I was on MIUI 20.8.25 beta (Android 10) by Nebrassy then flashed Octavi OS (Android 11) then when again I flashed MIUI 20.8.25 beta (Android 10) by Nebrassy, my fingerprint sensor seems to be broken. I even tested with the tester app and it displays 'fingerprint not found'.
No idea what went wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.
Update 1:
Tried to restore twrp backup. Sim cards stoped working, I mean detecting.
Update 2 :
Flashed stock rom via miflash tool and now everything seems to be working fine.
You can try the other rom again but flash another kernel. I use the one from awaken os and it works fine.

I read that flashing custom ROMs will mess up this partition and some sensors will stop working. Why do sensors depend on a empty partition??
I experienced this myself after flashing MIUI 8.5 with TWRP.
Then I had to flash MIUI 9.1.1 dev and the sensors started working again.
I want to flash more stuff, because MIUI sucks - the notification system is a huge mess and Volte is not working ...but how can I prevent stuff from breaking again?
I've flashed different versions if MIUI, audio mods and various other crap and I've never experienced this problem...
Well, if you want to try it yourself here is what I did:
- had MIUI 8.2..something initially
- upgraded through OTA to MIUI 9
- unlocked, installed TWRP and rooted
- backed up MIUI 9 and flashed RR with TWRP
- backed up RR and restored MIUI 9 with TWRP, sensors still worked
- flashed MIUI 8.5 with TWRP, sensors stopped working (compass)
- restored MIUI 9 with TWRP, sensors were still not working
- searched google and followed steps here http://en.miui.com/thread-478922-1-1.html
- flashed MIUI 9 dev version in EDL mode, sensors working again
- installed TWRP and rooted again
- flashed RR and Gapps with TWRP, sensors still working yey
so now I'm on RR and it's good, but what if I want to back it up, flash something else and restore it later?
i really don't want to deal with that sensor stuff again
Btw, what is the size of your persist partition? I noticed that the image file from MIUI 9 dev is 4 MB, but in TWRP my persist partition shows 0 MB. And after flashing RR and Gapps it increased to 1 MB.

same for me . I change rom in every 2 to 3 days nothing happened to my device .
Okay, I'm convinced that most of people that are able to help me are already familiar with this problem.
It occured when I've attempted to OTA upgrade my firmware (it was one of MIUI 9 stable versions) as I
have only used OTA before. However I had TWRP (mrraines version) installed and also magisk root
(everything from tutorial on xda, in order to install gcam).
So when I tried to OTA upgrade it stopped almost immediately after beginning with failure message and
fingerprint sensor options dissapeared.
I have an International version of MI MIX.
Since then I have tried:
-full wipe + MIUI 10 global (OAHMIHF) flash (via mrraines TWRP) - it didn't work (error 7)
-MIUI 10 global (OAHMIHF) flash via fastboot (didn't help)
-MIUI 10 global (OAHMIHF) flash via fastboot + newest global firmware (8.12.20) + reverse order
-MIUI 10 global (OAHMIHF) via TWRP (the new version with working decryption) found in this topic:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...y-official-twrp-xiaomi-mi-mix-t3498960/page67
-reflash same firmware for non-global version
-full wipe + MIUI 10 from xiaomi.eu (OAHCNFK) via the same TWRP + non-global firmware (in this exact order)
-after reading this topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix/how-to/miui-9-stable-magisk-xposed-t3705951
I have flashed firmware advised there (8.8.3)
-of course I have tried changing pin/unlock pattern resetting, hard reboots and so on
Right now I'm about to try reflashing the same firmware and MIUI 10.2.1 afterwards. Then perhaps developer version.
I also have full recovery from before upgrade, however it was made after I've attempted to OTA upgrade and failed.
In diagnostic options self test is "FAILED!" and checkerboard test is: "NO RESPONSE FROM SENSOR!"
Aida64 recognizes sensor as FPC.
Can it be related to something I have not yet reflashed? I can't live without fp sensor
Please help!
Okay I have found information that fp sensor problems are caused by persist partition.
However flashing China stable 10.1 in EDL mode didn't fix the issue.
Could anyone post a file for fp sensor that is located in persist partition so I would replace mine?
Thanks in advance
Hi previously i have tried all the roms and all were working properly without any issues then i switched to Stock miui again (Indian Firmware flashed via MiFlash Tool)
then again i flashed twrp and now trying to install custom roms but all roms having the same issue

Try extracting the persist.img file from the latest fastboot ROM, then flash this to the persist partition in TWRP. You'll need a TWRP that can access the persist partition, regular TWRP doesn't allow access to it. LR.Team TWRP should be OK.
Did you try using Android 10 beta? Many people had issues when returning from beta.
Try installing MIUI 10.3.16.0 CN using MiFlash first? Many custom ROMs are based on lastest CN MIUI and using it firmware.
I used my phone with MIUI 11 xiaomi.eu beta 19.12.26 ROM, but a few days ago xiaomi.eu MIUI 12 just came out so I wanted to try it out.
I had twrp which couldn't decrypt the data so I had to change the recovery to the latest orange fox first.
I flashed MIUI 12 straight from recovery but I got bootloop. So I made a format data and wipe dalvik, cache, and data. Then I installed ROM again.
It booted properly to the system and I had to make an initial android setup. The problem was I couldn't make this configuration.
When it comes to adding a fingerprint, it reacts to touch and lights up but it is not reading or saving the fingerprint. And with MIUI 12 you just can't skip this step so there was no way to get into desktop.
So I went into recovery again, made format data and wipe dalvik, cache, and data, and after that, I've installed previous MIUI 11 ROM. Even the next format and wipe right after installation.
MIUI 11 makes you able to skip adding a password and fingerprint so I got into desktop but the fingerprint reader still doesn't work. It is not usable anymore.
Before the MIUI 12 update, it worked flawlessly, even right before update like 5 minutes or so. I never had any issues with it.
So sad
If anyone encountered this problem (fingerprint not working) here is what I did and it worked:
- with TWRP always bootloop - system will not start
- with OrangeFox recovery, system boots but reader not working
So I abandoned Xiaomi.EU and went to https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/pyxis/ and downloaded fastboot ROM of Global Stable. Then I flashed it with MiFlash tool. Now System boots and fingerprint reader works again. It is with stock recovery now.
When it finally worked on global, I tried again flashing Xiaomi.EU but the situation didn't change. On TWRP bootloop, on OrangeFox no fingerprint. So I stay with global for now.
I'm trying to install PixelPlusUI but there doesn't seem to be any working TWRP recoveries or recoveries in general. The closest working one was recovery-TWRP-3.4.2B-1213-REDMI9-CN-wzsx150.img but the touchscreen was not working. I'm on MIUI 12.
Got any tips?
EDIT: This one worked: (had to format data for PPUI to work tho)
