Hi guys,
I'm running android 9 ui 1.0 with root on my note9 n960f Exynos and want to update to android 10 ui 2.5.. And i'll be honest with everything that's gone on last year, with a 2 month stint in hospital - due to having covid and then with all the bull**** with job etc.. I not 100% in thinking I can remember what to do - so thought ask first. I was going to try Official Lineage CFW but if anyone suggest anything else(happy to check) Also can someone point me to correctly updating phone, is it flash stock 10 ui 2.5 first then the CFW or can I go straight to CFW.. Sorry for such a Derp question, but I been told I can update straight from 9 but hear says " OVER FULLY STOCK ANDROID 10 FIRMWARE " so guessing that right ! and also that with no root then? Sorry guys, but my note 9 my baby till maybe a Note 20 Ultra when contact out in 8 months. and on top of everything else - I don't want a bricked phone ;( Any help most welcome guys .. many thanks !!

So you are running a rooted custom rom now?
Technically you should be able to install a new custom rom ... but ... best to check the rom thread of the new custom rom you want to flash.
And stick to the recommended installation method. Usually in one of the first posts of that thread.

Hey guys,
For a while we are all waiting for the official Android 10 update.
But I'm feeling kinda tired of waiting for it. I am not a person that flashes new roms, new software frequently. That's why I'm looking for a custom Android 10 ROM which has no major bugs and can take me a couple of months without flashing any new ROM.
Which custom Android 10 ROM would you suggest?

It is supposed that Android 10 will arrive in the second or third week of December, please don't ask me how I know this or where did I get the information, I'm basing this in previous upgrades for the MI A1s and MI A2s.

the latest official android version for our device is android 6.0.1 which is recent enough to support 99% of apps and i recommend you to go for it but there is a note fe port by anar to android 7.0 which has a few bugs but stable enough and android 9.0 versions which are not samsung ports but they are very close to real android versions like on google pixel
you failed to mention what model you have
and there are 2 huge forums to explore and learn about your Snapdragon and/or Exynos models
for either of them the note 4 has android variants up to pie (9)
if you are in unofficial, custom roms
Thank you so much guys. I found a port version of note 7 and it's perfect. Obviously without finger unlocking but everything is ok with the apps I need to use. I searched the forum for the Windows application "samfir" I put my model n910c and installed the current firmware 6.01 ZTO and then looked for the TWRP and so the update was actually completed. Many thanks guys for the tips and advice
Hello. First I'd like to get the facts straight.. I've never updated my phone and by this I mean my A2 is running factory image of Oreo 8.1 with September 2018 securty patch.. The reason why I never updated is simply because it was running fine and so no need to update and battery life is outstanding with 9hour Sot on average usage. But now I get occasional lags in Chrome after updating apps from play store.. I saw lags in android 10 official update as well in my friend's A2. So, I want to move to custom rom to fix lags and move away from too much Google dependency.. But since this is my first time flashing a/b device.. Can anybody give me the detailed step by step process of how to flash as I don't want to ruin it and spent extra time fixing it. I get very little time outside of office.. Also, just in case I don't like it, can't I go back to stock rom version of oreo and not android 10? I'd like to thank everybody in advance who would like to help me out.. Thank you very much.. btw I'm aware of flasing, twrp and stuff as I used to flash in redmi note 3 and 7 pro and other devices but new to a/b

Hello,
i've put in the old days and Android 9 Custom (52.0.A.11.3), can't remember which one.
I have now seen that there are official releases for Android 10 custom roms.
In the various rom thread, I've seen that there is need to get back to official Android 10 and to boot it.
What is the best option for me?
If I manage to upgrade, will I be able to move back and forth between them to give a try ?
Can all of them be considered as daily drivers ?
And final question, shall I do that, of is Android 9 still a good choice ?
Thanks a lot
the oldest version of android i have used personally was 2.2.3 on a HTC wildfire.
The oldest I've used is Android 4.0 Jellybean and I still use to this day
2.1 on an LG shine plus plus then 2.2 on an HTC desire. About 11-12 years ago now.
HTC Dream 1st Android phone ever
Android 1-1.6
Android 4.0.3 on S3 CDMA
Android 4.1.2 on Galaxy Tab 2 GT P3100
Android 4.4 on Panasonic P55 Novo (still using)
Android version I use on daily basis :
Android 6 on Lenovo Tab 3 10 Plus TB3-X70L
my buddy Cliff posting about that Android goodness on my old site
5.1.1
Android 2.3.6 Samsung Galaxy Y
when I was 12 years old then I did put CM7 on that Galaxy Y...still alive to this day almost 10 years old
The highest:
Android 10 Q Huawei P30
And now:
Android 5.0.1 Galaxy S4
2.3 Gingerbread, Motorola DROID 1...
Now: Android 12, Samsung Galaxy Note Ultra 5G
It was Android KitKat 4.4. I used it on a old Samsung tablet.

How does that S4 handle modern apps for you ? I have an Asus Nexus 7 with 5.0 Lollipop/Kali Nethunter and it gets really slow and unbearable latency if I try to update any apps or install new-ish ones. It just doesnt have the RAM or the storage (32 gb). I dont recall how much RAM the S4 had but I remember loving that phone until I backed over it. Never even got a chance to root it or install a ROM. Thats pretty impressive that you managed to install CM7 at age 12. I dont think TWRP was even available yet (?). I was more than twice your age when I successfully flashed my first ROM and there were 3 phone corpses in my trash before I managed to root an LG Volt with Flashify. I put the PacMan Rom on it, wish I still had that phone. Congrats on preserving that Galaxy Y .

Answer for ur questions:
How does that S4 handle modern apps for you ?
I use Facebook, Messenger Lite and tmob app only, but good i guess

The 2012 or the 2013 version? I have the 2012 version with CM-14.1 and it can handle the same apps and Minecraft 1.17.41 with 60fps/s
I dont recall how much RAM the S4 had but I remember loving that phone until I backed over it. Never even got a chance to root it or install a ROM.
I tried to install a ROM for the S4 but I bricked it by the unofficial TWRP 3.5 by JDCTeam and I had to restore the stock rom (I tried to install Lineage)
And I dont really recommend installing roms for it..only the official LineageOS 18.1
Thats pretty impressive that you managed to install CM7 at age 12. I dont think TWRP was even available yet (?)
Well I was 12 in 2021 but it was my birthday (october) sooo I'm 13 now lol. TWRP was available for the Galaxy Y (TWRP 2.8.7.0-TWRP 3.0.3)
I was more than twice your age when I successfully flashed my first ROM and there were 3 phone corpses in my trash before I managed to root an LG Volt with Flashify. I put the PacMan Rom on it, wish I still had that phone.
That's nice..but 3 phone corpses?? nevermind..everyone makes a mistake lol
I rooted an LG too (the G3 i guess) because my cousin wanted iPhone emojis on it and complete iPhone theme (still don't know why she cant move on about this )
And for the PAC-Man rom, I love it, but CM is better I guess
Congrats on preserving that Galaxy Y .
Thanks man, I needed the Y.. Good ol' times when it didn't matter what phone did you have

Those wanting to relish in the "good ol 60's" should consider dumping playstore, GMS and putting MicroG instead for performance . One miss out is AFAIK in the latter , Voice typing is missing & cant get that functionality - but def worth a try
