a Latin N9600, VZW CDMA works, but Samsung Pay is not supported
3) If you get a Hong Kong N9600 and flash Latin firmware, VZW CDMA remains broken due to some CSC issue that can only be fixed with root
4) If you get a Latin N9600 and flash the Hong Kong firmware, Samsung Pay works, but VZW CDMA breaks
5) You can get VZW CDMA to work on any N9600 if you root it, but knox will be tripped and Samsung Pay will be broken forever
However, I haven't seen anyone talking about the Mexico and Puerto Rico firmwares for the N9600. I have read about some previous generation Galaxy phones with similar issues, and they have been able to get full VZW support on international models, including VOLTE and Wifi Calling, by using the Mexico or Puerto Rico firmwares. Also, Samsung Pay is supported in both of these regions.
So, my questions are:
1) If we take a Latin America N9600 and flash the Mexico or Puerto Rico firmware, will VZW CDMA remain intact?
2) If we take a Hong Kong N9600 and flash the Mexico or Puerto Rico firmware, will VZW CDMA be un-broken? (doubtful)
3) If I am able to source a N9600 that comes from the factory with Mexico or Puerto Rico firmware, will we have VZW CDMA and Samsung Pay out of the box?
BUMP
Worth noting:
I am using a Hong Kong (TGY) N9600 on Verizon. For me, CDMA, LTE, and VoLTE all work after flashing Detonator. I currently use a Latin firmware (N9600ZHS1ASB1) but I am also going to try using the latest Oreo version for the Hong Kong firmware (ASA5).
p.s. if you are rooted (you have to be rooted to use Detonator therefore you have to be rooted to be able to use N9600 on Verizon), then you will lose Samsung Pay. Maybe there is an xposed module, but I don't know about it yet, and I don't know everything. I will keep looking but personally I do not use Samsung Pay so it's not a problem for me.

Flashing Note 9 to USA firmware

Hello all!
I've been doing some good reading but am having some issues... I some how managed to buy a UAE dual sim "internationally unlocked" Note 9 SM-N960F (exynos variant) from the US Amazon. I put the internationally unlocked in quotes as it doesn't appear to be international. My samsung default app are all tied to UAE because of the firmware CSC. I was wondering if there was a guide that would be able to direct me to flashing from UAE to USA unlocked. I looked into SamFirm then also downloaded Odin but I can't seem to get SamFirm to locate and download the USA firmware I need with what I thought was the correct CSC for USA Unlocked.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated thank you!

If it's a dual SIM Exynos, then it IS an international model. You can't just flash the US firmware on it. The US firmware is all for the N960U, and you have a N960F. Won't work.
If you're willing to root and trip Knox, there's some guides on how to make the N960F work in the US, depending on your carrier.
