Question What app for notification led? - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Hello, I was using the holey light app on my S10.
I understand that holey light no longer works on Android 11.
I just got an S21 Ultra.
Which app (free or paid) can do the same?
I want a permanent black screen (even on a new notification, no AOD, no clock) with only the edge of the camera illuminated.
If possible the application using as little battery as possible.
Thank you all.

It would not be a bad idea to go on that link, log in and post your demand to make good lock available for all the countries. Even if there are others who posted the same, add your voice to them.

If goodlock isnt available in your region, you can use finelock or nicelock. That's how I do it

Are they the same? I think they are different

I don't want the aod to show up when a notification comes in, or the aod to be a black screen (I believe that was the trick with holey light).
Are you sure that aodnotify can display a totally black screen (no aod no clock) just the light notification and that it only disappears if I erase it or read it

nicelock & finelock are two different apps which do exactly the same thing. so you can choose which one you use. i personally use finelock

Edit: Actually, looks like its just a black screen, because the fingerprint sensor also turns on

android 4.2 lockscreen changes

The lock screen in android 4.2 is a lot different now we all know about the ability to have widgets on the lock screen. Apparently Google has changed the way to unlock to camera and Google Now.
To unlock to camera swipe from right to left will open up the camera (much quicker than the previous option)
To unlock to Google now on the lock screen there will be a little dot for the hidden home button you swipe up like you normally do.
In this video(Italian) it shows that towards the 3:52 mark.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9hYuiYFzCI&feature=youtube_gdata_player
These changes were implemented by Google so that if you have a password set for your lock screen you can still access the camera and Google now.
Edit:also shown in this video. You can see that your clock widget can be different from stock. So now android is even more customizable.

Edit 2: this video shows the beauty of the device in utmost clarity;its also in Italian again

Edit 3: another HD video of nexus 4 and widgets in Italiano
Edit 4: HD blog has put up a full review which also show lock screen widgets enjoy

Google announced 4.2 would finally have unlock to camera option for users using a pattern lock so I don't think it is gone. Although I'm not sure how it is accessed.

I wonder if these italian nexi have a newer version of android.. the american reviewers never showed even a glimpse of the new lock screen because it hadn't been properly implemented yet in the pre-release software.
Maybe it's just the "+" function that doesn't work yet on all devices.
EDIT: The HDblog video pressed "+" and everything was working fine. Weird.
EDIT 2: Atached image of HDblog's software information. Someone please verify if its different or the same. The kernel's the same i think.

I believe the Italian reviewers got their nexus 4's from lg Italy which probably had a version where lock screen widgets were working.

Brilliant, i hope this also fixes the throttling and battery issues.
Have any of these Italian preview/reviews done battery tests on that sexy, sexy beast of aphone yet? I've been looking for benchmark tests (i don't believe in them, just wanted to see if anything changed in the new version) on the websites from those videos but to no avail.
Nice! Nexoos!
I'm cool with lockscreen widgets and all (I seriously am), but doesn't multiple screens on a lock screen pretty much negate what the lock screen is for, and that is to prevent accidental finger input? How possible is it that I could possible swipe to the camera by accident or my Gmail widget by accident and start shooting off some commands?
As a fan of customization, I'm pretty stoked for this, but I think this feature makes Android a little "busy". I don't think lock screen widgets with multiple pages were that necessary considering the normal home screens where widgets should reside were just an unlock away.

Its meant to view your inbox or calendar but when you click on them it won't head into your email. The camera is a swipe to find it and I doubt there will be any accidental swipes into the camera.

Best AOD (even better then Samsung)

Hi to all,
Huawei have very bad AOD, it doesn't have any information only time. I found this AOD that have so much settings and very, very, useful.
- AOD (time, calendar, weather),
- Notification (when you get messages on som application like Viber it shows Viber icon, you can touch icon and read message on AOD without unlock it),
- Blacklist app - app you dont want to show on AOD,
- Duble tap to wake, swipe up for camera and etc...,
- Edge lights for notifications,
- Background for wallpaper,
- Adaptive mod,
- Font style,
- Music Controls,
- Automatic move clock,
- And many more settings...
Name of app: Allways on Amoled Edge Light

* I havent test batter drain of this application.
p.s. this is not my application i just found it. All the best, enjoy
Hmm... Looks pretty sweet. I will definitely give it a try. It is odd that the Huawei features are so... thin. I mean, why wouldn't they at least give you the ability to toggle notification icons for just a few common apps?
I tried this and the battery drain is high even with just the digital clock on.
Yeah, I said the same in the other thread. It was using 1% in around 10 - 15 minutes and I hadn't even turned on proximity detection.
I used it for half a day. But he consumes a lot of charge. I do not recommend.
Yeah I noticed my battery draining pretty fast too. However I still think this app is pretty cool and worth it, especially over the crappy native AOD... As my phone still gets through a full day usually.
Though if I think I'm gonna have a day of heavy phone use or I'm travelling or something, I'll just disable it.
I'm using this one, which is very good as well.

I think there's nothing which can be done about battery, whatever app you use it will always drain something.

It does if you configure it properly. And yeah, there were problems with notifications showing up on the M20 Pro (and I suppose onother EMUI 9 phones as well), but they have been fixed in the meantime.
Must admit I just use it during the day and when I put my phone on the wireless charging pad...just like all other aod apps, it just consumes too much battery to be taken in consideration for constant use (the dev himself doesn't advise to use it this way either). I guess devs can't do nothing about it, it's just the way it is with aod.

Built in AOD consumes very little power but a third party app version doesn't have elevated system privileges so it's going to eat battery like crazy to keep itself open and running.
It's similar to why built in SMS uses very little power but an app like Facebook Messenger is a notorious battery hog.

Notification light/aod

Im used to the led light on my previous samsung phones. The s10 doesn't have one but people were asking samsung to implement the camera cut out light, others made apps and one that was interesting that was the AOD would activate only when there was a notification to open.
As im looking to switch to the s10, are there news on the implementation of the notification light or new apps? Do the current apps work well?
Thank you!
If you're only looking for an LED notification, Samsung has updated the Edge Lighting + settings within the Good Lock app to create an notification ring to display around the camera cut out. I have it set on my phone and it performs exactly to my liking.

I have read and seen videos on it when it was released but it only worked for a few seconds when the notification showed up and didn't keep "blinking" like the led/until you seen or open the notification. Its still like that right?
I'm not 100% sure about that. I rarely see my notifications right away and generally check my phone when I get back to my desk when at work.
Holey Light on the play store...
I have read that holey lights uses quite a bit of battery, i wanted something that didn't use as much.
There was this AOD app that would only show when there was a notification but i don't know how well it works

Notifications on the AOD?

Coming from a samsung mobile, i was just wondering if there is any way to get notifications like on the samsung mobiles on the AOD screen, instead of the just red tintet clock, and the 2 analogue clocks?
Bump
Go back to Samsung. This phone has no dev work. We will never have a proper aod.
+1, came from Samsung and I miss the options it had for AOD, would also be cool if we have more digital clocks AOD options instead of the red lines garbage we have now

Yes, it's very good and all but the problem with it is that it takes a lot of battery in a very short amount of time, as the screen is "on" all the time in the battery consumption settings.

Question Rear display

In the leaked videos, the user was able to show the homescreen with icons on the rear display. Was that any early MIUI version option only?
In the current firmware, it's not possible... Laybe later?
Anyway, I don't see myself using an app on it, it's really small for that, + it'd require UI changes from the devs...

I would like to use it to answer with speaker or decline calls. Also use it for quick responses to text.
I have noticed I can skip songs on the Spotify playlist when it's playing by accidentally touching the rear display
( I haven't found anything useful to do with it yet tbh and I hope they improve the functionality of it )
Ohh nice! As of now it's pretty early, I'm sure they'll add those little things during updates

I haven't found any way to enable that home screen in rear panel but I haven't been trying either tbh
I don't think I'm getting the red notification light on the rear display either like it shows in the Xiaomi presentation vids but maybe I just need to enable it somehow
I usually don't set my phone's with the screen facing downwards on tables anyway so it's got limited usefulness to me anyway whether it works or not

The latest update to the 'Rear Display' app breaks the red notification indicator as far as I can tell.
But to enable it/change appearance
go to settings>special features>rear display.

I'm on the EU 12.5.3 and I like it but I think I have no red light flashing on the back screen for notifications although it is enabled in the settings...
One of the issues is the rear screen can only stay on for 30 seconds max which maybe why people think the notification is not working properly ( because you would have to double tap to see it even if it is working properly)
And who likes to set their phone face down anyway? These screens are fragile and very expensive !
Honestly think they just had a screenshot of their home screen and made it the image I never actually seen anyone able to use the mini screen
Yeah they haven't ironed the kinks out pertaining to the rear display.
Out of the box, I had the red led indicator show up although it would be there even when I had no notifications.
I like it as a novelty feature but they really need to address the functionality bit.
