I think it would be necessary to flash these files.
Sometime ago I had tried to install many AB ROMs out of which some worked and others didn't. It seems like hit and trail with bit of luck.
I am back to stock Rom as Android 10 and Miui 12 combination is great with icebox (along with magisk and xposed modules).
Will shift to custom ROMs when official support will end.

Questions regarding xiaoumi.eu ROM

I made the update from stable global to beta global last week, because I needed to unlock bootloader. Now my plan was to wait for the first stable release of Lineage, but I didn't know about Xiaoumi.eu rom and that headphone volume was so bad on this stock (beta) rom...
Now my questions are:
Which partitions have to be wiped before flashing the ".eu" rom?
(Already googled this one on my own, see "EDIT")Are the weekly versions like Beta versions? If yes then would this one be the latest stable rom:
xiaomi.eu_multi_MIMAX2_V8.5.15.0.NDDCNED_v8-7.1.zip
Other than that there shouldn't be any other Things to worry about, right?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: So I googled a bit about the meaning of weekly and I guess it will work well enough for me, downloading this one right now:
xiaomi.eu_multi_MIMAX2_7.10.12_v9-7.1.zip
I couldn't find much about my other questions though..
EDIT 2: I just went the "factory reset" way and wiped data, cache and dalvik and it worked.
No further questions from me.
Were you able to install Xposed on this ROM?

I finally managed to flash xposed-v88.2-sdk25-arm64-test4.zip from the official MIUI 9 Github thread.
I'm on latest weekly MIUI 9 xiaomi.eu rom (7.10.19), which is Android 7.1 with Magisk 14.0. Flashed via iscle's TWRP.
Download for test4 (Android 7.1), Android 7.0 would be this one
Got the downloadlink from here: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=946636&highlight=xposed
I suggest you to read the description in the MI Forum thread. I haven't tested any modules yet, I only know that the framework is active for me and that it disabled SafetyNet.

Thanks man, sadly I the phone still won't boot after installing this updated Xposed version. Here are the steps I did:
Install newest Xiaomi ROM (7.10.19)
Flash TWRP
Install Magisk 14 zip via TWRP
Boot up again to check if Magisk was installed (it was)
Flash V88.2_Sdk25_Arm64 Xposed zip
-> Phone doesn't boot
Did I do a dumb mistake here or sth?

Nope, that's more or less how I did it. But before I flashed this version of Xposed I installed the Xposed Installer. Maybe that's necessary, but I think not.
Can you try out flashing the no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip? I did it for something else earlier and also after every attempt of flashing Xposed.
If I understand it right some Xiaomi phones bootloop after you write to /system, then you have to flash that file to fix it. Xposed writes to /system, so that could be a solution.
Before you flash that research it a little bit more, because I don't know much about this topic and don't want to give you false advice.
EDIT:Did you flash the xposed version from my downloadlink? It is different from the regular 88.2 SDK25, it's a testversion made by the xposed creator specifically for MIUI 9 devices.

How do you update a Project Treble GSI image ?

Hi friends, so there's a lot about installing gsi images on various phones that support project treble but i cannot find anything about how you update them. I installed OmniRom beta3, via fastboot, on my H9L and 3 days later they put out an update. The rom works fine and i set it up to my preference with magisk and it even shows up as Play certified, so all is good. However, with the update I prefer not to go through the whole magisk uninstall/install again. Anyone here knows how you would update an existing gsi images ? If I use fastboot to load the new update wouldn't that erase everything again, as stated on the openkirin.net installation instructions ? or could i jsut fastboot the new beta3.1 over beta3 and just not do a factory reset as recommended ?
Weird everyone writes about installation and no one things about updates ?
thanks.

for me, yes, because one of the most important feature i need is safetynet to pass. Omni was easier to get it to pass safetynet checks (via magisk) then RR. I also like the way Omni implemented the dark theme, obviously all of these are just preferences both roms are good daily drivers.
UPDATE: so i fastbooted the updated img file with stock recovery and did not do any wipes. All was fine including root and certification.

Need persist.img from latest global rom

Camera doesn't film horizontally. I thought the problem is with auto rotate so turned it on but camera still films vertically. Watched some videos but then the screen would stay horizontal even after exiting the video. Did some googling and found out that the sensors are not working and need to flash persist.img. Thanks in advance to whoever can help.

If you want to do that , get the persist.img file from a fastboot rom or flash it via MIFLASH tool.

You must download a FASTBOOT rom and not a ZIP.
Once unpacked Fastboot version let acces to all the rom content.

Hmm on Xiaomi's page are only zip files with stock roms. I don't understand what fastboot rom means. It's the third device I'm rooting and using customs roms etc. So I'm not totally newbie but fastboot rom?? I extracted the boot.img files for flashing it via fastboot. But....
Do you have a source for fastboot roms?

Well, installing custom roms has its own advantages and disadvantages.
(just like everything in life, so get over it)
Personally, I had to install twrp and a new miui ROM, because the message that miui says while updating "Do not power off your phone" was playing with my mind and i pulled the battery off
Then it blacked out and lit up on a screen saying "The system has been destroyed, hold the power button to shutdown"
Imagine how it could be
Either way a custom ROM is better than the default one.
But i dont recommend you to do it now because there might be an issue with SafetyNet right now if you install a custom ROM
You should do much more research before installing custom roms or rooting
What i recommend is that you wait some time more to get this issue out of the way.
P.S.: If you fail safetynet test you wont have any acces to Netflix and most banking apps

But custom rom can be installed without rooting. So then also safety net will not work ?
Google realeased a new update that checks if the bootloader is unlocked
and the only way to lock it after flashing ROMs is to do a complete format and reinstall the original ROM, it replaces twrp or anything else with the original ROM (miui in our case)
So dont install roms
Okay. Thank you. I just wanted a reason not to install. Now is the end of custom rom I think majority will now no more root or install custom rom because of safety net. Copyright, Security & Privacy are now priority in today's world.
Some other members just found the solution but it supports only Android 10 & 11

Eu Rom. Need help

Hi guys, I couldn't find a full guide here. Mostly scrambled. Can anyone Please dm me or write here , a full step guide to shift to eu rom.
Currently I am on the latest global rom V11.0.2.0.QCNMIXM : MIUI 11 : Android 10 .
Previous xiaomi device I owned gave me a headache whenever there was an issue of bootlooping etc that comes with flashing i.e. it was difficult to get back. What's the situation here.
Basically I want to shift to eu rom with magisk etc.
Please suggest most stable kernel, recovery etc and procedure. Appreciate any help , links will be helpful. Thanks a ton. :fingers-crossed:

Yes, Finally Done. Just booted up. Will let you know what all is working etc.
I unlocked bootloader.
Flashed TWRP, using xiaomi adbtool ,
in twrp formatted everything , but not vendor.
Flashed xiaomi eu rom , then again formatter cache and dalvik cahche, and then formatted data ,.
If you don't format data then the device will keep rebooting to twrp.

Which version did you try?
11.0.8.0 was buggy for me but 11.0.11.0 is really smooth, only issue I have with it is that gestures won't trigger the PUP player so I'm stuck with on-screen buttons. Haven't tried their 11.0.1.0 build because TWRP still can't decrypt Android 10 but I've used it on stock and it was still pretty buggy.
Hopefully Xiaomi will patch it and not just release another broken Android 10 build, this time with MIUI 12.

I am using 11.0.10 , I am not going to use twrp to flash anything anymore so... Doesn't matter to me about it.
But I am finding this to be better than stock miui. Feels a bit more smooth , everything seems to be working just fine.

WARNING! This won't work on a bootloader with version U4! Flashing won't work and so you will not be able to use this guide. Unfortunately, you can also currently not downgrade the bootloader, making it impossible to get any custom stuff (custom recovery, custom ROM, etc.) on your device...
Hello there! This is another guide from me here on XDA Developers! Today, I will show you how to install LineageOS 20 on an SM-T290 and SM-T295, and yes, it works on both! Let's get started:
PrerequisitesBut first, make sure you have all of this:
An SM-T290 or SM-T295 tablet
TWRP (v3.7.0 recommended for SM-T290 and v3.5.2 for SM-T295)
Unlocked bootloader
1. Download LineageOS 20 ZIP from here (There stands it is for gtowifi, but it also works on the LTE model).
2. Choose the nightly build for the ZIP, it is very stable even though it is nightly.
3. OPTIONAL BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND: You could also choose the recovery, but that's more like the stock recovery and I recommend you to keep TWRP as it has better features.
4. Download the ZIP that has the format 'lineage-20.0-YYYYMMDD-nightly-gtowifi-signed.zip'
- OPTIONAL: Download the recovery image for LineageOS 20 with the format 'lineage-20.0-YYYYMMDD-recovery-gtowifi.img'.
5. Download MindTheGapps from here.
6. Choose the one with the format 'MindTheGapps-13.0.0-arm64-YYYYMMDD_BBBBBB.zip'
7. Follow the links to download the ZIP file.
8. Place the LineageOS and MindTheGapps ZIP to an SD card or USB drive. If you choose to also take LineageOS recovery, you will also need to place the .IMG to an SD card or USB drive.
9. Insert the SD card or USB drive into your tablet.
10. Boot the device into TWRP.
11. Go to 'Wipe' > 'Swipe to Wipe'.
12. Then go once again to 'Wipe' > 'Format data' > 'Swipe to format'.
13. Go to install, make sure that it is not install image but as flash ZIP!
14. Use the select storage button to choose the storage where the ZIPs are saved.
15. Choose the LineageOS 20 ZIP and swipe to install.
16. Wait until it is done and now install MindTheGapps.
17. Optional step (depending on whether you have the following things):
- Install Magisk (root) ZIP if you have it. You could also do this later on.
- Install LineageOS recovery ZIP if you have chosen to use it. This can also be done later.
17. Click on 'Reboot system' or go to 'Reboot' > 'System'.
18. Wait until the boot is done.
19. Go through the setup, but WAIT! First read the step below.
20. Depending on whether you have LineageOS recovery or TWRP, you need to enable the option 'Auto-update LineageOS Recovery/LOS Recovery' in the setup if you have LineageOS/LOS Recovery and disable that if you have TWRP.
21. Once the setup completed, you are done!
That was easy to follow. Thank you.

I'm not using Gapps, so I just skipped para. 16. I did install Magisk.
Does OTA update work with TWRP, or only with Lineage recovery?

It does work with TWRP. It uses an OpenRecoveryScript. If you have Gapps (which you don't have), you need to reflash them afterwards. Also Magisk needs to be reflashed, but it is much easier to do than the stock!
How does this tablet with LineageOS work now?
Has it become more responsive than the original Samsung ROM or does it continue to suffer from the same exasperating slowness that characterized it?

Hello, thank you for the installation guide. Used my T290 and everything was working perfectly fine... I then decided to use LineageOS for MicroG and also everything ist working...
LineageOS 20 for MicroG:
gtowifi
My other SM-T295 is now on Bootloader5 (T295XXS5CWA1) so I think there is no way anymore to get LineageOS 20 on it. I now ordered a "new" SM-T295, which is supposed to be on Android 9. When I use the Guide above, is the cellular modul and LTE working with the CustomRom? Or should I use the GSI? Why is it such a different between those two devices?

Hello there! LTE will not be included, but you have 2 workarounds:
Make a hotspot over Wi-Fi with your phone or any other SIM device
Use the GSI ROM, which may have support
Well, LTE doesn't work, because of this: LineageOS is made on base of the drivers and packages of the device. And, they are almost the same I think, that's why the other stuff will or should work. But, the SM-T295 also has a driver and/or package for the SIM, LTE and so. And because it was originally made for the SM-T290, instead of an SM-T295, it will not include those drivers and so the support for it. You could try a GSI, although I had issues with it. But I may have done it wrong or so.., I always say: if there is an official custom ROM, use that over GSI, because it was really made for the device and includes the drivers and packages for the device. Although I don't really know whether GSI is bad, it may also work correctly..., if you try GSI, and it doesn't work, you could take a look at this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/gsi-lte-fix.3925151/

I must say I am very disappointed now. I tried so many things bought 3!!! Devices.. It is just to much work to get LineageOS on a tablet. Is there any (small Tablet) that I can put LineageOS on with LTE which is working. Man, I am trying this for 2 years now..... What about Sony Tablets?

Well, an old Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 with LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11). I helped someone today to get it on his device! It was very easy to do, so.
