Huawei P30 Pro no longer USB Synching - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

I had my phone, a "Huawei P30 Pro" for about 9 months then at the beginning of the first lockdown (March 2020) I was called to Italy.
After a few days there I started to notice that I was having problems connecting my phone with my PC's & Mac's using Hisuite?
I tried revoking HDB Debugging mode, then re-enabling it, I went through all the recommendations that I found online but nothing worked.
I also uninstalled and reinstalled Hisuite, I reset all settings, I then wiped my phone completely and tried to reinstall it as a new phone hoping that would work,,,,it didn't.
Around about that time I bought a drone to do some ariel photography, I could never get the P30 Pro to recognize the drone it just kept saying that couldn't find/connect to the device, so I tried my partners P20 Pro which connected via the same USB cables I had been trying previously and they worked fine it also worked flawlessly with the drone?
I even went out of my way and bought a 'Huawei P smart Z' to test with and sure enough, it connected and worked perfectly with the drone and USB connection?
Now, even though I had called Huawei support on a few occasions within the warranty period they are now saying that it's out of time and there is nothing they can do.
I called them when I was in Italy during the lockdown where I was there for 9 months looking after my parents.
My thoughts are that it must be the synch port and perhaps tied into something on the logic board as it is not just USB synching but also when connecting 'Bluetooth?' to the drone which is strange as it connects to other Bluetooth devices, my watch, printer, TV, BPM, etc..
I love this phone especially the camera/video side to it but now I can no longer get my work off unless I send it to myself which is really cumbersome when you have 2-3 hours worth of 4K video recordings, which I do often.
The other thing is I really want to use this with my drone but how the heck can I get it to see the device and again I have tried just about everything and used other phones from other manufactures as well as Huawei and all connect/work fine with the drone and USB syncing.
I myself am a bit of a technical sleuth but this one has me hammered.
Is there anyone out there who can perhaps shed some light?
(I am looking for 3 questions answering here.)
1.what is the probable fault?
2.what is the repair solution?
3. how much could it cost?
Thank you
I will also try posting this request out on a few other boards and see what comes back.

HTC Diamond USB error

Hello everyone,
I'm having a problem with my Diamond. When I attach it to a USB port nothing happens. No 'hardware found sound' or what so ever.
I tried several other pc's with no result. It does charge when it is connected and the phone asks whether it needs to be in USB mass storage mode or in Active sync mode. I havent found anyone with the same problem so I'm afraid it is a hardware failure?
I tried:
-Soft/Hard reset
-Several computers/usb ports
-Disable Advanced Network capabilities
Does anyone have some tips that I haven't tried already that could help me out?
Thanks for your time!!
Disable Advanced Network capabilities under USB->PC in your Settings, that should do it.
I tried that also. With no result yet. Any other tips maybe?
First, check your cable for any marks that resemble rabbit bite marks or alligator bite marks.
No, seriously, check the points where the cable goes into the plugs for any obvious signs of damage, then check the cable itself.
Maybe, try using a different cable, if that doesn't work your Diamond most likely has a problem. If the different cable works, your cable is a goner.
Although I think there's quite a small chance that that's it, it's worth trying, right?
Use the 6.1 version of the Windows Mobile Device Center under Vista
Thx for all the tips. I didn't manage to get it working though
When the phone is connected to the charger it asks if I want to use activesync or usb mass storage. A friend of mine has also a diamond and his doesn't ask this. My conclusion is that it is broken
Damn I got this phone as a replacement for my broken K850i from my provider...They will go crazy when they see me again
Hi,
I have the same problem.
My guess is that it all started with a non compatible charger.
When charging it asked for active sync or disk.
After that the problems started, active sync doesn't work anymore.
Sometimes it workes when advanved networking is off.
Tested on different pc's, freshly installed.
Complete factory settings, notting works.
If synchronised by bluetooth it works.
I'm affraid i have to send the phone back for repairs and trow away the bad charger.
I never used a 3rd party charger.
Is there a way to update the firmware via bluetooth?? Because i'm still using the old slow version...
Same problem here. I've used my tomtom USB car charger. Is this a guarante matter, or do i have to pay for the repair?
You may have set the default connection to other than ActiveSync when first seeing the pop-up.
Go to 'Settings' 'Connections' and select 'USB to PC'.
Ensure ActiveSync is selected.
If you want the pop-up to display when the USB is connected (its good when you want to use your internal micro-SD as a memory stick), check the box at the bottom. You can select ActiveSync, Memory or PC Modem from when it appears on connection but when you just ignore it, it will perform whatever default selection you wanted last and then dissappear.
If all else fails perform a hard reset!
I've tried /soft/hard reset. No luck..
Can this be a hardware related fault, or could a ROM flash resolve the problem?
Transfering video files via BT is a pain in the a*s...
i would try a flash before returning it. You can probably dl an official 1.93.xxx.xx from htc and try that. You don't need hard spl and all that for those ROMs.
I have the same problem:
no connection at all from the PC-side. The Diamond comes up with the ActiveSync/Discdrive question and starts charging, but nothing else.
I did use external chargers that also trigger the ActiveSync/Discdrive question.
Update:
Oops, it seems fixed after a soft reset.
Same problem, diamond would not connect to PC.
Solution: Warranty repair---> they changed the motherboard, and everythings is good. Everything was free.
Edit: But now I have a different problem. I connect diamond in to PC, everything is good, but about 30 seconds after, mobile center looses the diamond, and sync won't work. Any solutions?
I have the same problem before. My Diamond USB cannot be recognised by the PC. Took back to repair and now working. But one PC still cannot recognize the diamond. The service centre told me they have reset my unit and when came back, everything has been cleared. I suspected a full reprogram of the ROM.
I have the same problem
I cant have any connection to the PC
so, no solution but the service people
USB Connection ERROR
I have the same problem. No computer seems to be able to connect to my P3700. I tried DL new ROM but I don`t know where my device came from. On HTC site from HK, which is the only one where I found a neutral Diamond with no carrier associated like, Sprint , Telus, or the like, its says The ROM Code can only be updated on HTC Touch Diamond Hong Kong English Version Device
Does anybody have a clue how to find out where my device was originally intended to be marketed? My ROM is 1.93.456.2 WWE dated July-10-2008? Do the the numbers 456.2 mean anything?
Help is highly appreciated!!
change your usb wire..

I already did. The first few times the problem occured it worked. I have 6 different USB wires and they all cause the problem. When I hook up my HTC Touch, they all work well!?
Won't sync with PC
Hi,
I have the same thing where it won't sync with any PC and i've tried all the "other" fixes and I've sent it to the service people to have a look.
Thing is, because I thought it was an issue with the usb connector I thought I would have a poke around with it myself and i could see one of the prongs looked like it wasn't making contact. To cut a long story short whilst i was trying to fix it the plastic tab in the mini usb connector came out completely
Service people are now saying that I've abused the handset and want to charge me £70 to fix it. Now to be fair, I have made it worse, but in my defense it was only because a fault had occurred that I started to dabble.
I also reported to the service people that the led light under the "end call" button had stopped working completely. This was definiatley not due to miss use.
I'm wondering if this led is on the motherboard like the usb connector is. If so, can i be cheeky and just ask them to fix the led and not the usb? but by default because the m/b would be swapped out then the usb would be fixed anyway?
If you looked at my phone it looks well cared for (which it was!!!) and its not like I've hammered it in anyway.
Anyone have an opinion or know if the led for end call and the usb port are both on the motherboard?
Thanks

Car connection

Just received this, coming from an S8+. Problem being when trying to connect to my car via USB, I've used the original cord and it recognises initially but then stops charging. Other phone is fine and I need to use android auto, don't want to take it back but it's a key feature I use. Anyone else experience this?
You are talking about Android Auto? The Huawei phones have a long history of incompatibility with that. Looks like the P20 Pro made a big enough splash to attract attention from Google though, as they are apparently looking in to making it compatible.

Not sure if it's even just an Android Auto issue as when connecting via USB it doesn't stay connected, it's weird.
Same problem for me...
Sometimes AA stop working and the P20 pro stop charging.

Carplay connection

Hi all,
I've recently bought a SUNE carplay for my car, and after I've struggled putting everything in place (so many wires and 2 boxes just to reproduce your phone basically ) ), the phone doesn't connect .
It comes automatically with android auto, which is required by the carplay unit.
Now, I have the build 10.0.0.186, with usb debugging activated, original+aftermarket cable.
I've asked the support guys, and they've sent me a video with a P30 working on their unit. Now, that P30 pro was from Taiwan or something (sorry, I don't know their language), but the build version was 10.0.188, and model was VOG-AL10 (mine is VOG-L09). Would this make a difference?
As an important note, when I took my wife's phone, Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, worked straight away. No android auto to check, or something; it connected automatically (such a shame, I really like my P30 pro ).
Do you have any suggestions of what I should/can try to make it work?

Android Auto in Norway

I have big time trouble connecting my A12 Android Auto to my brand new BMW iX3. My Oneplus Nord connects flawlessly, the A12 does not. On Samsungs website I read that Norway is not among the countries allowing Android Auto (https://www.samsung.com/ie/support/...fficulty-connecting-to-or-using-android-auto/), could that the reason?
I cannot believe that.
I live in the Netherlands and we are also not in the list and we can use AA without any problem, but, your phone AND carsystem will have to connect with each other.
It sounds more that your A12 does not have the right software for it.
Go to apkmirror site and download the AA software and install on your phone.
I have downloaded the latest version from Google Play, isn't that version as good as the apkmirror-versions? My A12 connects OK with the car when it comes to hand free phone operations over Bluetooth, but when trying to establish AA, the car says "The connection failed. Check both the Bluetooth and WLAN settings on the mobile unit". Both BT and WLAN are active on the phone, and during the process an AA logo splashes on the mobile screen.
Edit: I have downloaded and installed Android Auto 6.8.613323 which I suppose is the lastest release. Same result
Ah, now i get it.
I had a Nokia 7plus and my radio-unit worked, This summer i switched to a new Nokia X20 phone, and had the same error.
After switching the car-cable with the cable that came with the new Nokia, it suddenly worked.
So try to use the cable that came with the new phone, instead of the old cable from the previous phone.
Thanx for the tip, elot01! I switched the cable to the one that came along the A12, but nothing happens when connected to the car USB except from battery charging and the option to transfer files. I am in contact with Samsung support, and so far they have been helpful. But they have not been able to solve my problem yet.
Once they have, I will post the solution here. But any tip for the forum community is highly welcome.
Samsung has given up and redirected med to Google since "this is a 3rd party SW". I haven't managed to find any Google support center to contact, but I have figured out the problem myself.
I want to have a wireless AA, and it seems like this is only supprted with handsets capable of dual band wifi, ie. 2.4 and 5GHz. The Samsung Galaxy A12 only support single band (2.4GHz).
So there goes my A12 back in its box to be placed in some drawer and forgotten. A low-priced telephone, but still a waste of money
A tip to Google/Samsung: Why not display a message saying "Android Auto is only supported on dual band wifi mobiles" when only 2.4GHz is supported?
If you want wireless, also take a look at Carsifi (still in Kickstarter) or AAWireless (former kickstarter).
Then you don't need a new phone

If you want a dongle slamming aroud in you car occupying one USB-port this solution is probably OK. But it's much easier to spend the 85$ extra on a mobile with dual-band wifi.

P30 PRO not working Android Auto - Wired

Hello,
I have a Huawei P30 Pro sw EMUI 12.0.0.134(C461E1R1P2) VLOG-L29 and I cannot connect to Android Auto (Mercedes Benz). the problem must be an incompatibility of P30 PRO since the AA works fine with other Phones.
I've reset Mem&cache of AA App, updated the AA SW version and the other Apps. Also testing developer AA menu optons.
I have come to connect sometimes with difficulty to AA car but I am not able to find a pattern so that it works well continuously. When I try to connect again it doesn't work.
My AA version is 8.3.624134.
I am surprised that there is no posts about it since I imagine that Huawei phones will have many compatibility problems with AA.
Anybody can help me?
BR
Jorge
Works fine with Dacia AA(wired). Don't have a MB to test...same version AA
Did it work with EMUI 11?
Now I can connect. I've done three actions:
1. Buy a new official cable.
2. Update all the Apps. It's important that Google assistant works well.
3. In developers menu, tick on developer mode.
Now AA works fine but sometimes it disconnects. Maybe I have to revise battery savings App conf., or the screen must be ON all the time. I don't know ..
I've used P30 pro for both wired and wireless AA without any problem for more than year. So .
- You dont need official Huawei USB cable, any decent cable will do. I believe that was your problem, bad cable
- Updating all apps is in general good thing to do, but it doesn't influence connection with AA at all
- Forget developers mode, please . No need to think about it, and you actually may harm your phone by playing with it. It doesn't have any influence on AA
Enjoy AA in your vehicle

I completely agree with your appreciations. I’ve forgotten using developers mode and it seems to work. I bought a high quality cable and I cleaned the USB-C connector.
Currently I only have a problem: disconnections every few minutes (variable from 2-10 minutes). I am testing some things: AA permissions, non Battery savings, always on of the screen … but I can't find a pattern. Any idea what can be the problem? Does it happened the same to you with your P30 PRO wired to AA?
BR
I've switched to S22U last two months, so i cant share fresh experiences, but i can say that i haven't had any disconnection issues while P30p was not moving while connected to car.
But, when i moved phone for any reason, it would lost connection occasionaly. I've concluded that was caused by weak connection, and haven't investigated it further.
well, In my case it seems to be a cabling problem. I bought 2 high-quality cables, 1-meter long and 2-meter long. I had tested the shorter one. This morning I tested the longest one and my P30 isn't able to connect AA.
I'll buy a shorter cable (0,3 or 0,5m) in order to test again..
