Question To 5G or not to 5G - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Hi all,
I live in an area with good 5g coverage but I'm not sure if I should really enable it on my device. I don't really browse my device when I'm on data and usually, I'm on data when I'm outside wifi coverage...So, when I'm outside and with good 5g coverage, is it advisable to enable it or just go ahead with 4g? My data use is mostly confined to instant messaging apps, emails, and some light chrome browsing...

Depends.. You say you have good 5g coverage. Speed test it and see if the benefits outway the battery usage.. If your not downloading files or using much data 4g is more than enough for most of us

5g is where it's at. Everywhere around me is 5g just not around my house. I was getting 200gb down and 42 up. Fastest wifi I have is 116. But like you said, you only use data for instant messaging and emails, you don't need those fast speeds

thanks for your feedback..I have been doing some testing and find the battery drain is quite manageable with the 5g auto on...

I am not exactly impressed by its performance when I see that it's on. 4G has always been super fast for me (Verizon)

Are you really sure that's 5G? I think you are missing a 0 in 200...I'm getting downloads in excess of 2500mb/s and ups of 1500mb/s

This was the fastest I could pull. I saw someone on reddit pulled over a gig but I haven't checked where I was since the second

Looks like you were on 3G. What's the problem? You won't get LTE in the mountains right now.
thats his point He's back IN a 4G service area and he's rejoicing.

that's an "ahh...." of relief in the title, not an "ahhh!" like frustration from getting c**kblocked . I was confused at first too haha
4G is a great thing on these phones..for me..being an RDS--remote desktop support agent..works great and really quick going back n forth..but ohh man where in GB and or 2.2.3 for using FFC
4G in Houston!
I tried my revo in Houston today and I was truly impressed by the speeds. Avg DL/UL was 6 M/sec and the Netflix streaming was smooth as can be given hardware limitations. When is someone going to step up and provide a true high end video package like Coreplayer on my previous Win Mo phone?
4g up and running in worcester county, ma...... And it's great!!z!

Boo for all of you!!! I have to go to work to see 4G speeds. Not available within 30 miles of my house, and seeings how we were one of the last markets to see 3G, I'm guessing I may get 4G at my house by end of 2013.

Interner accelerator app, is it true?

Does internet accelerator app really speed up internet? Does it drain battery?
Below 2 app, different but from same dev...whats the they do accually?

You could check it with speedtest.net app from the market.
Skyfire has been the fastest browser for me..till date..
Then do anyone knows what the different between these two apps?
Ehm, the first one is called internet accelerator so it's sense is probably to accelerate your internet connection. The second one is called network signal booster so it should boost your network signal. Pretty clear what the diference is
I would be very careful with such apps. I don't know what they claim but I don't see how an app can accelerate the internet connection. And I absolutely don't believe that a software can boost the network signal. Only a better antenna could do this.

[Q] Signal Issue

Really weird story.. This all started Sunday morning when I left for work.. I noticed that I was only pulling 3g, shrugged it off and went on about my day. It stayed solely on 3G all day Sunday, and hasn't connected to LTE once, with the one exception being while I was in a Sprint store, trying to resolve the issue, but of course they have their own repeaters.. As soon as I had left the store, I dropped back down to 3G. While I was in the store, they mentioned that they had updated the tower nearest my house to 800 mhz, which is supposed to be better for building penetration, on Thursday of last week.. The manager tried telling me that the tower will suffer weaker signal until other area towers are upgraded.. Has anyone else heard of this? I have tried updating PRL, profile, using the ## command, and nothing will give me 4G, and it's really damn frustrating!
sounds like another Sprint excuse; I couldnt take them anymore and dumped them for T-Mo, which works great in Chicago land..
Surprisingly enough, I received 4G about an hour after posting this.. Curiosity got the best of me, and I ran a speed test

I have NEVER pulled speeds like that on Sprint, thought it was kind of awesome actually lol.. There may be hope for us yet!
Decent speeds for Sprint. Speaking of speeds, compare my WiFi to my 4g...

Location settings with Android OS 9 update issues?

The setting for MOBILE NETWORK only locations is missing. Anyone know if it's just buried or did they take that setting out completely? Just got the OS 9 update a week or so ago. Medium battery saving still has GPS running. Battery drain is starting to happen. US AT&T Snapdragon version here.

I believe you can access it here, well for just GPS only.

Miscommunication going on with Limey. I do NOT want my GPS on at all but I found the article above already. No way to turn off the gps where you sent me. WTF GOOGLE?! Some of us do not want high accuracy turned on all the damned time. It sucks your battery life away! I went from more like 26+ to less than 20. Think about all those people out there that don't have 4000 Mah batteries? They are going to be @SS out if luck!

Network Issue

So I recently bought this Xperia 1 Mark 2 and to be honest it's the best phone I have used apart from the battery life.
When I bought it, it was in Taiwan Firmware region which gave me bad network reception like 3 bars on 4G LTE+ or LTE and no 5G at all.
So after searching online I finally changed to SEA which is much better improvement.
But the issue is now I am getting full bars everywhere which is a good thing but no 5G and still slow speeds with full bars I just don't understand.
If anyone can help me understand that would be great.
The bars are pretty pointless: At best they would indicate your reception. In the worst case they show utter garbage.
You should look instead for ASU, on my LOS it's in settings:

That value is quite meaningful, and if I remember correctly, it is the base for the reception bars (and every dev can freely assign the ASU value to any number of bars).
However, reception can be good but traffic is still very slow. How? For example one provider in Germany (Telefonica) was infamous for such thing: You had 5 bars and even a good ASU but still very spotty traffic due to overcrowded and badly connected cells.
Perhaps that helps you to figure out your bottleneck (or to provide more info here).
PS: Found a nice overview - sry, it's german only but there's always google translate, right?

How has your phone been since flashing SEA firmware?
Also does wifi calling work?
