Why every launcher other than stock lag on this device? - Realme X2 Pro Questions & Answers

I've been using Realme X2 pro CN varient from past year but still i couldn't figure why every single 3rd party launcher lag when returning to home screen? I've tried lawnchair, Nova almost every launcher i could get my hands on, But problem persist. There're no delay when i return to home screen from any app in stock launcher but other launcher gives a solid 1-1.5s delay. I've tried giving it background process access, Performance mode on but nothing worked. I guess it's a ROM problem. Anyone else facing similar issue? I don't want to unlock bootloader or root my device as of now.
Would love if anyone could help.

I am using nova and dont have any lag problem

[Q] Go Launcher EX problem

I keep on changing launchers on my N1, recently found Go Launcher Ex and installed it. It's impressing me except one weird problem that whenever I select Settings>Preferences it' shows the preference screen for about half a second and disappears and I am back to home screen. Means I can't change any launcher settings.
I googled a lot but can't see anyone else having any such issue. Please help.
Thanks.

Well, you do have very little internal space. That normally causes me problems (with other applications)
I don't know if it could affect your launcher but try clearing up some room. I don't have the issue either but I'm on GB CM7. Even if you have time, try backing up your current rom/settings and then start fresh, see if that helps!
You can contast GO DEV Team OR message me!
The team Email is:[email protected]!
Guys, sorry for the very late reply, the problem was fixed after I did a factory reset
Thanks everyone!
I'm also facing the same problem as the OP is facing, I have Spice MI-410, So as it is posted I think Factory Reset is the only solution, too bad

scrolling lag/stutter?

Hi guys. I'm currently running Dr.ketans ROM, although I don't believe it's ROM related as it's happened on multiple roms. When scrolling or lock screen notificatiins pop up it lags and stutters, or opening apps ect it's not smooth at all. Anyone have any ideas how to stop it or fix it?
Thanks in advance, much appreciated ?
If you are not experiencing the same issues with the stock Samsung OS, then it sounds like an issue with the 3rd party OS.

I want to try that, but I have a **** load of apps and data that I use daily, plus work stuff and I'm not sure if I can recover it all after a reset. Although it's done it with nothing installed, always have 2.5gb ram plus free, and still have 60gb left ( plus 256 SD )
Any suggestions on backing up and restoring after a reset?
Try checking what apps you have enabled in 'accessibility' settings and try disabling them. For me I had major micro stutter through the UI and also in apps as soon as I enabled accessibility for LMT launcher, I disabled it and all was smooth again.

In android 9 stock there is a bug - when you change the wallpaper and lock screen wallpaper, if you swipe down the quick settings while the phone is locked/in the lock screen - it's super choppy.
Edit: I also reported it and on top of that in bug reports with logs. Waited two weeks to receive: "Thanks for your feedback. You SUGGESTION will be reviewed" rofl... great support and automated answers.

Recent Apps Switcher completely black 80% of time

Hello,
I really love my P20 Pro (and also the normal P20 lying around here) but there is one thing that annoys the heck out of me, with both these phones.
I updated them both to the newest version (which is 9.0.0.203 for me, at least for the pro, not sure about the non-pro, but it's up to date as well) and everytime (or at least at 80% of the time) I hit the rectangle recent apps it's just a black screen showing me a slight bar of my background and how much RAM I use. Nothing else. I need to close up the recent apps and open it again, hoping it works that time. (Also added a Screenshot of it down there.)
Anyone has the same problem or a solution to this?

Do you use a different launcher than default one? I think it's related to that. Also, after every major upgrade,it's recommended a factory reset(make a backup to your photos,contacts,etc...NOT APPS,only their data) then factory reset the phones. I think you did not do that after upgrading.

I use nova launcher. I could try using the stock launcher for a bit and see if that fixes that.
And yeah, I didn't factory reset afterwards. I might try it on the normal P20 first and see if that works.
Only thing I tried was wiping the cache partition but it didn't help with the problem.

The most probable cause is Nova Launcher...it might not be compatible with the new system...remember,that this is not clean android,it's EMUI personalized. Try resetting if changing launcher does not fix the problem.

So Huawei really wants you to force you to use their own launcher? I really consider just living on with the bug since I hate ditching nova just because of that, since I've been using it like... 6 or 7 years now.
But I'll try switching to the stock one for a few days and yeah.

I liked Nova too,it's only an assumption, maybe in a future update of Nova this will be fixed. Maybe it's not EMUI's fault...apps need to be adapted to the new android and customizations from different manufacturers...so...maybe this will be fixed with an update from Nova. Or even from EMUI,but generally,if every other apps work,it might be the app fault, not the system. EMUI is a little different,so some options are not the same with stock android.

I'm not sure, you could try with a factory reset and see if that fixes the issue. I don't have it since I updated to c27, I think.

Did any of you guys try a factory reset? Since not all of us have those issue, it's most likely gonna help.

REPLY FROM NOVA LAUNCHER DEV :-
Hello,
If you are having issues with Nova staying as your default launcher, try this: Reboot your device. Or you can try Phone Settings -> Apps -> Default Apps -> Home App -> Nova Launcher. If that doesn't work, read below as it's been a known issue for well over a year now.
PLEASE READ THIS RESPONSE IN FULL!
The things mentioned below are still present with the release of Android 11 on September 8th, 2020. Google has made it very clear that they have no plans to completely fix these issues any time in the near or even distant feature.
You can read Google's official statement and our statement about the issues you and anyone else using Android 10 and Android 11 are experiencing. Please take note that Google admits to this being broken on their end of things and that a fix will be coming in a future update to Android(Stated March 2019.).
However, it's now well over a year later and there are still many issues with full system gestures and 3rd party launchers on both Android and Android 11. These issues will remain for the foreseeable future as Google has no plans to completely fix their full system gestures.
This includes things such as the CLOSE ALL/CLEAR ALL button not showing up when you access the Recent Apps screen. As well as a delay of being able to tap on app icons when returning to the home screen from another app, from viewing the Recent Apps screen or anything similar.
Please understand, there is absolutely NOTHING WE CAN DO TO FIX OR CHANGE THIS IN ANY WAY! Contact Google or your device OEM directly with these issues as contacting any launcher developer isn't the correct thing to do and isn't going to accomplish anything.
SAMSUNG USERS: Samsung has enabled full system gestures to be enabled within 3rd party launchers with their One UI 2.5 update. This means you can enable those gestures, but things are still very broken, especially when it comes to animations and how smooth the gestures work. This is NOT something Nova, or any other 3rd party launcher can fix. Only Google can fix it
I think that's bull****, but okay. Android is open source and Realme has their own kernel, they can certainly fix some things but they don't want to.

Question Third Party Launcher Bug

My X3 Pro Updated to android 13 yesterday and I've noticed that when I use a third party launcher the swipe up to go back to the default home screen is broken.

Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a known fix?
Thanks
Which launcher are you using?
I've had it once with Nova, reboot helped.

It's Nova. However I tried Hyperion to see if it was Nova specific but it was the same.
I'll try a reboot and even a factory reset. What do you reckon?
Do you use a third party launcher still?
Thanks

Unfortunately it hasn't worked. Still exactly the same bug, even after a factory reset.
Any other suggestions?
Maybe resetting Nova settings?
Maybe the gesture is overruled by a Nova setting?
I've done some trial and error, and the bug only seems to happen if there are apps open in the background. If all other apps are closed the swipe up gesture works as usual.

I have the exact same problem. Tried several launchers, but the problem is still present, so I went back to Nova. The cause of problem is probably in ColorOS. My solution was to put Nova action widget in dock and assign it to Nova search action. For opening app drawer I use swype up gesture.
