As I couldn't find any Daydream for my finally arrived Nexus 7 Dock which fulfills all my needs, I started developing my own one. I'm quite happy with the result and present you:
Lucid - DayDream Screensaver
The main screen of the screensaver is the clock view, which you can see in the 1st attached screenshot. Besides the moving clock & date it can also show:
battery level
weather
unread GMails
missed calls
new SMS texts
next alarm
Also, you get buttons at the bottom to:
toggle night-mode (dim the screen)
start RSS view (3rd screenshot)
start Slideshow view
play/pause music (not every music app is supported)
You can change nearly every color/text size from the configuration screen. On Android 4.2, you'll find the Daydream in the Android settings app -> Display -> Daydream. For older versions, there is a launcher icon in your app drawer and the app can automatically start when the device is connected to a power source or placed in a dock.
The app comes as a trial version, in which the use of the daydream is limited to 30 minutes. You can purchase the full version from an in-app option for a fair 0.50 EUR / 0.99 USD.
Download: Play Store
The screensaver should work with every 4.0+ device, however I could only test it on my Nexus 4 & 7. So if you have any issues, let me know

Hi j4velin,
I purchased your app.
Just 2 things :
When i purchase, the only thing that changed is "Purchase App" disappeared.
Is this correct / ok ?
Secondly, if i want to change date format, can i make it into
dd.MMM, YYYY or something like that ?
thanks

it also removed the 30 min limit on the daydream, but that's currently all. and i'll maybe implement some premium-only features in the future

yes, but use small "y" for the year. you can find all available identifiers here: http://developer.android.com/reference/java/text/SimpleDateFormat.html
Great work will be awesome for my gnote 10.1 thanks for the hard work.

Hi, thanks for the build.
- first good news. After installing new apk, When going to the modules - night mode, everything is working fine.
- now the bad news - when i selected checkbox (checkbox was hidden behind text darken to 0%" ), screen went off. Now i'm not able to disable checkbox ;-(. When i'm going again to the night mode plugin - screen is going off.
- how to delete application settings without loosing license data?

okay, i'll change that again in the next version. you should be able to delete the apps data in the Android settings, it should restore your license automatically
edit: attached another version which gives you a 3 seconds countdown before actually turning the brightness to 0%

perfect. 3 seconds is quite short time.. but i can handle it.
Thanks very much for support.

P.S. automatic dimming based on the light in Lux is nice feature. i like that.
P.S.S. When changing value of a Lux and i'll put 5.0 and after that delete, delete, delete (to have empty value). Application stops responding.
I just started using this last night. One thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem to update notifications when they come in while the daydream is opened. It only shows the one's it knows about when launched. Is it just me? If not, is there any way to change this?
i recently purchased your app and I love it but is there any way you would be able to have lucid daydream set as default action when it is docked, currently when i dock my phone i get a "Complete action using" pop-up before you app starts. It would be great if you added this to your app, I've added a picture to show what pops up.

what Android version do you use? does Lucid actually start when you dock your device? have you rebooted once?
Great app but the cpu usage is always used to its maximum. Also I'm missing one function . I don't want my phone to be turned on while night so it would be great if You would add some options to disable Your app between set time.

another request from me. On Slcd display it's setting brightness on maximum when Daydream is activated.
Can it not change brightness?

when not using the "night-mode", the app should set the display brightness to 10% if it's not already darker. when using the night mode you can set it to 0% on supported devices
Thank you for this!
Seems nice, willing to take a try.
Please disable lockscreen as in the android clock day dream. One of my primary uses is as a screen saver where I don't have to unlock I can just swipe the screen. Why would you need screen lock if it's on a charger/docked.
Thanks. Best daydream app so far. Worth the money

Where is AM/PM?
So where exactly is the option for AM/PM? This is usually "t" or "tt" but I noticed that your App seems to have left this out, although not all of us are in the military NOR do we venture outside our "box" so we need to know if it is DAY or NIGHT without looking outside.
Can you please add this?
Thanks.
:fingers-crossed:
As you can see I did search this topic...can't even find an answer on google. Which worries me...
Often, I'll swipe down from the notification bar which turns the app I'm viewing, if capable, into a multi window view. This is incredibly annoying. Coming from the Note 4, there was a quick toggle (or in settings) to turn this off. I can not seem to find how to turn this function off with the S6. Any help out there?
I was just going to post the same question How the hell do you turn off that annoying multi view crap?
I wanna know this as well and how do I turn off the lightof the back and the cent button also?

I mean the back button and recent button, it lights up as soon as you touch the screen, there was an option to turn this off in S5.

I do have root...so this will take remove the multi window? Considering we just got twrp I may just wait for a custom ROM lol
I found the new MultiWindow gesture pretty annoying. On my S6 every time I swept down on the notification bar using one hand I'd always create a floating window. On other Galaxy devices there is a Quick Toggle to turn the MultiWindow feature off/on. The ability to control the feature is still in the S6 however it is not exposed in the user interface. I wrote a small application that can either enable/disable MultiWindow or bring back the MultiWindow Quick Toggle. It was primarily written for the Galaxy S6 however it should work on most of the devices that include Samsung's MultiWindow. Look for "MultiWindow Toggle for Samsung" on the Play Store.

Hi,
Can anyone help me enable Upside down rotation on a rooted Note 8?
In the wireless charging doc i need to put it upside down because of a ring on the back, and it would be great if the lock-screen and everything could rotate accordingly.

I tried 2 "rotation control" apps, Android P rotation, Rotation orientation manager. Only the last one allows upside down orientation, and it does not work for the lockscreen, which is what i was looking for.

Is wish it were that easy. They stopped allowing upside down rotation for phones about the same time they got rid of buttons, i guess to not confuse the user, but i would still want to have that choice.

Thanks, it works for the lock-screen but it has some weird interactions. The lock-screen closes in less than 3 seconds, and when you reopen it, it's upside down . It does not work for the AOD.
Do you know of a way to keep the lockscreen on for more time? I have the lock set to 1 minute, but the screen turns from lockscreen to AOD in less than 5 seconds.

Yeah, sorry i haven't used that app for a few years, stopped using it when it wouldn't scale landscape home screen correctly.
You could try using the s9 "launcher" maybe it will interact better with the rotation app..... but be aware in my experience message/email etc badges don't show at all (on icons), so definitely not a great solution....but that launcher does have built in rotation.....just not 180 i believe. Also if i remember right the setting in tw settings also enables lock screen rotation...again not 180 but might cooperate better with app.

Only other thing i can think of would be a Smali edit to the stock launcher to allow for 180....you might find something in the TW Mods thread..

Hi. Been playing about with phone and seen that there is orientation option under the AOD settings. Choose Landscape or Portrait. But it doesnt seem to do anything, unless im being a dumbass. Does anyone have any idea?
Yes, it does what it says....clock in portrait or landscape. If you double tap the clock, it gives the rotation option and AOD brightness (if you have auto turned off )

interesting. I'm on Verizon and the latest update as of the 8th. Can't screenshot it from the lock screen I don't think, but I'll try and grab a pic that it's real.

Cheers. Even uninstalled rotation control app in case it was conflicting but still wont do it. Even tried routines to toggle it and nothing. I will have a play, sure it must something im doing. ?
How can I toggle the AOD to be completely off? This is driving me nuts. I'm aware of the settings within the Motion Sense area of settings. The "show when nearby" seems to take, however no matter what I do the clock still appears no matter what as an AOD. I've tried disabling the following in different combinations to no avail:
Motion Sense
com.google.oslo
Pixel Ambient Services
com.google.intelligence.sense
Motion Sense Bridge
com.google.android.apps.motionsense.bridge
Even tried the clock app itself
com.google.android.deskclock
Whenever these are initially disabled it seems to work for a minute or so but then the clock pops back up on the AOD. I just want the toggles to work! This is for when I'm driving and my my phone is mounted where it faces me. I already have 2 clocks in my car and don't need a third it's more of an annoyance than anything else.
Do you have Always On disabled in the Lock Screen settings?

Search for "always on" in settings and turn it off
display / lockscreen / always on - does not exist
Searching for "always on" yields no results.
I don't have a lock screen set as I don't need it, though I did try setting one temporarily to see if the option showed up, but nothing. That's how I used to do it on my note but they moved everything around on 10.

You really don't have always on under..settings/display/advanced/lock screen display....then scroll to the bottom??
Display, scroll all the way to the bottom, select lock screen display, bottom third of the screen you'll see Always on, toggle it off. You can still have it light up by tapping, lifting, or triggered by soli, in any combination if you wish.
edit.. Ninja'ed me Badge, it's there, he just missed it.

With everything re-enabled and a hard reboot, I set a screen lock. Then went back to display and the "lockscreen" option was now available. I turned off AOD and then disabled the screen lock and it took. No more clock.
It seems as though the AOD toggle being buried in the lock screen options, which is only available when one is on will take no matter of a lock screen is set. So every time I want to change this I have to go through this process. I wish there was a Quick Settings shortcut for this.

Well it's not exactly meant to be toggled on and off often like the ones in the Quick Settings pulldown menu. The easiest and quickest way is just searching "Always on" in settings and you can actually toggle it right there as seen in the screenshot.

Also if you are not using the active edge for anything critical you might try button mapper by flar2 and see if one of the options can be set to it. Or maybe even on of the other options in his app will apply it.

I don't now and have never had a lock screen enabled on my phone and can and have always been able to enable or disable always on display. Unless you disabled some app affecting this as mentioned above it should be there for you too just as it is for the rest of us. You may want to look into that and see what's hanging you up.

I haven't been able to do it since it was virgin out of the box, the option just isn't there. Doing it on my old Note 8 was super easy it was right where it was supposed to be. Although I have found a workaround for anyone on the off chance I'm not the only one experiencing this.
Being rooted, I downloaded ShortcutMaster and used the app explorer and poked around until I found;
[Setup Wizard]
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard
tap and scroll down to;
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard.alwaysondisplay.AlwaysOnDisplayOptInActivity
Choosing [launch] triggers the screen from inital setup to toggle the AOD.
Set it as favorite, or Homescreen (on the paid version)
Launch Shortcut master each time to change it or use the homescreen icon shortcut.
The setting seems to take each time I've done it so far.
